Splinterlands blew up hive today! This is what I like seeing and the projects I support. This crazy influencer marketing pitching for 100k has proved worthless so far IMO. Let me just say I hope I don't see another one of those proposals pass.

I'd love to instead see proposals for...

  • Building a better Hive code to support smart contracts etc
  • Some small support to successful tribes that are working hard and in fact brining in new people
  • More games
  • More Swap options (maybe even a DeFi platform if Hive can support it in the blocks)
  • Other more productive things

By creating useful and powerful applications like this they naturally bring in investors and people. Your existing userbase promotes it. I legit just hate seeing so much get wasted let's be better!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's so cool. Splinterlands is bringing so much value to the Hive Ecosystem!

By creating useful and powerful applications like this they naturally bring in investors and people. Your existing userbase promotes it.

We need a referral rewards system in these apps that would automatically incentivize existing users to invite their friends and family.

I am sure many users will promote these awesome apps and earn a full-time income doing it.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There is a built in reward system. If you are hodling Hive, the growth is a payoff to you.

The same is true for Leofinance or any other application.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's true. But I think people should be incentivised to bring in more people and be there to mentor them for months. Learning curve is huge although it gets a lot easier once you understand everything.

Just imagine if a big influencers promotes his referral link and make a video about it. We do not need to reach them and pay them for marketing. They can get rewarded using the referral system in place.

There are other dApps or services on Hive which deserve love, too. Hive List and xCx Music are examples I encountered recently while working on anothe project. Hive List is a good idea as an e-commerce platform, but it needs more buzz and love. xCx Music seemd to be doing better, but word needs to get out.

If Hive is the gateway to Web 3.0, we need as many replacements for Big Tech apps as possible and we should market the hell out of them in our own ways.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

What's the token or site like for xCx Music first time hearing of that one thanks

My mistake-- it's cXc Music.

This is what the cXc Music whitepaper says about tokens:

This repo will cover cXc.world's economy, called Purple, made of the tokens PURPLE, BLU, BLUX, and SOL...

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thanks! Appreciate it

UPDATE -- correct name is cXc Music (not xCx Music). My mistake.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Hive list is a cool idea and I agree it needs more buzz

Never heard of cXc Music though. I'll check it out

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The promotion of Hive was stupid from the beginning. Why are you trying to promote a backend which is what Hive blockchain truly is. Yes there is blogging but that is of little interest to most internet users.

It was always going to be the layer 2 that was going to get the attention, not the promotion of Hive.

A total waste of money as you said.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's true... Hive as a backend might be appealing to developers, but for the general public, it doesn't mean much. It's the applications built on it that are going to bring them over

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Correct. For developers it could be a great marketing piece but for the average person, he or she could care less.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thank you. That is exactly what I was thinking when I read That!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It was always going to be the layer 2 that was going to get the attention, not the promotion of Hive.

Thats true. We've seen how Leo made it happen and is still getting more people to hive everyday through different project and also the ones thats coming in the future.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Leofinance, Splinterlands, and a host of others can really draw some attention. We just need to see things promoted.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Was this the reason why the chain was so slow in the morning? I got tired of seeing the errors and stuff for things to get working.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yep, I always question how much Hive can really scale because whenever something blows up we seem to have the same error issues at other block chains.

I'm still experiencing it being slower than usual with errors popping up now only once and a while.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Same here man
Switching nodes helped a bit, but didn't solve it completely

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Here it's still not 100%, sometimes it gives an error in the vote and in the comment. But in a little while it will be normal.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Same, my friend

I tried a few different nodes on my keychain and that seems to have helped a bit

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Today it's still a bit messed up but it's enough to comment.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The rewards from Splinterlands are blowing my mind

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The interesting thing is that it's at the very beginning, a lot will still happen.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea things were wonky all over

It's good to see that project taking off thou

Apple is both a partner and a competitor for banks. The lenders, several of which had an unsuccessful battle with the tech giant last decade, pay Apple an undisclosed fee in return for being able to provide its payment service Apple Pay.

Really interesting dynamic has formed between banks and Apple.

For context, Australia has 4 big banks that after surviving the GFC, now pretty much own every smaller bank in the market.

Commonwealth Bank is the biggest of the 4.

Just find it a little ironic that they're talking about keeping a market competitive.

But this quote still shocked me and made me lol at the same time:

“The thought that a single provider could have 80 per cent market share in an individual market is usually cause for concern. I’d be the first to say they make fantastic products, but this is a company that’s market cap is double Australia’s gross domestic product,” Mr Comyn said.

'ugeeee!

Neither the banks or Apple want whats best for society.

They have an obligation to their shareholders and that's it.

I hate how it's framed like either are the good guys.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Apple is quickly turning into a cancer.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea, that's one of the reasons I'll never get an iPhone

Not that other big techs are much better, but at least they aren't as overpriced

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I recently sold my iPhone for an affordable android which can serve me better.

It's all about choice and what you are using your phone for. If its blogging then iPhone isn't part of it. Just the way I see it tho

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

True
I'm not a heavy mobile user so I don't really need anything fancy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I hate how it's framed like either are the good guys.

It's like the tag line for Alien versus Predator: "Whoever wins, we lose."

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea and I have heard people preaching about the Apple card. I don't exactly want one either.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Splintershards is now bigger than Hive in marketcap. It's only Day 1!!! This is what I'm expecting for LEO!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

@splinterlands has been an absolute blessing to the entire HIVE Blockchain! No one can deny that fact.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The demand for game is so high servers are barely keeping up. I had to write a rant on how well Splinterlands is doing. I din't think Hive Dapps are even ready for real success. When people discover value of Hive - there's going to be million coming aboard.

that is a huge move. what is the reason for this huge jump if I may ask?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Hype! Splinterlands ranks #1 in so many metrics for blockchain games. This is the biggest expansion from the game yet. There's staking rewards & tons of other stuff at work. Traders see potential. You can read my post https://leofinance.io/@d-zero/it-s-only-day-1-of-dao-airdrop-and-splinterlands-is-worth-2x-hive-i-m-making-almost-usd200-day

When Yahtzee! and UNO come to Hive (or some other blockchain), I'll start playing blockchain games.

Having said that, Splinterlands can take the NFT craze to a higher level, or NFTs can bring Splinterlands to a higer level. Either way, it's looking good for both Splinterlands and NFTs.

Do we think the SPS hype is going to last for a while or fizzle out? What is your estimate? Weeks? Days? Months?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I can't really say because I don't know the first thing about Splinterlands... but blockchain gaming is really hyped right now and I hear that Splinterlands is actually a nice game so maybe it can last for a while

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is a pretty cool game. I has kept my interest for 3+ years which is saying something I think!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Definitely! I believe a lot of games don't make it past the first year or so, so that says something indeed

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

@splinterlands has a pretty good track record so far. I know that @jongolsen is bullish on the investment aspect of the game, and he is a pretty smart guy. He talked about it for some time on yesterdays Crypto Maniacs Podcast.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well I think it might take weeks or months to fizzle out. Right now the DEC you earn per match is kind of high.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The airdrop itself is set to last close to a year I think. I am not sure it will sustain that long though.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Anyone get their SPS drop?

Where is it dropped? Does it go to one's Splinterland account or on Hive-Engine?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I did, I claimed mine by logging into the game and clicking on the SPS icon in the top menu just right of the DEC count. This opens a new popup which will show you how much you earned. You can then claim it.

Holding off myself on pushing it to stake till Aug 1st since it wont earn in staking till Aug. 2nd

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Oh I didn't realize that. I staked yesterday's airdrop.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

No worries it's going to be here soon enough :)
Q3 will also introduce earning some SPS for playing daily battles, brawls and more it's pretty involved but the biggest earns are Airdrop and Staking so you'll do well. White paper on that is here > https://sps.splinterlands.com/rewards looks like monthly amounts as well.

I got mine. I bought some DEC and SPT about a month ago. With the run up in price I pulled out my initial investment but am still left with a nice stake, of both.

Now I just have to take the time to read the "How to Play" guide so I can figure out how to pay the damn game.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Now I just have to take the time to read the "How to Play" guide so I can figure out how to pay the damn game

That will be a great idea. Am also presently in the learning phase after fighting few battles

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You claim in on your Splinterlands account.

SPS button

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Not me, didn't get involved before... might do it now thou

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I just did it. And, of course, I played the damn game!!! Unbelievable. I raced through the daily quest by going 5 for 5 without having much clue what I was doing but...I better not get hooked!!! Or I'm blaming you!! lol

I did manage to get 7.533 of the SPS tokens dropped to me. Do I have to claim them daily or will they just stack up and I can claim them whenever? Anybody know?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Do you use another Hive account to play #Splinterlands? 🤔 I could not see your cards at https://peakmonsters.com/@dagger212/collection. 🕵️‍♂️😅

All I have are the ones they gave me at the beginning so....don't know what to tell you. I'm a complete newbie as far as anything dealing with that game goes. I lost my first two "practice" battles because I couldn't figure out how to start. lol

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Many things are difficult when you do them the first time. 😂

the ones they gave me at the beginning

Do you mean those that they let you use (not necessarily transfer ownership to you)? 🤔😀

I will say I was lucky/smart enough to buy about 33000 DEC a month ago for a total of 133 HIVE and I just checked and could sell it today for 655 HIVE. So about a 5x over the last month not factoring in the price of HIVE. Plus I'm now getting the airdrop so...I managed to hop on the train before it got moving too fast. Would have been even smarter to buy some of those packs but...oh well. Live and learn.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You got 7+ SPS tokens, but I got only 4+ of them, even after I played more than 8 months and collected hundreds of cards. 🤯

How much DEC do you have? I got most of my SPS for having 33k DEC and 33k SPT. In fact, I got ALL of my SPS for owning those since I don't have any extra cards or NFTs or land or whatever....

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I don't stack DEC right now, since I trade them for HIVE right away since its value is way above its pegged price of $0.001 per 1 DEC. 😅

It goes to one's #Splinterlands account, though they have to be manually claimed first in-game. 😀

Maybe this has the potential for us to recommend for newbie investors to follow? I don't know for sure, but I'll try to keep watching it to see.

Here's a nice overview on the effect of Splinterlands on json transactions on Hive blockchain

https://leofinance.io/@dalz/splinterlans-is-pushing-the-number-of-custom-json-transactions-on-hive-to-ath-levels

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea I wonder if it will push more people to stake HIVE to play.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Having so many #Splinterlands transactions (used to be for battling only, but now for renting cards too) was one of the reasons why my Resource Credits ran out so quickly. 😅

I hope so! It can be a great gateway into Hive

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is a great report of what is taking place.

Blocktivity.info is showing a lot of progress on that end too. Hive up to #7.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's great news

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It shows how robust our blockchain is. Sustainability? Our core developers, @blocktrades and friends, have it covered! For that, they deserve a big Thank you!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea, that's what I think too!

Important milestone for us if you ask me

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

They are impressive, but I still see that these numbers will be even higher. With the implementation of the lands maybe it's a game changer.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I agree with you buddy

I think I should get in Splinterlands... wish I joined sooner but better late than never I guess

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You're absolutely right, go there and create an account I'll give you all the support. If you want I can send you some cards to help you in the beginning.

I thought so too and at the time I joined after the Alpha cards and today they are worth hundreds of dollars. But the Legion of Chaos is coming. More cards to collect and you could have a lot of chances to be rewarded well. Will also come the expansion of lands ... waste time friend and let's play hahaha ..

I was wondering when it makes sense for someone to set voting power to a small percentage (say, 5%).

One situation would be when someone has a large amount of Hive Power (or Leo Power here) and needs to scale down voting power to make sure the upvote is still a good amount. The veterans here know what I'm talking about.

Another situation would be if voting power is close to being depleted. That would be more common for someone in my situation where my HP/LP is in 3 digits.

I'm asking because I've been seeing a large number of upvotes set at 5% yet the HP over the voters is barely at dust threshold or beneath it. Most of these upvotes come from new Hivers, but some come from Steemian-era Hivers who haven't been active on the blog side in a long time.

Once day I want to adjust my voting percentage to a small number because my HP is large; I'm not there yet, so I still keep at at 100%.

There could be some curation trails I picked up in recent weeks, in which case people may not even know about their voting power percentages.

What other situations make it understandable to set voting power to 5%?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Good point. It's like you get 200 votes and have like 0.43 as payout. It's kind of like as good as no vote.

i think i have a similar goal with my pob stake since it is growing a lot faster than I expect and hopefully on leo. since I get my pob stake to the point I want I follow most of my resources on leo.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Stay consistent with your posting at LeoFinance and PoB, and your overall earnings will increase and you can stake more.

My Layer 1 earnings are good enough for a day on the town, but may Layer 2 earnings (mostly LEO and POB) are 5 times my Layer 1 earnings. Now it feels strange when I post or comment using Ecency/PeakD/Hive.Blog.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You might want to split up your comments into several smaller comments! 😏

Specifically, set your main comment as the top-level comment, then break down your paragraphs into separate comments below the top one. 🤓 That way, you would promote more engagement because users here on #LeoMarketTalk would find it easy to read your statements and choose which ones to reply to. 😅

For comments that turn out to be epic I already turn those into their own posts.

Different topics get their own comments.

If everything in the comment is intertwined, the comment has to stay whole. No one likes to read 20-line paragraphs (especially on mobile), so I break up paragraphs into smaller pieces.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

For example, perhaps you want to separate the "I'm asking because..." as a comment under your top-level comment. 🤔🤓

Regarding your recommended voting power percentage, I have a unique way of voting. 😅 For my favorite authors, I often vote at 100%; for posts or comments that are not bad, I normally vote at 1% (now at 5% so that @dustsweeper will pick up my dust votes and sweep them for me and let the recipient of my vote get at least $0.013 total author rewards), usually to indicate that I have read the comment and I find it okay or better. 😀

Since I said that it is better to split a comment into multiple ones, I have separated my replies to your (top-level) comment into two (or probably more). 😅

Very good question. Never really thought about it as I just vote the way I want to vote. 🐬

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

In your case, you know what you're doing. You're controlling not only what to reward the author but also the curation reward you earn for your upvote.

Many people, mostly new Hivers but not necessarily, are just going on autopilot and in the process cheating themselves of earnings. It's leaving money on the table, and in the case of new Hivers trying to get themselves established it's taking longer than necessary to pass the dust threshold.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is why I used to suggest all the time for new folks to check out @theterminal. The team has devoted themselves to helping new users to navigate STEEM, HIVE and Discord. They have been doing it for a number of years. They are a great bunch of folks.

There are many more folks. The most unintentional secret on the blockchain. Yet the team is gold to a person that is new.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's not an issue as far as it goes, but the bug could cause a cascade which would indirectly affect the privacy functionality of Monero. That, or something could piggyback off that bug to wreak havoc.

I'm just guessing on both points, but bugs like that need to be fixed sooner while people know about it. If the development team forgets about this bug, it can come back later in a more harmful way.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

All these bugs projects have. They need to spray some **WindexTM on them bugs!

Perhaps using #HivePay (https://hivepay.io) to sell (unneeded) game NFTs - like #RisingStar and #Splinterlands (not right now) - is a good idea, because you can set the prices of your NFTs pegged to the U.S. dollar, and the buyer can choose HIVE, HBD, or any Hive Engine tokens you allow as payments, whose amount is set depending on how much they are in terms of USD. 🤔

HivePay is a neat plugin that can work with any website.

I am glad you are posting some about it.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

My biggest problem using #HivePay is about choosing what to sell! 😅

That would still mean you have to manually transfer the NFTs to the buyers.

I am not familiar with Hive Pay. I heard something about them but since I am not looking to buy or sell anything, I have never had reason to see what they offer.

Will have to check out @hivepay-io at some point.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

#HivePay is mostly used by sellers and developers on Hive. 😄

Question.
Do you play any good blockchain game?
Is there any good game on HIVE or any other blockchain that does not have much learning curve?

The very simple ones in my opinion are Rabona and Rising Star.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Rabona is another one people seem to really like. Same with Cryptobrewmaster.

Both are easy to get started.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think Rising Star is a good place to start. Its free and there are quite a bit of free giveaways going on each day. Its basically clicking every once in a while when you have energy.

Splinterlands is a good game but I think the learning curve might be a bit hard to get use to. You might lose a bunch of fights and you need to buy a spellbook to get started.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I agree - Rising Star is the easier bet.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Rising Star is pretty straightforward.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The only ones I play on Hive are Rising Star, which is very straightforward and eXode, but it's still hasn't been fully released and there is quite a learning curve to it

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

i used to play splinterland but i did not have much time for games so I donated my cards to my brother. But splinterland is a nice game and quite easy to play. you can try it out

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There are a number of games I would suggest that are part of the HIVE Blockchain Network. In no particular order:

You can see a fairly complete list of available games built on our blockchain (HIVE) on State of the DAPPS.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Can anyone offer a summarised explainer on these tokens?

How different are they to Hive-Engine tokens which allow us to build tokenised communities here on Hive?

Really intrigued by learning the differences here as it's a perfect marketing angle for Hive if presented well.

Then tried to borrow his way out of it, promising 'investors' an early look at some centralised scammy project that never eventuated.

Yikes.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Heh that's why I don't like to rely on influencers for anything.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sounds like a ponzi scheme with the promises.

Tidal turbine in the UK starts to export power to the grid.

This is an interesting way to generate energy. The tides are forever ebbing and flowing. So it makes sense to use it for energy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Very interesting indeed. It's a very challenging engineering feat too. I wonder if we'll see more projects like this in the future

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Tidal energy was green energy before "green energy" became a thing. Maybe tidal energy (along with geothermal) can solve the energy consumption problem associated with Bitcoin and other high-powered cryptocurrencies. East coast of Canada has insane tides, so that would be one place to install mining rigs.

Facebook leading the race to the Metaverse is not a good thing

Facebook is an easy company to hate. Sadly, they are committed to bring the Metaverse about, something that we need to fight tooth and nail.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think it's easier for Facebook to take the lead in bringing about the Metaverse. I mean they have the numbers in terms of followers and users.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is Zuckerberg's mindset. They have the users so they just need to develop the infrastructure and push everyone into Oculus headsets.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Here is a good video that talks about the Metaverse

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Dr. Willie Soon is one of the few climate scientists who is not part of the agenda.

He says it is going to get very cold over the next 30 years. His work is studying 400 years worth of solar activity. The sun is the big variable.

And it is not screaming warming. What happens to all those depending upon solar when the sun is in a "sleep" phase? There will be a lot less to convert.

I am glad I live near a nuke plant.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's a good thing right? I mean global warming means heat so a cold world has to be a good thing.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Not really. Humanity does better with heat, it doesnt fare so well with cold. People do not realize the implications of this cooling that could be on its way. If it rivals the Maunder Minimum from a few hundred years ago, things will be bad.

Energy and food will be a problem.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am glad I live near a nuke plant.

Are you sure that nuke plant isn't on top of a burial ground?

Within the last few years sunspot activity has been minimal, more so than at other such periods. Usually things get active on Earth at those times.

Regarding climate, historically civilizations tend to flourish during warmer climates. When the temperatures drop, it gets more difficult for people reliant on that warmer climate. During the 8 centuries of the Roman Republic then Empire, Rome was on thhe upswing when it was warmer and on the decline when it was cooler. It may have been the same with Ancient Egypt, but I don't know enough to say either way.

As much impact as humanity has on the climate, forces far greater than humanity influence climate in ways we can't even begin to imagine.

The concept of the Metaverse keeps spreading. This is something that people need to start paying attention to.

Facebook even decided it is going to transform into a Metaverse Company.

The next internet is the Metaverse.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I wonder how much profit they'll generate from stealing data that way and how they'll go about it? Ads are going to take a totally new dimension.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Speaking of stealing data, don't forget about those companies which analyze people's DNA to determine their ancestry. Who owns that data? Web 3.0 needs to solve that problem.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am a white boy raised by Puerto Ricans and White folks. I know my ancestry (Norwegian, Irish and a little Anglo-Saxon, German with a smattering of Dutch) but what does it matter?

My 2d cousin was the President of the USA (John Adams) and I have a pretty impressive pedigree. Does not really matter. I am still white trailer park trash and don't care who knows it! 🤣

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

But can you monetize the DNA data for your own purposes? Web 2.0 won't allow for that.

Then there are other data contained in your DNA such as recessive genes and any mutations which took place along the way to your creation as a human being.

Finding out details about your ancestry in the way those companies advertise sounds cool, but at what cost? What do you have to give up to get that data? What do those companies get from that data apart from what they advertise? What else can they do with that data without your knowledge and without your permission?

It reminds me of that episode from Star Trek: The Next Generation where Worf finds himself face to face with the spiritual leader of his people in the flesh. He had promised a return to the Klingons just as we have The Second Coming here. It turns out that the spiritual leader Worf met was cloned from genetic material left behind by the original. Technically, the promise to return had been kept-- but knowledge of how that was done would be distasteful to the population.

What would these "DNA companies" do with the DNA we gleefully submit, and what would it cost us apart from local currency?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sometimes, things become self-fulfilling prophecies.

Since @taskmaster4450le has done so much for so many and started our little club here, I decided to pay it forward...

I have delegate a few cards to @taskmaster4450le's Death Group. It will help with getting some SPS as well as help with him playing!

Exciting things are happening my friends!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well they wont be stealing it since it would be on their system.

They started with ads on their VR headsets and everyone got upset. Their model isnt going to work going forward.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We talked about it on here but it is spreading.

According to a survey of 2,700 office workers across nine countries carried out by the polling firm Ipsos, more than a third of all office workers would quit if they were forced to go back into the office full time. The study interviewed workers from the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Russia, India, China and Australia.

Workers will quit if forced to go back into office full time.

This is a really good sign that people are standing up to these corporations.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Companies will not want them to follow the "new norm". If only these people could know about cryptography, no doubt they wouldn't even be that worried about being fired.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Cryptocurrency is going to be the answer for a lot of people. This provides people with an alternative and a means of having a fallback option.

I wish all would come to Hive and start building their nest egg. It would only help them down the road.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Let this happen as soon as possible. Hive is the key to success.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

...and folks call me antisocial. Sheesh! 🙄

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Does anyone know what did Blizzard do? I don't follow them close so I have no idea what happened. Whatever it is, it made a lot of people upset, though, as workers will stage a walkout. It has something to do with sexual harassment, but I don't know the details

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You may find this chart by Pew Research of interest.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea, that makes sense, since they suffer more from it I guess

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm not on top of the matter, but I believe this strike is the quick response found by employees as bosses have not taken action on this harassment issue. Unfortunately this exists everywhere and it's just now having some media relevance. May those responsible be punished.

Alphabet also had a great Q2. YouTube is still pulling big numbers, which is impressive for a product that old.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea Youtube seems to be the metric most people are focusing on. It seems like they are pulling quite a bit away from Disney and Netflix.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I watch a lot of the free movies on YouTube®. My pet love bird, Rocky, is watching nature sounds now in the other room. He loves them nature videos.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Cassie, a bipedal robot ran a 5k in a little under an hour. Quite impressive for a robot. It was funded by the DoD so it's probably going to be weaponized in the future, but it's still progress.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wow, it's so cool. Look at Cassie learning to climb stairs ✌

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Quite impressive for a robot!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Quite impressive for a robot!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

So much stuff is funded by the DoD. It's scary - pretty soon they'll be weaponizing our breakfast cereal.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You, sir, said a mouthful. Ever have Marine Corps Coffee? That stuff will make your whole body stand up and salute! 💥

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

hahaa never, but now I'm curious to try

Do you still have contacts in the corps? :P

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Short answer? Yes. A former Colonel of Marines who is now a rancher. Another Officer of Marines, a retired Lieutenant General who later became the CEO of Colt Firearms, and loads of my fellow enlisted folks who I loved like an older brother loves his younger brothers.

I may make a post about all of these phenomenal people that so left an imprint on my life. Currently they work in so many different fields of endeavor. Not surprising. We often said in the Corps, Adapt and overcome. Difficult, but these folks I mentioned above, for the most part, have done just that!

From the rank of Private to a Staff Sergeant of Marines, I am no more than those that have influenced me. Just as all of you gals and guys influence me now!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I wouldn't be surprised if all we eat are pills in the future. Of course funded by DoD research.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

A lot of the tech we have today was funded by DoD. I remember GPS when they first started sending the satellites up in the late '80s early '90s. We used the tech in the sandbox during the Gulf War.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Shkreli had a album sold to pay off his fraud charges. They didn't show how much but it looks like it did cost a decent amount.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

These are strong accusations, lucky for him to be able to sell the album to help him pay his bail.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Shopify allows merchants to sell NFTs directly through their storefronts. I believe people would be better off learning how to do stuff directly on the blockchain, but this could be a gateway.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well...I don't really like Shopify and I also prefer a transparent block chain.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is cool. If Shopify can provide multiple blockchain options, it will be a game-changer for them. They do provide a better user experience and lots of flexibility to set up a quick online store and operate it.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea that's the key point. Blockchain still lacks a good user experience so many services capitalize on that

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I also see it as a kind of bridge for new people to start learning about NFTs, but certainly as we know, the best way would be on the blockchain.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

A good article on Hive and the future of blockchain.

It is actually a decent promotional piece. Please give it some love.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I've already checked it out there, it's good that more people can have this vision for the future. Blockchain will have a lot more place in the world soon and Hive won't miss this party. We will all benefit.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I found it simple and understandable. Thanks for sharing.

@forexbrokr

Dane:

I was thinking (I know, scary thing). And I figured I better throw this your way before I forget (I'm getting older, you know).

Anyway, with all the talk about CBDC's, would it not be wise for the guide to publish something on stablecoins - at least on the two bigger ones (Tether and USDC)? Plus there is always the more interesting one - Ampleforth.

Just my two cents by way of suggestion for maybe the near future. I already started working on LINK Pros and Cons.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The only reason I've avoided them, is because I thought they'd be lame.

But your pitch with CBDCs in the news makes sense so I guess that's next.

I was also thinking we can add some more layers to our guides now that we have some content.

For example all of our individual coin guides are layer 3.

But we could also add a layer for what type of coin they are.

Something like this:

  • What is cryptocurrency?
    • What are memecoins?
      • What is Dogecoin?
      • What is SafeMoon?
    • What are Stablecoins?
      • What is Tether?
      • What is USDC?

There is literally endless content potential for the @crypto-guides account.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm now fixated with thinking about an interesting, non-boring (and non-lame) way to approach stablecoins.

  1. Call the Section "What Are Stablecoins" and title the 1st subsection the same explaining fiat backed, commodity backed, and algorithmic stablecoin mechanics there.
  2. Then do a subsection on Tether with A BIT of History and A FEW SPECIFIC Facts. Then repeat this for:
  3. USDC
  4. BUSD
  5. A commodity-backed stablecoin (I can't think of one off the top of my head - sucks to get old), and
  6. Ampleforth

The meat is in the first subsection and the specifics are short - maybe two or three paragraphs about the specific coin.

Just throwing it out there. Think about it- its your decision.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is all good stuff.

I've saved this one in my notes and It'll help figure out the structure when the time comes :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm glad it wil be of some help. I thought I was just being a pain in your ass. (LOL)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I see your point. That could also get us into another big area that's been avoided. - DeFi Platforms. I mean we covered Binance and Ethereum (I know, they are Exchanges, but you know what I mean, I hope), but what about the bigger ones like: PANCAKESWAP, SUSHISWAP, QUICKSWAP, POLYCAT, and separately THORSWAP?

Just brining up the possibilities boss.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yep, a few more:

  • What are DeFi platforms?
    • What is Cub Finance?
    • What is PancakeSwap?
    • What is SushiSwap?
  • What are privacy coins?
    • What is Monero?
    • What is Zcash?

Again, endless content potential.

How we're building out all this content slowly and naturally (in Google's eyes) is perfect.

It's always going to be a long term play and it's going exactly how it should be :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Works for me. It will keep me busy and out of trouble.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Just a detail on Ampleforth...

Starting July 2021, Publish0x switched from paying authors in ETH to Ampleforth. The first posting I make on Publish0x (I have no idea when) will get me Ampleforth; I would need to go elsewhere to get my ETH fix.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

For a long time both Eth and Ampleforth were offered by Publish0x. Then they added Farm (now iFarm) and there were three available payments. Not only did they stop Eth rewards they cut the amount of all the remaining rewards in half.

Ampleforth was NOT substituted in place of Ethereum as you state!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I forgot about iFarm. Good catch.

I must have misread these two paragraphs from the notice Publish0x made to its members:

All of the tips in the next period on Publish0x will be in AMPL and iFARM, where the chance will be equal that you will get a tip in either of the two tokens.

That means that ETH is no longer used as a tipping token, as of now. You can withdraw your ETH between now and the 28th of June, 2021. On Tuesday, the 29th of June, the remaining ETH will be converted to it's corresponding $USD value in AMPL.

(Emphasis in original post)

For anyone who left ETH in their wallet after the date mentioned, ETH was converted into AMPL. Before that date, there was no problem.

It seems Tesla is going to add to the woes of retail real estate.

Tesla closing locations in malls to move to cheaper locations.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is sad for the employees who were laid off but seems great for business as they'll be spending less on these expensive spaces. Soon enough a lot of these stores are bound to be useless.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

They arent laying employees off. In fact, they are expanding their sales force. They are just relocating them to mobile units and/or less costly facilities.

What will Hive be like with 10 Splinterlands on here.

The future is very exciting.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We'd all be rich!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That we would be. The value of Hive would go through the roof.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Really exciting!

And there will be opportunities for everyone too

Even if you missed the SPlinterlands train, Im sure a new successful project will shape up soon

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is amazing how quickly things turn.

Who would have guess that by the middle of 2021, people would be talking about the declining global population and the problem it poses? We were all having to listen to the banging of the drum about how overpopulation was the problem and people would not have enough resources to survive. That is a 180 in a little under a year.

Makes you wonder what else will come out as being untrue.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It's incredible. The world can balance out though with proper immigration. But they still have to protect their peace while trying to enhance their economy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Would someone who knows kindly give me some HELP!!!

I already read the short blurb Splinterlands provided on their lessons page. Not much help at all.

What I need to know is after I pick my team, how to I finish making it active to do Battles. I've tried clicking on everything (what the hell, hitting every button never hurt). All I ever get is that I surrendered.

I'm really interested in learning the game, so any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

On the left hand side (if you are using a laptop or desktop) where your team is listed you must scroll up to the top and you will see the battle button:
