Tips from uncle G-dog - Build your hive brand with ease!

in #thoughts4 years ago (edited)

So you're on hive and want to build your account, gain followers and see that hive-wallet start to tick over huh? Great, we're glad to have you here! It's a fantastic community where you can explore your creative side, learn things about other people and places and also meet some really nice people. Here, you can have a lot of fun and get paid to do so!

Sounds great right?

It's easy too...Just post something and the cash will roll in...

...Erm...Actually no, it won't.

It actually takes effort to build here, not huge amounts, but certainly some is required. I'm here to give you a few tips based on my own experiences over the last three years and whilst I'm not a massive account, feel qualified to offer a few ideas to you new, and not-so-new, people who want to build something here. If you don't want to build your account just ignore them.

These tips are not in any particular order but if applied holistically, that means all together, and consistently I will *guarantee your account will grow. So, settle in for some uncle G-dog dot-points y'all!

Engage and join the @abh12345 ENGAGEMENT LEAGUE

This is very important which is why it is first. If you do nothing else do this, a lot.

Engagement puts you on the radar and allows other accounts to see you around the community, commenting and getting involved. This is the single most important thing you can do, and the most powerful.

An example? Over the last few weeks I've gained around 100 followers and I asked about 60% of them why they followed me.

Every single one of them told me it was because I commented on their posts, and continued to comment. Yep, I engaged! See what I mean?

  • Read other peoples posts
  • Comment with relevance and interest
  • Avoid one-word comments
  • Show passion and personality
  • Set a goal of 15-20 outbound comments a day
  • Follow up and continue to comment moving forward

The ENGAGEMENT LEAGUE

  • You don't need to do anything but join as @abh12345 does all the work
  • It tracks your weekly engagement numbers like comments made, people you commented on, how many characters you wrote, how many votes you handed out and accounts you voted on
  • You have to do no work at all, except engage, yep, I'm saying this again

Below is what the table looks like and you can see last weeks results shown. the dot-point list explains the metrics tracked. A quick look at last weeks results will show you what other people are doing as far as engagement numbers and will demonstrate what it takes to get into the upper levels.

  • Posts (P)
  • Comments - number of (C)
  • Number of people spoken to (PS)
  • Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
  • Comments - length in characters (C L)
  • Witness votes (W) (for those voting via proxy, your total is always 30)
  • Up-votes to others (V)
  • Up-votes to different authors (U V)
  • Self-votes - No minus score but no bonus HIVE(S V)

The engagement league is the easiest way on the blockchain to track your numbers and knowing what you did last week will help you aim for better next week. It's pretty simple. But there's more y'all.

Being in the engagement league means you'll be putting yourself amongst some of the most prolific engagers on the blockchain. See the names on that list above? That's them. And trust me, you want to be there!

Why? Because people see your name there and it registers with them. They are like who? I better go check out @so-and-so and see who they are. Boom, you have a chance to engage with someone new! Do you get it?

All you have to do to join the engagement league is comment in the last EL post which you can find right here. Just comment like this:

Hey, uncle G-dog reckons I should join the EL..Can you add me please Asher?

You can leave the uncle G-dog part out if you like.

You will be included and you can start tracking your numbers. The weekly EL post comes out on Sunday each week.

Want more? Keep reading for a few do, and do not do, items.

Here's a few random tips that I feel are important to getting things moving here on hive, to build your brand, which in turn will see you build your account. I'll dot-point them to make it easy.

  • Engage with others on their posts...I know I said this above but it's that important ok? Do it!
  • Apply passion, personality and effort to your own posts. Don't just post a single picture with no words, you want people who go to your blog to have something interesting to see. They don't need to be as long as my posts are, but give us something to engage with.
  • Post about what you like, know and are interested in - People will see through it if you don't, and will click away. Sure, branch out and experiment, but if you're not a rocket scientist don't pretend to be.
  • If someone comments on your post don't just write "thanks" in reply. That ends any chance for you to engage with them further. If you do that to me I never come back. Ever. Why would I bother? You have just lost a chance to engage with me and possibly get a follow, or at least someone who will vote on you.
  • Don't ever ask for votes or follows. Ever. Like, ever. Savvy?
  • Don't consistently tag users into your posts you don't really know or don't have relationships with...It's annoying and will only serve to isolate you. Just engage with them on their posts and they will see you, I promise.
  • Ask questions so that you can learn your way around. Many do this with me, on my posts and on Discord. I don't mind, and neither will other more established accounts. This also works nicely when engaging with people...Asking questions, showing interest in them and their interests will help keep them engaged with you.
  • Don't plagiarise text or photos. Seriously, it sticks out like a sore thumb, especially when people who don't hold english as their first language do it. You'll get downvoted and put on a blacklist and once there...Well, it's pretty hard to come back from it.
  • Don't try and be the smartest person in the room. You're not. Trust me. There's always someone smarter, and needing to be right all the time isn't a very good way to endear yourself to other people. They'll just move on.
  • Be consistent. Don't send a message or two and expect that user to be your best mate. Take the time to come back, engage on a post or two and keep the relationship solid. Nurture it.
  • Set goals for engagement like 15-20 comments per day and measure your week against the actual numbers on the engagement league table on Sunday. Do not under estimate the power of goal-setting and tracking your results.
  • Look for good content on some of the curation initiatives. I curate for @curangel and @c-squared and they're a good place to start. Follow and look for what posts are being curated. Engage with those accounts and build relationships.
  • Use communities. Post in them and look for people to engage with within them. You will be amazed at what you may find and how it may work for you. Don't just post in a community because you think you may score a little upvote, post there to post amongst like-minded people! @ocd announced a while ago that they are going to start curating across all communities, and they have been doing so...So use communities. Make sure you read the rules each community sets though; Posting a bowl of soup into THE PEW community won't work so well.

Ok, so I think that's enough for now.

I invite you to ask questions in the comments and will answer them as best I can, or direct you to someone who can. I don't mind at all, and neither will they.

This is our community, a group of people all gathered together and there's room for more, for you! Each of us can find real value here, in engagement, personal enjoyment and of course monetary.

If you don't want to build your brand you can ignore all of the above, but if you're keen to grow your account for the future then you're going to need to do some of these things, if not all.

I just want to underline one point again though...ENGAGEMENT...It really is the vehicle that will allow you to build as quickly as possible, and will put you on the map.

Join the Engagement League now, right here

That is all.

Thank you @galenkp i am new here and this post has given me the right paths to follow and do very much appreciate you putting this out to us i will go ahead and follow up these helping points. Thanks again for your help 👍

Also have re-blogged your post.

Hey there @kohsamui99 it's great to have you here, and I really appreciate you taking the time to read, comment on and reblog my post. I spent a long time working hard to build my brand here, and am still doing it...I feel it's the responsibility of us older folks (longer on-chain) to offer a helping hand where possible. It's why I wrote this stuff, and also posts like a post a few hours ago showcasing a few newer accounts who I have recently followed.

Engagement is so very important here, and besides, it's way more fun bringing a much deeper experience to hive.

I'll head over and have a look at your posts mate, but thanks again for your comment and I hope to see you in the Engagement League next week. Let me know if you have any questions ever...Happy to help.

EDIT: An Aussie? Should have known...Lol. OK, back to your posts.

Thank you for your welcome @galenkp much appreciated i am still finding my way around here at the moment and will try to find a brand that i can feel comfortable with but for now no question if i do i will not be as rude as Grouchy ...haha..but he is a cool dude 😆

Thank you for offering your help and checking out my post and the follow , Cheers mate 👍

Don't take Grouchy's lead on hive...Might not go so well for you.

You're welcome. Thanks for engaging, it make a difference...People engage back, and offer votes and follows...Funny that huh?

Reblogged and am tagging a couple of people who are big on engagement and should consider @abh12345 's engagement league:
@jongolson
@pixiepost
@clicktrackprofit

Thanks for the shout out man :) Much appreciated!

I started sponsoring the 'numbers' on the Engagement League last week...Now I should really get motived and start tracking my stats huh ;)

Awesome project!

Just drop a comment in engagement league post and you will be on the list.

I really like this project also. Engagement is something we really are passionate about so this is perfect. Thanks @mytechtrail for thinking of Jon and myself. I am excited to see how this goes...🧚😊🙌

Thanks mate, I really appreciate this...The more people see it the more we drive engagement. Good work!

Love these tips man!

I have a confession....I've been so out of the loop when it comes to the Engagement League, but starting to put the pieces together.

Heck, I just started to follow a curation trail like a week and a half ago and I've been on the blockchain for almost 3 years LOL

Slow and steady!

Apologies for not commenting and reaching out sooner...It's amazing how new some of this stuff is for me, even though I think I'm a huge HIVE fan boy. Still learning everyday.

Going to share this with my tribe and thanks to @mytechtrail for the recommendation!

Hey mate, thanks for your reply.

It's difficult to know everything here, I certainly don't, however the EL is a great way to see how you're tracking in respect of engagement, the most important thing here to build an account!

Join up and start getting an understanding of where you sit. Aim for top 100, then top 50 and so on. It's a good measure...It's not about winning the League, it's about engaging more and if helps, trust me.You account will grow for sure.

Thanks for sharing my post and thanks to @mytechtrail for alerting you to my post in the first place.

Awesome. Thanks man. Yeah it's right up my alley. Exactly what I believe in so much here...Looking forward to getting more involved :)

Yeah some solid tips here and I'm honoured to be floating at the bottom of that engagement league screenshot there haha! It's pretty cool to get involved with though, I do like the gamification things going on with Hive, including @hivebuzz too which keeps you motivated as you earn badges just by being around!

I think one thing I've noticed is that there is a balance to be had. I've been burning out since finishing 3rd a couple of weeks ago and think that's where the line needs to be drawn for sure. There's also the fun element too, the good thing about communities is it allows like minded people to come together which is a cause for more natural engagement!

I would have liked to show everyone's name in the league but the image wouldn't let me...The link is there though and anyone going there will see it. Everyone in the EL is a star and it's a great way of keeping track If only more saw it that way and got involved...Getting onto that list, in the top 30 or so, is an achievement.

I hope many see my post, I guess that depends on if it get's reblogged or not. We'll see. We all need to be pushing engagement though, and helping the new people out.

Thanks for commenting and keep up the good work.

Thanks mate, it still surprises me that I have been up in the top 30 for most of the last 12 months because I don't feel like I am here that much but I guess the numbers tell a different story LOL!

Well, engaging is socialising and I always refer to Hive as a social media site - we are all people at the end of the day and have been doing my best to welcome new folks on when I see some reblogs from others. It makes a big difference I can tell you.

Keep the good work too champ!

P.S. Did you have a chance to go through those books I mentioned from our last convo?

That's the thing, it isn't that difficult really, engagement I mean, and the effort pays off.

I've got a to-do list and they are on that list. Believe it or not I actually have a job other than hive and sometimes I have to do it. Lol. I'll get to it though, I wrote them down with a couple others people suggested.

Believe it or not I actually have a job other than hive and sometimes I have to do it

🤣 Ditto mate! I am grateful to still have a job at this time and even though we're still on Hive, that has to get done first and foremost! Think I'll have to train my body to need 4 hours sleep and have more time in the day to get things done - you may have heard of Tim Ferriss "4 hour work week" if not... add it to the list haha

Tell you what though, one of the best things I bought this year was a whiteboard for my room. It's kept me on top of things that I need to do on a regular basis and saves me having to remember all these things in my head. Great stress reliever!

Oh yeah, I have white board walls at the office, here, my wife would kill me if I put one up...I need one though. I have a couple in the workshop which I use for my gun stuff all the time.

I am on reduced hours and pay at work, but I still have my job to do so...I shouldn't spend so much time on hive. You know, I wrote over 4200 words for hive today alone. Three posts. I must be mad...Or have a lot to say? Lol. I also made almost 100 comments today.

Haha, whiteboards are great, if ever I meet someone, I'll be insisting on a whiteboard straight off the bat 🤣

Jesus, 4,200 words! That's an impressive haul! I have only written a couple of monster posts like that but they take me over a week to write. I'm challenging myself to write a post each day and been trying out the "Ask the Hive" community. It's not something I'm used to but the best way of learning is going out your comfort zone a little bit hey!

It looks that we have reaches some "critical mass" in the engagement collective... A lot of eyeballs are on engaging with the people here on Hive which is awesome... I have just "registered" to EL a 2-3 days ago and this is second or third post as "confirmation" of my decision... :)

Thanks for tips!

See you on the next week's ranking list... :)

Just joined? Cool! Yeah, I'll be around on the list in the top 100 somewhere like always.

Don't know why I didn't joined before... I thought that rankings is created for all members on the network... My bad... lol

For some reason many misunderstand what it's all about so don't worry too much. You're on it now and you can focus on engagement, or whatever aspect you wish to. Most people like to see their name up at the top if they can make it, but in reality the real gain is the additional engagement tracking your results can bring.

Wow
go0d work by the way

Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to read and reply on my post.

Can I ask what part you felt was particularly good? I'm interested so that I can build on what I did well here moving forward on my next posts.

Okay okay okay.....awesome, so this post will be a perfect cap to the post I wrote yesterday about 5 questions that plague every new blogger especially on Hive, then I woke up this morning to read Joshmans post that shared like views but on more personal perspective, I loved it, infact I felt it made more sense than what I wrote and I told him I will be linking his post into mine, then reading yours now just put a cap to it.

The thing is as little as i am here i get a lot of people ask me these things and a lot of time i want to say all these, but it gets so long, so all i need to do is link these three posts to one place now. Thanks for these points.

If you dont mind here's that post i mentioned.
https://hive.blog/hive-148441/@mistakili/5-questions-that-plagues-every-new-blogger

Hi there, I hope you're well. Thanks for reading and commenting on my post. I appreciate it.

I rarely write about hive-related things but have been pretty passionate about engagement lately and felt it may be good to share a few things that I learned along the way in my three years.

I'm pleased that you agree and that you are also out there pushing engagement. I strongly believe that the engagement league is incredibly helpful and this post was more about that than anything...We need everyone in it! The other stuff I threw is because, well, because why not.

Again, thanks for your comment, but lastly...if you could name one thing you would do differently right from the start here what is it and why?

I had the wrong mindset when I started here, that is one thing I will like to change. Blog to earn yes, but not in the way I had it my head or as was presented to me.

When I started here, I felt like an alien, I was practically an alien to social media and social media engagements, really, even when I saw posts that I liked, there was no personality or much thoughts to my comments, I honestly thought "nice post" was good enough, so I did that a lot.

I later found myself in Dobartims quarters, steemschools, and was fed many promises of showing us "the way",...

I later realized a lot of bull shit, left and began to explore deeper myself, that was when real engagement began for me, and it was a whole different adventure after that phase. We learn everyday right.

Well, perhaps the experience shaped my mindset in some ways, I just feel I might be in a better position if I had the right mindset or tutelage rather than the group I fell into.

I can imagine reading this post as a total newbie and the tremendous effect it will have on my output.

Ah ha! Yes, this is pretty-much what I had expected, and am glad you've opened up on it.

I am aware of the links you had to that individual you mentioned and also the quality of that relationship, such as it was. Sometimes people have to take the journey on more circuitous paths like you, however it seems you have moved forward, seen things clearly for what they were, and are on the straight and narrow path. It's a credit to you.

You know, there's a post above with a little expansion, some clarification and clean up. I would like to see you do it...To expand on what you would do differently if you could go back. I think there's value in it. Your call. But your perspective, through hindsight, could make a difference to someone. Tag me in it if you do the post.

however it seems you have moved forward, seen things clearly for what they were, and are on the straight and narrow path. It's a credit to you.

Thank you, this is bringing all that memory back to my head lol,...

You know, there's a post above with a little expansion, some clarification and clean up...

Hahaha....totally true about that. I think there's value in it too, I will definitely get up to it. I will tag you.

This was really deep! Nice one uncle G!

Bless up!

I'll look out for the post...Anything we can do to help those coming along behind us will help us all in the long term.

Some great stuff here Uncle G-Dog.

Will reblog and hopefully see some newbies join the Engagement League!
This EL by @abh12345 is a good tool to keep track of one's performance.

Take care!

Oh thanks mate, I was hoping to get a reblog from someone but, of course, was never going to ask. Thanks a lot mate, it may reach a few more people and maybe do some good. What Asher does is so valuable to the community here and we need to get more on board.

Thanks again, and have a nice day.

Hahaha, never, but never ask for votes (and reblogs) lol.
If your post is good quality, they will appear magically:)

Blessings!

Exactly!

Cheer mate.

Cheers also to you mate!

Excellent advice for everyone new and not so new here.

Thank you good sir, I can always rely on your expert opinion and endorsement. Have a nice night in Brisvegas!

No expert here mate 😝. Hope Radelaide is having good weather 👍

Radelaide is...Sleepy. Lol. Always is. Haha!

Nah, all good mate, the run into the weekend is on now, Thursday I'll be at the gun range helping to chain saw some trees and place some concrete blocks, Friday I'll be pretending to work and then you know what day is next!

All the best sir.

Hehe, I see my name there as well. I've been a bad boy lately and got to the 15th place. I guess that's nice and honestly your user guide seems well compiled for a starter aiming big numbers. I wonder how many newbies will read and learn anything from it. You've done your job though... information is out there now, it's up to them.

You can lead a horse to water, but cannot make it drink. Still, I feel better having said my piece and if a few pick up on it then my time-investment is vindicated.

Yeah, your name is there...I wanted to be able to include everyone in the league but it's not possible of course. The link is there though so if anyone follows it they will see.

Have a nice afternoon mate, thanks for your comment.

Wish you the same! Heading for some pasta now :) Lock down pasta...made by the best cook in the whole kitchen...

Haha, I had lockdown pasta tonight too...Wasn't the best, but I'm not hungry anymore. Lol.

Always listen to Uncle-G

Hey, I was just thinking of you as I read this! Was wondering whether to drop you the link, but here you are already. 😆
It's sound advice, every bit. I'll never comment at his level, though, but pace yourself to whatever suits you when it comes to comments.

Lol, thanks for thinking about me :) I appreciate it!
I read about the engagement league a few weeks ago (I think it was at least) and decided to leave it for then, but why not try to challenge myself a bit more. I often only vote and think I'll come back later to leave a comment (which I forget sometimes).

Sometimes it can be hard to come up with something to say, but as you mull it over things come to mind. The hard part is remembering to come back and say it though!

Haha, nice one! Asher will get you listed and you can start to track your engagement here like the other EL users do...We'll see you up the top huh?

Thanks for jumping on board, and your comment.

Uncle G-dog approves.

Thanks for the publicity Galen!

Over the last few weeks I've gained around 100 followers and I asked about 60% of them why they followed me. Every single one of them told me it was because I commented on their posts...

This tells the story really doesn't it :) I've also been following more accounts of late, the majority have been popping into my posts and leaving comments of note.

It is without doubt, the best way to earn new followers.

Cheers!

It's a simple strategy yet one people seem unwilling to deploy. I hope my post reaches a few and some join the EL though. One has already commented here that they are going to join, so a few more will be nice.

Yep, got a new member already, cheers!

I had wondered about the engagement league! I will certainly join it, thanks for explaining it. I don't follow asher, though I know of him and his former work with the minnow power up league which was awesome and what introduced me to him and PaulaG a while back.

I've been doing my own little curation initiative, though I don't have any official things for it but I've been trying to visit the newly posted content instead of my feed before bed and find out new people, or accounts that I think have cool stuff, and vote for them if I like the content but also give them a comment. I've been trying to keep up with them as well, though it gets challenging, but I've found a couple really cool accounts! I've also gained some new followers and people I follow which has been great, spreading my wings a bit rather than sticking to my feed exclusively.

This is all solid advice for new people, I've seen a lot of people who post things like a picture with a couple words and expect votes. It's attracted the spaminator account which is knocking them down a few pegs but I wish there was a different way we could knock some sense into some of them so they don't get discouraged and just quit. I have left a few comments to no avail, will keep trying though.

Nice post!

md1od1.jpg

I go post my soup in PEW now...

Lol...Well, there better be crusty bread with it, buttered of course! Can I order up some ministrone?

🤣 I got stew, stew or stew, With soggy mash instead of crusty bread! Hey, it rhymes with PEW, so it's bound to be a hit...

Stew in The Pew, who knew!...Ooo, that'll do! Thank you.

Ok, not my best work, but I've been chainsawing all day so am fatigued.

It's way more ooos than I could have reeled off, with fatigue to boot! 🤣

I got lucky, those ooos just came at me, like an inspiration. I channelled them.

What a great and informative post! I will definetely follow your advices

Thanks Mary, just a few tips of things I learned. Good luck and all the best with it.

Just post something and the cash will roll in...

I am sure that is true. I posted a cheque off in the mail to a Nigerian prince , they have promised that the cash will start to roll in soon.

Lol...Yeah I did that too. I sent my TFN, DOB and bank account details...So, hopefully that Nigerian prince gets back to me soon...

Very good post for those starting out. I am glad i am doing most of things you have advice but I've been around for quite a while already to know the ropes a bit. Did not know about Engagement League yet, so thanks for that one. Applied :)

Very good post for those starting out. I am glad i am doing most of things you have advice but I've been around for quite a while already to know the ropes a bit and i can confirm that it works :) Did not know about Engagement League yet, so thanks for that one. Applied :)

It's really a simple process but one so many don't follow. It will grow a person's account though so I don't understand why they don't. You get it of course. Well done for joining the EL, a great way to track your activity.

It's the way the world works. You simply can't have everybody being too smart. It is not a nice thing to say, but somebody has to lose for the others to gain. That's the nature of things. But it's fair. At least in our case now it's all at your fingertips and readily available to everyone with a computer.

How do you actually track your activity with EL?

As my post says, the results come out each Sunday...It shows the results. I look, and know where I'm at. It confirms what I have been doing. It's more important for newer accounts though I guess, those not engaging. I don't have a problem doing so, but I'm in the league anyway, just for fun.

Didn't quite catch that. So i see it in a post, thought it spits out the results somewhere. Got it. thanks.

I think Asher posts it in the OCD community.

Good information here. I have not joined the league, perhaps I should. Also, my level of commenting varies with how much time I have to do so. But, some commenting is better than none.

Hey mate. Yeah, it's worth joining. You don't really have to do anything and at least you can track yourself when required. We are all busy and engagement will ebb and flow but it's nice to measure yourself against the best engagers as a guide as to where you're tracking.

This is indeed an eye opener. Thanks man. I think i'll take you as a mentor.😊

I'm glad you found something of value. Pushing forward here is really quite easy provide the right actions are being undertaken. There are other things you can do, but these are the basics and if done well you will find value.

Excellent points. Most of what I have to say is in a post I wrote earlier: https://peakd.com/dpos/@foxon/want-to-succeed-with-hive-make-friends-with-stake

Hopefully kosher to drop here since it's well past it's earning window 😃

Your post reads as an excellent follow up to
image.png
from the post I linked

It would probably have been a good idea for me to follow up with that, but you've already said it better than I ever could! Reblog ftw, lol

Thank you for putting this out there. It is fantastic to see someone doing it, documenting it, and pushing to share to others. Good work, UGD!

Hi there @foxon and thanks for your comment.

Engage in a way people appreciate...That's a nice statement. We all communicate differently so it's very important to understand what people respond to.

If everyone here worked a little harder at engagement and supporting the newer people we would have more people here; It's that simple. I try to do my part but I'm only a small fish so need help, people like you are providing it. Thanks for the reblog and your own good work in respect of driving engagement.

Are you the engagement league? if not you should consider it...It's a great, passive, way of knowing where you stand. Asher does all the work, bless him. Lol. (He doesn't mind.)

Thanks again for your comment, it is greatly appreciated.

I am not in the engagement league. Rankings, popularity, and even stake (to a degree lol) are not as much fun as just hanging out, reading content, and chatting with people. Crazy right? 😆
Not that I think it's bad for people to be interested in where they stand or even compete in that arena; It just isn't where I'm getting my Hive kicks at the moment. Games have been more interesting lately, so I very well may jump into something like the engagement league once kicks start getting harder to find
image.png

Everyone is different.

For me isn't not about winning the league, it's about knowing my level of engagement as I want to build my account. It's a tracking mechanism. Others probably want the validation of winning I guess but that's not my thing.

If you're enjoying gaming then stick with it. Me personally I hate it and never look at any gaming stuff; I'm a real world guy and with my shooting sports, well, first-person shooting is far more fun in the real world. I don't get into steemmonsters cards and Pokemons and stuff but I know many do and it that's what makes them happy then that's the way to go. I used to play Ghost Recon about 20 years ago, and had a Playstation for about 6 months once...Board games it where it's at now though. Lol.

If you're getting enjoyment from not building your stake and just hanging out here within your group or communities or wherever, then that's certainly good enough. It's all about enjoyment here, and when that stops for me I'll be gone.

What?! There is a league for engagement? I didn't know about this one. :D

The idea to set a goal for example, 15 comments a day can be a very powerful strategy, assuming that the comments are worthy. :)

Thank you for writing this post G-dog! <3

There certainly is a league...Follow the links to see it, and join up as explained in my post. It's a good thing!

Yeah I should check it out. :)

These are good tips , i think important are comments and reply's

wow! if one could follow and adhere strictly to the above-mentioned point. I believe it will boast one's account as well as followers. I'm glad you take the time to put this up for us. there are few things I learned personally myself and I will just adjust. we learn every day as there is no ending to learning. How you write a long paragraph is what I will like to know about. i know you read a lot but I will still be interested in knowing all you make it happened.

I'm pleased that you found something of value here and hope that the adjustments you make to how you approach engagement pay off for you. If you set some goals you may find it is easier to track yourself as you'll know where you want to go and how far off it is.

it will surely help in no small measure. not really on hive alone but in real life. planning, consistency and perseverance is the key to success as there's no short cut to making it in all.

Yes I agree...Goal setting is a powerful tool, but alas, many don't do it, or know how to do it properly.

What do you propose that can be of help. How do you think one could get out of limitations? Factors that are hindering one to do what he has in mind to do. I

Good question. It is really quite simple...

Know your WHY.

This means, determine why you want to, or need to do a thing. Why that things is important. Why that thing must be done and what it means to you. Knowing your WHY will empower you to take the steps, the actions, to achieve it. If the WHY is strong enough, important enough, then nothing will be able to get in the way, and all of those things you need to do to attain it will happen.

Maybe I should put it in my own perspective. If you want something and go for it but at the end of it you didn't feel satisfied or the result you craved isn't met. Of course one will want to do something new that could have lot of advantage or benefit in it. I understand that one will just have to keep pushing till he reach his destination. Another problem is the insatiable nature of human and the button line of everything which is money. I don't know if you get my message at all

Engage Engage Engage! You really can't say it often enough. Marvelous post! Re-hiving

Thanks @melinda010100, I agree (obviously). I was hoping to drive a few more to the EL and Asher tells me there's been quite a few new ones because of this post. Your resteem will help, so thanks.

Everyone on Hive needs to realize how important engagement is. For themselves, and for Hive, too!
Your post is getting some attention. I hope we see the EL numbers reflect that on Sunday! ❤️

Absolutely right. I'm on a bit of a push at the moment, just hoping to show people the importance. If all of us older users did it, supported the new ones just a little more I think we could gain some momentum.

It's sometimes difficult to get newer users to see the value...They look at rewards coming through, say for my posts, and are like, why don't I get that too? Little do they know I put 5 hours (minimum) per day into it, and have done for three years! And engagement has been the single key factor to that growth.

The people at the top of the EL list have all put in the time and effort to get where they are! And I know how many hours of work it has taken to get there. I don't regret a single minute. The friends I have made and the fun I have had along the way makes it all worthwhile.
I love seeing new users take good advice to heart and get to work building their accounts!

Yes for sure...Now we need to keep pushing to get some new, and unfamiliar names, up into the top 20!

Wouldn't that be great! Janton and I had Asher remove our names from the EL for exactly that reason, thinking that there would be room for new names at the top, but that didn't work out the way we had hoped. Maybe everyone with a rep over 70 needs to have a separate list!

Exactly thank you, I love your post

Thank you for reading and commenting on my post. I'm glad you found something of value and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know.

Thanks so much for the tips @galenkp. I joined the engagement league and saw how I stacked up against the pros who know what to do. I've learned a lot from reading posts like yours with useful tips. And, I must say I've heard a bit of this from several different sources.

So my conclusion is that it must be true if all I read form different people are singing the same tune. In effect, it must work. So give it a try. That's what I'm doing.

Take care, and have a great rest of your weekend.

Great to have you in the engagement league and to hear that you're on board with some of the tips I mentioned. It works, I built my own account this way, so all the best with it!

Have a great weekend.
