I hate TV's in the gym. Unlike for all the woke folk tuned in. I unlike them to death.
I could be in the middle of cardio which I am now or something else, doesn't matter, there's TV's all over this place waiting to distract me. War, natural disaster, weather, mass-shooting; LEAVE ME ALONE, TV!!! And then they go and put a buncha college girls on one jumping around in their little cheerleader uniforms like I'm supposed to be able to keep count of whatever I was doing a second ago.
The Iowa State girls killed it!
There's no volume. They play gospel music in this gym, my earbuds have drum and bass as loud as they'll go. Flipping and twisting, dancing and :pause:
And then pick back up again without missing a beat.
They threw a girl from one side of the stage to the other and then another girl the other way. They both did a back flip / toe touch thing through the air—killed it.
According to the judges, however, DanDays knows zero point zero about cheerleading cuz Iowa State didn't even place which means yes, I watched the whole thing. I got nothing else accomplished in the gym today. I stayed on the treadmill the whole competition all the way through to the results.
Hey, the University of Tennessee girls are next, that's cool, they're on the other side of the street. Just across the Appalachian's to the light purple one on the right.
They didn't do near as many twisting twirly things as the Iowa State girls. They ran in place a lot, kicked their legs real high and played catch with their pom-pom's, next!
They got 3rd place.
Whatever. I never claimed to be an expert at it. If it wasn't on the TV, I wouldn't have to watch it for all the wrong reasons.
Ohio State sucked. That's what I wrote down, I don't remember which one they were. I wrote they sucked and then didn't say anything else about them until the results where once again I scored a zero point zero cuz Ohio State took home the 2nd place trophy.
I nailed first place though—University of Minnesota. They were next level. Michigan killed it, too. Second place, I thought, for sure said no one else—didn't even place.
The University of Minnesota girls took first place like look the fuck out Jabbawockeez. Those other schools had about as much of a chance at the U of M girls as M E getting anything else done in there today. I don't know how long that competition was but I watched the whole thing.
Stupid TV.
wow! They really did knock it out of the park! Like you, I never would have caught this unless someone pushed it into my face, as you kinda just did, and I'm glad.
Had they not been that good I probably wouldn't have put this together. Glad it's not just me.
Fun fact:
I had a surprisingly and totally unexpectedly good time asking people like Pura even, you got any photos of cheerleaders? = }. I would've used one for the cover.

Must admit I was a bit perplexed that you thought I was likely to have something like that. Got cheerleaders for all sorts of things but no actual cheerleaders.

Between me and you, it's just us here, right? I'll take all the encouragement I can get, thank you more than THIS. What you see isn't what I'm accustom to. I've still never been to any of the other social internet things so I'm a work in progress. I built tower cranes for 20 years, public anything isn't my thing. It's all practice. The post button is my nemesis, hate that thing almost as much as TV's in gyms. It's never an easy button.
When I know it's not just me who think it's funny, I give long winded explanations like this cuz sometimes thank you is kinda weak.

We haven't owned a TV since 2017. I used to love it. I'd watch all kinda acronyms—AGT, NFL, etc. Haven't missed any of them. At the gym though? Distraction.

Last time I lived in California was 2017. That was the last time I had a TV. That was about the same time I stopped watching the NFL. Not surprisingly, I haven't been in need of a TV since.

There was a time when I was so fond of watching TV. Then some changes in life made me quit those urges. I have a T.V in my bed room. I never switch it on.
Nevertheless, I live in a joint family and there are other TVs too. When they sre switched on, I do get distracted 😒
I'm not completely innocent. We fall asleep to whatever show my wife puts on the computer. It's her computer though, all bright and rectangular, keyboard and a cord thingy, I don't even know how to turn it on.

It's how I wake up. In all the places we've been, it's just what I do. Like coffee but not really. Training, cardio, or bice versa, fires up veins and lungs and stuff, not to mention work on content and respond ro comments.
By the time I get home, sun's about out dependinfbwhat month it is, Pura's just about awake. Atlas is at thw door with her leash in her mouth. Shower, eat, then the real miles begin

It's not a bad place, here, wherever the hell I am. Still get some decent seafood and privacy is plentiful at about 1/16 the price of California. We got a 10 year plan here, capitalize on some this's and that's and then go back. When all my friends don't have to work anymore.
Only thing I didn't account for back in 1995 when they told me I needed 37,500 hours to fully retire was all my buddies did other shit so they'll have to work til their 62 (plus or minus).

Yeah... moving slowly here because I want to keep the momentum going when I get going again. I get all excited and then can't contain the creative energy and burn out. Reminds me of a story. I should write about it.
Back home, in Long Beach, I would meet once a week with a Pilipino dude for Bible study at Panera Bread. We did that for awhile. Whoever got there first typically brought or got drinks for each other. Sandwiches, whatever else. Every once in awhile he'd bring us empanadas his wife made.
One time, he invited me to his place to practice. She made them fresh that night. O M G. I could do a whole post about those things.
