My Thoughts On Celebrating Afri-tunes & What The Community Has Lined Up.

in AFRI-TUNESlast year

I'm not a good singer, but I love good music. Some of the people I've spoken to offline thinks I should be able to sing, especially if I can be able to put in the work or go through the right training. Irrespective of that, I have favorite singers here on hive and I don't shy away from telling them how much I love their vocals and performances, I do this by leaving my thoughts on their posts and supporting them to sweeten the pot. Although I usually can't help but pinpoint areas where they can do better, even if I wouldn't really do better than them in the first place if I tried, imagine the irony. But what do I know, I think people who are music critics don't always make good singers.

Afri-tunes is a music concept that was started one year ago by @ksam. The theme revolved around African music, and I thought the concept was good. I liked the feel of it and when he approached me for some support, I was very happy to give it, I take my time to also check out some of the entries and curate them personally apart from the vote trail that I followed. I was pleased when he (@ksam) messaged me to tell me that afri-tunes is a year old and he's planning to do something revolutionary. Apparently, we talked about how he wanted to initiate some of his wonderful plans and I thought, "why not?" Any way to promote hive.

I still offered some of the support I could garner and I was pleased to see that he got some outstanding support. He's a wonderful young man who is trying to create a platform for young African-based singers. I think niching is an important aspect of hive, it's important for people to belong, and find solace or a community where they feel accepted as it's great and important for retention and the community has survived through and actually functioned despite minimal incentive which has been awesome, I think it has managed to do this by providing a content platform and an opportunity as well. One very important aspect of retention is having a niche community, where there are already-made creators that would synch with the aim and content scope of such a community.

So even without an elaborate curation scheme, it (Afri-tunes) has minimally done well, and the creators and curators have remained consistent and committed and that's one of the best things about afri-tunes. I might probably not be a good singer, but I engage, curate, and play some abstract roles. This is another way to be part of a community, even if the most recognizable way to be a community member is through content creation. Going Forward, I think the community will keep doing well. I know so many communities that were created but couldn't survive. It's normal to think that it's because there's no stream of support or a designated support source, but this isn't entirely true.

With afri-tunes, I enjoy consuming video content and there are passionate creators who continue irrespective of anything. I've seen people better their craft too and gained exposure. I know @ksam is a creative and innovative man and I'll always be there to answer and support him whenever he's got some innovative scheme up his sleeves. Kudos to the likes of @eccency, it's interesting to see how I've utilized the points I've gathered over the years to support some of the contents on afri-tunes. Hopefully, too some of the creators within the community can grow their stakes and collectively create a support system to keep the community thriving.

Away from the boring stuff, I'm delighted to be getting one copy of the customized shirts, it's been a long time since I wore anything customized with my initials. The last time was in 2014 when my then-girlfriend gave me a customized shirt for valentine's. I was talking to someone some days ago and she was also telling me that she was also a recipient of the customized shirt and I told her that whenever she comes around, we'll probably both rock the customized shirts.

I tested the scan codes of the phone versions he sent me and surprisingly, it leads to the signup page on eccency, it was cool and I was thrilled. So I'll set up 30% beneficiary to afri-tunes, to help with the funding of the one-year celebration project, and hopefully more in the future as well. All I can say is congratulations to @ksam the founder and everyone who has been part of the community for this past year.

Ksam is an inspiring man, I must say. It really isn't a smal talk to start a community, let alone be steadfast and consistent with it. And look at where the community is now; it isn't the biggest yet, but it has well become a home to many musicians here.

Kudos to the entire community for making being a home for a whole year. And to starstrings and obaro, I say a big weldone.

I haven't been actively participating and supporting in the community, but you have now inspired me to do better, and that's what I'll ensure to work on henceforth. I might as well get myself a tee-shirt too. Yours look really cool.

I knew when Afri-tunes started and it's been a hell of a ride like you've confirmed, it's not the biggest like you've pointed out and even through the bull market, the activities are still decent and the Contents are top notch. This is where I think Ksam and his team of moderator s have excelled well.

I haven't been actively participating and supporting in the community

I'm not a singer bur there are numerous ways I participate really. Maybe with time, you'll settle in and be able to fully participate as always.

Thank you so much baba
It really hasn't been easy, but we thank God for the constant support and back to back motivation.

We hope to see you once more 🥰🥰

Sam is doing really well with the community. And even though I don’t share much about music, I think I’ll be dropping into the afritunes contest to say one or two things in my pov about African music.

Haven’t seen you wear that customized T-shirt though. Shame you’ve never done us the honor of showing it to us al this time. Hopefully you’ll show us in a video this one that is a gift from Sam. I hope you’re doing better again.

Corny WhatsApp chat background btw😂

I think you should drop by sometimes, they're also cooking some contest that might not even warrant you singing whatsoever. I haven't worn the customized shirt because it's yet to be delivered to me. Nevertheless, I decided to make this post to further support the community with my beneficiary set.

Corny WhatsApp chat background btw😂

Hahaha the image was designed for when I hit rep 80, so I use it as well on my WhatsApp.

Yeah I’ll most likely be making an appearance in the contest. I might have a thing or two to say about African music. Might just be a long summary of why Burna is awesome. Lol

Okay I take the corny back. Haha

It's great to see some creative stuff on hive and it's great to see it still running after an entire year. That is definitely a milestone and a lot of things don't last very long.

Definitely, it's great to see such a thriving community on a decent level. I hope we can have communities that would further create retentive options for new and existing users in the future.

Thanks for always supporting the community boss 🙌

I'm really looking forward to the anniversary, I hope it will be a fantastic one God willing.

I don't know what the community has further lined up, but I'm sure ksam will get to talk about it in the coming days...

It's always a pleasure.

Yeah, he will... A lot of preparations are on going already.

I have my T-shirt too 😃

 last year

You have been a pillar and a backbone in Afritunes community, we have seen the great hands of help and support you have vested in our community for the development and advancement of a niche were Hive and African music finds expression through talented artists regardless of their country base. People like you keep the community thriving..

I think people who are music critics don't always make good singers.

Wow.. Little did I know boss😃 maybe me and @ksam should have a rethink how we talk too much about about music😃😃

Well, my support might be small and minute, the community has done well at some minimal level. Hopefully, there will be more curators and more initiatives in the future, God willing..

Wow! this community has gone far and Ksam is really a strong guy to be consistent and keep the community going and growing. My eyes have always been on this community for a long time but I don´t know why I never joined. I need the muse to start since I do participate in the Hive Open Mic community, but to say the fact, it is not easy doing this and writing content as well. Ksam and others are trying in this aspect. Congratulations to AfriTunes.
I like the customized shirt.. It is entering my eyes 😅

Well, I haven't seen you on open mic before, so I was guessing music wasn't really your thing, but well, it's a decent community and I stop by from time to time even if I wasn't really much of a singer. Indeed the t-shirt ie really nice hahaha.

Hahaha... then I guess you should see this...

😋😑😑 I am always active there, except on days I don´t feel like singing.

Oh wow, I guess, I haven't seen much, or Maybe I wasn't always opportuned to come across them.

Yes, I think so. Lol

I must commend @ksam for his efforts. It is not an easy thing to start a community and be consistent for a long time. I know how I feel most times being a Secretary in church. Sometimes I will just scream to get relieved of the work load.

Kudos to the #afri-tunes community

The man is really doing well for afri-tunes, this I can actually confirm, I'm glad he's given others, the community to belong.

It's great to see a community coming together to celebrate African music and culture, and it's even better to see the positive impact that it's having. Celebrating our culture and heritage is important not just for our own personal identity and sense of belonging, but also for promoting understanding and appreciation of different cultures around the world.

Music is a powerful tool for bringing people together, and African music in particular has a rich and diverse history that deserves to be celebrated. From traditional drumming and dance to modern Afrobeat and hip-hop, African music has had a significant influence on global music trends.

I hope that the community's efforts to celebrate and promote African music and culture continue to grow and inspire others to do the same. By doing so, we can build bridges across cultures and promote greater understanding and harmony in our world.

The initiative hasn't been replicated, so yes, your idea of what afri-tunes is, is correct. Hopefully more growth and exponentially too.

I think niching is an important aspect of hive, it's important for people to belong,

Speaking of a niche and a place for people to belong, it started with Afri-tunes for me. I used to be everywhere and never felt like I belonged and couldn't connect with people.

Since I became consistent on afri-tune, I started feeling like I was home and the feeling of being lost disappeared.

All that you've written are on point. Your support for the afri-tunes community is greatly appreciated.

I go my t-shirt already, but I haven't tried scanning that code.

Glad to see your content in this community. I hope you have a great weekend.
