Ibiza's Dark Secret

in #life7 months ago

It is no secret that recently I went with the family holiday to Ibiza for a massive two weeks.

Many people asked if I was going clubbing, others asked if this was a mission for the Dark Brotherhood, and some more astute folk asked if I was going to unwind and possibly get my beer on.
I like to throw in the odd dark brotherhood comment for the conspiracy folk to get all excited in their pants about. Even recently I was challenged for being a Satanist because of the tagline in my profile, I mean, honestly?

The correct answer of course was to unwind and indeed we all did. Despite the No Phonez rule, there was indeed some phonery for photos, in between larking about in the sand and drinking Pina Coladas at night.

Forgive the rubbish photo. I would like to blame the light and all that but the simple fact is that I was as drunk as a skunk after having already had three of these beasts
Dat's right sistaz, this man loves a Pina Colada.

So to wind up my holiday as I return to work weeping and a shell of the man I was before I went away I thought I would post a small selection of my slightly wonky pics along with evidence of a dark dark secret that I uncovered whilst drinking beer in the sun.

Let us begin.

Did you know that Ibiza, as well as having topless foam party bars and drug dealers outside every second pub in the south of the island also has an Old Town, Dalt Vila?

Well, it does and a rather splendid old town it is too with some parts of it dating back to the 7th Century BC.

The walls are bloody massive.

1000013153.jpg

1000013155.jpg

When you get to the top of them you get splendid views of the inside of the town and its quaint narrow streets.

1000013156.jpg

1000013157.jpg

1000013158.jpg

1000013159.jpg

And on top you get cannons! Lots of cannons. Some baseball-capped oik insisted on riding my gun whilst I tried to get a selfie. Grr.

1000013160.jpg

Even though it is a historical tourist attraction the town is actually still lived in by many residents. However, when I checked out the price of this terraced little affair and saw it coming in at over 1.5 million euros I realised that it might be like New York in which no real people live. Only rich people pretending.

1000013161.jpg

It was near this picturesque little square that I found the earth-shattering secret that will rock the world as we know it.

I am afraid to say that we have all been lied to and that Hitler did not commit suicide in a secret bunker at the end of WW2. Oh no. Instead, he ran off to Ibiza and spent the rest of his life dressing as a woman in a poor attempt to avoid being discovered.

Apparently, according to the plaque he gave birth to two strong sons and an albino before passing away in his favourite dress.

1000013163.jpg

There were a lot of hills and red-faced people after climbing them.

1000013170.jpg

And some very cool doors and windows.

1000013169.jpg

Blue being very popular which is rather nice being my favourite'ish colour.

1000013166.jpg

1000013167.jpg

1000013171.jpg

It is a very popular destination for Mediterranean cruise ships. This meant that I was genuinely surprised when I stopped in a busy street for some munchies and had what was probably the best food in my entire stay.

1000013164.jpg

I won't bore you with the beach shots but I will say the beach and sea action is amazing. I didn't expect to have fish nibble my toes every time I popped into the sea.

1000013173.jpg

1000013174.jpg

And then finally the Sunsets. Always a pleasure as that meant it was truly beer o'clock and the party could begin.

1000013172.jpg

1000013180.jpg

I would love to say it is good to be back home but... meh!

Sort:

How dare that feckless creature plop himself on your selfie cannon!!

I’m so pleased to hear that you’ve had a bit of R&R in such a carcass warming place like Ibiza. I know I’d sure like to get wrapped up in a pina colada drinking conspiracy or two.

It’s supposed to snow several inches here tomorrow, your glorious pictures made me realize that not snow is only a plane ride away, thanks MeesterB!😁

He wouldnt get up from it either. I am like, come on you, move it... Alas no.

Snow! Yikes. It wont be long before we are seeing that. This morning it was white with frost outside and I felt it deep in my heart!

Frost! :O

Views? feck views I'm good with an ice cream and this wall!

image.png

Hahah! The little boom appears to be in almost every shot like a Where's Wally! :OD

And aye, I was gutted this morning when the grass was all ice tipped!

There are two of us who love piña coladas! 😍
Hey 😂 the secret you have revealed is powerful. lol

I'll reveal you a secret too (after Greece, for me, Ibiza)

I am already arranging the paperwork with my agent to buy it.

I love Greeze. My favourite I think is Crete. I have only been once and loved it. So many things to do and see!

Hehe, can I rent a room when the deal is done? :OD

Hehe, can I rent a room when the deal is done? :OD

🤣 for free

Splendid!! :OD

Hail Sithis!

Hehe, you got it! :OD

You were in a small slice of heaven :) It is easy to see why you were a little meh getting back home. I suppose that's why the holidays are so special and remain a bright spot in our memories lol. Hey keep that for sale property in mind, you know, for when the Hive moonshot comes. If you play your cards right you could own that big cannon lol. So glad you and the family had a great time!

Haha! That is my dream. To own the rooftop property and have a cannon above. They would fear me then these pirate ships from the black sea! :OD

It is good to have highlights of joy in the grey of life for sure!

The dark brotherhood approves of this vacation: Pina coladas, sunsets, feet-nibbling fish and blue things (except blue balls)...but not going home to meh.

Also, that Hitler statue...when posing for it he must have been thinking, mein gott, ich bin knew I should not have had that extra serve of sauerkraut! Ich bin ein dumkmopf! I mean look at his face...Sauerkraut regret if ever it existed.

There is definitely such a thing as too much sauerkraut, that is a fact! He rued that day.

My head is still struggling with the fact that a week ago I was lying in the sand and now I am wondering which of my hoodies is the warmest to wear :OD

You'll get back there again sometimes, not too far off I hope.

Aye man, talking about next year. I hope we can afford it. Prices for everything are going through the roof!

It's crazy, the way things are increasing, and I think there's going to be some stress out there; providing the basics is going to get harder and harder, let alone the luxuries like travel.

There does seem to be no end to it all. Mutt be time to deter building the bunker!

I'm not sure a bunker would do anyone much good in what's coming...maybe better things to be focusing on, but who knows man, this world is upside down and getting upside downier. Lol.

Dude this looks a proper holiday spot (and I am wondering why I have not been there as yet) but what actually misses...

The pirate suit on the cannons haaaaaaawwwwrrrr

It is an amazing holiday spot that people overlook because of its reputation in the mad south side of the island but it has really beautiful bits up to the north which are totally Mediterranean and lovely!

And you can never beat a pirate getup!

The word "dark" somehow doesn't fit Ibiza as everything is light. :D
Even the white houses with blue doors and windows, the streets, flowers, coast... they are so similar to the little towns that face the same sea but from Peninsular Spain. ;)

But maybe it is dark, with dark brotherhoods and all, but then it is a well hidden secret 😁
What is not a secret is that you had this really nice family holiday ☀️

Greetings from that other side of the same sea 👋

Greetings!

Ah yes, it is the white island after all. I had to add some intrigue :OD

It is one of my favourite spots for a holiday. I love all things Spain. Although I have only been to Barcelona and a few holiday spots! All of them bright and un-dark!

Our writings without any intrigue {dark or bright, it doesn't matter} would be unacceptable :D

Spain hides many little gems too but I guess that discovering all of them would take some time 😅

Our writings without any intrigue {dark or bright, it doesn't matter} would be unacceptable :D

Oh I so agree!!

It would be a great time to discover them all or at least a lot of them! :O)

I have always loved the cities that are surrounded by fortification walls and of course the colour of blue and white of the Mediterranean and the Aegean 😉

I love that too. I didnt expect such a biggiue in this case but it was grand. You have all the best seas in this area!

Woo hoo what a beautiful place, what pauses, the light of that city, the pina colada, even the apt with the "for sale" table made me happy this Tuesday.

It makes me remember that frivolous, and funny life so mine, the relaxation with the sunset and sunset that announces the night in Technicolor lol great holidays on that island of fishermen freedom and refuge.

When I saw the for sale I genuinely thought. Well, why not. Then the price proceeded to put me back on earth, lol.

You probably see gorgeous sunsets like that all the time? We see grey skies and black nights mostly! :OD

Yes I see a lot of sunsets with intense light. It was especially cloudy in my city today. I shared to You, my look at 6:30 am.

1000021262.jpg

Ah you can see the difference in the skies. The sun pushing through and the pinks and reds. We sometimes get good sunrises but most times the cloud obscures all

It is true when the day is gray, fortunately we with our good attitude are the light in the firmament.☀️

That is the spirit and the attitude we need! Yes indeed!

Thank You so much .

I was there many years ago on an 18-30 holiday. Yes, sun, sea, sand and sick, or something like that. I didn't see the old town, but I would appreciate it more now.

I was there for that kind of holiday too and it was an awful one. There really are some nice parts to it though

Sure new how to build walls the Spaniards did, still standing for you to slog your way up, little one has the right idea ice-cream.

Not that the drink does not look enticing, just too sweet on a hot day, stick with beer....

So you found Hilter did you in those frocks, now that makes for interesting lesson to be taught in this day and age!

@tipu curate 2

They really did. I thought we had all the best castles and fort type walls but when saw this I was like blimey! Really thick and really tall. No getting up over them or through them I think.

The drinks in the sun were the perfect tonic to the winter that I have come back to! :OD

Castles normally close to water when built, must be a way under? Looked like you needed a drink a lot earlier than you realized tackling uphill staircase.

Thought you possibly had put the flippers and snorkel away, dream on about that perfect pine tonic under sunny skies, you back on home turf ain't yeah!

I was glad on that day that I hadn't drunk anything going up the stairs. What a climb!

I did reward myself on the way back down :OD

Younger ones make it look so easy....

Looks an amazing place to holiday.

It probably doesn't feel so good to come home after a place like this, man haha. Maybe you should have told that guy that the cannon is still actively firing automatic shots every few hours and he would have gladly walked away XD

I dunno, he seemed glued to the damned thing. I was like, move!!

It feels pants being back but I suppose that just means the holiday was super good!

Awesome!! Looks like a great time was had and the dark brotherhood's money was well spent!

Channeling that venga boys vibe:

I didnt stop singing the Venga boys the whole time through!

One must always spend the Dark Brotherhood's money well! :OD

Those are really nice photos you got there. That view from the top overlooking the town and sea, with the clouds as the background is simply breathtaking. The water is so clear, and the sunset looks beautiful. The place is so gorgeous that if you take photos from morning, noon, and night, you get different types of beauty. Thanks for sharing this.

I do love the water most of all. The sea here can often be a little murky so it is amazing to see crystal clear waters with actual fish in them!

That looks like an absolutely fantastic trip!!!!

I'm adding it to my list. 👍

It was a very good one. The best in ages!

Not a usual MR Boomy post, But it's lovely to see this beautiful from the lenses of your camera MR Boom. Wow, just Wow, how pure the water on this beach is. I am stunned. A perfect place to take your family on vocation ;) I love the sunset photos also.

Cheers 🥂

Looks like you had a great time. I'm amazed to see the fish swimming about your feet. Never seen that before.
Mr Hilter in a dress. Totally expected.

The fish were quite the thing. They just milled about that little cove all the time and didn't seem fussed about humans at all!

Well done on going on holiday! Damn, that pina colada looks nice.

Had to lol at the conspiracy line and the Hitleresque statue, but the pic that I enjoyed most was the fishies by your toes. There's a foot fetish community on Hive, you should post that in there and let them drool over them 😁

Welcome back to the world of Meh. It's not that bad really.

A foot fetish community. lol! There isnt, surely?

The fish were amazing. I didn't even need to fanny about taking underwater shots because you could just see them plain as day!

Ok fine, maybe it's not a foot fetish community, it's just a feet community. I've had my toes nibbled by fish before, it's a freaky feeling when you can't see them. That water clarity is awesome.

I went for a feet pedicure by fish or something many years ago. It was free and it was part of a trend I think at the time. It was very odd and a bit ticklish!

Feet, of all the things to get community about!

I've been out of the loop on here this Summer being a tad to busy in 3 dimensional life, but I missed your joining a Dark Brotherhood? And becoming a Satanist? Gosh, you've kept yourself busy, I'd say idle hands are the Devil's playthings, but I'd assume (in your new religion) one would want idle hands? So hard to keep up ;)

Boy, what I'd give (maybe not my soul to the unHoly one tho) to have that bronze in my garden! I'd tell people it was called, "The Worried Vicar" and I'd plant Violet's at his feet in Spring and give him a little coronet of laurel in the Summer.

I hope all is well and you enjoyed your holiday and your tributes to your Dark Brotherhood as well.

Only a member of the Satanic Cat Society, I let the cats do the satanism part I just do admin :OD

It was quite the piece, the bronze. In a little garden of its own. I think it was a monk. I didn't translate the plaque but my rough Spanish told me so. An excellent setting and I am sure he would appreciate the flowers!

All is well here, I hope you have been enjoying 3D life! :O)

It's sad that most of the cities and countries out there have some sort of stereotypes as some might look at Ibiza as being a place just for clubbing. But along with clubbing, there are a lot more important aspects that do bring their contribution to create such a beautiful place. So I'm happy to see a bit of that side shared in your post too :)

Thank you! I love the island and I wish more people were aware of it as being more than bninge drinking and drug fuelled clubbing!

Which isn't all that from what I remember!

Some baseball-capped oik insisted on riding my gun whilst I tried to get a selfie.

Giggity

:OD

He is lucky it never went off! LOL

There's a little blue pill for that..

hahah, they werent selling them ones!

Lol your post is great!! Thank god Ibiza has more to offer than only huge parties! Lol, no… I was suspecting that, but of course most of the people talk about the parties and things related to that…

The city seems to be beautiful and those old walls are the evidence of a place with a lot of history in its land.

I love the blue door and window, and I also love the beach with the fishes there swimming with the visitors! The photo of the sunset is stunning.

Yah, it has many manny things to offer but perhaps nothing beats the sheer relaxment that is to be found in just sitting and chilling to some laid back tunes by the sea! :OD

Beautiful Place , I love the Old Buildings. My Wife was showing me on YouTube that Medieval Houses in Sicily are going for 1 Euro! No Employment.

Oh I saw that! They were hoping to draw people into the area. I was blummin tempted but I remember I think that it was around the time of Covid, Just before or after and there was all the fear going about.

It would be hard to refuse that kind of offer. Sadly the only Italian I know is bella bella :OD

Wow two weeks! That's quite the trip. I've never been to Ibiza but it Looks amazing, judging by the photos. The white buildings are really cool looking with the blue accents. Great fish picture. Looks like it belongs on a screen saver!

I love Pina coladas on vacation. They are my go to drink

It was a fair old long time which was magic. When I saw the blue window/door details my first thought was of you!

PIna Coladas are the best. Especially when they make them awfully strong. That and a Caribean Royal which I got in Bulgaria once and have never seen elsewhere, It was banana liquer, rum (I think) topped up with prosecco. It was blummin marvellous. Till the next day at least :OD

my first thought was of you!

That's funny 😂

Yeah on cruise ships I've tried some interesting combinations. Add a shot of Baileys to a Pina colada and thats quite good as well. 👍

Ha!!! Never thought of that one. It sounds excellent! I'm trying it soon 😀😀

Nice! Good luck. 👍

Away from the drugs n alcohol, silly dancing, crap loud music and pools of vomit on the pavement, Ibiza looks pretty decent

And there is a lot of that in the southerly parts!! I steer well clear!!

LOL, I suggest you made a good call!

Even though we tried to deny it probably due to the weight of work on our shoulder, but the truth is we actually need to go for holiday sometimes just to refresh ourselves and get renewed. This is what I have been lacking for a couple of months and I am hoping to kickstart back

A holiday is good for the soul. I hope you manage to get a break!

I've always heard about Ibiza but this is my first time seeing pictures of the place
I love it. You had an amazing trip

Twas a smashing time. I can't wait to go back!

It is very good when one goes to such a beautiful place with his family to visit many natural sights and see many new things. And forgets his troubles for some time.

It's the forgetting your troubles part that is the best! 🙂

Yeah hope so.
