As part of the awakening of Serbian people and the survival struggle, on the eve of the Orthodox holiday called the Day of the Cross, the Citizens Association “Dedovina” (Serbian) on Sunday, September 26th in Smederevo organized a procession of the National Assembly for the salvation of the Serbian people…

The President of the Citizens Association “Dedovina”, Djordje Petrović, first addressed the gathered brothers and sisters on the central town square, briefly referring to the rules of conduct during the procession and read a prayer to Archangel Michael, St. George and St. Nicholas. After that, the choir of the Rukumija Monastery ‘St. Romanos the Melodist’ opened the procession at with a song, just as Orthodox and patriotic songs will accompany the procession from beginning to end.

У склопу буђења народа у Србији и борбе за опстанак, а уочи православног празника Крстовдана, Удружење грађана „Дедовина“ у недељу, 26. септембра у Смедереву организовало је Крсни ход свенародног сабрања за спас народа српског…

Окупљеној браћи и сестрама на централном градском тргу најпре се обратио председник удружења грађана „Дедовина“, Ђорђе Петровић, упућујући укратко на правила понашања током крсног хода и очитао молитву Архангелу Михаилу, Светом Георгију и Светом Николи. Потом је хор ‘Свети Роман Слаткопојац’ при манастиру Рукумија отворио литију песмом, као што ће песме православне и родољубиве пратити литију од почетка до краја.

It started, as it should, with icons and flags of saints at the head of the column. A member of the choir, Milan Nikolić, brought a beautiful icon of Three-handed Holy Mother of God, and in front of it was a cross and flags with Orthodox saints:

Кренуло се, како доликује, са иконама и заставама светаца на челу колоне. Члан хора, Милан Николић, носио је прелепу икону Пресвете Богородице Тројеручице, а пред њом је био крст и барјаци са православним свецима:

The best thing of all at this event is that there were many young people in the procession. A new generation that, despite the horrible propaganda, knows where its roots are and is ready to stick to them. The procession was greeted by those who could not join it:

Најлепше од свега јесте што је у литији било много младих људи. Нова генерација која, упркос стравичној пропаганди, зна где су јој корени и спремна је да их се држи. Молитвену поворку поздрављали су и они који нису могли да јој се прикључе:

As this was not a political gathering, the absence of ‘official’ state-corporate media was noticeable. However, that enabled independent media and individuals to exclusively transmit information about the awakening of Serbia in Smederevo. This procession was followed by the strongest Serbian free media Srbin.info, whose editor, Mr. Dejan Petar Zlatanović, directly streamed the event on their YouTube page:

Пошто ово није био политички скуп, уочљиво је било одсуство ‘званичних’ државно-корпоративних медија. То је, међутим, омогућило независним медијима и појединцима да ексклузивно пренесу информацију о буђењу Србије у Смедереву. Овај крсни ход испратио је и најјачи српски слободни медиј Србин.инфо, чији је уредник, господин Дејан Петар Златановић, директно стримовао догађај на своју ЈуТјуб страну:

Passing the main Smederevo street leads to a small square named by the historic Karadjordje’s Mulberry.

There, Mr. Petrović read the prayer of repentance, and the choir sang a mix of songs once again:

The procession ends at the place from which it started – we return to the main city square in front of the Cathedral of St. George and we part in the hope that we will soon be gathering in even greater numbers:

Литија се завршава на месту са кога је кренула – враћамо се на главни градски трг испред Саборног храма Светог Георгија и растајемо у нади да ћемо се ускоро окупити у још већем броју:

Smederevo shone on this beautiful September evening. Hope is awakened in these depressing times, and it is no small feat. All the merits and gratitude go first of all to the organizers, the Association of Citizens “Dedovina” who finally did what should have been done in Smederevo a long time ago, then the choir “St. Romanos the Melodist” from the Rukumija monastery, as well as all those who made this event great with their presence. The wave raised by the Serbian people in Montenegro has finally arrived in our country as well. That is a good guarantee for the future.

Блистало је Смедерево ове лепе септембарске вечери. Нада је пробуђена у ова депресивна времена, а то није мали подвиг. Заслуге и захвалност иду пре свих на адресу организатора, Удружења грађана „Дедовина“ који су најзад учинили оно што је одавно требало чинити у Смедереву, затим хора „Свети Роман Слаткопојац“ из манастира Рукумија, као и свих који су својим присуством увеличали овај догађај. И код нас је најзад стигао талас који је подигао српски народ у Црној Гори. То је добра гаранција за будућност.
