My wrists have been bothering me for a while so I made an appointment with a physiotherapist.
The meeting was today.
Of course, he had to ask what caused it and I came clean.
"I played SNES mini with my friend Ezzy and I practiced too much streetfighter combos", I said.
He looked at me funny.
"It's for work"
He almost rolled his eyes...
Of course, we all know it's not for work. It's for fun because that's what it is.
But I didn't want to tell him I'm (almost) unemployed. Maybe he wouldn't want me :)
He told me to take off my shirt and asked me to sit down.
He started to do all kinds of tests.
He sort of quickly found the problem.
It's in my neck.
One of my vertebrae is to 'tight' and it's pressing on a nerve.
Sounded pretty scary to me.
He told me he could do something about it with a few sessions.
Monday will be the first day.
He also told me I could do everything I normally do but when it starts hurting I should stop.
Sound advice I guess. Also means I can't do too much.
I then asked him a question about something I have been searching for, for a while.
I have been looking for a nutritionist (Bianca's one only speaks Portuguese) because the whole project Steemfat 3 has derailed and I need more help.
(that's why I haven't written about it much).
He gave me a number and I'm going there tomorrow morning at 8 am.
With me, it's usually when bad things start to happen to my body that I get a little extra motivation to get shit done.
It's the main reason I started to change my life 5 years ago and turned it around completely back then.
Again I see this as one of those moments.
Because, I sort of like my neck, wrists, hands and my body in general and to be honest it's fucking shit when it doesn't work properly.
It makes me worried regardless of what he said. And I don't like that feeling.
Asking for more professional help has never hurt me in the past, I think it will be good.
I will know more tomorrow!

Well that's why it's good to let the pro do their job. I could never connect a problem you had no your wrist with your neck but you see what the pro can do. I often times have the same issue of staying too long before getting my issues treated. I hope you get your wrist back in shape
Oh well. Good that you're making some changes before it gets too bad @exyle.
Have you tried yoga at all? My partner is a keen cyclist and also drives a lot of miles every weeks but has started yin yoga which works on the connecting tissues etc rather than the muscles. It's done on the mat and you hold the postures for 3 to 5 mintues. It's made a big difference to him.
It's the only class I've been to where there is a large proportion of men.
Hope the nutritionist isn't too stern with you! 😂
I have tried yoga. I used to be pretty flexible :)
Flexibility is a fraction of what yoga is. Though no doubt you will get strong and flexible with practice. .....but it's so much more 💗😁
Hi @gillianpearce! I noticed the word 'yoga'in your post so i had to check it out 😉 Yin is awesome! I am teaching a yin & nidra class tonight. Have you ever tried nidra? 💗 restorative also holds a special place in my heart. Though for the most part I adore all of it! I attribute my dedication to the practice as a huge reason why I am ok after my crazy car wreck last year. It also helps greatly with recovery. I am looking forward to the day i can enjoy a good solid practice again. Until then, restorative & yin & nidra will get me there. Do you practice?
I'm just doing yin at the moment @yogijill, I have knee problems and I found the standing postures in other classes were making them worse. Nidra I've done a bit of after finding some lessons on youtube. The studio I go to doesn't offer it. Restorative I have yet to try although I think there might be a class locally. 😍
Good stuff 💗💗💗 it's awesome you've done nidra on your own!! Such beautiful moments 💗🌻💗 ahhhh! I am hoping to offer these types of classes through dLive soon 🤞 if you're into practicing at home, you might like it! Take good care of those knees & yourself! Lotsa love! 🙏
I am so sorry that you are slightly ill. But don't worry. Follow the advice of the doctor. Because we all know that health is wealth.
Be well off sir @exyle.
Oh yes, my friend, when our body begins to show disruptions and pain is increasingly manifested in different places, this is a signal for a more serious attitude to yourself and I am sure that you will pass it without problems, especially as I understood, the experience you already have there is. I wish you good luck, my friend! Thank you Mark.
Hi exyle,
Nice to see you sharing you life situation.
Stay strong...you will be alright thru all these challenges.
Thanks!
You are welcome. Be strong.
It's always good to get advice to get things sorted. It is a bit fucking shit when stuff aint working right! Get in!
Hope your wrists recover soon! Take good care :) Easy on the keyboard! :P
Sounds like the professionals will get you right. It's usually a matter of getting into some good habits. Get better man.
Well you appointment was quite funny but at least you found out what is the main problem that cause pain in your wrist, so all thes best for you seasons and be healthy bro 😇
Not to worry buddy you I am sure you will be well soon enough ;)
While hope you get a nice routine from of diets from the nutritionist !
I will pray for you that your wrist will recover soon,
and I really hope you have to do more frequent checks for good health.
thank you @exyle for sharing stemeet.
In all due respect @exyle , wondering why you just don't see an orthopedic doctor for that ? Or is a physiotherapist similar or the same thing where you live ?? I know when I broke my wrists and the bone was sticking out of my hand I went to a Ortho guy.
Anyway, I do hope it gets better for you
Man, that sounds painful! Bone sticking out...o man. A physiotherapist is covered by insurance, that's one of the reasons why I'm going there first. This one can 'manipulate' stuff with 'cracks' too. (not sure how you say this). And Thanks!
Hey do you have control of the @steemrant page?
No, I never knew I was resteemed there until now.
Speculation is why you are concerned. I’m guessing you like to know ‘why’ things are happening based on previous behavior in your posts. Trust in yourself to make progress through whatever happens. All will be well.
Wow, I guess you hit the nail on the head here. Never thought about it. But's true.
Hi Mark! It's so good you had fun played the game and found out the issue is in your neck. Now, you can fix it. You'll be well on your way!! I can relate because i was in a near death car accident and am recovering from severely broken neck and a few vertebrae ribs, collar bone and shoulder blade. The issues with me though are my shoulders. They are just not working right because of mostly stuff in my thoracic spine but also neck. I just got home from physio myself. Boy am I grateful for good therapist!! Makes a world of difference.
Good news is, if we take good care of ourselves it will get better!! I agree with your therapist don't do anything that irritates your injury. It will only get worse that way.
Hope it goes well tomorrow!! Nutrition is sooooo crucial. Best wishes! Thanks for sharing your journey🌻☘🍋
Thank you so much! But it sounds to me you been through a lot worse with your car crash. Wow, what a story. You must have been through a lot.
You're welcome 💗 it's been a pretty wild ride @exyle. I've yet to detail the story in a blog. Maybe some day! Though injury is injury. I have likely got more trauma to manage but it all takes healing nonetheless. 🌻
Lololol the question is did the dude even SNES bro? Or he thought you was really a street fighter, anyway regardless that does sound a little scary and I must say unexpected who would of thought I guess its lucky you got checked out @exyle
Hope your physiotherapist will be an expert and you will get relief from wrist pain soon. Yes it's a great idea to stop those things which hurts you. Have a nice visit to nutritionist. keep sharing @exyle
Get better soon.
Lol, you can introduce him to the community.
Most of the physiotherapists I have met have been nice and good at their job, hope this one is.
It is a good decision to visit a professional from time to time and more when there is a bodily discomfort, there are many diseases that can be derived by excess weight.
stay in foram dear friend @exyle
I also had a similar problem.
The verdict was tendinitis. inflammation of the wrist due to bad position using the mouse of my computer.
That's why I use alternately the mouse with my left and right hand. It takes some get used to it.
Very important point. I'd also add that lowering sensitivity works wonders, especially if your desk has room for a huge mouse pad.
Its a good thing u are getting some professional help for your wrists, am sure all will be well and u will see a full recovery. As for nutrition- they say you are what you eat- so hopefully u will be given good dietary recipes with lots of organic fruits and vegetables :)
Both decisions are brilliant!
Look after our well being is essentially essential!
Shalom Exyle!
Good idea to seek professional help with physical problems, especially if a pinched nerve is involved. You don't want more problems down the road. A nutritionist is not a bad idea either. Our metabolism changes as we get older and sometimes we just need to fine tune the diet. Looking at the photos from the weekend visit, I thought Bianca's face looked a bit thinner. I think she is doing really well....
Bianca has been doing great with her diet. We did indulge a little bit in the weekend though :)
I can understand that! Its hard to stay on track when you have company...
"I played SNES mini with my friend Ezzy and I practiced too much streetfighter combos", I said.
SNES, Ezzy, Streetfighter, Combos?
Just add Steem, Blockchain and he thinks you are from Mars.
Mark First Step in Recovery, "Hello my name is @exyle and I am a Video Game Addict".......Reply from other addicts in the Room, "Hi @exyle"
One of my vertebrae is to 'tight' and it's pressing on a nerve.
Man this sounds something serious, you should first take care of yourself, health is a blessing, we should maintain it till our last breath, You should go for the checkups more frequently for a good health, well going to a nutritionist is also a good step, I think your are gona maintain your health good.
i am very sad to listen your bad news. Its a good thing u are getting some professional help for your wrists, am sure all will be well and u will see a full recovery... i hope that you very soon may be good health if you apply doing a good doctor suggetion..@exyle
no need to pay for a nutritionist, a lot of it can be found online
thats not good you should take good care of yourself this sounds really serious u shuoldn,t be careless
i hope u will be well really soon
just don,t behave careless go docter get a complete therapy and then post your situation ok?
Thank you sir for shareing your life situation. You are so great person.
Do you use a mouse much? About 9 months ago I switched to far lower sensitivity for playing first-person shooters(I love Street Fighter and other fighting games too, and I use an arcade stick) and my carpal tunnel vanished within a day or 2. The mouse pad is at least 35 inches wide, but it's more accurate by far and eliminated what was for me a long-standing health problem! \m/
Wooow, that is very good for sharing your life experience
hope your better soon ! @exyle
God Bless you. Take care of your hand and health too :)
Thanks for sharing your experience .
thanks for the information, we are ready to support you good luck.@exyle
Wonderful post ..thanks for sharing...Best of luck friend ✫
Stay strong @exyle. But the wrist pain might not be as a result of the SNES game you played with your friend, I might be as a result of accumulated stress you don't know. Be well EXYLE
u should try biomagnetism therapy. it works great.
Does this match your symptoms?
https://www.spinemd.com/symptoms-conditions/carpal-tunnel-syndrome
Based on the SNES and combos, this would be my first, non-professional, "internet is dangerous" kind of assumption.
Ibuprofen (Advil) might help as usually the tightening is caused by inflammation. At least until your appointment.
Also, you might need to start stretching before any more SNES/Street-Fighter competitions.
Looks like a healthy man's hands. Get well soon :d
thanks for your great informations share
@exyle,
Hope you will get well soon and Better you should not do gaming a lot! Hope to hear more good news after tomorrow session!
Cheers~
You have probably forced your hand for grab something I think. The inflamation have occured on your wrist. But tightened vertebra may be serious for you. This is some kind of herniation to spinal nerve. However you should have had pain on neck using your arm. I suppose wrist pain is not related with your neck. Resting your hand with a splint and taking antiinflammatory pills are enough. I hope you get well soon.
life is tough sometimes but not so tough for people like you all will be good :)
