This is the first mobile handheld console device I'm buying ever and the first item of 2022. Well, my dad bought me a gamyboy device or something of that nature in 1998 or the late 1990s. Why would Harrison kill Dexter Morgan of New Blood who saved his life? I have so many thoughts on Dexter, it mostly comes down to how Batman you want to make the character of Dexter, how bad is Dexter and how good is Dexter. People have criticized where they took the show after season one of the original series and it was especially moving into a different direction after roughly season six. On one hand, we can talk all day about what we liked and disliked regarding this ninth season, but on the other hand, it would have been better had Dexter not let his own sister, Debra, die.

It depends on how many seasons back you want to go back to fix things which goes back to the main character archs and general direction you want to take Dexter and the show to. Same thing for Walter White in Breaking Bad which I wouldn't kill him off in the end. I also wouldn't kill off Dexter. But that depends on where the writers and producers and directors and especially the actor, Michael C. Hall, want to take Dexter. If Dexter is more like Batman as mentioned by Harrison, then don't kill him. I mean you can if you want as writers. If Dexter is too bad or too whatever you want to call the complexity of his Dark Passenger or Driver or whatever, then it becomes a question of how you would execute the end of Dexter which Jeremy Jahns talked about. If you decide to kill off Dexter at the end, then you can either make it a surprise or drag it out over the course of several seasons. As you can see in the series finale, they chose the former, to surprise the audience with his death. He said he died so his son could live. That can be a powerful story to tell if ten guys were beating Dexter to death as Harrison slips away to escape at the end of the series. I would not mind having bad people murder Dexter while Harrison runs off. And then Harrison can have a show seeking revenge on the death of his father while also trying to lay low as people find out his dad was a killer.

I would have had Dexter and Harrison run off in the end. I know, eventually they would probably get caught or would they? I always wanted Dexter to be more good like Batman than bad. I imagine most of the people Dexter killed were bad. But Dexter did kill some good people who didn't fit the code and that is too bad. So, I would go back and reboot the show or erase the last five or so seasons and go back and do them better. Harrison didn't want to be alone. Also, Harrison didn't want to leave. But then again, did Harrison kill his step-mom or did Hannah really have cancer and die? Was Harrison lying only to get Dexter to confess his crimes so he could have the excuse to kill Dexter? There is so much I don't know about Harrison.

I wanted Angela to see that Dexter was doing more good than bad. Besides, historically, sheriffs would execute bad people in small towns in the 1800s in America. As a sheriff, Angela should know this. The legal system is messed up which makes Dexter correct in seeking to bring justice to those who slips through the cracks of law. We all have dark passengers which means it is unfair to attack Dexter in the way this show did. The truth is we are all humans and we all have struggles. Angela and Dexter should have talked about it similar to how when Debra found out about Dexter. I think Hanna knew. Some people knew who Dexter was. But Dexter wasn't trying to run around murdering innocent people.

So, having Harrison kill Dexter makes Harrison the bad guy. But at the same time, it also makes Dexter dumb. If Harrison was that lost, then Dexter should have killed Harrison at that moment. But I wouldn't have put those characters in that position at the end in the first place. They ended up putting these two characters in that fork in the road in that final episode. The choices Harrison makes in that final episode depends on the kind of character Harrison is and likewise with Dexter. So, when people debate these things, they should first debate the fundamental essence and character development and foundation to who these characters are before debating the kinds of choices they would make in that kind of situation.

Harrison gave his hands to Angela so he could be arrested. Would the same Harrison who sliced people up at high school suddenly turn around to go to jail for his dad? The answer to that question depends on who Harrison was and is becoming. So, the debate can go either way. But I would have preferred not changing the makeup of his character that abruptly. Dexter shouldn't have killed the black officer, Harrison shouldn't have killed Dexter, and the list goes on and on.

In conclusion, how you end a series depends on the foundation of the premise of the entire show which is Dexter. In my heart, I wanted Dexter to always be or become a dark knight, a real-life version of Batman who had to hide his identity, he had a secret identity. So, I would have Dexter run off to another city and have him grow a beard and change his appearance. I believe the real Dexter Morgan would have knocked his son out and escaped. That is my conclusion. Had the real Dexter been there, he would have slowly walked towards Harrison while talking passionately about himself, his son, life, things that Harrison wanted to hear. Because Harrison was curious and wanted to know. As Dexter got closer, he would have choked Harrison unconscious. Dexter wouldn't have killed the black officer or his son. But he would have escaped. But then again, that depends on who Dexter was in that last episode. It depends on what kind of person Dexter evolved into which can be debated back and forth. And it depends on the kind of story you want to tell and how you would end it. But I would have preferred a story where Dexter was not killed. I believe they like killing off white men and that they did it for shock value on top of that. An attack on white men who are the fathers and pillars to families and society and the world itself.

@Shannon Shifflett, depends on the kind of character Harrison was becoming, the death of Logan was possibly an excuse for him to kill Dexter, it's possible he would have found other excuses to kill his own father who by the way recently saved his life. The choices people made in this 9th season depends on the direction they wanted to take each character. But the real Dexter Morgan would have found a way to escape. Dexter is a master at deception, at sweet talking, at being a smooth criminal, he would have slowly walked up to Harrison while talking or would have started acting crazy. Dexter would have escaped. Perhaps Dexter had a knife in his pocket. He would have thrown the knife at the riffle or would have charged Harrison as the safety was on. Dexter had plenty of time to escape. He just had to knock Harrison and Logan unconscious. The real Dexter wouldn't have killed them. But then again, that depends on where they wanted to take the Dexter character. People can debate which direction to take Dexter into as a character. But I always wanted Dexter to be more like Batman and therefore I would have had Dexter survive and then become a master of disguise with a beard and everything while hiding off in Los Angeles.

What kind of mistakes did Michael Jordan make when returning to play basketball? Mike came back to play for the Wizards and was slower but was smarter. Would Dexter Morgan become slower too? Perhaps. But would Dexter also become sloppier or dumber? My answer would be no. So, it depends on what kind of character Dexter was evolving into. The better question would be would Dexter lose it and accidentally kill Matt? If Dexter was able to lose it that quickly, then perhaps he was holding it all in for ten years and finally exploded. But it depends on who Dexter was and was becoming. I wanted Dexter to be Batman and therefore not die. If Dexter was able to not kill for ten years, then Dexter would have walked away and not killed Matt. But then again, it is possible Matt could have tried to frame Dexter or kill him. But I would have preferred seeing that. I don't want to just see Dexter lose it that abruptly. Let it build up. Make it so Dexter has no choice.

If you're going to bring Dexter back for one season and kill him at the end, then begin the first episode with Dexter in the arms of Harrison and then have the rest of the season be a flashback to help the audience see how it got to that point. You don't even have to show Harrison. You could just have Dexter and you know he is dying but don't know why or how.

I wouldn't have killed off Dexter and they chose to make his death a surprise to the audience which can cause some Game of Thrones type shock and awe. It can work but I would have focused more on focusing on the death of Dexter and how it got to that point. At the same time, you could also dive into telling the story of Harrison in order to set him up for a spin-off show, perhaps. But ten episodes is not a lot of time to do both. Choosing to just throw Dexter off a cliff like that can be dramatic or silly. If done right, it could have been even better. I felt nothing when Dexter died. It was not moving. It was not believable. I didn't believe it. It took me out of the show.

I don't think Dexter is a monster. I disagree with that. Dexter had emotions for different people including Hannah and Harrison.

@No Name 52, I don't think a sociopath would have a code to only murder bad people. Sociopaths kill good people, innocent people. And Dexter rarely did that.

Harrison killing his own dad is worse than many of the things Dexter did.

An excuse to all of this might be that Harrison is a terrible guy who killed Hannah and wanted any excuse he could get to murder his dad who he hated the entire time, that Harrison was faking it the whole time to get Dexter to confess to crimes so Harrison could feel justified in murdering him. But that depends on what kind of character Harrison was and was becoming and I would have rather not make his character that messed up. But that is the conclusion I got. But Dexter would have known his own son was that lost. Besides, in season one of the original series, Dexter executed his own brother who lost it. Therefore, if Harrison lost it, Dexter would have put that dog down too.

Start this 9th season off with the Dexter death scene or fragments therein, tease it and then slowly catch up the audience to help them see how it got to that point, focusing on just that main plot and let it breathe.

Agreed, that first episode was terrible.

I saw Dexter as the good guy. So, I didn't want to see Dexter say he didn't want to kill bad people.

It looks like Dexter Morgan decided to let his son, Harrison, kill him in that episode as a way to take the blame. I wouldn't have killed off Dexter at all. But if I did, not like this.

But part of the logic appears to be that Dexter saw how much Harrison was blaming everything on Dexter regardless of whatever the truth might have been. It could be argued Dexter felt like he was making the best choice possible. Things started going down in season 2 of the original series and I would go back and fix so many things. But it depends on which overall direction you want to take the series and it also depends on what kind of character Dexter was and is becoming.

If Dexter is as bad as they say, then Dexter would not let his son kill him, if Dexter had no feelings or whatever the case and nuance there might be. But at the same time, if Dexter was good enough, he would not want to abandon his son this way perhaps. Therefore, the writers might have concluded that Dexter would be somewhere in the middle of those extremes of being Hannibal (bad) and Batman (good). So, the logic might be that Dexter was evolving or devolving and therefore losing his ability to make critical decisions in the heat of the moment like he used to.

So, in other words, it might be said that Dexter was feeling things for Harrison, that Dexter was having all of these different feelings regarding everyone, that he was between a rock and a hard place, that he somewhat froze when Harrison pointed the riffle at him.

Younger Peak Dexter would have charged Harrison as the safety was on, acted crazy, sweet talk Harrison like a smooth criminal slowly walking towards him to wrestle the riffle out of his hands, or variations and combinations therein. Sadly, Angela was not far behind meaning not a lot of time for much to happen.

But I can say if Dexter was trying to save Harrison from his own Dark Passenger by having Harrison blame Dexter so that Dexter would become Harrison's personification of his Dark Passenger so Harrison could then symbolically execute or murder his Dark Passenger to end the cycle of violence. So, if that was spinning around in Dexter's head, then I would understand that perspective. I can get it. I can appreciate it a little. He did say in the narration that he was willing to die so his son could live.

But at the same, I believe Dexter was wrong to let Harrison kill him. I believe Harrison could still go on to kill more people or whatever. On one hand, a Good Dexter abandoned his own son. But on the other hand, an Evil Dexter wouldn't even let his own brother (see season one of the original series) get the best of him.

@Daniel Strain, I agree that was a major concern for Dexter throughout all nine seasons. Perhaps Dexter felt death was the best option to somewhat help his son. I would disagree but I can see where he would be coming from.

Great theory. Harrison appeared to have been pretending to understand why Dexter kills by comparing him to Batman. But perhaps Harrison was angry the entire time and was setting it all up to murder him at the end which not even Dexter's brother was able to do.

The rest of the worms to the backyard, new hills. Swapped red flags over to them. Snow hill by wheel barrows melted away in the rain last night. Two snow hills remain in the front yard. Amazon check. I've linked to future articles, posts, web-pages, websites, URL links, which I've not written yet or have not published online yet. But you can also try swapping out the domain name part of the link with a different one. For example, the domain I'm currently focused on (as of 2020) is Hive . blog. That is not case-sensitive meaning it can be hIVe . blog or HivE . BLoG. In other words, it doesn't matter which letters are capitalized (uppercase) or not (lowercase). Also, the domain has no spaces in it, meaning hive . blog becomes hive.blog. Depending on the website, following the domain can be the username. So, in this case, it's forward-slash at (@) username. My username is joeyarnoldvn. Some websites skips that at symbol part (generally if they're not a blockchain-style site, they skip the at symbol part in the URL) and goes directly to the username. Some websites may include the web-page section of the link first followed by the domain name. With Hive Blog, it begins with Hive.blog, it follows with the username, and then it ends with the web-page link or section which is generated based off the title of the post. So, if my link doesn't work, try swapping out hive.blog for example peakd . com or ecency . com or steemit . com or you can try other domain names and websites and pages and URLs and sites and links and hyperlinks and everything and anything else you can imagine too, as well. You can also try googling or searching via Duck Duck Go, Bing, Yandex, Yahoo, Google, other search engines, the title of the post in quotation marks, add a space followed with a plus-sign (+), add another space followed with my username in quotation marks. If that doesn't work, you can remove the quotation marks and try other keywords and combinations therein. Be creative and try many different search engines and different domain names. Also, feel free to host, mirror, copy, paste, download, steal, share, etc, any of my posts, videos, photos, memes, articles, links, anything that I publish, post, share, upload, etc. LEARNING ENGLISH IN SAIGON.
