Live action: Early morning waiting

in OCD4 years ago

It's early on what is going to be a beautiful Adelaide winters day. I'm down by the river, in the city, on a little walk...Waiting.

This morning Faith has an operation and I've just dropped her into the hospital. She's not a huge fan of hospitals and is feeling a little nervous although I think she'll be ok.

The operation will take 90 minutes to complete so I decided to take a walk figuring it will give me a chance to clear my head as we have had a tumultuous couple of weeks and I'll be honest, it has taken its toll on me. Both of us really.

Life has a way of throwing up challenges and they're hard to deal with; That's the nature of a challenge I suppose. I've certainly had my share of them and have dealt with them well, badly and even done my best to avoid them too, much to my shame. In the main, however, I have confronted challenges, tried my best to determine how to turn them into an opportunity, and then move forward. It hasn't always worked, however it is a good ethos to have I believe. It's positive.

Faith and I will get through this difficult time: Losing our beloved pet Merlin and my father in the same week. We will deal with the stress of work and life, the pressure of her operation, COVID pressure and financial stress...We will get through all of this; The alternative is simply not palatable.

Designing and creating our ideal lives isn't easy; It takes work, effort and persistence...It is worth the effort though and so we make that effort, no matter how hard it may be.

Have a great day y'all. Do something that moves you a step forward, be nice to someone, and be nice to youself.

Now...Back to walking and waiting.

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - Tomorrow isn't promised.

Be well

You will get through this G-dog!
I'm sure many difficult challenges have come in your way, and you have dealt with them.
When the LB gets you hard, you just get back to your QB and you run again!
Nowhere to go but UP G-DOG!!! ;)
Much love brother! <3

Thanks man, and I appreciate the reference to the sport we both played. I'm not the give up guy...I'm more the fuck you I'm beating the shit out of this guy, and Faith is a fighter too. We'll see how the tests go and deal with the challenges as they come. Stiff-arm them away, or just run right over them for the TD.

Thanks for your kind message.

That's a beautiful spot for a stroll. I remember taking a Gondola Ride along that very river, near the Adelaide Oval with my wife on our first wedding anniversary. I mainly remember the fact it was smack in the middle of a heatwave (it was something like the 5th consecutive day above 38 degrees) and too hot to really enjoy the experience.

Hope all goes well with Faith's operation and sorry to hear about your Dad and your pet.

Hey mate, thanks for dropping in.

They have done a lot of redevelopment there and it's still going. It will be a pretty nice spot soon, the river already is nice, but they are redeveloping the the Festival Plaza area which will be a cool and funky hang-out spot.

I remember the gondola thing they did and yes, I don't think 38+ temps would be the nicest weather to take a boat ride. Still, you remember it and it meant something, so that works.

I hope you're well and the new normal is not kicking you in the guts like it is others.

Yeah, thankfully we're going OK. Tassie is in a pretty good space (we have a moat and we're not afraid to use it!!!) with regards to Covid - particularly in comparison to Victoria.

On a personal note both the wife and I are fortunate to be employed in essential industries without the risk that comes with being on the front line in the medical profession so that's a plus - and the last 3 months have been the busiest I've ever had for my little Bricklink store as well (despite the fact I've stopped shipping internationally until it becomes a bit more reliable again). It seems that people in lockdown are using Lego to keep themselves sane.

Are you guys generally keeping safe and well?

Sounds like you've got all bases covered, and I'm not surprised the store has pushed forward...You know how tragic Lego people are! Lol.

We're ok, just been doing our thing. Our business is still reasonable although has dropped a little revenue and I'm on reduced money at work...More to do with the company being ass holes than any real need to do it. It will cost them me at some stage in the future, and many other staff also.

Victoria is teeing off huh? Poor buggers. Still, you don't do the right thing and there'll be a reckoning.

We are still booked to come to Tas in October (delayed from March) although we fly with Virgin and through Tullamarine Airport so...Who really knows? We need a holiday though. Big time.

Oh I have been out of touch for so long. I am so sorry to hear about your father and Merlin. And to hear Faith is having surgery. This year is challenging even for the most resilient folk. I know every time I think I am about to catch my breath, some new crap thing happens.

You seem to have a strength I don’t feel. I hope your chance for a reprieve from the bullsh-t of 2020 comes soon.

Hi there and thanks for your message. This year has certainly thrown up a lot for people to deal with and depending on location and situation those challenges have been great or small. All we can do keep on pushing, facing the challenges and turning them to our advantage, or mitigating their impact as best we can.

Thanks for your message, I really appreciate it.

really, my friend you're having a hard time these days. I wish the bad air dispersed faster for you. and I wish health for Faith. I am waiting to see more fun things about your life. I'm sure you will get over these psychological pressures in a short time. stay with love.

Yeah, it's all rather gloomy at the moment, but the storm clouds will pass and days will get brighter. Thanks for your nice words. :)

My thoughts are with her and I wish her fast recovery. You'll pull through, I'm sure of that. I've read in one of your posts that you're together for more than 25 years (if I recall correctly, can't remember exactly, sorry). That bond means a lot and will help both of you get through tough times together. Just don't get down as there's always a way. Life can be tough sometimes but these experiences make us stronger.
My best wishes.

We've been together 33 years. A long time huh?

I'm sure she'll be ok, she's a fighter and isn't one to give in easily. We are hoping the issues are not serious, although if things go the way they are suggesting it could be a very terrible situation. We will take each day as it comes, cross each bridge as it presents itself.

Thanks for your nice message.

!ENGAGE 20

See? That's the right attitude, the only way to deal with hard situation like this and you're already on the right path.
Sending love and strength.

Thanks Erika. :)

Hope it goes well and that y'all are hanging in there! 2020 has been pretty relentless in so many ways! Keep on Keepin' on brother! It can't rain all the time! Going to take your advice and get some art going here in a bit. Hope the stroll did help clear your mind. The sky sure looked clear.

I don't know how you got video footage of 2020 running me the fuck over, but somehow you have managed it. To be honest it doesn't look painful getting run over like this, but I can assure you it was. Lol.

We have had two years of relentless hits and today we got another as there have been complications at the hospital. We have a choice though; Forward or backwards...We'll choose forward.

It was a nice walk though, a moment of respite even if returning to the hospital shattered any peace I may have found.

Damn bro! Can't win for loosing these days.

I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers. That wreckage probably might feel like an improvement based on what little i know about what all is going on. I lost my dog one day after i left Texas to Sweden... and then lost my dog in Sweden one day after i left back to Texas. I always say it's easy to die but difficult to live. Life goes on for the living... so LIVE! Sorry to hear about Merlin. Forward is the way and take the good memories with you. Make some new good memories when this gets done flinging off the fan blades!

Here you have done it again...Footage of 2020, in a shiny new yellow vehicle, making sure it got me good and then a pretty clear depiction of the last two years...You and your hidden cameras.

The old G-dog will get it all squared away mate, and soon it'll be all sunny days, champagne (beer) falling from the skies and a chorus of angels heralding a fresh start...Or more getting run over by maniacal infants in electric cars.

It'll all work out mate. Life is about moving forward...So we'll crack on with it.

Thanks for your message.

I knew you would appreciate the yellow one! Kid goes monster-truckin' over that other kid... hahahaha no brakes cause that's how he rolls! I know it will all work out. Humor can be some of the best medicine! Cheers

Lol...You know me so well...But do you also know that I want to monster truck someone right now? I mean, it's just good wholesome fun right?

hahahaha All in good fun!

That last gif, the look he gives the car is "ah, that'll buff out!"

That's exactly why i chose it to end with! I was hoping Galen would be able to walk away from this in similar fashion! hahaha

Bummer week man. Sometimes I don't know if two heavy losses like that are better together than spread apart. Take your time to grieve in your own way and look at Faith's positive release as yet another new start. It's amazing how we often get new starts in life if we only take the time to embrace and enjoy them. Neither happiness nor sadness last forever, nor should we let either drag on. We should experience both, then allow ourselves to move on to new experiences, and do what we can to increase the frequency of the happy ones.
K

Thanks mate, it's been a bit tough. I've dealt with death before and am pretty good at it but it's all a bit close to home this time. I appreciate your kind words and sentiment. Thanks mate.

I'm sure things will pick up at some stage and in the mean time we'll just hold ground and push forward when possible.

Hope all goes well for Faith! Keep your chin up, better days are ahead.

Thanks Pooky, we're taking it day by day and will have to confront each challenge as it presents itself. No different to everyone else I suppose really. I hope you are well. When does R get back home?

Your guess is as good as mine, one of the downsides of his job! Never know from day to day.

He's a hard worker for sure. Trucking is tough, as you obviously know.

To start I hope all goes well with Faith. Disaster and life's tribulations they say come in three's, so after this operation, maybe a calming period for you and her. Nothing like a nice reflection picture to take your mind off of present conditions, reflecting on the joys of the past with Merlin and your father, and looking toward a healthier future for Faith. Enjoy the remains of the day.

Thanks bashadow, I appreciate your words. It's turned out the Faith has to have testing for the C word. (Cancer). This was not the news I wanted to come back to today, but we'll just have to push on as you say, deal with what life throws our way. We're fighters though, so will do that and hope for the best.

If it is cancer the earlier the catch the better. I was fortunate they only had to take half a lung, no need for radiation follow up or chemo, so that was good. One thing the docs wont tell you before getting any cancer treatment, make sure the teeth are in excellent shape, because even with out radiation therapy you end up taking a lot of rads, and they do effect the gums.

Hopefully the test will all come out fine for her. It is scary, but it is livable.

We lost my mum to it when she was 59. My wife's dad when he was 33 and my mother in-law just finished chemo...We've had our share of it. Due to the history in Faith's family, non-hodkin lymphoma (blood cancer) is what her dad had, they are somewhat concerned, especially considering the issue she was in hospital for...So yeah, each day at a time. We'll get by.

Seems like you had your own issues which, fortunately, have come out in your favour. Must have been tough huh?

Yeah, it was, but still kicking, not as fast at kick ball as I used to be, or running or walking, but still able to get from point a to point b. I do hope things work out well for you two.

A little bit of kicking is better than none.

Thanks for your words...Talking sometimes orders my thoughts so I appreciate it.

Hello dear friend @galenkp
I'm so sorry for what you're going through lately, fate, life, has a weird way of testing us.
life is never easy, molding the way we like is a great challenge, you are very right, despite everything, you always have to go ahead. and along the way exercise kindness with our fellowmen.

Been tough lately, but I'll cowboy the fuck up and get on top of it all at some stage.

Hope you enjoy the walk and we all have challenges thrown at us as we go through life, just do the best we can in these situations.

Nice day for a walk..Cold, but that's ok. It is fresh and the sun gives a little warmth on the back.

It really pours with you doesn't it :O

Hope Faith recovers quickly and painlessly from the operation!

It is what it is...I think many go through things like this. I'm just a little more inclined to open up about it. Helps me deal with things and process them. Here on hive it's easy to do. In real life I don't share much.

Same here. I am so open here. Real life= turtle in the shell. Oh Hive, what have you done to me! 🙈🐢🐢🐢

You're ruined! Lol

Hahaha, my touch steel go stealth mode hard cookie no emotion woman gone.....my my my

Like I said...Totally ruined...For the better probably though. :)

😇😇😇

I wish Faith to be well and fly like a happy fairy after all of it is done. I am sure she will, she has the best support in the world :you. It must have been so tough, so many things piled up on your shoulders (and you just had injections lol).

What a nice view! Oh... These rough times will past. In a couple of years we will look back and pat ourselves on the back for being so strong

Being nice to others and to yourself, well that is an awesome advice. I take it as a sign you would love more engage hihi

!ENGAGE 20

She will be fine...Or at least will fight what comes...They are talking about the C-word (cancer) which is what the tests are for. Today was a non-event at the hospital due to unforeseen complications that they need to address. we'll see.

I like getting engage...Almost as much as you like giving it! Lol. Feels empowering right?

I hope the tests will come out ok, keep my fingers crossed.

I am in za engage club, I promised I will pamper all my friends hahaha. It does feel great

I've got fingers crossed...And other things.

Hey, is that you the shadow in the water? 😀
What a calm and beautifull morning.

Lol, yeah that's me. I wouldn't have used that image knowing it was in there, but I did the post on the go, whilst literally standing there, on my phone. I didn't actually notice it...I just got done with the post and the hospital called me back due to complications with Faith so I hurried back. So, I'm not really fussed that you can see my long-legged shadow. Lol.

It was a beautiful morning...Turned out this for us though. Oh well, we will push on.

I hope Faith operation went well.
Now that I have "seen" you, I can repost your image all over 😂

Lol...My skinny legs!

I must confess, the shot is really beautiful and I am attracted to it. Nice one. As for faith, don't hit your head too much, she will be fine. It a nice thing you go out to clear you head for a while.

That's a river that runs through the city I live in with the CBD just to the left of shot. (I live in the suburbs). Adelaide is a nice city, one of the most liveable cities in the world. Not too expensive, easy to get around and only just over a million people.

It was nice to clear my head with a refreshing walk early in the morning.

Yes sir, without doubts I can see that. I have always wanted to travel, move around to get to know beautiful places and see the different kinds of people, along with different cultures. They are all in my bucket list😆. Who knows, Adelaide could be one of them.

It's a nice place... Australia is big, and full of nice places though. Hopefully you get to travel a little and see and experience the things you would like to.

I knew you were in Oz but I didn't realise you were in South Australia! I myself grew-up about an hour outside Adelaide. Is that the Adelaide Oval on the right?

I was born 45-50 minutes north of Adelaide CBD. Lived here most of my life. Love it.

Yeah, that's the oval on the left, the foot bridge ahead that leads over the Torrens to the hotels and casino, convention centre etc. They have done a lot of redevelopment around the around the area...It's going to be very cool.

As a kid, my family emigrated from the UK to live in a small town called Macclesfield, South East of Adelaide up in the hills. Haven't been back to Australia since we left over 25 years ago - one day I'll return!

The spot that picture is taken must be very close to where my Dad pulled a young lad out of the river one afternoon. We were coming out from the cricket and he'd fallen in while those who were supposed to be looking after him had their backs turns. Shame they didn't leave a plaque there to commemorate the occasion! Something along the lines of here lies the spot where a Pommie bastard saved the life of an Australian 😀

Ah yeah I've been there a few times. Nice place to grow up I'd say.

That's a cool story about your dad and should have made headlines...Something along the lines of:

Poms lose cricket, but one saves the day for Aussie child!

😂

Ok, they may not have lost the cricket that day.

Well we weren't losing at the Adelaide Oval on that day but it was the 1990s so you can be fairly safe in assuming that somewhere in the world we were losing to someone!

Lol...That's the way it goes huh? These days somewhere in the world the Aussie cricket team are probably cheating! Lol.

Really bad times for you. I hope everything goes well for Faith. I wish her good health!

We'll get by and bring it all together. We have each other and are fighters. Thanks for your wishes.

I hope the surgery turned out well.

Oh dear, I do hope all is well, and the operation went along smoothly without any pain. It's been a few days, though I'm sure the steely-hearted and iron-willed Faith would be jumping up and down since then. Best wishes, mate :-)
