According to a survey I carried out last summer, 58% of the Steem users got in contact with this network for the first time through friends, family and social media.
Social media networks are THE communities of the 21st century. The people we connect with online have a serious influence on us, our lives and our decision-making.
It's not advertisement, and it's not the media. It's our friends - the most powerful influencers worldwide.
Reason enough to leverage these global networking opportunities in order to increase Steem's brand awareness on a global scale.
Those of you who thought that the contest "60 Seconds of Steem" ended with the award ceremony last friday, will now realize that the party hasn't even started yet.
Are you ready?

In sales you usually do have that damn one shot.
If you fail at selling your product to customer X on Monday, you'd hardly sell it to him on Wednesday.
It's all about that one shot.
So let's not mess it up, steemians :-)
All you need to do is take your favorite Steem video ad(s) from the #sixtyseconds contest and share them in all of your social media networks. Not now, tomorrow!
You may have had reasons to stay away from Facebook in the past, but tomorrow could be a good day to ignore those for a little while.
The idea is to create an impact.
I don't like to use the world viral in this context, since it's incredibly challenging to make a topic going viral on the internet. But let's dream big and say that we'll make #Steem become Talk of town in the relevant networks tomorrow.

Think about the format - whether you're planning to upload a video to a network, embed it or share a link to the video on DTube or Youtube.

There are actually not rules for your social media posts, but these recommendations:
- Please use the tags #Steem and #sixtyseconds on Twitter and Instagram so that other steemians can find your posts, vote/like and share them.
- Try to be sophisticated and avoid advertisy phrases such as: Join Steem now, Sign up today or Earn instantly, etc. Put yourself in the position of the observer! We want invite people, not buy them.
- Don't spam! One post per network / day is totally fine. You don't need to share the same video in each channel, so if you have more than one favorite: use different ads for different channels.
- Be steemy! Steem is a network of cool, smart, funny and open-minded people - try to transmit that feeling in your post.

Hmmm... not sure if a large Stake of Steem tokens may help you to get some traction off chain? What we need now are influencers in the established networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Steemit, Inc is already helping to spread the word in those networks (just check their Twitter accounts for instance).
Let's stand together and not point a finger at each other. That to me is just a waste of valuable energy :-))

Of course it can, if they had liquidated some of that large Steem stake and used the money to buy advertising, Steem would be pumping right now.
They should have done in-app marketing, social media influencer marketing, the lot, and we'd see a lot healthier site right now. Instead Ned pushed out Dan and we all started going on about how great Ned was, when in fact he was doing a terrible job.
It's not about finger pointing, it's about pulling our heads out of the sand and saying hey, this is wrong; how do we fix it? Rather than acting as if everything is great until we can't ignore it anymore.
Because that is why Ned had to sack 70% of the staff, because he ignored all the warning signs that many people were shouting about.
Influencers do not do things for free...

I have really been grappling with how t o explain Steemit to my friends and now I have a way . What usually happens is I got all topsy turvy mentioning blockchain and social media and only leave them with a pat on my shoulder and a quizical look will definatly share the second vid . There are many people on there, who dream of leaving their jobs and living off something they love. Or even just earning a little extra income from their passion on the side, in addition to their day jobs.
I think @ashtv's clip is perfect for that audience. Maybe others, too. People may be more hesitant to click "Like", but from my own experience, they do see it, they do check it out, they do take it seriously - especially if you share there with consistency.

not a good time for a massive promotion in case say 1000 investors were to come while the majority holder steemit inc was selling their steem you can guarantee users/investors will be lost forever after being dumped on
Steemit constantly sells their stake to fund for the blockchain development and even if they aren't Steem is inflationary. Both of those won't change so according to you there will never be a good time for massive promotion.
yes ive heard these claims is for funding blockchain development but where is it?
promises of transparency reports on costs and pay have been said for years
and standard inflation by economic output(posting something of value ,storing value) is different than farming based on nothing
the system was designed to combat inflation by economic output i.e valuable knowledge posts etc being created stored and rewarded
of course their would come a good time to buy after a single major holder sells off and once effect has cleared and prices are low there is space for more individuals to invest and providing long term security
First of all, Steemit, Inc is not selling their stake, they're just shifting it to other accounts - like many many larger stakeholders have done in the past and will do in the future. I could easily name five who did this.
Second, if you were interested in those potential investors (and the future of this blockchain) by yourself, you wouldn't leave such unsubstantial messages.
Sooooo.... If you had any arguments with a little more substance, then I'd be all ears for a better timing :-) Give me some more meat.

Steem is not Steemit, Inc. It's much more than that. You're mixing up a couple of things here.
But I guess this is not about Steem, it's just about yourself. You only needed a platform where to address your personal frustration. Sorry that I can't provide you with a stage here :-)

the majority of STEEM which dictated rewards and control of the platform was instantly created at zero cost and once the rest was farmed up in accounts the system rules were changed to ensure power was held and that noone could get support of community to disrupt the top 20 witness by earning on platform and t=so that they could launch their paid upvote bots to ensure they collect the majority of the liquid rewards from the platform
when as you can see a front end could easily implement a sidebar or other location on page to display paid promotions without skyrocketing inflation obsleting flags and devaluing the platform

how about director of steem ben johnsons account @ben receiving a deposit of 8kSP and powering down 4 million

Why did they leave?
The 20 people who came in through me left because it was too had to work here and they got no traction on their posts. The last person who tried to join never got approved or got any any response by steemit and would not try again with one of the dapps. I will not send people to steemit again, but instead will send them to one of the dapps.
I will be all in for this tomorrow in my social media. We need more people here, and this cannot come too soon.
Well we need to get the idea out of the people's head that Steem is a money printing mashine and that you get those tokens for free here I guess :-)

I would always keep sending people to steemit.com, but also informing them well about the option to purchase an account and instantly sign up. I mean who doesn't have a dollar to pay for an account if they really wanted to be part of it?

My people are content creators who already make money on other platforms and do not have to buy in - that's a sticking point.
I think we might have good chance at getting small business to buy in and come for the alexa ranking. But for my content creators, it's the dapps like share2steem and steempress that I think they would go for. Hoping anyway :)
Well I wouldn't call it buying in when you spend 1 dollar for an account :-) If you don't wanna spend that 1 dollar, you're not worth joining this network IMO. Account creation on the blockchain comes with a cost and somebody has to assume it. If not the account owners themselves, then who? :-)
It's all about opportunities - whether you're willing to take it or not. We won't force people to come here. They just miss a big chance if they stay away.
Trust me, I got a bunch of earfuls when my friends left. They were not impressed when they can post in other places and make good money overnight. Several of them check on me to see if I am still here in this nuthouse.
It works for me, but many are not wanting to jump through the hoops. The words, "blockchain" and "crypto" are drawbacks to steem right now. It took me four months to make the leap after I heard about this place, and those where the reasons I did not want to come here.
They need more than $1 with the rc madness these days. I set up a second account in Jan and it was unusable until I leased 100 sp. I could do that from this account. Others would need to spend cash or find a benefactor. They will if they see the potential, and hopefully soon more will.

Being a crypto enthusiast since 2013 I was researching new crypto's when I first found Steem. Being on "Steam" the gaming platform, I thought the name was stupid so I ignored it. Months later I saw it moving up on coinmarketcap and took a glance. I was instantly sold and have been happily steeming ever since!
This is a nice incentive! Will there be a party every day? I will try to participate next time!
Uhm.. well, I think I'll wait until a more mature next edition of Steem SimCity is released before tight the lace of my shoes too strong.
I mean, I'll wait until a so desired utopia like this one we are living in here right now. Finally can be better coded and well designed from the roots up.
And in this way, it can save me all the trouble of trying too hastly, recruit unsuspecting victims and unknowns chaps out there in a so bullish & blind fashion like that one of the Mormons & Jehovah's Witnesses.
More than anything, also to save me of so many insults and avoid the hassle to witness people's doors slammed shut in front of my nose so often. };)
