STEEM Is In Our Hands: What Are We Going To Do With It????

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

@dan did a terrific job designing a blockchain that has all the attributes to put it at the front of the line. We have a system here with 3 second transaction times and zero fees. This is unheard of in this new industry and will set this blockchain (and the others @dan creates) apart from the rest. While other networks are figuring out how to scale to hundreds of transactions per second, @dan is working on making 1M transactions per second available.

It is no secret that @dan left a year ago. This is very common of inventors. Now STEEM is in our hands. The question is what do we do with it?

Since I joined in August, this blockchain made tremendous strides. Growth is better than I think most envisioned even though we still are operating with a manual approval process. The number of daily active users keeps climbing which is a wonderful thing. As we see more people entering the fold, the reward pool is designed in such a way that they can profit. Over time, as evidenced by the stats I keep posting pertaining to this, the distribution of MVest to each category keeps readjusting. Even with the limited number of signups due to the manual process, we are seeing the Red Fish and Minnows acquiring a bigger piece of the pie collectively.

Since we are now tasked with the progress of this blockchain, this brings up another fundamental question: why are you here?

Some are drawn in by the lure of money. This is no surprise since this is how we market this blockchain on YouTube and Facebook. Since it is what we tout, that is what we attract. This can lead to many departing in frustration at the lack of easy money.

Watching their behavior, we can see what they are here for.

There is a book that I came across a number of years ago titled "Power vs. Force". The central premise of the book is that there is a difference between power and force. One is natural, uplifting, and pure. It taps into consciousness further creating. On the other side is force which is negative, requires constant feeding, and based upon coercion. While force might be effective for a while, it will crumble when it meets true power.

Power just is. It stands on its own regardless of the number of people who support it.

Why do I bring this up?

Simply to illustrate how we need to tap into that which is powerful. I am here to help change the world via this blockchain. I believe that STEEM can help rid people of scarcity and move into the world of abundance which is so natural. Since most of us operate in an economic environment, one that is not tilted in our favor, I believe we need a new paradigm. STEEM is that paradigm.

Radically altering the fate of humanity by lifting it up is power. It contains the central essence of power...meaning. Whether one person or one hundred million support this idea, it is valid either way. And it has the ability to inspire, uplift, and motivate.

Contrast that with money. How often do we hear about someone who is driven by money and strives hard to make it in business only to reach the "midlife crisis"? Or worse, the pursuit of money meant long hours costing him his wife, a relationship with his kids, and his health. Suddenly, well off at 50 yet no knowledge of who his kids really are and suffering from all kinds of physical afflictions (usually requiring medications). Many wake up one day and ask "what was the point?".

STEEM has the potential to be a truly powerful blockchain. It can have a great deal more meaning that simply being a place for online social media. We are able to tap into something much bigger to improve the plight of millions around the world. Are you willing to do that?

This is not a short term venture. I feel we are in a wonderful position to truly profit over the next couple of years. If you are looking at your account today and feeling there is no hope, well that is what you will get. People need to understand interaction with others is the crucial aspect to this blockchain. Success depends upon other people. This is not a do-it-yourself program. It is only through helping others that we get the help we need.

"The way to get what you want is to help others get what they want."

That is a concept Zig Ziglar would promote to businesses and individuals he worked with. It seems to be the essence of what STEEM is all about.

It is also an idea that epitomizes power.

So are we acting from a place of power or are we in force mode?

The way to tell is simply look at how you feel and how others who read what is written feel. Consider the analogies that are used. What message do they convey? Is it positive and uplifting? Or does everyone involved feel worse off? This is something many Steemians are going to have to ask themselves.

I feel the biggest challenge with all this is the fact society promotes force as success. We see it in our leaders, governments, celebrities, and institutions. Countries wage wars; companies engage in campaigns to grab market share; employees step all over each other to get promoted. Terms like "driven", "hungry", and "go getter" are appreciatively used. We are led to believe these are good things.

The sad fact is these individuals are often abusing substances, their families, and themselves. Reach the target and another one is set. Again, force needs to keep being fed. Whether it is at the individual, company, or national level, it is always the same.

Steemians can reverse that trend. We can uplift humanity simply by supporting each other. There is no need to act like the rest of society does. We are in the world of abundance. STEEM has no top. No matter how much SP (and SBD) is issued on a daily basis, in terms of fiat, which all countries are using, there is no limit. STEEM can go to $5, $50, or $500.

Power can work miracles; something we see on here on a regular basis. There are people here who are paying their bills from the STEEM they earned. The financial fates of their families, something that was dire, is improved because of the action we take on here daily. Something that was in the mind of @dan just a few years ago is now providing some basic necessities for people. This is where the invisible becomes visible.

I feel a great deal of my success on here has come from the fact that I am truly committed to seeing STEEM become a game changer for humanity. We have the opportunity to introduce millions of people, including ourselves, to freedom. While society likes to give this lip service, the truth is almost none of us are familiar with this. Big Brother is always around. For the first time in our lives, we have a forum where we are free to do as we desire. The trouble with that is so are others which creates conflict when people behave in ways counter to how we think they should. Nevertheless, this is part of the learning curve humanity will have to go through.

If we continue to behave like we always have, we will get the same results. Many come onto this blockchain complaining about the ills of society and how they were treated in a world run by banksters. It is a world of war, conflict, and fear. Basically, it is abusive. The challenge is people repeat the same behavior on here. They lash out in self-justified ways using analogies that are commonplace in society. Of course, people profess to be loving and spiritual as they are rationalizing the most absurd behavior.

The time to lift up our behavior has come. We have the opportunity to change right before us. Are we treating others how we want to be treated? How are we doing with being polite and respectful of the views of others, even if we disagree with them? Are we attacking, slandering, and trolling in an effort to degrade another?

STEEM has been handed over to us.....what are we going to do with it???

Reading a good article/post is just as rewarding as a received upvote! But he, this is were curationrewards come in as a bonus!!!

A really hopeful, inspiring and uplifting post. I hear you, but it takes some time to adjust to this platform and for some, it feels and looks too good to be true; people interacting, making comments and getting paid for them. They don't understand where the money is coming from and so they start to doubt. You see, we have been conditioned to be negative about life, and that's hardly surprising when you look at central bankers, globalists and elitists who have all reduced the world to financial and physical rubble. I'm long on this blockchain. It is going to achieve great things - not least, lifting the poorest in our society, out of poverty. At the other end of the scale though, we know the bankers and globalist mobster's won't give up without a fight. What happens when JP Morgan, George Soros or Facebook sends over some some 'Instawhales' to wreak havoc on this platform, sabotaging it for normal people? Once word gets out and people start abandoning mainstream social media, this could become a real problem. Imagine building up your reputation and following for 2 or 3 years, only to have someone with huge SP come in and downvote you, wiping you out and hiding all the posts they don't agree with? It's quite a cause for concern and my only worry on here.

I honestly think downvoting is an action of “force’ not power and should be eliminated. It’s one thing to withold your upvote, quite another to be able to erase someone elses vote or cause economic harm.

In it's current form yeah it's very chaotic and unchecked. Personally I think the flagging system needs a huge change to become legitimately powerful. I've written a lot about how we should have trials by jury here and start acting more like a mini-government.

Crypto is in the Wild West phase, things should sort themselves out in the years to come. I simply keep telling myself that Steem has only been around for two years. Where will it be in the next two years?

The longer they wait to buy in and become "insta whales" the more they are going to drive the price of Steem up. If someone tries to pump a billion dollars into Steem, it's going to increase the market cap way way higher than a billion dollars. Supply and demand. Plus, they still wouldn't have the most Steem. Millionaire whales that HODL and refuse to sell would become "billionaires" over night. Also, it wouldn't be hard to make a bot that simply canceled out another whale's downvote if you had the SP to back it up.

The whales on this site have honestly already been selected. This is a problem that EOS is trying to rectify by having a year long ICO period.

The importance of a vision to Steemit is a priority, for me, Steemit is all about empowering people. Steemians must know the direction they want to steer themselves.

This is true. However, it is quite hard to achieve, and requires much perseverance from a lot of people.

I'm in Steemit because I want to learn more, I want my views and opinions to be free and not censured. Steemit gives me the opportunity to be part of this great transitions from the centralized world, too the decentralized new world.

One thing that I think truly sets steemit apart is what you said about helping other succeed with make us successful. It was ingenious to like your SP to the upvote value. I feel that the more successful I am on Steemit the more I can help people. I remember when my vote went from 1 cent to 2 cents I felt such a great accomplishment. I now can give double to others. I think this mindset is what will help steemit be successful and what sets it apart from all others. It doesn't cost anything to transfer or use steem. You can organically obtain it by providing useful content to others. I think the future is very bright. We all just need to keep working hard and sharing our successes with others. Great post.

Yes, the SP increasing your VP is a key component in making this website and blockchain work extremely well. I think it really benefits us all.

I think, your key sentence "I feel the biggest challenge with all this is the fact society promotes force as success".
Am i right @taskmaster4450

That sentence was a key sentence to me too.

Awesome article! I find your articles to be the best ones in here. Keep up the good work.

"Or worse, the pursuit of money meant long hours costing him his wife, a relationship with his kids, and his health."

Ah, ah... in my case, health is all that remains, as I never married and won't be having any kids. Instead of growing up a family, I'm usually on a lone quest to see the world. And when I'm older...? Oh, well, I just have to get myself a robot to keep me safe... and warn the hospitals, in case something bad happens to me.

As for SteemIt. My quest in here is somewhat strange. I have been using Facebook and Google in a similar way... so I thought to myself, if I can do the same and be paid, that would be a lot better than what Facebook and Google are offering, which is selling my data to other companies so they can target me with their ads.

Only time will tell what this site will become... but I fear toxic people with too much money might feel like they have a green light in SteemIt to do whatever they please and ruin the experience for others.

this great post I appreciate your freedom thanks for sharing ... best of luck...

this is an amazing post. i appreciate your post dare. keep it up!! thanks for sharing

Amazing post....i like your post..... thanks for sharing........

i think its an informative info...
i appreciate your info.
thanks a lot for sharing...

Very good blog. We should do this @taskmaster4450

thanks a lot for sharing this valuable post.
carry on please...

nice post with beautiful words.

2 great questions:
My aswers.

  1. Why am I here?
Welll I do like the interaction with others. Discussions about topics like these. It broadens up my viewpoints and get more insights in how people from other sides from the world think about daily issues. Did I came for the money. Yes and no. I have to admit that this the key point about signing up. But no I would have stayed here if there wasn’t any money involved.
  2. What should we do with Steemit?
Thats a difficult question to answers. From a technical point of view a more easier editor would be appreciated. From a philosofical point of view. Really no idea! I do like the fact the the biggest difference between facebook and twitter is that I don’t know the community here in real life.

How your thinking is very good and I think your writing experience is very good I would love to see your post....

It is absolutely true"The way to get what you want is to help others get what they want."
We can be successful only if we help each other and love to see others happy. And whoever joined the platform for any other reason wont stay for long.

It's a great platform, with a lot of potential, but it's still very early in its development. We have the power to make this amazing, or to kill the goose who laid the golden egg - and that's what makes this a fascinating social experiment.

We can create a great onlne community, even a society, which truly benefits those most deserving. And I really hope we do - that would be amazing. But that's not necessarily how it'll play out. We can equally F it all up.

For me, the biggest challenges are the learning curve involved, and the expectations new users arrive with. If people want easy money, they'll be very disappointed - and leave. This is what stands in the way of Steem truly taking off.

I do believe it will take-off, and once it does, the next challenge will be what's blighted other social platforms - noise. A massive amount of content competing for attention. There'll be no algorithm to weed out the crap. How do we do that with a no-censorship ethos?

What we should all remember, from those with the most SP to those with the least, is that a rising tide floats all boats. Yes, some might do better than others, but it IS possible for everybody making a contribution to gain. I keep my fingers crossed.

I want steem from you . Going to resteemit your post.

I really look forward to the next fork. The addition of groups will make the platform every better.

Great post as always!

I am here to be on a social media platform free from advertising and owned by the community.

I want to connect with like minded people and make an income in doing so.

@dan ,he is genius he never stops creating new things....i kind of envy him...

The platform has been awesome to be a part of! I have never engaged in other social media platforms given their business models not being in my best interest. However, Steemit aligns with it as it puts me in a community interested in helping each other grow and improve. As the platform grows and continue to improve on technology, we will all benefit. Thanks for the insights!

Thanks for the informative post sir... it's really motivated... 👍

It was pleasant to read, thank you !

To be honest I haven't seen any trolls on this platform yet. I think this ecosystem is built in such a way that sort of behaviour is a waste of time.

I agree with you @calatorulmiop.

Since our SP depends upon the upvotes of others, being a troll is not going to endear one to others. It is a great way to get oneself ostracized by the community.

Unlike other sites where one can persist, on here, the reputation goes negative making it tough to be seen. That seriously affects income.

i am just going to HODL it this is the virtual diamond in our hands :)

Many of us were lured in by the scarcity mindset that we want to earn. How do we earn it by chasing after upvotes, asking for follow for follow, votebegging to dolphins and whales.

I have seen these with a lot of newcomers and some people who have been in the platform earlier than me. They try to hoard the attention and votes of whales, they get jealous if the whale removes their support to them and supports new ones so they go and find a new whale to kiss ass to and sing eternal praise as long as they receive upvotes.

I was an angry little man at the start because I felt it unfair that I was not receiving big votes. Angry and selfish.

My paradigm shift happened on my 2nd month as I realized that Steem is a gifteconomy and having a scarcity mindset was setting myself for failure here.

So I focused more on others as I commented more on outside posts other than my own. Helped start communities, became better in engagement. This shift from scarcity to an abundance mindset of giving more to others rather than keeping it all to me paved the way for me to gain more followers, gain more engagers who liked what I wrote.
Even netted me a couple of delegations.

So what am I doing in Steem?

  1. I build communities with @steemitfamilyph and @promo-mentors
  2. I build charities with @giftinkindph
  3. I encourage engagement in my account.

Oh wow @taskmaster4450... This is one of those gems of a post which kept me going a month or so back when I was so new... Just a few weeks down the line, I feel I belong here and your posts have contributed immensely to me sticking around and learning the ropes so that I now truly feel that this is a great chance we have to create a different life for us and for many others. We have the sacred responsibility to not let this great opportunity squander away. I think that's what our every action here should aspire to do. To make this sustainable, to make this help millions across the world.

To every reader of this post: the minimum we can do is post quality content, promote quality content and help users stick around and flourish.

I appreciate that when there are opposing views here, they tend to be respectfully discussed, and that ugly name calling and insulting are rare.

The opportunity to invest my time in something that has the potential to be life-changing in the coming years is exciting. But not so exciting that I would be willing to participate if it meant waiting through the negativity and hatefulness found on sites like Facebook. There's actually one other site that I participated in a little bit that pays for participation, and it may be very valuable someday and I may be sorry that I couldn't stick it out, but the bickering and bullying on that site just aren't worth the potential monetary value of the token there.

Something that was in the mind of @dan just a few years ago is not providing some basic necessities for people.

now rather than not?

We are still very early in the game here. I keep trying to wrap my head around the 100,000 entrepreneurs idea. The implications are massive.

Correct...thanks for picking up on that.

The 100K businesses on here is truly a large proposition. And that is the 5 years goal...how many by year 10?

Wait until my next post about the SMTs, 100K entrepreneurs does not necessarily mean start ups or small.....

Good thing that has room for some traffic, it might be needed at some point.

A well written post....this is what the steem ecosystem should be like...i hope that with guides like you and all the others that want to create a world of abundance for others here on steem; the goal reflected in this post will not be defeated....i will upvote and resteem...cheers

You are correct Task. I try to turn people on to Steemit, by telling them about the potential of this blockchain, and all they have is negative questions. How much time does it take? How do I get paid? What can you buy? What do I need to do? Blah, blah, blah...
I tell them look at the FAQ section and decide on your own. I'm not going to baby-sit someone into making money. I have my own quailty content to create. Knowledge is Power Task. 😎

You can lead a horse to water @wonderwop.

It is sad but this is the reality that we face. All the people will be kicking themselves a year or two from now when cryptocurrencies are on everyone's consciousness and the fact they missed a grand opportunity.

I am so bullish on STEEM that an account with 500 SP will be truly life changing over 5 years. That is how powerful things are.

And people are worried about how much time it will take? If you have to invest every waking moment over the next two years for $500K, would you? Most would.

That is the potential that is here.

Yet few see it...that is why they will continue to be mired in the life they are presently living.

BOOM ! Spot on, I'm here completely by accident, but the more time I spend here the more I learn. The decentralization of it is also another reason I'm here for the long haul. While being slow to keep up, its just do to my own slave requirements. I am currently breaking chains a little at a time. Coercion and threats of abuse from the system are no longer effective on me, I simply ignore them. Peace, JerryT

When we say Steemit (STEEM) is the future and Facebook killer, we are basicly saying that the potential of this blockchain is so big, and already so well worked, that it will revolutionize the way people live.

People hear about cryptocurrencies and a revolutionary technology and immediately associate that to BTC, but the reality is that Bitcoin is not even close to one of the best of its kind. It is our job to change this, with time, because we are still, very early, adopters of this great platform and it has a lot to grow and change lives.

I think the growing pains we go through on here have been things that were going to pop up eventually, it's good to find the issues early-ish.

Coming onto steemit is pretty odd, there's money to be made, but it still is work in a way, we still are producing some form of content, whether posting, commenting, or creating applications, and possibly SMT use in the future. The great thing is, everyone has their individual voice.

Power vs Force is David Hawkins right? Guy has some great quotes, haven't read any of his books though. There is a peaceful power in each of us, we all have the ability to help shape the world, and shifting to an abundance mindset is a big shift we all need to make to help that shift.

Resteemed ya, loved this one @taskmaster4450

Correct...Hawkins.

He also has a book called "Letting Go" which is amazing.

.... shifting to an abundance mindset is a big shift we all need to make to help that shift.

I agree with you. We see so many, even on here, who still have the scarcity mindset. That there is not enough. They buy into what the media sells which is total lies. There is enough of everything on this planet.

There isnt enough food.

Horsecrap....there is enough food to feed the planet two times over, it is just not distributed well...in the US we throw out 25% of what we buy (higher in restaurants) yet 2B are basically starving.

STEEM is, as @wwf says, a trial run for the real world. How we behave on here is how we behave everywhere.

Those who buy into scarcity are going to realize that it still exists and miss the potential of what abundance has to offer.

I agree and that brings up a post that I'm contemplating writing which follows this thread. If I was a banker and I wanted to destroy steemit, this is what I would do. The scenario would be exactly what we see unfolding here at the moment.

However, with that said, there is a way around it. Don't participate. Don't give the banker any of our energy. We focus on the prosperity that @taskmaster4450 speaks about and build strength in our own communities. Yes, they will cause damage, but when our communities are strong we can then clean up the mess after their colossal failure. Scarcity thoughts drive fear and fear is what is driving the violence we are witnessing. That is human nature and it is so predictable that it is easy to elicit fear responses to generate outcomes.

The goal is to not feed that fear and proceed with prosperity models with the faith that it will work out. That is a VERY DIFFICULT idea to sell to those who let fear govern their actions.

@taskmaster4450, what are your thoughts about me writing a post about this topic?

I think it is a wonderful idea.

I often mention scarcity and abundance mindset without delving into them...especially as it pertains to the banksters....I assume people make the connection...perhaps they do not.

Also, providing a prescription for people to follow (our society is good at that as we know from all the opiates prescribed) as a means out of this scarcity arena would be a wonderful thing to add. People need to know that their behavior is aligning themselves with the banksters...what they profess to despise (a spiritual no no but that is another topic) is what they are assisting.

Divide and conquer is a technique they perfected....I look forward to reading the post you are going to write.

Actually my current post speaks to some of that already. Funny how we are synchronizing our thoughts to some degree. The bankster idea would follow my current post about physical and spiritual governance which has everything to do with scarcity and prosperity mind set.

LOL well I am trying to catch up on the posts...just got done with the one from last night...about your walk in the passive-aggressive world.

lol. now we are even. I cannot keep up with your work either! hahaha

I often mention scarcity and abundance mindset without delving into them

I feel like if your wanted to you could discuss a broad range of topics in your blog, maybe once steemit gets to a certain point of success you'll adapt the blog because people will know from experience that a lot of what you've been talking about with steemit and blockchain is coming true.

That is very true @jakeybrown. There is so many different directions I can go. I didnt start out writing about STEEM like I do or searching to uncover new happenings with the blockchain...I just basically fell into it with all the negativity that was taking place a number of months back.

I guess with this post, I am branching out a bit already LOL.

Bringing positivity to steemit is way bigger than most people think. Believing and expecting the platform to succeed can actually help it do so, so I think it was a really good move. If people are excited they're more likely to spread the excitement

I guess with this post, I am branching out a bit already LOL.

Ya, you kind of hit both topics pretty well with this one

Don't give the banker any of our energy.

"Where attention goes energy follows" - Somebody

The more attention we put on improving or on great users who are doing awesome things, the faster this platform will grow in a positive way. The more attention we put on all the crap and selfish people here the worse off we'll be.

It's like we need to "be the change we want to see in the world," not focus on all the crap that we wish was different, so

We focus on the prosperity that @taskmaster4450 speaks about and build strength in our own communities.

But you're right:

That is a VERY DIFFICULT idea to sell to those who let fear govern their actions.

It's a hard thing to get through to people, but you can see so many people here who this is paying off for. If we don't have faith yet, sometimes it is best to observe the results of the people that do.

While I agree with your premise, we do need to explore the behaviour so that we can change it. If we don't do that then it is not possible to bring these issues into our conscious mind so that we can process, change and move forward.

My recovery from depression consisted of months and months of full time work examining the darkest behaviours and scenarios that I experienced in my life. It was painful but immensely rewarding and enriching. I learned a lot through the process and I found ways to change my behaviours because I was able to empathize with the people that I was hurting as a result.

I will speak of what I see and use it as a tool to show how it hurts others. The violence, coercion and blindness is a tool to reach out and empathize with others so that we can rise above, recognize how our actions hurt others and make the changes because in the end; We really do care about one another.

I am not afraid to shin a light into the darkness. I'm not afraid to confront what I find. The darkness must be explored so that we can bring balance to the two!

I guess I just mean that we shouldn't be focused on what we don't personally agree with in the world. Like people loving reality tv or following mainstream media and believing every word. Instead of dwelling on that we could be productive.

I consider exploring the darkness in ourselves to be extremely productive. It's one thing that we need more people to be doing, but it will always be up to the individual to do. We can help people along the way, but it is always on the individual, which is why I think helping guide people with this and giving them the tools to do it themselves is going to be very important.

There are countless people with a scarcity mindset, a fearful mindset. My question is, how can we go about helping them find abundance and peace?

We do it by walking the path. We lead by example and welcome them back from their battles to tend to their wounds. They will return when they SEE what we are talking about. We cannot change anybody but ourselves, that is why going to war does not work. We influence change rather than coercing it!

Using the methods given in Power vs Force your blog post calibrated at 360! Pretty damn good! Indeed, what shall we create here? Will it be a mirror of our own fears and primal instincts, or will it be a creation of higher energy? I'm encouraged to see there are leaders among us who have good hearts, who are trying to lift and encourage others. And I am encouraged to find most of the writing/blogging is uplifting in nature. Most people are kind and encouraging in their remarks. Perhaps one thing we can do is elevate the lust for money to a higher octave, to a higher energy of Abundance. Abundance need not just be financial but can be an abundance of heart, of compassion, of creativity, or generosity, etc. Could this possibly become a theme or inherent energy of Steemit? Depends upon us doesn't it. it is important that those who feel the fire in the gut for Steemit to lead by example, to embody higher energies in all they do here. Others will follow. Thats just the nature of things. And then support those who have the same vision or dream. Not random support but a conscious selection of those who will influence others positively. I suppose that is already in place but being a new bitty fishy I don't know al the systems in place. Thanks for the post. This is an important conversation. Thought you might like to see my more poetic response to @ned's update last week. herehttps://steemit.com/steemit/@mistermercury/a-dream-of-galaxies

Wow a 360...that is pretty good.

Did that include the comment section or just the article itself?

I agree about the idea that abundance is not just financial. Energy is a topic to monitor closely. I think most of us on here can realize the difference by an article (post/comment) that is uplifting versus the opposite. Scarcity takes on many forms and appears in many different ways. It is something each of us should try to monitor.

360 on the article. I'm somewhat of a novice though. Who knows maybe it is really 500!! If so, I look forward to a video of you walking on water! Funny, I've been re-reading his book. Started a few days ago. Was thinking I'd use it as a reference for a post. Look forward to your posts.

Have you a copy of Letting Go...I think that book even better than Power vs Force.

He really delves into things in that one.

Applicable stuff all around.

As for being a novice, you can rate all my articles...I am happy with a 360 on it. LOL

It's always so uplifting to come here and read your blog. I know you're just as aware of the "warts" on Steemit as others, and yet you continue to promote all the positive virtues of the platform for humanity. That's a wonderful thing in and of itself, and as more people begin to join and act the same way I know that Steemit and the Steem blockchain will blossom.

If nobody is writing about it @moneyinfant, than how are people going to focus upon it?

Most come onto Steemit it, like I did, thinking it was a way to make some money. While it is that, after a short time in here I noticed it really could be so much more than that. There is a paradigm shift taking place...one from being controlled to having the freedom to determine how we conduct ourselves. Without anyone telling us, freedom is a double edged sword since few know how to use it.

When looking at the possibilities before us, which path are we choosing for STEEM? Are we behaving in a manner that is uplifting and conductive towards the improvement of humanity or just behaving like this is Facebook part II?

It's true, someone has to be writing about it to get more focus on it, but that doesn't mean that most people WILL write about it. Many are taking the Facebook v.2 approach, and that's fine for them, but I think they are missing out on so much more. As do you I know, and that's why you're writing about it. Someone has to do it, and hopefully it helps put others on the right path for STEEM.

How are we doing with being polite and respectful of the views of others, even if we disagree with them? Are we attacking, slandering, and trolling in an effort to degrade another?

hi T.M. — I haven't been perfect in this area, particularly with spammers or extremely pushy/critical people. I think it's valid to stand up and bring attention to certain behaviors that are unwelcomed by the community or have overstepped boundaries.

I try to keep my interactions focused on behaviors rather than the individual. I avoid name-calling and profanity whenever I can. Sometimes it becomes more personal than it should and I disappoint myself.

I think that by warning spammers not to spam, I'm speaking up for a lot of beleaguered minnows who don't have the energy or confidence to step up. Also, whether I'm ignored or not, I've indirectly encouraged spammers to drop the funny business in favor of adding value.

On another hand, I find that sections of the community need a little comic relief, so I'm trying to give them a laugh at the spammers' expense without hurting and embittering the spammers too badly.

It's a balancing act that's hard to achieve, I'll admit.

Thanks for your input, bare minimum it helps me think twice.

I think much of the behavior you point to is bots...spam bots are common on here.

Also, spamming is something that is known to be frowned upon. We all can simply either ignore them, downvote this, or draw attention like you do.

Either way, I havent seen you go over the edge with it.

we should use this site vry crefully becoz this site gives use many ideas how to earn money in a single way....

The final paragraph makes me think a lot. Lot's of negative is created because there is a shade of it, that blocks out most of the positive in the world. I we want to be positive, we have to break through the shade of negative and really work to build a better world.

The discussion of power versus Force is very meaningful to me, though I think it would be better termed Force versus empowerment. The insight that one knows what one is encountering by the way it makes you feel is simple and direct. Lately it seems the idea that value is contained in attention, that attention is the currency that brings value, has percolated to the surface of my being. Yes it is only one side of the equation because the Creator still must provide value to the user in order to capture that attention. So what is it that we should assign value to in the form of payment? Is it the attention given to the work, or the work that captures the attention?
