Fear rarely protects you from anything, and instead, it offers you a mental comfort blanket.
Being an asparagus comes with many challenging issues.
But it's not all bad.
One the most commonly seen attributes of being an asparagus, is a perceived lack of empathy (not the same as not caring).
It's more of a 'very selective caring'.
My lack of empathy is generally motivated by seeing idiots who are too idiotic, to know that they're idiots.
I've spent far too long trying to help these people until finally accepting - realizing - that they cannot be helped.
At least not in a direct way - which is bloody frustrating for an asparagus - who likes nothing more than to confront shit, and get it sorted!
They do not posses the mental wherewithal to be even able comprehend that people are trying to help.
Sad but true.
And yet, it has nothing to do with mental wherewithal!
It's NOT about IQ (or any kind of 'intelligence').
....It's about courage.
Once I'd reached this conclusion in my own mind I simply stopped caring about the cowards.
You can't fix other people's stupid cowardice.
Only they can do that...
Know thyself.
You CAN , however, express your own courage - in the hopes that the cowards will see it, and learn from it.
You CAN act in ways that may possibly inspire others to ditch their fears, and instead, be strong.
Those that don't use your example as inspiration to grow - will hate you for your courage.
It eats into their subconscious, never sleeping - because , deep down, they know that they're running away.
It's what cowards do.
They know that they're 'being less' than their own potential.
They know that they don't possess what the courageous have.
They envy.
And their envy of you will eat away at them until it's either addressed or they implode into a vortex of narcissistic self pity.
A courageous person will live rent free in the heads of the cowards, you see, gnawing at them continually - and they will despise you for being able to reside in their heads, uninvited.
They will blame you for their own weaknesses.
(psychologically speaking, it's projection and transference).
Fear creates stupid.
Fear of looking inferior.
Fear of looking, or being, wrong.
Fear of being socially ostracized.
All these are fears that prevent you from ever being you.
To paraphrase Marcellus Wallace from 'Pulp Fiction' fame...
" That voice that you can hear?..That's fear, fucking with your head...Fuck fear "
...get rid of your own fears and insecurities, and get rid of your own stupidity.
Then we can talk.
There's nothing attractive in the 'quality' of cowardice, or in the people that express it to the world.
They are , in my opinion, the epitome of ugly, characterless, and empty vessels.
What is cowardice ?
Fear.
What is stupidity?
Letting your unaddressed fears blind you to a much bigger, far more colorful experience, called life!
When you're unafraid of being wrong, and when you're unafraid of looking like a fool, and when you're unafraid of others people's opinion of you ...
