A Life Changing Evolution in Steemit Interaction: A Must Read for All Steemit Users [Contest is now LIVE!]

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Do you have projects that have been put on the backburner and could use some help bringing them to fruition?

Do you like to travel cheaply and have a skill to offer?

PSX_20171028_101334.jpg

Greetings fellow Steemit users,

Steemit is revolutionary in so many ways and will be in so many more that are yet to come. We have been given a way to decentralize the world and take the power from huge corporations, whose practices have harmed the world and our communities within it.

When we think about online-to-personal global connections, some shady practices of AirB&B might come to mind and other sites like wwoof, helpx and workaway charge a fee to connect on a human level.

Steemit can replace those platforms, make human connection the priority over profit and be the hub to bring Steemit users together, essentially eliminating borders.

What's better than a one page profile with a few paragraphs describing one's self?

The entirety of their Steemit Blog of course.

The Epiphany.jpg

A simple question in the front-porch on the HomesteadersOnline Discord server sparked an idea, which has motivated two Steemit users, @coyoteom and @notconvinced to find a solution.

The conversation read as follows:

@notconvinced:
Good morning everyone. I am surprised there is not a section for Natural Building. Is anyone building any strawbale, cob or hempcrete buildings this year?
@coyoteom:
we are looking to build a cob oven and incorporate Cobb or earthcrete into our bathhouse
@notconvinced:
I would be interested in such an event. I have built with cob and plan on earning a few certifications in the field and the last three years I have used workaway to travel and help others build naturally to learn organically. I would prefer to use steemit to find projects though.
@coyoteom:
I love the idea of being able to travel with knowledge of natural building to help folks get closer to nature and a humane lifestyle. Lots of things are tossed that are so usable, people just need help creating! A steemit map of people looking for help on projects in return for housing or meals would be awesome

The idea was born and the search for a solution was on. After contacting @martibis, the creator of SteemitWorldMap, we were informed this use was not only acceptable to him, but the available search function already allowed the map to provide the necessary functions.

Untitled design (5).jpg

  • Are you a property owner with a few projects planned, but don't have the funds to pay for a professional? Maybe you just need a few helping hands to make your dream project happen?
  • Do you dread weeding the garden or have quite a few things around the homestead that have been neglected, simply because you don't have the time?

  • Would you love to mentor others in your way of life and want to learn or teach a new language with Steemit users from another country?

  • Or maybe you have an extra room or couch and would like to offer them to a fellow traveler?

  • How about that empty shed that could be converted into a Tiny Home to rent or house a helper?

1455756084043.jpg

  • Are you a traveler that would rather get to know other similar minded people, instead of getting lost in a popular tourist destination?

  • Are you taking a year off from school to travel the world?

  • Do you have a skill that you would love to trade for room and board while traveling?

  • Do you want to learn a new skill, but your local educational facility doesn't offer a class for it?

The Solution

Steemit is full of talented travelers with skills ranging from coding, website design, to farming, auto repair and even skilled carpenters. Why not trade those assets for mutual benefit and better yet, make a new friend.

This will naturally pull Steemit together into a tighter knit community and create a more organic way to build your reputation. Plus, just think of all the new posts created as collaborations, not just single authors, which is currently the norm. I cannot think of a better direction for Steemit to grow in.

The proud and honorable Steemit user @martibis has built a complimentary platform called SteemitWorldMap, which is literally putting Steemit and it's users "on the map".

We are proposing a way for it to connect Steemit users in real life as well.

This map has so many uses with it's current search function that the only thing needed to bring Steemit users face to face, is the creation of a few community tags. I hope this idea can motivate a few updates, which could add a few more search points, like active dates, as well.

In order to utilize this map along with our platform idea, our hosting Steemit users need simply go to http://steemitworldmap.com, click the code button at the bottom, tap your location on the map and paste the provided link at the bottom of your post.

Both hosts and travelers would create a post using a template similar to the examples below, with the host linking it to their location on the map. The post should use the specified platform tags so it can be seen and shared among our many diverse communities.

(See the end of this post for exciting surprise details on which tags will be used!)

Finish your promo post by sharing it in the specified platform rooms in the HomesteadersOnline Discord. These rooms are soon to be created specifically for this program, and will be named after the 'steemified' tags. This will allow for easy integration and straightforward communication between users.

Wow. I mean WO-OW! This is it, @coyoteom! What an idea, and what way to make it happen using Steemit. Boom, resteemed, and what a resteem it is! Perfect for the first one in months. Thank you!
Having just returned from an amazing construction experience (albeit organized through friends, and not over an on-line platform) and weeks before the next one, I'm super excited to explore Steemit World Map.

It's nice to see likeminded people seeing the same potential here. Thank you for the great comment and resteem and I hope you participate in the naming contest, which will be posted in the next day or two from my blog.

I am excited for this too! I came out of my first build a couple years ago now and that feeling you're having now came right up when I first heard about this project.

See you on the map!
Ps: will you have some photos of your build anytime soon? I'm curious to hear (or see) what it was.

Hehehehe, the build was nothing special, really, only a massive wall. As for pics and posts, check out my latest entry (posted about an hour ago). It's the last installment of what I called my "Mazunte series" and it puts the wall into context. Some of the posts deal with tires, other with the place, the theater group, and other things. You'll see... Hope it's not too hard to navigate around them.

Aha cool, just made the connection with your name and the tire wall! Sorry it took a while...

Cool you have more photos! I have to go to sleep but I can still look a little while longer!

You would have found this post too huh!?

Stumbled across, I'd say... But more than anything it's a right place, right time thing. A week ago, while pounding tires in Oaxaca, chances would have been close to zero... unless someone sent me the link directly.

Your post has been featured in this week's earth-centered curation @the-hearth.

Thanks for writing such fantastic and inspiring content!

This makes me think of wwoofing but better. Great work!

Yes, yes, yes! A fee-free steemit combo pack of wwoofing, workaway, couchsurfing, helpx etc. etc.

I'm stoked to get to use this platform for attending workshops and skillshare homesteads around the globe. Even helping tutor english in trade for some native language skills before travelling the countries we plan on visiting.

The opportunities abound!

Also any kind of resource and service sharing could find a platform on steemit.
Carsharing, tool sharing, getting a lift to places, by car, sailboat, spaceship 😎
Meeting steemians in foreign places and getting local currency from them in exchange for Steem or SBD.
Steemit as a platform for mutual aid.

Steemit is such a versatile and incredible community, dare I say society! We can pretty much form an online world where we all support each other and interact with clarity and trust knowing that the support will come back around via our engagement with the community.

We hope you'll join our contest (to be announced tomorrow) to help create some effective names to the platform and the pair of community tags! @likedeeler, @canadianrenegade

I agree, the possibilities are endless.👍

Oh my... this is an amazing concept (on top of thread subject!) Skip the bank for local currency! Help a fellow steemian in return.

I am excited about this a lot!

It is very cool to see these kind of projects pop up! And it's amazing the map can be of help for this!

Looking forward to see the posts from hosts show up, this is a very cool initiative and I hope it brings more travelers together around the globe!

Thank you for stopping by and your blessing, my friend!

wowwwww !!!! can i just say whole-heartedly FUCK YES?!!!!

following!!! you get a 100% upvote and a resteem for this (went from $3.29 to $3.85)

thank you for your work in this awesome community
stay grateful STEEMERSgdfs.jpg

Nice grateful steemers logo!

Thank you...I didn’t make it but I did google steem and grafteful dead to find it!

Eitherway, I like it!

Thanks so much for the support! Stay tuned for the contest announcement tomorrow and help us get creative with naming this great program✨⚡

Will do! Thanks again for being you!

You may, my friend! Lol

Super exciting isnt it!?!!

Yes it is and I have been helping people just like this platform promotes the last 3 years, but it's been hard to find people that truly need the help. I hope this makes that search easier.

Upvote for the Steem Your Face!!

This is the next level in interaction on Steemit. How many more ways can we create to connect the world?

When you bring great minds together the possibilities are infinite and all should be as simple as this.

A perfect platform is where each interaction is voluntary with few or no strings attached. This one gives you that control. No fee's, no membership or seperate log in required. Easy- Peasy!

It's voluntaryism at its best.

Yes! Plus as a youthful female, I often felt really put off by the messages I would receive on sites like couch-surfing, so being able to see people's entire interactive timeline through the blockchain can really up the safety and community engagement.

I'm really excited about using this platform for me and my honey's future travels through India, South America and hopefully Canada too!

As a gal with a degree in linguistics, I think it would be an incredible way to teach and learn languages as well. Pretty much free learning environments, plus the posts that can come from these community interactions would be like the most supreme meet-ups! We could even organize big projects like helping people rebuild homes and start permaculture projects.

So Many Incredible Possibilities!

You're opening up a can of worms (good worms in this case!), the possibiloties are endless!

And it really is looking like you hit on something that is absolutely needed. A lot of steemians already commenting!

how cool is this?!?!?! I am so looking forward to watching this develop!! Looks like a great relationship formed, once again - Steemit has fostered new ideas and perfect connections to fuel growth! awesome @notconvinced!!!! :)

Thank you so much, my friend! I knew you would appreciate a platform such as this. I know your vacation was a blast and you'll probably need a few days to recover. I am super happy your whole family was able to make the Cruise. Welcome home.

So true.. a few days at least hehehe and yes! The whole family!!!! (Talk of the next "reunion" has already begun hehehe)
Thanks for the welcome home!!! (I love those words for so many reasons hehehe)

Totally agree with Steemit having fueled old ideas back to the surface or bringing about new ideas. So many things I had on the back burner are coming back to life at the moment. I've been saying that ever since I got on this blockchain!

Thanks Steemit!

The way this platform works is simplicity almost at its best. This is how I prefer it.

Every step is simple and voluntary, while requiring no interaction in between. It is completely autonomous and needs no one behind the scenes. No leaders and no followers, just user's.

oh my gosh. If you get this off and running and people flock and interact without any gentle prodding... i shall sit at your feet and learn, O Jedi Master.

hehehehehe i wish I could run a treasure hunt and award prizes without needing to do any work behind the scenes!!! LOLOLOL but then... that would be impossible hahahaha. (unless youhave ideas?!?!?!?! if so!!! please telll meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) hahaha

I will be sure to let you know if I am hit with an epiphany.

I do know that the photocontests channel uses a bot that automates some of the same thing you are doing, like collecting upvotes and comments on relevent posts.

heheheh sounds good to me! i wait with bated breath for epiphanies ;)

i'm dying to give my name to the contest...... where be yer post announcing it??? hehehe

In two hours...tick tock...lol

aghhhhhh he knows i don't like to wait. why did he do that. lol

wait!!!! WAIT. mark today's date down on a calendar!!!! you just committed to a time! LOLOL

Awesome, @coyoteom and @notconvinced. I'm glad I ran into you both the other day.

I am really stocked for this platform to take off. I have been busy all weekend and haven't been on the Discord channel for Homesteaders Online till just now! But I am still in for helping in some way. I like this linking up of people that will happen through it.

Heads up for the North East USA... we will be posting for help in the near future for sure (Mostly will be teaching Natural Building)

Thanks again you guys and thanks to @martibis for creating the map we can use too!

I'm no big fish but Re-steeming this. See you on the contest thread

Thank you my friend, every little bit helps. Make sure to look out for announcement of the naming contest tomorrow afternoon. I am glad you were able to stop by.😀

Will do, for sure. I have some ideas already for some names!

Thanks again for having contacted me about this.

fantastic and inspiring friends! love that you've done the groundwork on this idea to stimulate all of us! wowza! this is fantastic... i wonder if there could also be a page that resteems all of the offerings/lookers. @the-hearth could certainly help with this and filter ones that come across our path! ... love the idea. as someone who has learned a huge chunk of wisdom about farming, gardening, natural building, etc from traveling, wwoofing, etc, I LOVE SEEING THIS ON THE BLOCKCHAIN! woooo! Resteemed.

We do plan on creating one or a couple of spin-off channels for that very reason. We need the names first and are going to post a contest tomorrow to do just that.

I know right, this is so great! Ideas a strong here. It feels like I have met so many more "doers" on steemit than I have out and about!

Curating these posts and filtering is a good idea. Perhaps it could be somehow split into different areas of the world somehow... oh yeah, the map!

Nice, resteemed too!

Yes thanks for the engagement and hearth-work @mountainjewel.
We have talked about creating a curation account for the platform, named after the platform. I think it would definitely serve well to have it be a bit of a community curation effort where users can send in lists of different types of these collaborative creative efforts (or wishes to be) to be shared on the account.

The curation page would help make it easy for followers sort through what help is needed in different areas, allowing things like creative gatherings or workshop announcements to use the same community-search tags as the homestead help posts. Reflectively , it would allow people looking to volunteer on farms etc then could still use the same tag as people looking for a place to sleep in their travels!

That's why we would love engagement with the naming contest (to be announced tomorrow, 3/19!).

Making a single curated platform with two tags instead of many allows more opportunity for them to become trending and would get all of steemit much more involved in this helpful community aspect.

yes ! great ideas you two.. definitely putting some excellent thought into this :) thanks! <3

interesting concept in a time where money is scarce and sustainability vs. overpopulation will probably make it so in most parts of the world a human won't be worth its weight in soil by the end of the century (according to the numbers before that) ... allowe me to offer a resteem to my humble audience and a smallvote.jpeg allthough its a bit troublesome votes over 90% aint worth half a cent anymore today ... but as these things go up and down that might be a matter of waiting (or not ...) its still the niche network for niche people if you weed out the bots and marketeers though and im sure the CEO cant really say he's getting poor from it ...

sig :

viewed, voted, commented, and re-steemed ...

i am not a bot and i only have one account ... and im not half as bad a lunatic as it might appear but i need to hide from the normals or they come to pick my brains

anyone follows me i'll follow back within a few days

if you have complaints please check the link(where did that link go), or else just do that content dictator thing you do i no longer care ... a resteem is a resteem, atm to 355 people, thats 355 chances to have it re-resteemed,
Free speech is either absolutely free or it is not at all. It was meant to be free for everybody : how can anyone grow up in a nanny state?
1.png

(im thinking on putting up a post i can use as a link for the sig holding all my profiles, putting this in every time gets lengthy and somewhat of an aesthetic layout mess.)

good luck with the project i'll mark it in my firebook

I fully believe that the future of our world is not in competitive business but in cooperative community engagement.
hank you for the resteem @rudyardcatling! We hope you will take part in our naming contest so we can get a lot of creative minds in on this collaborative effort. Cheers!

I don't understand what you are trying to convey.

i get that a lot :)

but i hope the vote helps

It does my friend, thank you.

I've volunteered on farms I've found through people I know, and the idea of expanding that network through a decentralized network of hosts and volunteers is just brilliant. Everyone stand to benefit. Our homestead is still in its early years and I'm not sure if I'm capable of hosting people just yet, but I'd love to be a part of this when we are.

@soulturtle I have thought about trying to contact you in the past, before @notconvinced and I worked on this, just thinking that maybe when my fella and I travel to india we might have the opportunity of knowing someone local that can help us with travel tips, finding cheaper prices on goods etc.

One thing about this concept of 'hosting' is that the 'host' really is just the local connection in need of help. The things you have to offer can be quite endless, especially if you are communicative and engaged with the travelers before they arrive. Some people might be happy to help out for a while in trade for simpler offerings than accommodation.

And like @notconvinced said, a place to pitch a tent is often quite enough! That's how I was able to stay in a beautiful town in Spain actually, a friend knew someone who lived in Cadaques with a simple flat hill behind their home and a small tent to share. My brother and I slept on the hillside and explored the town for a week-- requesting nothing else from our hosts but a few sweet+simple conversations in Spanish. It was MAGIC!

Yes, I get that it needn't only be homesteading related but could involve a wide array of things.
This could be so much more than wwoof. It's a great way to connect with people and thrive through collaboration.

Your Spanish experience sounds wonderful! I've been very happy in tents too. You really only need them to sleep and spending so much time outdoors is quite magical. We're at the very early stages of our homesteading journey so have to first have the essentials like accessible drinking water in place. We are planning community builds though and if a steemian happens to join in that would be so great.

Do let me know if you make it to India, I'll be able to put you in touch with the free spirits of our communities.

Best of luck with this project!

You are very capable! I prefer simplicity and just need a place to pitch a tent and a few meals.

The original purpose of creating this is too get those the help they need to create the life, which is beneficial to all. Every person that becomes more independent, takes that stress off the system as a whole.

Hosting a person or two will not only help you get a few things done that maybe you couldn't otherwise, but having another head or two looking at your options can inspire ideas to speed up your plans as well.

Being able to provide delux accommodations is not necessary.

I think I feel unprepared because I myself haven't been living on the land yet. I'm all set to move there next month and once I set up a few basic amenities I can invite other people. Coincidentally I was talking with some of my neighbours who run a backpacker's lodge. We're planning on having a volunteer program where their guests come work on the land to experience farm life. We're slowly building a community and if that could be extended onto the blockchain, that would be amazing!

Having a network of individuals who mutually benefit from collaboration would liberate a lot of people and make them less dependent on the conventional system . So many of us have amazing skills, resources and knowledge and pooling them together is quite empowering

I agree and it sounds like you'll be starting out with a few great resources at your fingertips.

Yes, so excites you saw this post @soulturtle. Word of mouth for this type of exchange can go a long way but extanding it through steemit is awesome!

Maybe you and I can meet one day.

Ps: I got that turtle I promised you:
20180317_181020.jpg

Definitely. It would be awesome to meet you someday. You've even been to India before and probably passed by the family's house on the way to Pondicherry, haha. Imagine if we'd had this kinda network then. It's a great idea for anyone travelling.

Those turtle benches are amazing! I want one. Perhaps one of our projects could be a cobb turtle bench.

I probably did pass through, maybe a couple times too!

Exactly why this is an idea that is should gain a lot of attention, we can't let the momentum slip away!

Happy to hear next time we will meet! Hopefuly you'll have made that turtle bench.

This is a really cool idea! I might possibly be able to host someone sometime this summer. I have 4 acre property and I can't ever keep up with all the work here. I need help gardening and tree trimming, I have fences to repair and compost boxes that need to be built, greenhouses that need to be repaired or rebuilt... the list goes on. And I have an extra room where someone could stay. Nothing fancy, but it's a place to stay.

I can't wait to see your post. I don't need a room, just a place to pitch a tent...

That's fantastic! These are all very doable projects and the steemit community would definitely benefit from a room to stay (even the opportunity to help complete these projects is reward enough for many folks!)

We hope you'll join in on the contest we are announcing tomorrow (3/19) to name the platform and create some community tags!

Look it's already started! I love this.

This is awsome guys! I really wanted a way to meet up with others in my area interested in rocket mass heaters. Now I will be able to post it up on a map! We will also be utilising this when we finally find out land.

Awesome! I'm definitely interested in rocket mass heaters, would love to build a greenhouse with a rocket stove built into the back wall. The back wall would actually/hopefully be connected to a simple living space for guests-- doubling the use of the heater to bring warmth to our plants friends and human friends!

Oh yeah, really popular option. Buried or earth bermed greenhouses are the best as they store heat, keeping a constant temperature.

PostHuntress, @the-curator

Great job, my friend. Upvoted and resteemed.

Oh my gosh. Thank you so much.
And we really do appreciate what you guys are doing.
Sincerely. PostHuntress, @the-curator

I love this whole idea! My wife @freedomtowrite and I were just talking about something like this. We hope to live in a bus and travel to meet steemians! This will help for sure! Be well!

The ultimate steemit meetups along the way.

Maybe folks could even make a cross country steemit tour! I know that type of thing happens with long distance trail hiking: folks volunteer as trail angels and provide hikers with places to stay or trail supplies...

That is amazing! We are hoping to be in a bus. So a parking spot and some good company would be nice!

It's great to see so many that will find this platform useful. I hope our paths cross in our travels.

A damn good idea. The best I've seen on here yet.

I'm sponsoring you a @steembasicincome share right now so you'll get upvotes from them for life courtesy of me as my way of thanking you.

I hope to use this system for the benefit of my community. My family and I are buying a home in two weeks on half an acre, and I intend to farm it and make improvements to the property. I would absolutely love to get my community set up on a system like this that we can all use to build each other up in mutually beneficial ways!

@notconvinced is getting one as well. Y'all absolutely rock!

Screenshot_20180318-235530.png

Done. Thank you guys. Headed to sign myself in now.

Thank you my friend, one can never have too many shares in SteemitBasicIncome

You're dearly welcome! I'm making a bit of a collection of them myself lol

Help me understand this project. We go to that site and log our place, project, or service, and people can see it that way?

You create a post first, touching on some of the points we put in the example templates above in the post. Detailed instructions are also above. Go to steemitworldmap and tap code, then find your location and tap it. The red marker will appear and a code will appear where the code button was. Copy the code and paste it in your post. Your post is now linked to the map.

The GIF above shows the process and the map kind of guides you through it. Once you do it, it'll be easier than it seems.

Once we decide on the names, @coyoteom and I will be resteeming the posts through the dedicated Steemit Channel we create and there will be a seperate post-drop room for both helpers and hosts in the HomesteadersOnline Discord where you can also add it.

We'll be posting about the platform more over the next few weeks with detailed instruction, more gifs showing the process and answering any questions in the comments and those posed on the discord channel.

I hope this helps.

That helps immensely! Sorry, my comprehension isn't what it used to be. Too many metal fumes lol

I'll rack my brain and see if I can get an idea for the naming contest tonight while I'm at work.

I have actually been sponsored into this great program previously! Thank you for uour support, I will take the opportunity to sponsor another member of our community into @steembasicincome 😊

@notconvinced and I were really excited to collaborate on this and get it out into the blockchain. We would love to help instigate real human-to-human engagement and community building through this platform.
We hope you will join our contest to help name this project and create the community tags for it!

I think y'all are the 4th and 5th folks I've sponsored. It's a damn good project. I think I've actually spent every bit of profit I've made here on sbi shares.

ur the man nate! appreciate what ya do!

Man, I didn't do anything lol

It looks like you will be able to make good use of the platform very soon. There are a lot of people interested in this amazing idea!

I know, look at all the comments! People wanting to help each other! These guys are doing a good thing here.

So cool! I'm excited to get started with a post for help in June, as soon as the fever breaks. I'll try

I have never been to your neck of the woods and am always up for a change of scenery.

I'll be looking for your post.

I want to build an outdoor kitchen made of cob or wattle and daub and a liveroof

Well, building with cob is a chore, but will last a lifetime. From building with it, I decided to never build a building from it for myself. It is more suited to ovens and Rocket Mass Heater systems, but would be perfect for an outdoor open kitchen.

I am not as familiar with wattle and daub and always am willing to work with something new.

I need to do a little research to see how durable it is.

Hello @coyoteom,

Love it!!

I have, in the back of my mind, this idea to create a "Jamfest" where musicians can come from all over the world to a field somewhere and spend a week jamming with other musicians.
It's really just an idea at the moment but as I am already part of a fairly large online musician's community via my website there is a good chance this could happen in a few years.

Using the map so people can arrange to travel together or maybe even set up local "Jamfests" would be perfect!!

Love the community on Steemit - you are the best!!

Add dsound & Musicoin tracks and get more plays!

Follow @JuxtaMusic for More Of My Music

Hopefully with this ability, you can organise something a bit sooner, my friend.

Let's hope so. The indie music scene needs it!

Beautiful idea! Making this platform a space that is focused mainly on collaboration between steemit users definitely allows the creation of festivals and gatherings of all sorts. Workshops and meetup ideas abound!

A space to see helping hands around the world is definitely handy, but who says we can't utilize the map along with this collaborative community platform for so much more?

We hope you'll join in on the naming contest to help make this platform a good base for these collaborative creative efforts. Keep your eye out tomorrow for the post!

Can you comment with a link to the post so I see it in my GinaBot notifications please. I tend to miss things on my feed. Thanks!

Hey @atomcollector, sorry I must have missed this comment.
The contest is now live, the contest post can be found here

Thank you! Gina just told me :P

Jamfest... hmmm I may have some friends who'd be into this!

Send the mover to AtomCollectorRecords.com to sign up for free and they can keep in the loop and get their music heard as well as meeting a lot of great independent musicians.

Right on. I have neen trying to talk dome musician griends into checking out steemit and dspund....it's taking them a long time to do it so far.

Ypu know how hard it is to switch networking platform! But I will mention this to them

This is a great idea! I'll be sure to add myself to the map!

Yes! And if you're feeling interactive get your chance with the SBD prize pool by helping us come up with some names for the platform and community tags! We will be posting the contest tomorrow (3/19)

Yay this is a great idea! I am currently a traveler with a dream of starting a homesteading one day, so I'm definitely interested :)

So nice to hear another traveler lookong to homestead! Following you!

And yet another like-minded individual. Nice to meet you, my friend.

thank you, nice to meet you too :D

Right on! I'm a traveler and a homesteader so I am really (selfishly perhaps) looking forward to getting to use this platform in our future <3
thanks for the engagement! Keep your eye out for the contest announcement tomorrow @frejafri!

Lol.. the selfish side of my traveling self is building a multi-fmaily artist homestead with anarchist tendencies just for that so we can have animals, a garden and still travelnfrom time to time. As long as not everyone leaves everything should work out...

That sounds very interesting! I fully support self sufficiency and believe humans should be free to regain personal control over their lives.

yes, sounds super interesting, following you too!

Thanks @frejafri see you on the Map!

What a fabulous idea, It would defiantly make it easier for everyone to connect for those that need help or have help to offer.
Seen videos were people help make cob house, and eco domes, but didn't know were to start for people power :D.
It may encourage people to full there dreams of sustainability knowing there is a way to ask for help and guidance thru barter.

I found a cob building class/workshop online once and it was great actually. Buy this will bring the networking for this kind of thing closer to our fingertips.

Expect some posts coming from me. We will need help and we can offer auite a bit of knowledge from traveling to scavanging to building with natural materials!

Very exciting times we live in!

The cover photo is from a Cob Cottage build I volunteered a full summer to help on. I am glad you like the idea.

It looks amazing the Cob cottage, it's very interesting that there are people willing to volunteer and help others, while helping each other.

Just think, that it wasn't really that long ago, helping your neighbor was the norm. It needs to come full circle back to those times.

It always makes me think of the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." Communities used to be much more locally engaged, and this created a very supportive local help network for the individuals. We are definitely missing this concept in our day and age!

This is amazing! @artystuff @missysheshe86

I am glad you think so, it sure does seem to provide a useful function in todays society and I am loving the engagement this post has inspired.

"Finish your promo post by sharing it in the specified platform rooms in the HomesteadersOnline Discord. These rooms are soon to be created specifically for this program, and will be named after the 'steemified' tags. This will allow for easy integration and straightforward communication between users."

I've found the Discord site very confusing to use. I've never been able to find any room that might have been mentioned in a post. Is there such a thing as a direct link? (a real Neanderthal here when it comes to this stuff..)

Or perhaps a really complete description on how to get to this place?

I've been a WWOOF host for many years and would like to participate in this Steemit program.

Nice to meet you! We do plan on creating a channel or two on Steemit to resteem blogs posted under the tags we create from our contest being announced tomorrow. So using Discord isn't necessary, but does increase your exposure.

Here is HomesteadersOnline Discord invite link. https://discord.gg/VKCrWsS

As long as you use the Steemit tags in your post, which will be announced a week from tomorrow, you'll be searchable on the platform.

Thank you for answering this concern with such precision @notconvinced 👏👏👏

I totally have a shed that I want converted into a tiny home, and I love this idea! Steem on! :)

LMAO, I knew that would resonate with someone. I hope you achieve that goal.

I know a few folks willing to help build a tiny home 😉😉

Oh my lord, yes! This is fantastic. I am coming from Belize to UK at a some point soon and can think of so many uses for this, and of course Belize is lovely, and we don't own our house but would totally happily host couch surfers. This is awesome!!!!!!

Beautiful! Would love to couchsurf in Belize 😍

Well, it's more like floor surfing since we don't have a couch at the moment, but we do have lots of sleeping bags and a pretty badass tent. Belize is really awesome.

I couldn't agree more and find myself so excited to see that you and so many people understand the profound implications of this platform!!

My brother isn't actually a user of social media, but he introduced me to steemit and ever since then I have been so excited about all the possibilities it presents. A very engaged community!

This is awesome. I recently found a piece of land that would be a dream come true if I could afford to buy it. I am hoping within the next two or so years I'll be able to buy it. 120 acres for 120 grand. 40 acres of flag, 80 acres of woods with a river running throuhg it. I wanted to make a tiny-house campground. My problem is money of course. This kind of falls in hand with your project because it would be a place for travelers / campers to come and enjoy the greatest outdoor city in america (nominated by outside magazine) - Duluth/Superior (The Twin Ports). I will keep an eye on this!

Nice @bitfiend, I am glad you found this thread! I believe it is an amazing idea that could connect everyone who is on that dame train of thought.

I'm sorry if you told me before but I didn't know you wanted to build a place for travelers... this what we're doing as well, within the multi-family artist homestead!

If you dream it you can make it happen, remember that!

No I never told you -- I guess you can say I have a lot of dreams! Found this through your resteem! :) About 5 or 6 years ago there was this tiny little house thing on the side of the road near my house for a long time. It was basically a tiny house sitting in the field on a trailer. Basically abandoned but it looked livable. It's gone now, but I thought to myself that if the city put 10 of those on that little slab of unused land it would help the homeless. Shortly thereafter I discovered the whole tiny house frenzy and it's really taken off. I'd like to get my hands on a trailer and build one. I've got a few designs in mind as well for a tiny house campground. I think that in the future crypto will allow me to do this. and maybe steemit. It's hard to do it alone so it's mostly just dreams for now until I find the right people to help me. Of course financing and some pretty serious wealth is required and I'm far from there yet. Always felt that crypto would be the place where I will make a difference. Wish I had invested properly back then!

Nice idea and I have had a similar vision. Every since I got into natural building, I have been thinking about building many different types of natural tiny living structures and then renting them out.

The whole layout of the cabins would be laid out in a fantasy design looking magical and allow for community engagement, while allowing for pure privacy as well.

I don't plan on buying the land to do this for a long while, but it's my retirement dream.

Awesome awesome awesome !!! [there's a Steemit airbnb already though, can't remember the name!]
Please, when the new post comes today, make sure to post it on post-promo at @steemsugars tagging everyone !!! :)))

Thanks for this comment!

We think that a palpable difference between the usual airbnb format and this program is the lack of monetization, moving towards volunteer work, community engagement and skill sharing as the main motivation. This program simply would create a shared space for steemit users to get more precisely involved with the world around them, in a non-(money)-profit manner. Of course the social and communal profits would abound through helping each other create and commune.

We would love to see steemit move to a community based around human engagement rather than monetized-motives.

Yes, that's what I meant - I think that kind of exists already, I just can't remember the name... maybe you can look it up... It's a Steemian-to-Steemian service especially for travelers. I think someone mentioned it during steemfest ;)

Thanks! We will check it out and hopefully we can help incorporate it into the map and curation services!

I'll have to check that out, I haven't heard of SteemSugars. Thanks for your excitement and support, my friend.

@coyoteom is already a member ;)

Seriously interested.

Where is this conversation happening now?
I will check the homesteadersonline group for this too.

I have much to offer to the initiative and the reality.

We are trying to get the conversation about this topic going. Once we get this off the ground and people start to use it, so their idea's can more easily be turned into a physical reality, I believe the conversation will blossom into something more here on Steemit.

I can't believe I missed the conversation about natural building! It's something I've been researching for our forever homestead! I was also thinking of having a cob workshop at our place in the future. I'm going to be watching this!

Hello, I hope you use the platform to invite a few of us to help out.

There was a guy (rip) who had volunteers for home gardens in the 90's. It's a great idea. I love children so can we get a public school contract to teach kids to farm, tie knots and make something out of wood. I wanna help. :). Great ideas from great Steemers.
Joy

Some schools are adding gardens into their curriculum. I bet if you have Steemians in your area that homeschool, they'd be very interested in such an idea.

The possibilities are truly infinite with the right minds involved. Your mind is amongst them.😀

Yes. I will ask around. Thanks.
Joy

Sounds like an interesting project, maybe someone could build something more specific from this idea on the STEEM blockchain using these new creative tookens?

We are hoping to find an interested programmer that could help us tweak the map to be more specific to this project. Right now it's used for multiple purposes.

We do have a vision to grow the platform beyond it's current limits, eventually. It has to prove itself first.

Thanks for stopping by and adding to the conversation.

If you like, we are taking suggestions for naming the platform and unique tags and offering SBD for the chosen one's.

Here's the link; https://steemit.com/contest/@notconvinced/alright-my-friends-it-s-time-to-give-this-platform-a-name

Cool, thanks for you're reply, I am not a dev, or at least I am not skilled at programming for this platform. But if I find someone who is, I will try and remember to send him/her your way. I will check out the naming link, and see if I can come up with something. Cheers and good luck with your project!

I love this project... but unfortunately I can't be put on the map... I'll gladly resteem this post though and wish you good luck with this endeavour!

Thanks so much for the resteem and well wishes! A nice part about this is it is all voluntary, so you still could get a lot of engagement through this project by volunteering to help others while you travel.

really helpful and insightful, bringing the world closer and bringing back the gifts of sharing, serving, loving others. Brilliant.

i don't have proper words to express how awesome this is. there are so many ideas, projects, possibilities ... it's beautiful! @coyoteom, @notconvinced, y'all are bad-asses for heading this initiative up! i would love to help contribute, or host, if i can figure something out. if nothing else, i'll resteem and upvote the shit out of ALL OF IT!!! :)

Your blessing is help enough! Thank you for adding your thoughts to the conversation. 😀✌👍😜

We would love to have you as part of the community @twinislandflames,
If you think of some creative ideas for names or tags, head over to the contest post!

We are also taking name suggestions for the tags and platform itself. Feel free to stop by and add your suggestions.https://steemit.com/contest/@notconvinced/alright-my-friends-it-s-time-to-give-this-platform-a-name

i will brood over this & share if something pops into my brain!

Love it!!

Thanks to @randomwanderings, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.

Thank you for your efforts to create quality content.

Yeah! Thanks so much @randomwanderings and @sneakyninja, we are excited to help contribute to the community ⚡

Thank you very much!

You're welcome!

This is an excellent initiative.

Would one or both of you (@coyoteom / @notconvinced) like to come on the Alternative Lifestyle Show on MSP Waves Radio to tell people more about the project?

Message me on Discord if you are interested @Pennsif#9921

No thanks, but thank you for asking. @coyoteom may be, but your tag didn't take. This one did.

So much love for this post!!

This is an outstanding idea. Resteemed and upvoted.

As owner of a mini organic farm in Tennessee, we have a ton of things that really need doing, but we just haven't had the money and manpower to accomplish them.

And, at the same time, I have a lot of knowledge I could share, on several subjects, which could make it worthwhile for people who want to come help, and could leave with experience and greater knowledge. Win/win!!!

This is beautiful. I wish I weren't so late to the party so I could resteem this. I can't wait to get involved in this in a few months.

Glad to see you are interested in getting involved! We hope this will bring a lot of benefit to steemians around the world.
No worries on being 'late to the party', my friend, the party has just begun!

Check out our most recent post introducing the platform S-H-E-P, which you are welcome to resteem if you so desire!

Done and done.

🎉🎶🎂

this looks like a fantastic and well thought out idea! I hope you can make this work .. bring it on!

This is huge for guy like me about to buy land to homestead on. My first task is to be building a few cabins in the forest for nature buffs and hunters alike to enjoy. What a relief to know theres a need for it.
