in OCD4 years ago

It's not easy to gain success on a new platform. It's not easy to cross someone on a journey, especially when that someone passed more time on the platform than you.

There are some simple tricks that you can follow to get success on Hive in the shortest time. These are my own tricks that I designed by analyzing successful bloggers. The following tricks can help you a lot in your journey on Hive.

1

At first, get a clear idea about Blockchain. Then learn how Hive blockchain works. I am not asking you to learn everything. Just grab some basic knowledge so that you can get the idea where you're publishing your content.

I already wrote beginner's guide on Blockchain to help you out - What is Blockchain? Simplest Explanation of Blockchain Technology Ever

2

Most of the newbies don't have proper sense about Hive, Hive Power, and HBD. Without acquiring any prior knowledge they start blogging which is a bad idea. Before publishing your first content get a thorough idea about how Hive works, how curation and delegation works; and learn every term in Hive blog.

This is the article I wrote for newcomers - What is Hive and How Does it Work? A beginner's Guide

3

When we hear about any online earning platform the first question that comes to our mind is - How can I withdraw? To know this answer you must know how Hive wallet works. Hive is not like regular social media where you can easily withdraw your balance by giving your bank account details! So learn about Hive wallet.

4

Learn all the ways of earning Hive. Just posting isn't the only way to earn. You can earn by curating content, commenting, delegating, playing games, and so on!

As I already told you Hive is blockchain-based social media that was built with a web 3.0 solution that provides more security over your privacy. Normal social media like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin are created on Web 2.0. It's not mandatory to learn about Web Solutions to start blogging on Hive. But it'll give you a good idea about the platform.

6

If you don't know about the proper use of tags, you're missing approx. 20% chance to gain popularity on Hive. Only use content-related tags, don't use any unnecessary tags that may cause misunderstanding.

You may use a variety of offtopic tags unintentionally on your post, which is called Tag Abuse according to Hivewatchers.

7

You can edit your post and tag until 7 days, but remember one thing - you can't edit your first tag. So think which topic fits best for your article and use the first tag accordingly. If you are posting on the Community then the name of the community will be set as the first tag.

8

Post in the community. There are lots of active communities here in the Hive blog. Find a suitable community according to your niche and post there. It's proven that posting on the community will give you more exposure then posting directly on your blog.
If you are an artist than find an art-related community to post your content, rather than just post it to blog using #art tag.
Here's the list of all communities on Hive - https://hive.blog/communities

9

Find your niche! You aren't an expert on every topic. It's not a good idea to write on all topics. People are going to follow you only for your best skills, and a blogger can't be good on all niches. So find 2-3 niches according to your talent and post content on those topics only.

10

Be consistent! Don't just hide after posting 1-2 contents. Give people a reason to follow you! Find some niches according to your talent and post regularly. If possible try to write a regular series according to your niche. Suppose, if you're a traveler than post your travel blog according to the day or part - like day 1, day 2, etc.

As a content writer, you want to make content easily readable. Write for your audience. Don't try to impress anybody with high vocabulary type words. Don't use hard language, make it with regular and common speaking language so that your readers can digest the content quickly.

12

You need to make a well-organized content for the readers. Use heading, subheadings, break your content in the paragraphs, etc. When you will keep the content organized it will be easy for somebody to read.

13

If you're writing an article then try to write more than 1000 words. Smaller articles won't get much attention. It's proven that long articles get more organic traffic from search engines. And don't expect to get better rewards just for writing a few sentences.

14

Use images and videos on your post. You heard that perfect image or video clip can tell thousand words than just text. So images and videos are great to use in the blog post. If you are including any downloaded or copyrighted image, don't forget to mention it's source.

15

Don't know how to find copyright-free images? There was a time when we had to search a lot for copyright-free images. Now using stock images for your blog post, website or project is very easy. Thanks to many websites which are providing access to millions of free images.

16

Hive has zero-tolerance for plagiarized content. You can't just copy someone's original work from the internet and paste it to Hive blog.

That just sounds wrong! You can be banned by Hivewatcher and Spamminator for this reason.

17

Use tools to make your content plagiarism-free. There are many tools to check the plagiarism of any content. The best and most popular tool is the CopyScape. However, it is a premium tool! Here's the list of five free tools to check plagiarism.

18

Don't post two articles at the same time. Try to keep 24 hours interval between 2 posts. If you post 2 blogs at the same time, I will probably read and vote on one blog and ignore another. So it's good to post 5-10 articles or blogs per week. I prefer to post 1 blog every 24 hours.

19

Provide some internal links to your article. You can add the link to your previous post to the new post. This will help the readers to check out more of your works. Internal linking is also good for SEO.

20

Share your content on Social media like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc to get more exposure. I share all of my content to Twitter and get lots of readers from there. It's good to use centralized media to share decentralization.

21

Title is the first impression of your post. The title describes the entire article; what is written in the post. If you are unable to attract visitors by your post title, visitors aren't going to read that. And you may lose potential reward. So make your post title innovative and eye-catchy!

22

Long sentences may annoy readers and they may leave before reading the full article. You have to keep in mind that you are writing for a huge group of readers, where everyone may not be an expert in your language. So keep it short and simple.

23

Try to finish each paragraph within 3-5 sentences. Long paragraphs may scare a reader - Oh! This is gonna be long and boring!
Large paragraphs are difficult to read and have a bad impact on Search Engine.

24

As the heading, your conclusion should be attractive as well. To keep your conclusion eye-catchy you can -

  • Give a summary of the whole article
  • Ask questions
  • End with an inspirational quote
  • Provide necessary references

25

Last but not the least, write for yourself. Earn reward to motivate yourself. Write for entertainment. Enjoy the world of blogging. If you enjoy what you're doing, the reward will come automatically.

And be motivated! Tell yourself - if other bloggers can earn good rewards, I can too. I am better than them.
