Today is the national mothers' day in Finland.
This morning, before Vera or I even woke up, the boys had gone out and picked up some Wood anemone to solemnize the day. Later we had some cake and tea too. Leo took some photos of the cake, so I gather he'll be posting them some time today.
Here are the flowers the boys gathered for Vera:
Windflower (Anemone nemorosa)
I remember when I used to go out with my brother and gather these flowers for our mother in the early hours. It's a good thing the boys are carrying on with the tradition.
Of course, our mother has died, but I still remember her. Although I still haven't learned to cook the "flim-flam omelette". Happy mothers' day, äiti!
Maybe some day I will learn to cook it right.
But hey, everyone have a nice mothers' day, wherever you are!

A wonderful tradition, and magnificent flowers. In Russia, few people know about this holiday. Russians celebrate traditional Mother's Day on the last Sunday of November.
