Market Friday Goes to the Air Show - Part One

in #marketfriday5 years ago (edited)

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here on steemit. I have been pleasured by all of you, as you send in the most wonderful posts. Going places, doing things, buying merchandise. I have been surprised by many, not being familiar with the culture and I must say that it has been such an educational experience for me in so many ways and I hope for you also. This week, I am taking you to the grocery store, one of those places I rarely take you or even go to myself.

Today we will be attending an Air Show showing off all different kinds of aircraft. The Headliner Show was for the Air Forces' F-16 Thunderbird Team and the Navy's F-18 Blue Angel Team. I can tell you that they did not disappoint. It could have been better weather, but, let's face it, I wasn't missing it anyway. Come on in, buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Please leave the link to your post here so it can easily be found by others. It helps you and me to have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much for joining us!! ❤

This is a picture of the Thunderbirds and their famous "Reflection Pass". If they were tail to tail, it would be the "Calypso Pass"

The Thunderbird team doing a simple Delta Formation pass.

Shortly after takeoff, (you can see all the nose gear doors haven't closed yet) with number four in "Fingertip Formation". Momentarily, he will move into "the slot" and that will change the formation into the Delta Formation

The Golden Knights are one of only three Department of Defense-sanctioned aerial demonstration teams, along with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The team is composed of approximately 95 men and women, which includes four parachute units, an aviation unit, and a headquarters. The demonstration teams, which use five dedicated aircraft, perform at more than 100 events per year. The tandem section is known for taking Soldiers, celebrities, and heads of state on jumps, and the competition section focuses on winning national and international skydiving events.*

"Echelon Pass", which is used to demonstrate the close formation skills of the pilots. In normal operations, this is used when maneuvering a flight when coming into the pattern. It is a lot easier for everyone to simply roll into the bank and look "through the flight" than it is for them to stay line abreast with each aircraft higher than the one next to them on the inside of the turn.

#15.jpg

This is a picture of all 6 aircraft on the top of a "Delta Loop". The six-ship formation is called the Delta Formation and they are simply performing a loop.

#38.JPG

In fairness, I had to show off the Blue Angels flying in their Echelon Parade. Close and tight. Just the way they like it.

German-built Extra 300 Acrobatic Airplane. The maneuvers!!

Aerobatics/Acrobatics. FAR 91.303 (This stands for The Federal Aviation Regulations ) defines aerobatic flight as an intentional maneuver involving an abrupt change in an aircraft's attitude, an abnormal attitude, or abnormal acceleration, not necessary for normal flight

This is a C-47 Skytrain, which is a military version of the civilian DC-3 (the DC-3 was first:-). During WWII, the C-47 had flown for every branch of the US Military, and all major allied powers. During WWII, the C-47 saw duty in the Normandy Invasion (where some towed gliders full of troops while others carried 28 paratroopers who jumped into the battle), flying the "Hump" over the Himalayas and general all around supply for everyone, everywhere. While the C-47 was officially called the Skytrain by the US Army Air Corps, there were at least 22 Designations for this familiar aircraft, but it was best known as the Gooney Bird. By the end of WWII, there were 10,692 DC-3/C-47's built and they played a large part in the 1948 Berlin Airlift and saw military action in Korea and Vietnam. To this day, there are many DC-3's and C-47 variants still in service.

#7.JPG

The large 3X on the side is identification marking, which allows the other aircraft in the formation to readily identify which aircraft is which...while maintaining radio silence. Typical to many military aircraft, the crew (with the pilot having the biggest vote!) named their aircraft, this one is "That's All...Brother". Many also had "nose art" where the more artistic crews would paint a "morale-boosting" picture on the nose.

#12.JPG

Ponchito is a gorgeous example of a nicely restored B-52 Mitchell bomber. This is the same type aircraft Doolittle's Raiders flew on their famous bombing mission of Japan. Of interest, you might notice that there is one-quarter of the engine cowling that is painted olive drab green instead of being polished like the rest of the aircraft...if it were polished like the rest of the aircraft, reflections of the sun could temporarily blind the pilot. It's the details that count 🙂

STOP!! BRAIN TEASER AHEAD!!

Answer: The letter S

#10.JPG

While the story of the Memphis Belle is well known and documented by the movie with the same name, many don't know how to interpret the bombs/stars/swastika's painted on the nose. For anyone who is interested, each bomb represented a single bombing mission. The stars above some of the bombs signify that the Memphis Bell was one of the lead aircraft for that particular bombing mission. The swastika's represent confirmed German planes shot down by the aircraft's gunners. Note that while this aircraft is painted up commemorate the Memphis Belle, on the original Memphis Belle, the forward gun seen here had a much larger, square plexiglass opening that extended all the way into the bombardier's plexiglass.

This is a picture of an original Tuskegee Airman. This gentleman is in his late 90's and he drove himself to the airshow:-) While he didn't fly this day, the squadron gave him an honorary ride down the runway. This Stearman PT-17 is a refurbished copy of the first aircraft the Tuskegee Airman trained in. You can read the history of them here.

#1.JPG

All these spectators are great :-) Thunderbird maintenance and jets all ready for a demo...now all we need is the pilots to get this show on the road!

#5.JPG

How is this for deception? I'll bet you thought these are the Blue Angel pilots, didn't you! Blue uniforms, obviously a Blue Angel jet...WRONG! Take a closer look, those are Air Force uniforms and those are actually the Thunderbird pilots walking down the flight line to join a group of new Air Force enlistees in repeating the oath of enlistment in front of their shiny white jets:-) This airshow was the first time in 12 years that the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angles participated in the same airshow.

#3.JPG

Ahhh, here are our jets...and our new recruits! They had a swearing-in ceremony for these young people with the Thunderbirds in presence. WELCOME to the Air Force!

#4.JPG

There were tents and tent of all things to do with flying but I will just show you a few. Maybe next week, I will show you a few more. The mandatory earplugs, in case you forgot yours at home, sunglasses, because how can you be a cool aviator without the glasses... and a mini version of the F-18 that the Blue Angels fly and a mini F-16 that the Thunderbirds fly. So many fun things, so little money. LOL

ribbet.jpg

A Barksdale B-52 "Stratofortress" AKA a BUF (Big Ugly *ucker). The tail used to contain a gunner (and guns!), but the gunner was replaced by remotely controlled guns and then the guns were replaced with beeps and squeaks (jammers!). This venerable B-52 had its first flight in 1952 and entered service in February 1952 and will most likely still be flying in 2052! There were 744 B-52's made, with the last delivery in October 1962...they are all old. The B-52 can carry up to 70,000 pounds of weapons and can fly more than 8,800 miles without inflight refueling. With tanker support, it has unlimited range.

#28.jpg

Thank you! Keep on Steemin'!!

And just like that, the airshow is done. I hope you had a good time! Come back next week for Part 2! As always, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit #MarketFriday!! Have a most fabulous day!

Let the sun shine in on your life
So the joy may touch your soul

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

How to Participate:

1. Go to the market! Any market will do! Food, Clothing, Plant or Animal, if you wish. You can go to the zoo or an art auction. Anywhere or anything that you pay money for a service. I once went to a nail salon.
2. Take pictures! Be creative (or not)
3. Tell us a little bit about the market, what brought you here?
4. Post the picture(s)
5. Don’t forget to hashtag it! #MarketFridayChallenge by @dswigle

It is always interesting to see the different markets around the globe! C’mon! Show me your market shots! I eagerly await them!

I have been discovering new places, some right in my own area! This week, I discovered a new farmers market that will be a walkable distance! I find that super exciting! I love to share and be shared with! I am intrigued by different cultures. It is exciting and yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery store, the local marketplace or even an art gallery, a kite festival! Wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Be different if you wish! It does not have to be a traditional market! We will love it! I promise you! Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Oh this post is just packed full of good stuff. Kind of like a fruitcake now that I think about it lol. Omg my mind wanders when on the edge of sleep. I am always beyond blown away with the precision that they operate with. I really enjoy watching them and hearing them is a big part of the fun!

Amazing how some of those old planes can keep on going. Seeing a B52 on the ground is seriously awe inspiring. Had to believe it can fly especially when carrying so much weight!

Yes we all want a part 2. I bet plenty of us are rooting for a third part as well lol. I nodded off in my chair and am about ready for bed!

It is a little bit like fruit cake, isn't it? That is so funny when you said that but it does kind of remind me of the cake that is a little bit of everything mixed in.

Their precision is always so amazing and the skill level here is over the top as far as I'm concerned. There's merely feet between those planes when they are in the air and it has to be with steady hands that these planes are flown. I'm trying to imagine myself and how shaky I would be knowing that my life was in the hands of another by merely a flip of the stick. Anyway the show was amazing and I know I keep using that word but it's the only word that you can say when you're watching them do their aerobatics. Oh my God that's amazing!

even though I have seen their shows many many many times and then many many more oh, I never Tire of them and I could watch them all day long. It is truly amazing that planes like the B-52 are still in the air and you have to wonder how does large planes can stay up because it sure doesn't make sense aerodynamically or in my head, because I'm sure aerodynamically they make sense. I guess there is going to be a part 2 because I couldn't Shuffle it all into one. I know there was a little disappointment in me not putting more of the shopping part in it but that just says I need another one so I can show off more shopping. I want to thank you for sort of staying awake and for being one of the people that always supports Market Friday. It is because of people like you that I am able to continue with the challenge.

thanks you showed those cool detail shots I loved this post

Here is my post for this week

https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tattoodjay/market-friday-interesting-pub-name

How could I not post the fabulous expertise of these amazing Pilots? I almost said men because the team's used to be made exclusively of men, but of recent years have women on their teams. As it should be. They should want their amazing skills in every turn and every roll. The g-force alone would probably make most people pass out. I have been to many many your shows, but I have never been to one where the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels fly together. As a matter of fact I have not done that for 13 years oh, so this was a very special one and even the inclement weather couldn't spoil it.

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop in and for putting out a post for Market Friday, just like you always do. And so, I thank you.

#MARKETFRIDAY loves you!

!tip

Yes indeed it would have been a shame not to share it this week, Its great that there are female Pilots these days, it was a mans world just a few years ago, The stress on the body's flying those with the High G turns must be amazing so both the strength Energy and dedication of the Pilots not to mention insane skills and confidence in the fellow members of the team.
Thats a long time since your last one but catching both teams together is something few will ever see so that must have been a blast even with some bad weather

No Need for thanks its always a pleasure to join Market Friday :)

Everything you say about them is true but one fact that you did get wrong it is not 13 years since I have seen them but it is 13 years since they have flown together - the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels. Remember that they are military shows so there is no entry fee, it is free and that is a very expensive show to put on because as you know jet fuel is near and dear . They normally run opposite ends of the United States and cross over but usually independently as one is Navy in one is Air Force . The last time I saw the air show was when they were in the area which I believe was in September. I I think I have seen them every year for at least a hundred years now. LOL

Oop sorry I misread it and I did think it was surprising you had not seen an airshow for that long, its so cool you got to see them together I have to admit I am kind of envious it must have been amazing to experience and so cool that you could share such amazing shots of the show with us !tip

I'll have to see what I have left for next week!

I am sure you have plenty for another post ;)

No problem! Better late than never! Truth!

This is my entry
https://steemit.com/food/@brittandjosie/marketfriday-on-sunday-to-buy-cheese

And this about the grass cheese 🧀
Grass cheese is made from milk from hopping cows ...
After a winter in the stable, the cows cannot wait to go outside again. As soon as the farmer opens the barn door, the cows jump happily to the pasture, where they enjoy the fresh grass. That is something else than the bix and the hay that they have ground all winter! The fresh grass gives the milk of the cows a milder taste.
The cheese that is made from the milk of cows that eat grass again for the first time in the year is called grass cheese. This very young cheese has a mild and creamy taste.

You know that I am tickled pink that you entered and I am embarrassed that I was so excited to see your post, I forgot to come back and get this one!

We're not worthy! This is one of the coolest posts I've ever seen.

I have a couple of personal connections here.
The Golden Knights formerly trained and were based out of Yuma Proving Ground. It was one of my Dad's favorite outings, to spend a morning on the landing lawn at YPG while they were jumping. We did it often.

The Blue Angels winter at NAS El Centro. I know of at least 3 good viewing areas for when they are practicing. Pretty spectacular stuff.

The Memphis Belle (if that is the movie Belle) was previously owned by a friend of mine. He flew it as a Forrest Service fire fighter. He owned 3 B-17s that were leased as Fire Birds. When he retired, he sold the other two to the crews that flew them and listed that one. It was bought by the movie company who promptly hired him to oversee the reconfiguration to original form and to do the flying in the movie. Don Clark. Heck of a guy. He kept an ugly lump of metal on his mantle. It was a piece of a German 88 shell that stopped in his parachute (which they sat on) while he was flying a P-51.

I could keep telling Clark stories. Lots of stories. But I'll just say thank you for the whole day's worth of memories. You have no idea...

Oh I am so familiar with finding those perfect little spots to watch the action from! I have lived on the Flightline most of my adult life and to watch these amazing people, both the parachutist and the pilots and even the drivers of those Vehicles which actually I did not show yet oh, that will be four part 2. All of these things put together are simply mind-boggling. For someone like yourself who is aware and well versed in the ins-and-outs of the flying and such, it's a cool Factor. But for people who have never seen it, some don't even know of the rigorous training and everything that you must give up to make this dream come true. That is so absolutely cool that you have so many connections and I have many connections also, although different than yours, there's a bond binding us together just for having had them. If that makes any sense to you.

Birds of a feather and all that.

I want to thank you for one of the best comments that I have ever received and I want to hear more stories so, if you have it in you, I think that you should write a post on it and if and when you do please make sure that you tagged me because it is stories like these that keep the past alive. We should never let them die with us and by putting them on the blockchain, they will live forever. I look forward to seeing them and I want to thank you for stopping in and taking a peruse through the post. Be aware that there is going to be a part 2 next week. Have a most wonderful day and a an amazing weekend!

Yay, another air show!!! How nice to see these photos. I know Blue Angels, I've seen them on tv once. You're lucky :)
Here's my entry for this week, fresh from the craft market Hand Painted And Decorated Eggs At The Craft Market For MarketFriday

It is always a joy to be able to say that I got to see another ear show because they are absolutely amazing to watch. I always think that I've seen it all and then I go back and see it again and it's a whole new show. The skill involved in flying these Maneuvers is over-the-top amazing and surely they have to have nerves of Steel to be able to perform some of them. You are so fortunate to have been able to watch them on television! The Thunderbirds Are The Air Force's version of the Blue Angels and for the first time in 13 years they have flown in the same air show. Because it's so expensive to fly them they rarely performed together. Twice the money, twice the fun I guess.

I have to say that there is going to be a part 2 to this and I'm not sure if that's good or bad because people are fickle and sometimes once is enough, but I do have enough pictures to carry me through 10 posts however I will only do one more. I do love looking at your planes and just imagining those big things in the sky that don't fall out like a rock amazes me. In case you didn't know aerodynamics is not my strong suit and I have to rely on books to tell me what is and what isn't.

I also wanted to take the time to thank you again for your support of Market Friday. It is because of people like you that this challenge is still around. So just know that I appreciate all that you do. As always, I wish you a most wonderful weekend with happiness and lots of sunshine. I also want to thank you for dropping the link here! 💖

Very cool photos, Denise. Too bad the market was so minimalist. I'd love to see more stuff on display... Thanks for sharing!

Actually, it was me who is being minimalist, because the market stretched all across the flight line. But because the post was getting too long and people start losing interest if I put too many pictures in, I had to make a decision as to put in more Market or more planes. Well this is Market Friday, I tried to include a little bit of the items that you could buy, but on part 2, just for you, I will add more Market to the Post. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a most wonderful day!

Thank you, Pryde! I appreciate the upvote and resteem! By the way, for the pictures, most are happy accidents, you know? When they are moving that fast and you are panning, you say a little prayer and hope for the best. :)

It is funny how the posting thing works. Some of my best posts do the worst. Go figure. Well, I thank you for dropping by and tomorrow is another day!

Good night!

It is funny. I find the same thing. It is the most I never expected to do well that do well. Something resistance there I think.

Have a goodnight, Denise and thank you:)

I know, right? There is no Rhyme or Reason to this. It must have to do with who is on and when you post it, something I have never figured out. Thank you and I hope you have a most wonderful day.

I think also when the last time you were curated. They gotta spread that good stuff around:)

I haven't seen Curie in a while. That's not making me feel better about my stuff. LOL I'm not really complaining, the platform is quieter and with the Quiet comes less everything. But it seems to be picking up and that's a good thing for everybody.

Curie does not always leave a comment these days. It may have been she visited but did not comment. Also she is co sponsoring contests and such.

With all my pleasure!

I remember going to airshow as a kid! Loved it!
Here is my usual trek around the market, today you'll see Minty's sister

That's so funny that you should say that! There are so many people that remember that your shows from when they were kids, and I was wondering if it's because they have less of them now or that people just don't go to those things anymore. It was a wonderful show and the pilots were amazing with their level of skill and expertise. I'm so glad I got a chance to go and to meet these young men and women. It was a great opportunity.

Thank you for taking me through the markets again and I especially am looking forward to meeting minty. It is with great pleasure that I must say that it is because of people like yourself that I have succeeded in keeping Market Friday alive. So thank you and I wish you a most wonderful weekend!

!tip

Thank you! There probably are less airshows, and not sure if it appeals to everyone. People aren't as amazed by flying as they were when I was as a kid. You hardly ever see or hear excited kids at airports watching planes take off these days

Posted using Partiko Android

Isn't that a little sad, in so many ways? I wouldn't let my kids have handheld stuff when they were young. They needed to be outside and playing like KIDS, getting the wow out of Mother Nature instead. Going to watch a bill be passed all the way... we do live in Washington, DC... so might as well use the fun... and going to the airport. Yes!!! I did it and we watched planes for hours, talking about areospace and enginering and how it doesn't fall out of the sky.

Parents have taken the wow out of childhood. I mean it. I still get wowed by the sighting of the first firefly.

Hehe

Thanks for the fun today!

I love it when it is this period of the year by you with this fantastic flying show you are always brillantly documenting !! Always the time to discover amazing planes from all periods...
Thanks for being the incredible reporter of your wonderful events my dear ^_^

Oh you know me so well! This is the time of the year that the air show is attended by Denise. Right before the hot heat and not in the cold. I do love these fabulous men and their flying machines. Synchronize flying is such an exact science, which is one of the reasons why I would never be able to do it. I do things with a pinch of this and a pinch of that, no exact science for anything!

It was a most wonderful show and I could go again and again.

Thank you so much for supporting me and for helping make Market Friday a success. For without people like yourself, there would be no challenge. As usual, I hope that you have a most incredible weekend!

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

You can see your post's place along the track here: The Daily Whistle Stops, Issue 480

Thank you so much! I appreciate the mention!!!

You are amazing and this post was entertaining and educational. I emailed it to several people who I think will enjoy it even though they are not on steemit.

Well good morning to you! That is a most generous thing for you to do! As you know from me living in Colorado Springs, you can't help but be a little bit educated in the ways of jets and flying. I am glad that you enjoyed it and I will tell you that it was a wonderful weekend spent, but I did get to enjoy the practice the day before the show started. One of the few perks that I got. I know that the Thunderbirds Are at the Air Force Academy not too long ago. Do you ever get the chance to watch them when they are out there?

As always, I wish you a wonderful Friday and hope that your weekend is amazing.

#MarketFriday loves you!

!tip

We can watch most of the Thunderbirds practice and preform from our back yard. They will be here for AFA graduation as usual but I haven't taken the time to look up close like you've presented here and labeled so professionally. Amazing shots! And the little tiny airplane you have flying back and forth is cute.
Looking forward to part 2.

Yes. At Nellis, I could watch them all the time, but, yes! Up close and personal is tres cool.

Oh, yes... Graduation again. Now to toss those out of the zoo and make room for the new attraction. I am so glad you like the post. I hope to not disappoint with #2

The weather turned to rain after that. :)

Thank you so much and have a most fabulous weekend!

What a brilliant display of jets it makes me miss them air force air shows i use to go to when i was back home in Oz i was always like a little kid glued to a TV thanks for bringing them memories back they are just so precise with there movements i honestly don't know how they do it. I especially like that full chrome Panchito plane so cool. Looking forward to part 2 :)

Oh, you and me both! I love air shows, even now and yes! Panchito is my very favorite unless of course, we are talking the F-15 Air to Ground version. The air to air is more modern and well, just not the same.

The precision is amazing and I am in awe of them. Well, of course, I am awed pretty easy. :)

Thank you for always supporting #MarketFriday and being a part of the challenge. It is so much appreciated!! As always, I hope you have an amazing day!

Earplugs 2 bucks?
Nice.

I know!!! What a deal! They want to make sure everyone has their ears protected. I actually thought that was a little high, although I must admit, most people bring their own.

Thanks for stopping by and checking me out! As always, I wish you a most wonderful day!

!tip

Let's put it this way -- it's a buck apiece to protect your ears. If you went deaf you'd pay 2 bucks to get your hearing back ... I bet. (Although I might not. That way I wouldn't have to listen to my dogs carrying on out in the yard -- the way they are now. Yesterday's weather was so awful they didn't stay out long -- or much -- so they're making up for lost time. This isn't why I moved here, but it is another reason why I'm glad we don't have neighbors.)

P.S. Those are amazing shots!!

Thank you so much! Oh, yes! Truth is, most people do bring their own and I would pay $200 dollars to get my hearing back. More if I break open the piggy bank.

Thank you! I was happy with the way most came out, however, this week, less quality as rain and clouds moved in. Meh.

I went to see a flight show before and it was very cool.

They really are a lot of fun, aren't they? Especially when they have parachutists and all the antique planes. I get to attend one almost every year but, this was probably the coolest because they combined the Air Force and Navy Teams.

I remember admiring a previous air show post of yours @dswigle but this one is crammed full outstanding images and interesting information. It must be a thrill to get that close to such magnificent planes but even more so to see them in action.

It must take many hours of practice to perfect the skill of flying in close precision the way they do. I look forward to seeing what you come up with for Part 2. Have an awesome weekend my friend. (U & R )

Here is my entry:

https://steemit.com/esteem/@trudeehunter/market-friday-the-ice-cream-fair
u0igrgazoj.jpg

Oh you are absolutely right! It takes years of practice and before they even get into that cockpit they have to be a very accomplished flyer to begin with. Competition to get a slump is steep. Believe it or not they have a female on the team, I can remember when it wasn't even a thought that a female should be allowed on the team. Oh how times have changed. The first time I saw a female, I actually had to look twice but not really because it was a huge announcement when it happened. I'm pretty sure that's some politician decided that they needed some diversity which to me is the wrong way to do it but then they never voted the right way to begin with if they excluded females. Now off of that volatile little subject.

I absolutely love watching the show because every year it's something different, even every show is something different although it would be hard for me to keep track of how they do it because I'm always stunned at the level of difficulty in which the shows are produced. In my wildest dreams I can't imagine getting that close to another plane and not crashing it, but for them to go upside down straight up in the air and down into a flat spin well, I am truly in awe. Thank you for taking the time to peruse my post and to support Market Friday the way that you do. It is because of people like yourself that my challenge has survived and going on for nearly two years. So thank you for that and I want to wish you a very wonderful weekend!

Hey. Very impressive photos, dear Denise!
I often find it difficult to take pictures of planes.

They fly so fast that in the photo there is only their
trace on the blue sky.

And you were a very professional photographer.

And this is my new post

Why thank you so much! It is sometimes very difficult to photograph the planes, but I learned how to Pan the camera, so that helps a lot. Oh my, I have never attended an air show! This looks unbelievable, so much to see so much to be proud of. From the 90 year old Tuskegee pilot to the new Air Force recruits, I am speechless. Looks like you had a perfect day @dswigle, so fun :)

Oh, you have no idea what you have been missing! :)

The pilots are quirt amazing, with their split-second timing and their precision movements. We do have a lot to be proud of. It is one of the most complete views of Air Power that the Air Force has in one place. I was so proud of those new recruits and what an honor to get sworn in with the Thunderbird pilots behind you?

The Tuskegee pilot probably could have flown!! He was that fit. And I have a shot of Rosie the Riveter. (one of) She is well into her 90s too.It was awesome! If you ever get a chance, go! You won't regret it.

And thank you! For your kind heart, your lovely comments and for the support you show me. It is truly appreciated!

As always, I wish you a pleasant weekend!

Never seen so many airplanes and fighter jets! Great photos! Your reflexes must be very fast to be able to capture fast moving aircrafts!
Couldn’t imagine being there without ear-plucks! You know so much detail about the aircrafts and fighter jets as if you were once flying in one of those!!

Amazing tight formations displayed by the pilots! They must have very cool nerves!

Posted using Partiko iOS

Well oh, I don't know if my reflexes are fast but they seem to be okay enough to capture some of the planes. The fighter aircraft are pretty amazing and I love watching the maneuvers. A lot of people who have never been on a flight line do not bring earplugs, hence the need for ear plugs to be sold. The formations are always tight and solid and hours and hours of practice have gone into this, perfecting each move. I have been to some of their practices and it is very easy to see when someone is just a fraction of an inch off oh, so you are right in the fact that they have to be amazingly solid. I thank you for such a nice comment and your support in the market Friday challenge. I hope you have an amazing weekend.

Great going! Your aircraft post is really fantastic! I’d like to interview one of those pilots to see if they are really human or a hybrid with an Alien race with incredible sense perceptions!

Posted using Partiko iOS

Hehe! I know quite a few of them and they are just fighter pilots on steroids. The perception and agility come from many hours of practice in the simulator and planes. Don't get me wrong, not everyone can do this, but, it is something you are either cut out to do or not. You cannot "learn" in my opinion.

Trust me. They are just as goofy as you or I once they take off those flight suits. :)

Impressive! Airplanes are some jewelery and are almost nothing in addition to pilots' performance.
All of this mastery in the demonstration emanates strength and power. As I was accustomed to considering the US ... I know that for you this is a delicate subject and many family members are involved. I can only say ... Respect!

My humble blog here, related to earth, water and basic human pleasures:

A Small Fishing In Greece

p0lh6pm1ep.jpg

In actuality oh, it's not a very delicate subject for me. The fact that I have members of my family in the military really have nothing to do with how I feel. I am first and foremost an American and I and not always proud of what goes on in our country however, however I can say that I am proud to be an American. With that I can only speak for my actions. Although I live in Washington DC, I try to stay out of the politics as much as possible because it's an obsession here and people eat sleep and drink it. I have learned how to live life without doing that while I'm here. Having said all that, the air show is fun and the Pilots are highly skilled which is not so much to show the power of the plane but the skill involved. At least that's my take on it.

I wish in my heart that there was no competition to be the biggest or the baddest or the strongest nation in the world, because when it comes right down to it and we are standing before our Maker, will any of that really matter? Anyway Dan, @bluemoon, I hope you are having a most wonderful day and I want to thank you for taking the time to stop in and read my post, and to also Post in the challenge.

Well, before we are in front of the Great Maker, I think it matters where we live, I don't want to compare areas or peoples, but we cannot ignore that we are different and our lives are profoundly influenced by where we live, resources, and civilization.

I remember the Blue Angels from when i was a kid. I loved them and built models of them. I haven't seen the Thunderbirds! I love the color scheme. So much to see here!

Well that's probably because you live in California right? I want to say that you live out that way but I could be wrong. Another reason is because the Navy does a lot more out there than the Air Force does as far as air shows are concerned. The Thunderbirds are just the Air Force's version of the Blue Angels. Same thing different costume.

Every adult has said the same thing. They haven't been to an airshow and I'm very long time. Are they out of style or they just don't have them around much anymore? I guess I'm weird that way because I could watch them again and again and again and then go see them again and again and again. Their precision and death-defying flying raises the hairs on the back of my neck and yet I Can't Take My Eyes Off them. It was a wonderful show and their skills still are awesome. I love the static displays of planes from Years Gone by and probably the most exciting part is they allow you to tour all of the planes now whereas years ago we weren't allowed to. Thank you for taking the time to stop in and leave nice words behind. I hope you have a most fabulous weekend!

#MarketFriday loves you!

!tip

Yes i am in California. I think they may have cut down on shows out here at some point many years ago. They are having them again and i didn't get down to see it. When i was younger they would fly right over the house! That sounds really fun getting to get up close and go in the planes on the ground!

I know, right!?? It was much different years ago, even ten years ago. Some of the planes you could peek in but now the front line fighters. They are all promilitary (once again) and it is good to take advantage of that. :)

You just never know how the wind will blow!

I loved planes (commercial) over my house growing up. I lived in Connecticut, so we got some traffic from JFK and LaGuardia Airport.

Oh, have times changed! :)

I think in the 70's things changed around here and all the services pulled back on public displays. I grew up loving the space program and jets! Things like the X-15 remember that one? Now i'm going way back :) We used have seaplanes that landed in the water and you could fly to Catalina island off the coast of Southern California. I never did get to fly on though : (

Oh, wow! Things have really changed out there, haven't they? I'm from the Connecticut coastline and right out my back yard was Long Island Sound, the Atlantic actually We had the seaplanes landing there to go to all the places like Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Oh, it was a fun childhood!

They don't know what they are missing today! ;)

Hold tight to those memories!

It must be too expensive or something now. I wish i could have gone on one! :)

Thank you very much! :)

My pleasure!

I haven't been to an air show in years, looks like it was a fun day out @dswigle

You know, everybody is saying that. That they have not been in years oh, so I was trying to figure out if there are less air shows now or it is not something that we are interested in doing any more. Or perhaps they're far away or or or. There's many a reason I guess that a lot of people haven't been in a while, however, I can say that it was most enjoyable watching these very talented Pilots go through their . So much skill involved. It was a wonderful day and I was very happy to be able to share it with everyone. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment and I hope that you have a most wonderful weekend!

Ah! You certainly know how to stir my heart Blondie.
These men and their flying machines are indeed great stuff and your descriptions even better.
I really enjoyed this post!
Blessings!

I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed the post. I'm always amazed at the Tactical skills that are employed with these maneuvers. They are so precise and so stoic in their movements. Of course that's why they are chosen for these positions, I just can't imagine what it feels like. Now I can say that I have flown in a high-speed atmosphere, but doing the things that they do, hanging upside down and going at mock snot not speed? I am sure for them it's an adrenaline rush and at the same token I am sure for me it would be a hair-raising experience that I would probably vomit with. But maybe not.

I want to take the time to thank you for stopping by perusing through the post and leaving a generously kind comment. It is because people like you support Market Friday that the challenge is able to keep on going. I appreciate the time spent and I wish you a most wonderful weekend.
