This is Part 01. Here are the notes I took in my VHS to DVD project which I started in the early 2000s. We started making home videos in 1996 around my 11th birthday.

I wasn't really doing a lot of VCR to VCR recording before 2001 or so. I think I did either very little before 2000 or none at all outside of recording myself play Mario Paint on the Super Nintendo and maybe a few other things.
Long story short, over the years, I've been recording, editing, transferring, copying, VHS video tapes via VCR machines, DVD discs, audio tapes, CDs, etc, to DVD, hard drives, the Internet. This includes VHS videos copied back as early as the 1980s.
Here are notes on what I was doing in March of 2021. In future posts, I will try to include logs of my progress these past 21 years or so, chronologically, the timeline. The goal is in archiving some of the videos, the audio, etc, relating to The Arnold Attic Films, the Arnold Island, the 44 Tapes, things relating to the family and friends of Oatmeal Joey Arnold over the years.
I'm trying my best to keep a record of it all to help better organize what is what later on down the road. It's been a been mess for a very long time, I'm trying my best to get to the bottom of it all.

Puffer was one of my favorite cats we had outside of Honey, Puffer was in some of our videos in 1996 and played Loxxcatt in an unfinished 1997 Power Rangers 3 movie I was making.

Review
When I write that I review a video VHS cassette tape, DVDs, etc, review means I looked at it but you can assume I didn't copy the VHS to DVD. I am generally reviewing just VHS and recording that to DVD, you assume that generally speaking unless otherwise states, most of the time, that is what this log is for. This log is for tracking as I try to copy VHS to DVD and just that and not to track when I try to copy DVD to HDD, to the Internet or other things. I may however include when I try to copy audio tapes to DVD as well. But regardless, those are the two general rules, I copy video or just audio to DVD. It could be to copy TV or other things to DVD to but generally not so much.

When I say copy, I mean to record and I am generally recording onto DVD from other sources like video and audio tapes most of the time.

Ricky & Joey filmed this in 1996 or 1997. This is at the very beginning of the VHS tape.
After that, random things on TV which might have already been on here. So, after our video, it went back to the TV. Stuff relating to Halloween and maybe Christmas too. News. A thing about a monkey painting. Baywatch. CNN. The death of Princess Diana in 1997 in September or end of August. On the Bio channel was a bio on the life of Andy Griffith who did Matlock and the Andy Griffith show among other things.

Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace: The entire film as it aired on television, I think KPTV in Oregon at that time in 1999 or 2000 or whenever it first aired on TV. The entire film or the first hour or longer. I saw up to like the fight at the end and also the fight with Maul too. There was also behind the scenes with George Lucas and friends.
Other random things on television like Hal Lindsay for a second, and a focus on The Weakest Link, Star Trek Edition featuring the actors who played some of your favorite space captains, doctors, and even Q. Not Qanon or quantum computers or the CIA or whatever. The Q character. James Kirk. No Picard. Reading Rainbow man. The doctor from Voyager. Wesley Crusher. The black chick from Voyager. Seven of Nine I think. No Riker I don't think. A few others. Simpsons where they made towels after Homer.
1997-02-08 - Joey playing basketball for a second, mom and Crystal try to record it. Had to zoom out. Hard to zoom out. I wore white shorts, shirt tucked in, while others worse black shorts.
1997-03-07 - Power Rangers 3, I recorded the beginning parts of the film, I copied a lot from the first Rangers movie we made in 1996, this would be our second movie which came out before the second actual Rangers film came out. So, this movie was just me recording and acting. I recorded Puffer the cat as Loxxcatt talking to a bug as his sidekick who mentioned how Lot failed to take over the world in the last film. Loxxcatt plots to go to earth. We see a bowling pin over a shower curtain as the ship over space. Oh, I do have Crystal saying she was the pink or yellow ranger to copy a bit we did after filming our last Rangers film. I recorded myself a few times saying I was each of the male rangers. I then had the words written out, Power Rangers 3, and I filmed the poster over the TV which was playing the Lamb Chop Play-Along kids show theme song on PBS.
After that, it cuts to random things on TV and it cut to TV before a few times as well going back and forth between TV and camcorder footage a few times. Jerry Springer, small ugly people who are bald and old and look like kids. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I see Angel too and the one guy reminds me of Mike Cernovich. NBA. Quiz show with kids. The tape ends with the 1992 Olympics Dream Team playing basketball against other teams. Then the VHS tape ended and rewinded back to the beginning. I reviewed each second of this tape from start to finish, no skipping at all.
Super Boy. Family Ties

1988 Super Boy recorded in 1988 via a VCR in Forest Grove, Oregon. It was on television and I either remember it at that time as it was on television when I was three or later on as we watched. Reading Rainbow dealing with bees.
Family Ties, the final episode, I either saw it live or saw a rerun. They all say goodbye. The father says when you swallow an apple seed, a apple tree grows inside you or something like that, I remember.
Family Ties appears to have been recorded over Reading Rainbow. So, then it went back to Reading Rainbow.
A kids show featuring puppet animals talking to astronauts. The flag. Stars. A bear. A frog.
I reviewed each second of this tape from start to finish, no skipping at all.
Blank at the end for a good portion of the tape.

Huggies. Matlock.
Me playing my 1998 NBA N64 basketball game. I record this to DVD starting with Matlock for a second. I had an All-Star game, the east against the west. The west attempt to dunk it each time while the east try to hit threes. I play both teams on my Nintendo 64, I did this sometimes for some games as a kid at times for hours and hours. This was either in 1998 or after that. Some of the players I made included names like Cool Kid Joey 85, Ricky Peanut Butter, Elder, etc. Also, Magic Johnson or M. Johnson. Some have no names.

Finished one DVD, that is DVD 26, today which I started recording onto yesterday, it has gameplay of me playing my 1998 NBA basketball game on the Nintendo N64 game console machine.
I then recorded the remaining of that VHS of that same NBA 98 game onto a new DVD, that is DVD 27. I copied to the very end of that VHS. I still have space left on this DVD.
Kids Stuff - VHS no number
I reviewed Kids Stuff: Kid Vid: A Child's Introduction fo Musical Instruments by See & Learn. Kids Stuff Records & Tapes of Florida. 30 minutes long. Story of a farmer boy talking to a talking cow cartoon, how he became Rockefeler or somebody famous from the early 1900s. Made in the 1980s probably. Written by Marilyn Horowitz and Michael Mark. Performed by Michael Mark and Leszek Burzynski. I first saw this as early as the 1980s as a boy born in 1985 in Oregon.

I reviewed Disney's Alice in Wonderland cartoon, the entire movie. It starts out with a live-action intro with an Alice actress and a man who is not Walt Disney at Disneyland or Disney World. They introduce the cartoon and then the cartoon starts. After that is Inspector Gadget. Girl. Circus episode. Dog. Tree falls down. Flying. King. Globe. After that cartoon is a live action Rich Hall show on Nick regarding electronics. Then a weird cat show, not Garfeld. Ronald McDonald commercial. Cat cartoon. Chef. Music recording. Many cats. Cats in a flying ship. Storm. Cat blimp goes down. Bird. Fishing. Tent. Nick Jr. Military coin commercial. Marshall. General like man. Black man, live action. Puppets or clay mation figures. Mostly puppets. To the very end of that tape.

This VHS tape I'm recording to DVD today, the first VHS of the day to a brand new DVD in the 2 hour SP mode. I see Larry Mitchell singing. The VHS says Michael or Mike on it which I assume means Michael Mitchell, a son of Larry. Mike or a teenage boy is playing drums. A girl is on keyboard. A man is leading worship or whatever type of music it is. Larry is partly leading as well but to the side. I see one black guy with a built upper body. This could be at a school or a church. It could be in Shelton, WA. I don't know where it is right now. On the video, a subtitle reads 5/ 9/1998. That either means May 9th or September 5th. Since there is space between the five and the nine and no space between the nine slash and then the year, it could be that this is September. Four people on stage. Random white folks in the audience.
That black guy gets up, holds a microphone in one hand and a Bible in the other. He speaks. He rips up like the yellow pages and then a bat.
One hour long.

VHS 69 - Independence Day

Will Smith and partner flies into space. This is right at the beginning of this VHS tape. This was on Fox, channel 13, late 90s or early 00s. They download a virus into the mothership, a nerd version of Star Trek: A New Hope. Instead of using athletic luck, we use math and science to blow up the Death Star and all the other ships as seen in Rise of Skywalker where all the other ships die too. Actually, the old crazy uncle character is like Luke Skywalker as he flies into a big ship. President played by Bill Saxton or something like that, a guy who was in the Newsies. Will's partner was in Jurassic Park. TBN show. A play. Bible stories in live action. Small skits. Man talks. Teaching most likely. Story of forgiveness. King forgive man but man does not forgive his servant and that makes king mad. Then another show of 3 people in a discussion. Like Bible study. They might be Hispanic or Indian from India. Oh, same show as before, Word in the World with Michael Manning. Cedillo. Corrie Ten Boom. Women of faith in history. 700 club for sec. The Lord's Kitchen with Pastor Hill. Reference to an upcoming March 2nd event. Behind the Scenes with Paul Crouch with an old lady. Jan Crouch sings for the helping the children ministry where she hands toys to children in hospitals. Recorded by probably mom who probably recorded all or almost all the 1980s VHS tapes outside of sports which would be by dad if there are any he made in the 1980s. Dad recorded basketball and football games in the 1990s and possibly only that decade during the course of his entire life is my educated guess. He liked the 49ers and recorded them. Back to this tape, the muppets. Piggy is on a throne. She hugs Kermit. On boat. Might be a movie or from a show from the late 1970s. Looks like the show, live action. It is in black and white due to bad quality, old tape, or something. Possibly recorded that way originally. Balloons. Shooter. Muppet flying high on balloons. Road trip muppets in car. Steve Martin gives them wine, Piggy and Kermit. Mad scientist tries to suck out Kermit's brain. Gonzo sings. Campfire. School bus. Live music. Giant Animal. Then a circus for a second. Then a market. Sound of Music movie. They sing as a family. Commercials. NBC. Blank for a bit. Back to movie. They dance at a ball at their house. Nanny helps. Bad quality again. Back to movie. Then commercials. Back to movie. Kids outside. Father talks. Nanny talks. Nuns talk. Nanny is a nun. Back to kids. Nanny in green. Lady talking in red dress. Father must be dating and then talks to nanny and kisses her. Romance. Commercials. Maybe Christmas time in 1988 or 1989 is my guess. Those 2 years most likely. Nazis. Germany. Commercials again. Going to war. Cars. Flag. They sing on stage. Confrontation. Hills. End of movie. Blank. Tape also says January of 1993, Telecable. But I only see one movie on this tape plus commercials which is dated 1989.
