Alts will rise and shine too.

Yes, if Bitcoin keeps on going up BUT if BTC.D keeps on going up as well and BTC price then drops, the higher the BTC.D is by then, the more short-term pain alts will suffer.

The market will adjust with time. Alts will rise at some points.

That's true. I forgot to add that this was a short-term analysis

Fully electric with record-breaking battery power
Hull 096 has over 275 tons of batteries and an energy storage system (ESS) with more than 40 megawatt-hours of capacity. According to Incat, this makes it the largest battery installation ever on a ship. The ESS is four times larger than any maritime battery system built to date.

Power from the batteries drives eight electric water jets, allowing the ship to travel across the river in 90 minutes. The charging infrastructure will be built on both sides of the route to ensure seamless operation.

Work will continue on the ship’s interior, including installing a 24,757-square-foot (2,300-square-meter) duty-free retail deck. Incat says it will be the world’s largest shopping area on any ferry.

Australia’s role in global maritime innovation
The launch of Hull 096 was celebrated by Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff, who praised the ship as a symbol of innovation and global leadership in zero-emission technology.

“Hull 096 will set a new global benchmark for clean, sustainable maritime transport and positions Tasmania as a global leader in the push toward zero-emission technology,” Rockliff said, reported the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

“Through hard work, determination, and ingenuity, Incat has built a globally significant battery-electric ship from their yard in Tasmania.”

Incat Chairman Bob Clifford, who has worked in the marine industry for nearly 70 years, said this was the most significant achievement in the company’s history.

“I’ve been in the marine business for nearly 70 years, and there is not the slightest doubt this is the biggest moment in that history,” Clifford said. “The electric ship industry is going to be huge.”

Incat CEO Stephen Casey added, “We’re not just building a ship – we’re building the future. Hull 096 proves that large-scale, low-emission transport solutions are not only possible, they are ready now. This is a proud day for Tasmania and for Australian manufacturing.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Liam Davies, a sustainability and urban planning lecturer at RMIT University, told The Guardian that the new ship’s regular ferry route could serve as a valuable case study to evaluate the effectiveness of electric vehicle shipping.

Apple’s Services segment—which includes the App Store, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Pay, and iCloud—also delivered a quarterly record of $26.65 billion in revenue, up 11.8% from the previous year. Still, the figure came in just shy of the analysts’ forecast of $26.70 billion, according to StreetAccount.

However, the company’s performance in Greater China told a different story. Sales in the region declined 2.3% to $16 billion in the fiscal second quarter ending March 29, falling short of the $16.83 billion average estimate.

The drop highlights Apple’s mounting challenges in one of its most crucial markets, amid weakening demand and intensifying local competition.

As per a Reuters report, Plans are underway to move all iPhone production for the U.S. market to India by the end of 2026, a significant shift from the current 10% production share. This move aims to reduce exposure to Chinese tariffs and geopolitical uncertainties.

Compounding these challenges, Apple is grappling with legal setbacks. A federal judge recently ruled that the company violated a 2021 injunction related to its App Store policies, potentially opening the door for Epic Games’ “Fortnite” to return to the App Store and challenging Apple’s control over in-app payments.

“The electrical architecture system in a vehicle is one of the most challenging areas from an assembly perspective,” said Terry Woychowski, president at Caresoft Global, likening vehicle wiring to “copper anacondas.”

Ford shifts focus to current platform
While the FNV4 project is shelved, Ford is not abandoning its software ambitions.

The automaker says it will integrate learnings from FNV4 into its existing architecture and continue development through its California-based skunkworks team. That group is tasked with building advanced software and cost-efficient electric vehicles.

“We are committed to delivering fully connected vehicle experiences across our entire lineup, regardless of powertrain, while many others in the industry are bringing the most advanced tech only to electric vehicles,” a Ford spokesperson told Reuters.

The Draper engine’s storability and quick-launch capability makes it well-suited to the Golden Dome missile defense system. The Golden Dome was introduced by the Trump administration in a January executive order. The system, inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome system, will be designed as a missile shield capable of intercepting hypersonic and cruise missile attacks.

Though the Draper engine will likely be used for the Golden Dome, reports also emerged last month that SpaceX has been tipped to build the defense system. Since those reports came to light, a group of 42 Democratic lawmakers have published an open letter expressing their concerns over a conflict of interest regarding Musk’s potential role in the Golden Dome system. Musk donated over $250 million to Trump’s election campaign.

The transfer route and destination underscore the logistical integration between NATO and Ukraine in wartime sustainment operations.

Visual evidence, widely circulated on open-source intelligence platforms, depicted at least three shrink-wrapped F-16 airframes, sans wings, tail sections, and radomes, being loaded onto the transport aircraft.

The TWZ analysis mentioned that the aircraft appears to be an older Block 15 Air Defense Fighter (ADF) variant, formerly assigned to the Air National Guard.

Although the US Air Force declined to specify the number or precise configuration of airframes involved, the presence of characteristic ‘bird-slicer’ IFF antennas supports the assessment of their Block 15 lineage.

The aircraft was almost certainly drawn from the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, the US military’s primary storage and reclamation site for retired aircraft.

“Over the last 5 to 10 years, we’ve basically gotten to the point where we effectively discourage businesses from trying to limit the targeting. It used to be that a business would come to us and say like, “Okay, I really want to reach women aged 18 to 24 in this place”, and we’re like, ‘Okay. Look, you can suggest to us…’”, he said.

“If they really want to limit it, we have that as an option. But basically, we believe at this point that we are just better at finding the people who are going to resonate with your product than you are. And so, there’s that piece.”

Zuckerberg also claimed that Meta aims to take total control over the creative process of advertising to deliver the required results. This model, known as “infinite creative”, allows its AI to continuously generate and refine ad content, with the potential to reshape the traditional advertising landscape entirely.

World’s largest electric ship with 275-ton battery power launches in Tasmania

With over 40 MWh of battery capacity, Hull 096’s energy system is four times larger than any previous maritime installation.

The world’s largest battery-powered ship, Hull 096, was officially launched in Tasmania. Built by shipbuilder Incat, this 426-foot-long (130 meters) vessel is the biggest electric vehicle of its kind ever constructed.

It has been commissioned by South American ferry operator Buquebus and is set to operate between Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Uruguay across the Río de la Plata.

Named China Zorrilla, after a beloved Uruguayan actress, the vessel marks a historic shift toward clean energy in maritime transport. It will carry up to 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles using only battery-electric power.

“This is a historic day – not just for Incat, but for the future of maritime transport,” said Incat Chairman Robert Clifford.

“We’ve been building world-leading vessels here in Tasmania for more than four decades, and Hull 096 is the most ambitious, most complex, and most important project we’ve ever delivered. This ship changes the game.”

This is the ninth vessel that Incat has built for Buquebus. The partnership between the companies continues to drive innovation and long-term commitment to sustainability.

Apple could face $900 million hit if Trump moves ahead with tariff plan

Cook, however, clarified that the estimate reflects current conditions and shouldn’t be used to project future quarters.

Tim Cook is bracing for the worst as Trump’s tariffs could come back to bite Apple.

The iPhone maker’s chief warned the company could take a hit of up to $900 million in added costs this quarter alone from the planned US tariffs on foreign imports.

“We estimate the impact to add $900 million to our costs,” Cook said Thursday during an earnings call.

The planned U.S. tariffs on foreign imports come at a precarious moment for Apple, which is already grappling with slumping sales in China and fresh legal setbacks at home.

Cook, however, clarified that the estimate reflects current conditions and shouldn’t be used to project future quarters.

“There are certain unique factors that benefit the June quarter,” he added.

China sales fall short
Cook had earlier managed to secure an exemption from the Trump tariffs, set at a steep 145%, for smartphones and other electronics, according to The New York Times.

But that reprieve may not last long. The Trump administration has since floated new tariffs on semiconductor chips, a move that could drive up the cost of iPhones, Macs, iPads, and other Apple devices.

Earlier on Thursday, the Cupertino-headquartered company reported revenue of $95.36 billion for the March quarter, marking a 5% year-on-year increase. Net income rose to $24.8 billion, or $1.65 per share, beating Wall Street expectations of $1.63 per share on $94.68 billion in revenue.

Ford scraps $10 billion FNV4 platform as software dreams crash and burn

Ballooning costs sink Ford’s FNV4 platform as it refocuses on software that works across both EVs and traditional cars.

Ford Motor has shut down its ambitious FNV4 electrical architecture program, a next-generation software platform once considered essential to competing with electric vehicle leaders like Tesla.

The decision marks a significant shift in strategy for the automaker, which had invested heavily in the project with hopes of streamlining software development across both electric and internal combustion vehicles.

The fully-networked vehicle (FNV4) system was designed to improve quality, cut costs, and enable features such as over-the-air updates and paid software upgrades.

However, the program faced persistent delays and ballooning expenses, ultimately contributing to billions in losses across Ford’s electric and software divisions over the past two years.

Delayed progress, soaring costs led to cancellation
According to Reuters, Ford began informing select employees last week about the decision to halt FNV4, using a company video to outline the reasons.

After internal assessments showed the program was no longer viable, executives had made the call weeks earlier.

The system, originally envisioned as a “zonal” architecture—bundling smaller computing hubs to control localized vehicle functions—aimed to reduce wiring complexity and improve the speed of software updates.

Despite the promise, the initiative became a financial burden. Ford posted $4.7 billion in software and EV-related losses in 2023 and another $5 billion in 2024, with FNV4 contributing significantly to those figures.

US to trial 4,000-pound thrust engine that roars 5 times the speed of sound

The Draper engine could form part of the US’ in-development Golden Dome.

The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has awarded rocket engine manufacturer Ursa Major a $28.5 million contract.

The agreement will see Ursa Major perform a flight demonstration of its Draper engine, which could eventually be utilized in the Trump Administration’s Golden Dome missile defense system.

The Draper engine is an easily storable propulsion system designed for hypersonic missile applications. Its quick-launch capabilities make it ideal for missile defense.

US prioritizes hypersonic weapons
The AFRL contract covers a flight demonstration as well as the integration of Ursa Major’s Draper engine into a test vehicle.

“Under this contract, Ursa Major serves as the lead integrator for a tactical flight demonstrator that will prove the ability to use a storable liquid rocket system for hypersonic applications,” Dan Jablonsky, Ursa Major CEO, explained in a press statement.

Amid rising global tensions, hypersonic weapons have become a top priority for the world’s leading military powers. These weapons can reach speeds of roughly 6,000 km/h, or Mach 5 – five times the speed of sound. This means they can reach anywhere on Earth in a matter of minutes.

Ursa Major’s Draper engine is designed to produce 4,000 lbs of thrust. However, what really sets it apart is the fact it uses storable, non-cryogenic propellants.

“Because of their tactical configuration, storable liquid rocket engines, like Ursa Major’s Draper, are uniquely positioned to deliver to the warfighter a hypersonic capability that is manufacturable at scale and at a fraction of the cost of alternatives,” Jablonsky continued.

Draper’s quick-launch capability
Ursa Major’s Draper engine uses a non-cryogenic kerosene peroxide fuel combination. That fuel remains liquid at room temperature, meaning it offers a simpler storage solution than the typical liquid oxygen engine. Liquid oxygen engines must be kept at extremely low temperatures, meaning they require complex cooling systems.

Ad extinction: Mark Zuckerberg takes on advertising industry with Meta’s AI arsenal

The company is actively exploring ways to turn its AI assistant into a revenue-generating tool while maintaining broad targeting appeal for advertisers across its platforms.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently confirmed that the U.S. tech giant will add premium plans to its recently launched AI assistant – the Meta AI app. In an interview held with Stratechery, the 40-year-old also shed light on enhancing Meta’s AI capabilities across the whole ecosystem to build a more immersive experience for its users.

Meta launched its AI assistant recently, signalling the entry of another rival with the likes of Google’s Gemini, Open AI’s ChatGPT, and Anthropic’s Claude already leading the fray.

The Zuckerberg Vision
“Our focus for this year is…making Meta AI the leading personal AI with an emphasis on personalisation, voice conversations, and entertainment,” the Meta CEO said.

“As AI unlocks more productivity in the economy, I expect that people will spend more of their time on entertainment and culture which will create an even larger opportunity to create more engaging experiences across all apps.”

The Meta AI app, launched in April, joins an already robust social media ecosystem including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. Currently, it’s free for use across both iOS and Android devices. It comes with a Discover feed that allows users to share how they are using AI to generate results. This feature also signals an additional base for serving product recommendations or ads to users.

“I think that there will be a large opportunity to show product recommendations or ads as well as a premium service for people who want to unlock more compute for additional functionality or intelligence,” Zuckerberg said during the company’s earnings call. However, he remained coy on finer details regarding when the subscription tiers will be released.

A news for Meta advertisers
Zuckerberg also focused on Meta’s commitment towards enhancing the ads business by using AI.

The Harvard University dropout also confirmed how AI capabilities have helped Meta become better at targeting through broad options, edging advertisers to ditch the usual targeting options in the ads manager dashboard.

This move aims to support “the sustainment of European-donated F-16s to Ukraine by providing completely non-operational F-16s to Ukraine for parts.”

IIn a strategic move to support Ukraine’s expanding fleet of Western-supplied F-16 fighter aircraft, the United States has approved the transfer of non-operational F-16 airframes to Kyiv.

The US Air Force confirmed this development following the emergence of imagery showing partially dismantled F-16s being loaded onto a Ukrainian-operated Antonov An-124 cargo aircraft at Tucson International Airport, Arizona.

Flight tracking data confirmed the aircraft, An-124 registration UR-82027, arrived in Tucson on April 25 and departed the following day for Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport in southeastern Poland, a principal logistics hub for Western military aid flowing into Ukraine.

Transferring retired US jets for spares
The news regarding the transfer of retired F-16 airframes to Ukraine was initially carried by The War Zone (TWZ).

These airframes have been taken apart and do not have important systems like engines, radars, or flight controls. They are not meant for flying, but will be used for spare parts, TWZ reported.

A US Air Force spokesperson told TWZ that this move aims to support “the sustainment of European-donated F-16s to Ukraine by providing disused and completely non-operational F-16s to Ukraine for parts.”

The proximity of the boneyard to Tucson International Airport further supports this conclusion.

Ukraine’s F-16 jet fleet
While these airframes will not increase Ukraine’s combat-ready fleet numerically, their strategic value lies in logistical support.

Cannibalizing these platforms for hard-to-source components will increase mission-capable rates for Ukraine’s operational F-16s, an increasingly critical factor as the conflict with Russia enters a prolonged attritional phase.

Currently, approximately 85 operational F-16s have been pledged to Ukraine.

This includes 24 from the Netherlands, 19 from Denmark, and 12 from Norway, with Norway supplying an additional 10 aircraft strictly for spare parts.

Belgium has committed to providing 30 more. However, not all these jets are destined for frontline use; many are allocated for pilot training at Romania’s European F-16 Training Center (EFTC).

General Christopher Cavoli, Commander of US European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), recently informed Congress that additional F-16s are being prepared for Ukraine.

The source, timing, or setup of the platforms was not specified. The US has not directly given flyable F-16s to Ukraine, but this shows that Washington is changing its support approach.

Instead of sending planes for immediate use, it focuses on maintaining long-term support through logistics. Flyable F-16s are becoming rare. Many are being used for training or as targets.

The US Air Force is also working on extending the life of newer Block 40/50 jets, showing that these planes are still important despite the limited supply.

What does this mean for users and advertisers?
The monetization of Meta AI app shouldn’t come as a surprise for users, knowing that its competitors have already brought paid subscriptions to their services. At this point, it’s difficult to see how Meta’s AI assistant could be any different from the options available in the market – especially for users who use AI for general purposes on minimal level.

Regarding advertisers, Zuckerberg’s alarming vision on automating the entire ads process signals a danger for large agencies and brands. While businesses will be able to outline their goals, they will have to rely entirely on Meta’s AI to generate the desired results – a practice that could potentially disrupt the entire advertising system with rising ad costs.
