Unbelonged for this world

in OCD3 years ago (edited)

I think it is safe to say, the world is a mess.

Over the last few days I have talked to a few people about it and I get the sense that I am not the only one that feels that so much of what is going on now, is not for me - like I am born in the wrong time where who I am is not suited to the conditions, and evolution has left me behind.

This world is tiring. It is as if there is a constant battle raging just to survive the simplest of days and there is no good option- Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'll be damned, regardless.

Perhaps this is not everyone's experience and I am surrounded by confirmation bias, but at least from what I see and hear - there is a despair in the hearts and eyes of many, a resignation that there is no upside, that the best one can hope for is to limit the down.

Why bother resisting, just give in. Fit in.
Be like everyone else.

Instead of pushing back, life is so much easier just to go along, to get along and do what is instructed. Jump on the bandwagon of mass social conformity in an attempt to avoid standing out and being cut down. It isn't a question of tall poppies, it is about not being a flower of society at all.

The parallels to the past and to the most restrictive regimes in the modern world are unparalleled, but to draw comparison is to draw the swords of new foe who just a moment earlier, was old friend. Relationships hang, not in the balance, but at the end of nooses knotted with fear, slung over the beams of polarized argument and weaponized social movements.

And the gallows are full. Seven billion people stand at the trapdoor awaiting their fall, screaming into the void with only an echo of their own voice back, if they had bothered to stay and listen. But, they are too busy to tarry, for if they stand to long to consider their position, they will be over taken and found wanting, the next hurdle to stay accepted uncleared and their ungraceful demise awaits, cheered on by those who are soon to stand in their place.

Do I sound cynical - Clinical?

Maybe - but in the days, weeks and months behind, the degradation has ramped up and with each hour minute and second ahead, it is increasing in velocity, gathering more mass and a gravity of its own, until it consumes and pulls into the darkness, all that it touches.

In the past, escape was an option. The resistance was alive and well, helping those it could to flee all they knew and owned via the hidden tunnels of city and state so that they wouldn't be captured, enslaved, controlled and disposed of. It is no longer an option, as the prison state is global, the policing inescapable, as neighbors name neighbors in a bid to score social points through digital stars and hearts. Signaling to the world their righteousness, as they follow or break the rules, depending on what is in their best interest at the time. Ethics and morality evaluated on number of followers and security and privilege granted on willingness to spread the good message.

A protection racket - pay your dues or lose your livelihood. Stay quiet on your beliefs and broadcast the official narrative, or face the judgement of the people to become an outcast, a lower caste, counted among the filthy and sick - spreaders of disease and mayhem. If only you would do what you were told and stand in line, your suffering would end.

Your body, our choice.

Decades of fighting for civil rights, human rights, personal rights - wiped away in the equivalent of moments to hail a return to the well-trodden ways of old - centralized control and strict enforcement. Step out of line and there will be no warning, only examples are made and they are made publicly, globally.

Fear.

If you aren't scared, you aren't paying attention. It is the only thing people now respond to and they respond predictably. Release the message, repeat the message, propel the message. Over and over until it is conditioned, indoctrinated, enforced by the individual on themselves - from the moment they awake, to the moment they sleep, keep it incessant to keep them fearful. Overwhelm their senses, drown out their thoughts. Erode their resolve.

Leave them all so tired and broken that when sleep does come, there is no energy left to dream of a better world, before the next day begins again.

There is no escape, this is global. There is no safe harbor, no pocket of the world that is spared, no one is coming to our rescue. We have done this to ourselves, by turning ally into enemy and incentivizing hostile activity, punishing anyone who speaks out and takes middleground, celebrating those on the extreme tails.

Tyranny.

We have created a world of tyrants at the granular level, with each individual the king and executioner - not realizing they are also upon a thousand chopping blocks awaiting judgement.

Perhaps it is weakness, maybe I am just too tired.
I am not belonged for this world.

While many seem quite at home.
Thriving on the suffering - even when it is their own.
Especially when it is their own.

Everyone loves a victim.

As human being, we are bound with certain fact for living our lives. sometimes we feel lot of mess around but thats all true facts which we somehow accept it otherwise we looks different than others.

If you don't recognize the mess, it is hard to know where to start cleaning.

Yes, it is a mess!

Sometimes, a little bit of hope goes a long way - a small break.

Indeed it is a global issue and there may be no escape for any one but we have to keep pushing back and not just flow in the bandwagon.
In the midst of darkness, light shines the brightest .We just have to be that light whenever we can. Thanks for this post.

to keep pushing back and not just flow in the bandwagon.

Pushing back is what makes it worth it. I have seen so many people roll over of late.

You once said you will work till the day you die and never stop working, back in the steemit days yes?
And that s what they want, willing slaves. Man up.
Get some land, ignore them, use crypto, use your skills or make what you want, grow food, enjoy being alive, and fuck them!

You get one shot at this shit show, make it count Taraz!

I will work until the day I die, guaranteed.

Get some land, ignore them, use crypto, use your skills o make what you want, grow food, enjoy being alive, and fuck them!

I see this as work too. It all is. The work that gets done and the reasons why matter though. I don't need an X-box or a faster car.

It is a shit show though - may as well have some fun along the way :)

Then make it so captain, and ignore the alleged captors, they will fall regardless, it is wake up world time.
I work till 1am sometimes, for myself and family, but never for THEM.

Yeah - none of this is for anyone other than the people I care about and the extension to people I could care about. Not for the people I couldn't care less about.

You will all get there, you will all work it out, I do feel for your generation, some old decrepit farts think you all need culling and neutering. They are all the usual suspect's, I will leave you to work it all out, outwit them is all I can say.

The ratio to remember is 500:1.
On average there are 500 citizens for every armed state employee, (many who are feeling exactly as we do)

Yes, they have unbridled surveillance powers; but the information and firepower asymmetry has never been smaller.

How many flash drives out there, with copies of the names, IDs, home addresses and phone numbers, of every policeman, soldier, politician and prison guard?

The state as a concept, is on the cusp of collapse. All it has left is bravado.

I agree and disagree - because in order to enact what you suggest, people will have to rise up and do what they don't want to at least currently do. If we get to the point they are willing to do it, we are in such a state that what is left is going to be a dystopia in and of itself. Perhaps it is the only way.

I'm not talking about a violent revolution. They just change bums on the throne. I mean the state as a superstition, just going away because people stop believing in it. When beliefs become too expensive to maintain, they just kinda go away.

Oh, I agree with this. i think that economic revolution is the only way out and it has to be done using a system that requires evaluated activity to get in - where the people choose what holds value. The systems are here.

One big leak like that, and being armed in service of the state will be so ridiculously dangerous, that very few will be willing to do it and the whole thing will grind to a halt.
Even if nothing happens to any of them. (Which would be my hope; there's been enough violence).

I also have no desire for violence, just disarming/defunding/etc. In the US at least the police are under public scrutiny like they've never been before and states are passing legislation that either limits their powers or makes it easier for civilians to sue them for abuse.

I'm sure you're familiar with BlueLeaks… a fine example of what is possible.

There is very little Integrity left in the world. There is no more black and white, it has been blended and reblended to just a muddy ugly grey. There is also a sever lack of honesty and credibility with people and governments and especially drug companies. Vaccines either work or they don't, period.

I'll be lucky to make it another 20 years on this Earth, but I honestly do feel very sorry for the people just starting out in life. I hope parents and grand-parents are preparing their children and grandchildren for what is coming.

but I honestly do feel very sorry for the people just starting out in life.

As much as I love my child - she isn't likely going to have a great life if the world keeps heading in this direction.

«-ALLEGORIC METAPHORS-»

You are so right, we are a mess. It's really depressing when you think, there is no where to hide. It is global.
I am generally an up person, looking for the positive angle but there hasn't been any good news at all lately, just viruses, floods, fires blah, blah, blah, sick of it.
I must and will find a better path, life is too short to stay down in the dumps.

It is a flooding of despair to break spirit an any thoughts of uprising.

I hear you there, but I refuse to have my spirit broken by the knuckleheads' that call themselves leaders.
My focus is on my small circle of family and friends , my loved ones, done.
Now I just have to stop reading and listening to the crap that flies around.

I was discussing with my friend about this and we came to the conclusion that we have become very many 7 billion competing for resources
Everything has become difficult, even discussing and highlighting anything

It's like we're playing a game with all the cards exposed

We are. We might not see all of each other's hand - but our data is revealed to those in power.

Yup things seem to be getting worse on every front. My solution has been to ignore for my own wellbeing, even though there are still quite a few that go directly across and make ignoring impossible

I can't ignore all of it, as it impacts on more than my own future and I see my daughter's life as innocent. She is not ready to take responsibility for this world that is being left her, one degraded and destroyed moment by moment, more and more.

I certainly can appreciate the sentiment… but at the same time I feel that every generation has felt this way, and things tend to sway back and forth regardless of what we are talking about, so if we swing towards tyranny now, it can lead to a greater swing towards freedom. I only pray that tragedies are minimized.

I think the US, Europe and developed parts of Asia are going to have to leave some of this in the hands of the Southern Hemisphere. I really believe their time is coming to lead humanity forward, although a lot will have to change in the next few years, but it seems everything is in place. I think that they’ve tasted enough tyranny that once they have a chance, they’ll be pretty resistant to such things, and crypto is going to empower them a whole lot. And then in 100 years we will all start taking freedom for granted again and the cycle continues 😆

Anyway, I totally feel the frustration 🫂

but at the same time I feel that every generation has felt this way, and things tend to sway back and forth regardless of what we are talking about

I understand this, but I think that this is a trap too - things are different. Never before have there ben the capabilities to do this at the global scale. Even the "World War" was not - it was isolated geographically. We might live local, but we are under the influence of global forces.

You're definitely not the only one feeling like that and it is definitely confirmation bias XD we're all pretty sure our world view is accurate coz everyone around us thinks the same :D

This is what I wonder - the people around me IRL definitely don't think the same...

This is the case of everything in my country and it radiates to every part even to places as small as the hospital.

People are scared to act because of fear of victimization.

The person who is victimizing you is also scared of being victimized.

After reading this post, I just feel there is more sadness in the world.

People are not so happy, people are just conforming.

There has been a nationwide industrial action in the health sector in Nigeria and the only thing the government thought of doing was to sue them to court for asking for their right.

It's just sad.

The person who is victimizing you is also scared of being victimized.

Society as we have built it.

I don't keep track of all the different thing happening in different countries - but as far as I have seen, it has to be solved at the local level, which requires the people to become a force.

Positive feedback loops and promised exponential growth will soon run its course( not to sound prophetic). we'll have to see what itwill leave behind in its wake

It is going to leave a crash of monumental proportions and then the same people who shilled the up, will say the down was inevitable, as they buy the bones of the fallen.

I think many including me in this world have gone mental somehow since especially the beginning of the outbreak. Yes, there is a constant battle to live;

Born - Study$Exams&Finish - Find A Good Work - Save Money - Find A Good Partner - Marry - Get Into Debt - Have Kids - Bring Them Up - Make Them Marry - Get Older - Die

This is a vicious cycle. The more happy days in this vicious cycle the more you are lucky.

Staying quiet to avoid being discriminated..... We are suffering from all of this

So well said.

Yes, I think most people are tired and afraid and worn down so much as to see resistance as futile. And that is exactly what the goal of government was along. Absolute power at any cost.

But I also think there is hope. The launch of new technologies like blockchains and DeFi is paving the way for dismantling the existing power structure. Mr. Robot might actually happen in real life someday.

But whatever happens, I for one will not hesitate to resist if the time comes. I would rather die than live in a cage. Liberty or death.

I'm tired of it all. What was anybody thinking, creating something that could wipe out the world? What kind of person thinks like that?

That aside. I walk with fear in my heart. Not even for me, but, for my children. They are the future, but, what kind of future?

I don't listen to as much news, although I do watch it to keep up, but, turn some of it off because who needs to hear the same depressing news on the repetitive news networks.

I agree, and feel tired too.But I still think that the only remedy is to reduce as much as possible the interactions with 'society'; bigger and busier cities have a stronger grip.
