Market Friday : Fishing Around for Tackle

in Market Friday9 months ago

Welcome to #MarketFriday! I am in search of a fishing rod for a birthday present. I admit to having six brothers and letting them do 99% of the gathering of the needed equipment. We kept our fishing tackle all together in the garage with one of the boats. The other boat was docked at the marina. My knowledge of how we acquired the gear was third-hand. It was family. That was good enough when you are young. It could possibly work for me on some days, even now. So, with that, I decided to go to Cabela's, which is a large outdoor sports store. Think camping and fishing, maybe even hunting 4 wheeling, or kayaking.

My dad always had a boat, as far back as I remember. It had a depth finder, but, what he really wanted was sonar, so he could monitor the bottom for clearance and for spotting fish or likely fish locations. Lookey! Lookey! There is one in every size, but, clearly pricey. Oh, look! It's on sale! See how they ramp up the excitement? Throw up that SALE sign and people believe it is. Does anyone remember the blue-light specials from KMart? Oh, they are legendary!

Today, my trip will be all about a fishing rod. I really thought that it would be pretty easy. See-Touch-Buy. Not a chance. I have already been to one other Sporting Goods store which was an epic fail. So, I decided I needed to do a little research. In fact, this is a fact-finding trip. Have you ever done a fact-finding mission?

“Fact-finding may involve researching documents or existing records and data, holding focus groups, interviewing witnesses, or using written surveys and questionnaires.”

Okay, perhaps not quite, but, close enough, yes? I'm looking for bona fide facts about these fishing rods and it seems like the other store was guessing about some of the facts. While I don't expect each person working there to know everything, I do expect a level of competency when dealing with customers. It is sad when I know more about their merchandise than they do. I am hoping Cabela's will be different than the other store.

I have to walk through the whole store to get to the department with all things fishing. A vacuum sealer! I think that is my favorite piece of equipment! Well, they all are, but, this one vacuum seals meat, fruit, and whatever else you freeze. I have never had anything go bad. The thing about this kind of equipment is that you need to buy the best you can afford and it will be with you for the rest of your life. You will give it away or throw it away before it wears out.

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here on Hive.

Cabela's Outdoor Sports Store
5291 Wellington Branch Drive
Gainesville, Virginia 20155
Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Boating Center
Hours: Opens 9 AM - 10 PM
Phone: (571) 222-9000

The third Cabela's in Old Dominion (Virginia) and first in the Washington DC Metro Region, is a 79,000-sq.-ft. store located at the intersection of Linton-Hall Road and Lee Highway in the Virginia Gateway development. The Gainesville store boasts an indoor archery test area, an aquarium, dozens of museum-quality wildlife displays, a Gun Library, and a Bargain Cave. If shopping the wide selection of outdoor equipment works up your appetite, stop by the in-store deli or snag a sweet treat in the Fudge Shop - their fudge is made fresh daily. The Gainesville Cabela's also features a full-service Boat Shop (for those trips to Lake Anna!) and a wide assortment of Cabela's Wildlife & Land Management products, including tractors, attachments, and implements. Find this and more here

Dehydraters! Another best kitchen piece of equipment! I like dehydrating snacks and different foods. You don't add anything to it, so it is a natural snack. It doesn't get any better than that. I dry different fruits. They make great snacks and are healthy too! You can buy a dehydrator here. The prices run from $39.00 to $200.00 - I have had the same dehydrator for over 15 years. I love it!

#14 20230726_151702.jpg

Do you see what I see? Fishing tackle!! I see hooks, lines, baits/lures, rods, reels, floats, sinkers/feeders, nets, spears, gaffs, and traps. On the other side of this aisle, there are wires, snaps, beads, spoons, blades, spinners, clevises, and tools that cut. I have to admit, it seems like an endless supply! I have to admit, I like looking at lures... Shiny and new lures... Reminds me of something else. :)

#9 20230726_143639.jpg

Everything is decorated with the hunter and gatherer in mind. Apologies if I have offended anyone. Not my intention.

#1320230726_151923.jpg

It has been a busy day, going from one huge sporting goods store to another. It wouldn't be so bad, but once you go down the wrong aisle and get caught up in the kayaks and camping equipment, you are lost in the wilderness of the store. It happens... and so, this quick little check or fact-finding mission went rogue. I got caught up in so many different ways. I did see a nice kayak that pretty much had my name on it. Perhaps Santa will bring that to me?

This is actually the second store that I have been at this week, shopping for a fishing rod, (pole) it is definitely not something I would want to buy online. It needs to be touched and it is usually nice if you can customize the rod handles. They protect your rod's handle from the elements.

For me, I probably have six fishing rods that were made for me, all saltwater poles and two of them deep sea poles. I know that is Greek to me, I just need a pole to fish. The fact that they were made for me is not lost on me, nor am I ungrateful. I cannot believe how unbelievably lucky I am and wished I used it more. Perhaps moving closer to the Shore House might fix everything.

Please leave the link to your post here so it can easily be found by others. It helps you and me to have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much for joining us!! ❤

And just like that, this post is done. I know! I say that every week, but, I just like to signal that the show is over! Thank you for taking the time to visit and just remember, #MarketFriday loves you! Because we went to Cabela's, there was nothing really new to learn, but, I did check out a new fishing pole for my son's birthday. They are no longer inexpensive and I decided to go back home to the family fishing shop and get it custom-built. Actually, I will send him but, I will make a fancy gift certificate and let him pick his poison. Cheers!!

As always, there must be flowers to color my world. #alwaysaflower Do you have a flower that is your favorite, that you like best? Better than all the rest?

I remember the blue light specials. Those were the days! I loved the KMart deli sandwiches. You could get like four in a bag for a buck. They even had a bit of lettuce and some mustard. Boy, I can taste it right now!! Wash it down with a frozen Coke. I would give anything to have a redo from those days!

Speaking of pricy (over-pricey) did you see the cost of those Yetis?!?

Ha! You and my dad! He got plenty of mileage bragging on a KMart that was near his Florida house. Yes! They became snowbirds! Hence the preponderance for all of their kids to get that second home in their twenties... saves time and money to do it young. No chaffing like when you get old. They had frozen Coke? Really?

Yeti! Talk about chaffing!!! Over-Pricey is righty! Up to $450.00 what I was looking at. Just for fun, of course!

Where are YETI Coolers Made? Corporate YETI Tundra Coolers are manufactured in the USA at facilities located in Iowa and Wisconsin as well as at an international facility located in the Philippines. The well-known custom YETI Hopper Coolers and logo-branded YETI Ramblers are manufactured abroad in China.

There is another one that seems to be a great comparison to Yeti and yet, much, much cheaper!

Thanks for stopping by! Always good to see you!

Have a great weekend!

#MarketFriday loves you!

I am pretty sure I have been into a Cabelas once but cannot remember where but it sure was not as impressive as the one you share today

thats cool you have 6 rods made specifically for you thats awesome, let me see how many Rods I have Hmmm one, oops sorry typo that should be None

Fishing is a big thing in NZ and most do it, but it never was for me, standing in one spot hoping a fish would bite no patience for that if the family went fishing I would go walk about while they did guess i have always bene Hyper

here is my post for this week https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@tattoodjay/market-friday-ryi6if

Haha! None!! How did I know that was coming!? You probably broke them when you were an errant boy! Confess! :)

Fishing was a big thing growing up, the sand from the beach was practically part of your yard... My brothers were all big fishers, but, only for sport, I will bet one of them was fishing every day after work when they got old enough, with fishing poles in their vehicles. Standing in one spot is more like a freshwater fishing experience, on the boat, you were kind of limited, but, on the docks or on the shore, you cast out and pulled in, walking along the beach. Yep, you are still hyper. LOL I am pretty sure you will never change and honestly, we all like you just the way you are!

Cabelas are always big, but, 79,000 square feet is more than big. I agree! The rods were made by family, so it was easy (not the word I want to use, but you know what I mean) for them to make them for all of us. The cost was cheaper than buying one in a store.

Thank you, JJ for stopping by and leaving your words, and dropping the link!

Have a wonderful weekend! Keep cool! 💜

#MarketFriday loves you!

I think I can honestly say I never broke a fishing rod
I think the family knew from the first time we went fishing as a family it was not my thing I remember my mum saying to me many times I was always different tot he rest of the family always on the go even from a very young age, I remember when she passed away my sister scanned and sent to me pages from her little black book, which we never knew she had where she jotted down notes about her life and us kids, lets just say the pages about me were hilarious, infact thinking about it I just skim read some it it now

Dang I was a nightmare, LOL when I was maybe 18 Months my dad took a week off and dropped mum off with family so she could get some rest for a week, I barely slept and was always alert and I guess craving attention and they mum was worried if she didnt get a break she would break down

then another note Dreading when John (dang I hate that name LOL) starts walking I can barely keep up with him crawling, so different from his siblings always alert and watching everything around him and wanting to explore everywhere

But i digress back to fishing, Nope its not going to happen LOL

How fun that would be to read back on my mothers' words now. I am sure she never kept a journal, or at least I never saw one. I would love to know what she thought about some events in our life! :)

You sound like you really gave your mother a run for her money, even at 18 months old. Some things never change! :)

Ah well, fishing is nice if you have a mind to relax and chat with friends. Besides, I like to catch what I will be eating. There is something gratifying about that.

Lol yeah it truly is a treasure I have the photos saved in multiple places of her journal so I never loose it

But I should say she said nice things about me as well I wasn’t all bad lol 😂

I'm sorry. I think I may need proof of that. 😂

Being me I like keeping it hidden and a mystery LOL

Wow! You have six fishing rods made for you!! Fantastic.
This is an amazing shop! I wouldn’t know where to start. I was thinking lately that I might need to learn to fish in the near future. So, I would have to do some basic research about fishing rod and the art of fishing.
I don’t think I would be any good at fishing as I would find it difficult to handle live fish on a hook. The friendly villager had a simple trap set up in the river. I saw he got a big fish one evening! He just set up the trap in the morning and checked it in the afternoon. Very little effort, but this depends on his luck too!

Have a nice weekend.

This is the link to my post:

https://ecency.com/hive-150329/@kaminchan/market-friday-shopping-for-old-fashion-pyjamas

The family has a shop, so this makes it easier to have done.

The Cabela's shop is actually pretty amazing with 79,000 square feet of retail space. That is huge! I was born and raised on the Atlantic Ocean so fishing (even for fun, which it usually was what we did) was something everyone around us did. Being difficult to handle live fish on a hook is not something I do. I hand it over to who I am with. I have to say, it is just as difficult handling it in a trap. Either way, you have to handle it. (Unless you have a brother that will do it for you.)

Have a nice weekend @kaminchan ! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words, then dropping the link!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Oh! I will have to learn to handle live fish one day! You’re so lucky to grow up by the ocean! Lots of fun on the boats and by the sea.

I would get lost in such a huge shop! A small shop is enough to give me a headache! Too many choices and hesitation!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I feel lucky to have grown up by the ocean. I always have. If you never get on a boat, you can still enjoy the salt and sea. It has a rejuvenating capacity.

The shops are too big for me, but, I am used to them. I don't like having all those choices myself. It is much better to have small shops and get to know the people running them.

Thank you! I hope your day is going well!

Really?! Six brothers?! I did not know that. And yet....it almost makes sense. It doesn't seem at all strange picturing you with a fishing rod hauling out the best of the catch. Me on the other hand. I was my mother's nightmare. My brother fished. My cousins all fished. My grandfather (her father) fished so of course she fished. Me? Hated it. When the sardines were beaching I would haul them with the best of them. But then that wasn't exactly fishing. And fresh sardines over fire are delicious. Or in a peri peri sauce. There would be so many schools beaching that we could scoop them in bucketsful. As we washed the dolphins surfing. But hooking those sardines to wet a line and catch the shad that were also chasing the schools of sardines. No thanks. My mom and I had many beach fights with her shoving a fishing rod in my hand and me promptly tossing it over my shoulder. Anyway. She and I (and a few more shad) lived to tell the tail. I still don't like fishing. Although I love eating a fresh fish. Yummy

Here's my entry. Just by the way 😎 I hold a camera better than I hold a fishing rod. Even if I am doing it around crutches
https://hive.blog/hive-196308/@buckaroobaby/planting-seeds-growing-children

Oh, yes! Three in front of me and three behind me. A sea of brothers. Did I forget to say that I had two sisters also? I do.

We fished because we lived on the Atlantic coast. I probably wouldn't have otherwise. Everyone had boats (mostly sail and pleasure boats) and although there were fishermen who did it for a living, they mostly sold commercially -to the restaurants - aka - The catch of the day.

We picked up beached fish too! :) When the schools would make a run. My brothers laugh because I don't take the fish off the hooks or bait it unless I absolutely have to, which has never happened! It might chip a nail, you know? I had never purchased fish to eat until I moved away from home, and the same for crabs, mussels, clams, and the like. Oh! you sent an entry along the way! If your mother could only see how talented you are now!!! :)

Thank you, lovely. You always go above and beyond! Love to you and the fam!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

#MarketFriday loves you!

A sea of brothers indeed! That's really special. I remember your two sisters. I can imagine how the boys all laughed at you saving your nails. But I still think it's wonderful that you were a fisherlady

Threw the line at around nine with my brother, never fully ventured down into full time. Brother went on to enjoy trout fishing, know anything about reels or rods, not today, nice you still enjoy looking after what you have over the years it is a relaxing sport.

Now I will comment on the stores pictures, awesome! Something I would love to see one day !LOLZ

Have a fantastic weekend friendly !LADY

Does he do freshwater fishing? Blasphemous! LOL

I do not freshwater fish (not if I don't have to) We have plenty of saltwater here. I am not a huge fisher, but, I did go last weekend and had a day at the water, the water was awesome.

It is always relaxing and fun to go, especially with one of my brothers! :)

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your always kind words.

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

#MarketFriday loves you!

Inland river and dam fishing, catch and release for the sport not to eat.

When he and I fished when young it was sea and river fishing did quite well nothing to be excited about, except to the very young mind!

Have a great weekend, perhaps some time to relax fishing. 🤗

Ha! Nothing to be excited about? Everything is exciting when you are young. :) The mind is such a vivid thing, isn't it?

Catch and release is good if there are no intentions of eating it. I don't believe in taking more than you can use.

The weekend is upon me and the heat is indeed here too.

Enjoy your day!

Many hours outdoor enjoyment, your legs took you where you mind wanted to go. Catching for sport, pleasant way to relax.

Wishing you a wonderful day hiding in the shade. 🌞

Denise, the fisherwoman! Interesting. I understand you have all the gear, just the decision to get closer to the Shore House needs to be rushed, right? Happy birthday to your son! Surely the new rod will bring him good luck in fishing. Because it's from mom, given to him with love. It's nice to give gifts to loved ones, so it was a joy for you too. I'm curious if you'll cook the fish your son caught...
You showed that huge store in your own style, the way I like it, the way it should be done for someone who has never been there and never will.

I also liked your feminine way of looking for rods. You've seen more home electrical appliances, haha...

I took your advice and took a break. I didn't post this time. I came close, started writing, quite late, and realized I wouldn't be able to finish in good conditions, so I gave up. Sorry. I hope for next week to get started earlier.

Have a nice and peaceful weekend, @dswigle, I wish you all the best!

I'm not a huge fisher like most in my family. I say that because most are brothers - and they all love fishing for fun. They all have boats and they take great joy in going together or with their families for a boat ride to one of the islands or another destination. I have fishing poles made special for me because of them. While I do like to fish, and do eat what I catch, or what someone else catches.

We all cook what we catch or we catch it with a person already promised the catch of the day. I will cook my son's fish. I am not sure his wife ever has, but, my son grills it. If we have people over, we usually will get some clams and mussels, if we are lucky a few crabs and have a feast. The best kind.

He he... you caught me looking at electrical appliances! :)

You know I never worry about the posts! I love when you do and I am happy to see you relax when you don't. There is so much to see and do on here now, I don't know where to go, so I go nowhere. :(

Anyway, I hope you have a splendid week ahead!

#MarketFriday still loves you!

It's clear you're a woman of the sea in many ways. I would have liked to be a sea boy myself. I'll add to that something I didn't do in this life until I die. I've gotten used to a very, very long list.
The best fish meal is the one with the fish caught by you, of course!
I know you're never nervous in Hive, in any sense, and that's very nice and inspires me too, thank you!

You knew!! Nothing tastes as good as the one you do yourself. Have you ever noticed that the chef can always eat their own food they prepare? I noticed that even if nobody else likes it, I still can appreciate my own cooking. Haha!

I hope I inspire you in a good way!

Of course, in a good way!
It's only natural that this should happen. I like the food I make too, even if Magda isn't too thrilled.

I didn’t know there are a lot of kinds and types of fishing rods. I thought you can just get anything and viola you can catch fish with it 😅 Well, I’ve never done fishing in my entire life so I wouldn’t know.. I wish I do though.
Funny you were looking at fishing equipments but ended up checking kitchen supplies too like the vacuum sealer (which seems interesting by the way, I kinda wanna have one too 😅).
Hope you found what you’re looking for!
Happy Market Friday!

Thank you @wittyzell 😍

You are the best!

Weeee thank you too as always!

Oh, you can get whatever you want and catch fish! I have done it with a tree limb and fishing string. :) We all did when we were camping in Canada. It was so much fun. We were kids! We didn't know enough to be insulted. We loved it! LOL

I know!!! I was looking for a birthday present for my son and ended up looking at kitchen supplies. I do love their kitchen supplies! The vacuum sealer works great and I use it all the time. I buy meat and other things and wanted to find a way to keep it fresh, or as fresh as could be expected.

So far, so good.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

#MarketFriday loves you!

Hahaha! I think I would find myself lost in the kitchen section too when I'm out shopping for other things. Kitchen stuff is just irresistible. 😂

I know!! From Dollar Store to Macy's Department Store... I will look! :)

I didn't realize just how many self branded items Cabela's had. It's amazing how much fish finders have improved over the years. I remember my dad used to have one and it basically took a PHD to read the thing. My niece was just down in Virginia. She took a tour of Radford University. She was really impressed. If she ends up playing softball for them I might need to make some trips down there in the future!

Here is my #marketfriday submission:

https://peakd.com/hive-193212/@bozz/friday-finance-7282023-officially-an-orca-for-real-this-time

I never do either until I get in there and start looking around. I was equally as impressed with the fish finders as my dad had one and I am pretty sure he may have cussed at it a time or three.

Virginia has a boatload of great schools, big and small. I personally like the smaller ones as it is like family, but, one of mine started in a bigger school and loved it. I say to them: Love the one you are with. Kidding! I hope they offer her a great deal! You will love it down there. It is filled with history from our founding fathers. Good luck to her! There are so many colleges to choose from. The world is her oyster!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

I am blown away by the variety! I didn't realize there were so many different rods and other miscellaneous fishing equipment invented. It's more than I could have thought of in my wildest imagination.

My entry for this week:
https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@tatdt/a-trip-to-the-black-market-for-books

Isn't it wild?? Who knew?? I usually go to smaller little privately owned shops where you know the people! Someone in the family owns such a shop and he makes the poles for all of us, we just pay what it costs him to order it for us.

It would boggle my mind if I used them all the time~ Too much merchandise to choose from!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Wow.. A lot of fishing types of equipment to choose . They all look good quality..

Here's my entry for this week's #MarketFriday

https://ecency.com/hive-140635/@jane1289/natures-beauty-around-butterfly-garden

Happy weekend @dswigle

There are 79,000 square feet of it! That is huge and it is pretty overwhelming if you don't know what you are looking for. They are good quality and they stand behind their merchandise, which is awesome.

Thank you! A butterfly garden! I love it!!! '

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Wow, you can fish!!!
And you have six of those rods made just for you!!!
... saltwater poles and deep sea poles...
I cannot fish, hahaha.
I love #marketfriday @dswigle!!!

I can fish! Although it is not something I do a lot, it is fun, especially when my brothers come into town and they want to do a seafood night or a fish fry. or clam bake or crabs...

I do have six rods made for me, mostly by my brothers. We have family that is in business and lucky enough we only pay the cost, which is downright cheap.

You cannot fish? Have you ever tried? I don't fish a lot, but, I always fish or crab or get mussels and clams when family comes. :) It can be fun. :)

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words !!

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

#MarketFriday loves you!

Okay, I still have my fishing pole from ages ago, which I keep for the memories. I'd go fishing with Dad and my two brothers, but I never caught a single fish!!! See, I can't fish.
But, I love the cleaning, frying, and grilling parts. Freshly caught fish is the best!
I am enjoying the weekend, and love #marketfriday!!!

Thank you!

I still have the fishing rods too. I use them from time to time, but, not as much as my brothers would like. :) My dad would take us way out in the Atlantic, or it seemed that way when we were kids. The boat was big enough to sleep 8, so we would spend some nights out... I am sure my mom appreciated it. :)

Fresh caught is best! Indeed!

The weekend has been nice! Enjoy your evening!

This looks like an amazing place to visit. I can see why it is so easy to get side-tracked and forget why you are there in the first place...lol! But it makes sense what you are saying about not buying something like this online.

And yes, as you are saying, you don't expect the staff to know everything...but in my opinion, if you don't know the answer, at least show enough willingness to help and go find someone more knowledgeable on the topic to come and assist the customer. Surely, if that is their line of business, there should be someone who knows what he/she is talking about.

I take it you haven't found the fishing rod that is to your liking yet?

You will find my post for this week here.

Exactly! They sometimes have a hard time hiring now, it seems like the youth of today aren't that keen on working. I don't know about there, but, there are help wanted signs in every window. I remember my first job, having to be the best, better than all the rest. Competition was strong for a job. I know... Moving on... :)

I didn't find one there and have decided to go the sure route, with family back home owning a shop that custom makes fishing rods, I will give him a card from there and they will take good care of him. Rather than have it made for him, he can let them customize it so that it will be perfect. It's not that I am fussy, it's just that if I can have it made for him for less. why not? I really hadn't thought about it, but, it makes better sense. And the love put into it!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

#MarketFriday loves you!

We have a similar problem here. The youth is not keen on working. It seems that they just want to walk into a senior (boss) position and make "big bucks"...but they are not willing to do the work first...

On top of that, we have politics that make it even worse... But that's a whole topic on its own...

It sounds like you have made a wise choice... and saving money in the process. Absolutely! As you say, "Why not?" I don't see that as being fussy, it just makes sense! And yes, it adds that element (the love put into it) that cannot be measured in money!

The Cabela's store looks so huge and had an endless list of items, it much be a big store.

First I'll like to say a happy birthday to the person you want to get the fishing rod for.

I can relate to expecting store workers to know much about what they're selling, than it going the other way round, just like how you experience knowing more than some of the staff in the other store you went.

I must say, that you're indeed lucky to have fishing rod made and customise just for you.

Here is my entry for this week.

https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@vickoly/market-friday-in-search-of-nigerias-popular-ankara-fabrics

Thank you! I will pass on your Happy Birthday wishes!

The store is massive, as they all are. Sometimes, it is too big to go into all the time. Too many things to go through while trying to run in and get one item. I still like smaller, more personal stores. It is a little odd to know more than the salesperson, especially as my knowledge is somewhat limited on some things.

I know I am lucky. Let me say that my brothers had a couple made for me because it is a family business and we only pay the cost of it to the business. Still, I am lucky as I have a couple of them. But, to be fair, I have also fished with a tree branch and fishing line. We were camping at my uncles' cabin and didn't have a pole with us! Still fun!!!

Than I s for letting me know!!

Sounds like a longggg search for the right gear to give.
I hope you eventually find the right one.

I love fact finding and do it with a lot of things. Research is my favourite past time… ok not really, but I love researching things and gathering more knowledge haha 😆

Those stores are huge… one can get lost easily in them. Hope you find a competent person that can help you buy the right one.
I hate it when I go into a specialist store and I know more than them 🤓 people don’t tend to care like they used to.

I show you today a bit more from Kylemore abbey… like the pony’s 😊 they are so beautiful in this setting.
🦄 ”THE CONNEMARA PONY at KYLEMORE ABBEY” in Connemara County Galway - Ireland 🇮🇪 Part 2~ MarketFriday

Have a wonderful Friday Denise 👋🏻☀️ almost weekend… I could use a break. I am sure you do too.
!LADY 🌺

I make it sound longer than it had to be perhaps? It has been a couple of days, and maybe a little more than that, but you are right. I do like fact-finding and always find myself doing it, even on things that I am not buying. More out of interest, curiosity, and sometimes, I just want to know! :)

The stores are huge and much as I like to have choices, I am not a fan of huge stores like this. Too much! Customer service is not what it used to be, for sure! Oh~ Kykwmore Abbey!! I can hardly wait!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

Still a little while.
Yep, exactly that… curiosity and want to know. So the same…

We went into such stores when we were traveling in the US. So I have seen them. They are too big for me too. I rather go to the little local shops and get a bit more service and help there where it is needed.
I know you think the same 😊

Yes… more from that beautiful space, next week even more 😉
Thank you so much Denise 👋🏻☀️🌺 enjoy your weekend.

Much love 🤗🥰

Oh, yes! They are all over, but they never used to be. Smaller, especially in New England. But, I am with you on the local shops, they get to know you shops. They just feel more personal, don't they?

It was too busy to do much online today, and the temperatures were over 100F today (38C)

Yikes! What a heatwave! The flights are delayed... because of the heat! Yikes!

Thank you, Jackie! @littlebee4!!

Yes, they sure do feel more personal 😊 we need once in a while those connections, as small as they may be. The smile 😃 and chit chat 💬 is what connects us.

Ooeefff to hot indeed. Especially if flights are delayed.
And here it’s 15 degrees Celsius… it should be summer. Where is the sun ☀️ hehehe 🤭 been raining for a week now. The weather is strange lately, as we said before.
We are thinking we maybe should be looking to the east or south of Ireland to get a bit more sun and dryer weather. So a road trip/ weekend away will be coming soon up.

You are welcome Denise 👋🏻
Happy Saturday morning ☀️🤗

Ha... You are standing too close to the UK! :) It grabbed your sun and ran. 💙

Happy Saturday! I hope you found some sunshine today!

Hahaha it sure did. Hasn’t stopped raining in a week.
We hope to go out this afternoon… let’s see if I find a dry area to walk.

Have a wonderful Sunday Denise 👋🏻😊☀️🌺

We'll never have a kind of store with so many variety of supplies for fishing here.
Went out early enough to get breakfast just for the Paylah cashback so I sort of paid 90 cents for breakfast only. 😉

You got out early!!! The early bird gets the worm!!! I thought you would never get to use Paylah again! Glad to see you did!

You don't think you will ever have a store with that kind of variety? Singapore already had big stores, don't they? Or maybe that is Hong Kong?

Wow! I wish we have fishing gears like this in our place. I have a very beautiful memory about fishing since my father used to go fishing as his past time before and I used to come with him. But his fishing materials are DIYs.

That is okay! I have used DIY too! I used a tree branch and a fishing line. It worked too, but they were little fish. How nice that you were able to go with your dad! What a great bonding experience!

I am fortunate to have family in the business, so it is inexpensive to be able to do it.

Isn't that store amazing? It truly is a huge place and they have everything!

It’s so cool you have six brothers. It probably was fun to grow up in a big family. I have three siblings, and it’s pretty cool.

I went fishing once, when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun but our parents were worried, I guess we were gone for whole day:-)

Here is my post https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@artmom/market-friday-dubai-mall-here-we-come-again

Yes! I have six brothers and two sisters. Growing up was fun and we were never bored or lonely. Of course, you never had any private space either. But, we didn't mind because we just didn't know that was a thing. LOL

Freshwater or salt? I bet it was fun either way! Yes, parents have a way of worrying about kids. :)

Yes we didn’t know about privacy either:-) It was fresh water tiny fish, that we later fed to our cat.

Haha! Funny, it never bothered us one bit.

On another note, what a lucky kitty! :)

Don't you know it!! Hope all is going well with the new job and the wife and you are all settled!

To buy something i also don't prefer online shopping because i want to see and touch them before buying, it's a great place to buying fishing rod.

Yes, i also have a love for flowers and my favorite is daisy.

Can we post something in market Friday community in other day's of week?

Always love for market Friday 😀

Daisies! They are gorgeous! Do you mean posting more than once a week? I am not sure what you mean.

Do you mean to post a #MarketFriday on Sunday or Tuesday?

Are you trying to ask if you can post two or three market posts a week or just a different day?

I'm asking about posting one Market post per week but on different day?

What a day it was for you, you really had a long day roaming to find a particular fish equipment you did like at a good price too, lol....

Great store there with lots of stuffs, looks like a one-top-shop for all your fishing needs,...

Don't know if that's a meat mincer machine I saw among the dehydrators kitchen wares....

Good one tho, I hope you had fun...

So here's a link to my own side of the story....

Do have a great Day.

It was a great shop! I like it here as it really is a one-stop shop! I can get almost anything that I want or need. Not only fishing but, camping and anything outdoors related, even grilling and cooking.

It was a meat mincer machine! Good eyes! And the dehydrator! Thanks so much for coming along! It is always fun to go to the sporting goods store!

Going to an outdoor/sports shop makes me feel giddy and excited. I remember I worked in a sports shop before and I was assigned in the fishing gears area but I have no idea. LOL I enjoyed the snorkeling and diving gears though.

Here is my entry for market Friday, doing online shopping: https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@itravelrox/market-friday-shopping-a-camera-bag-and-cleaning-toolkit-for-my-dslr-camera

That is so funny!~ You worked in the Fishing Gear?? I bet you learned a whole lot! I always thought they educate people before they put them in a department! :)

I guess many people who come into those types of places already know what they need!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link!

Haha I never learned in the fishing gear area. But mostly I need to look after the snorkeling gear and mask because a few people have stolen some expensive snorkeling masks before. XD When I was working in a sports shop, I wasn't even a sporty person.

Haha! That is funny! I think they still hire like that. :)

I never bought anything in the store when I was working until I got out of the job. The moment I started to like snorkeling and yoga, that was the time I went back to the store to see my former colleagues and ask for a discount. haha not bad!

I hope they gave you one! :) It never hurts to know people! ;)

Yes, they gave me a discount. It was fun to see them again when I had the time.

Fishing gear is not cheap.
I saw Gainesville and thought you were in Florida! I hope your son appreciates getting a custom-built rod. That is pretty fancy and something I had not heard of before!
Have a great weekend Denise.

I have been to Gainesville, Florida! Does that count!? My son has never had one customized for him, so I would say yes. He loves mine. We are both left-handed, so he has made good use of some of my things. It is pretty nice, Ed, I agree with you. I have had family in the business all my life, so the price is at cost. Best deal ever. It is a thing, but only because we can get it from family. Thanks for stopping by @tengolotodo

Oh I love Cabela's well actually any outdoor sports store and even the mom and pop bait shops. I'm fornate here we have a Cabela's along with a Bass Pro and a more local based one called Scheels. I always find it interesting visiting another towns outdoor shops. They are similar but different based on local needs. Seeing all the wildlife taxidermy and usually an aquarium that holds local fish is a favorite of mine also when visiting these places. I can spend hours visiting and I never leave them empty handed. My plan last week was to go fishing but it didn't happen. Hopefully this weekend it will happen. Thanks for the walk here at Cabela's I really enjoyed 🎣 😊

My submission for the week: https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@coolmidwestguy/gift-shop-at-the-durham-museum

I know, right?? What is not to love?? I love the mom-and-pop bait shops and who hasn't run through one in a lack-of-sandworm emergency? The Cabela's here in this area have Bass Pro and Cabela's combined. I guess that was better than two of those GIANT stores in the area. We have a few local stores also and I really enjoy those a lot. They don't compete with Cabela's, just different merchandise.

I didn't go fishing last weekend either. But, they did have the Chincoteague pony auction, wild ponies that are on an island, but, I didn't post pictures from it. It is a yearly thing I usually go to and while I was there (it is close to my other house on the shore) I got some mussels, clams and crabs. What sweet eats!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping the link! It is always appreciated! Hope your week was good!

I did an article on Bass Pro awhile ago I should do one on Scheels. It's a Midwest Chain in a few States here. It is huge like Cabela's.

Absolutely!! Its great to do that and then compare them if you want. Put any twist you want on it! Seems like a great idea.

Thank you. No matter how big these outdoor shops are the small local bait shops have the best bait, well around here anyways. Take care and have great weekend.

Darned straight!! You too!

On every shopping I do fact finding mission and in search of a quality product I wander from one store to another. Things are getting so much price these days.
This is my entry for #Marketfriday
https://ecency.com/hive-163772/@tahastories1/items-were-costly-or-visit

I think we have to do the fact-finding mission on things that we don't buy on a regular basis. We can no longer assume we are getting quality for our money. We don't even get quality when we overpay for some things!

Crazy, isn't it? The prices have gone up so much over the last couple of years. They are outpricing themselves and pretty soon. I have to wonder when it will all stop. Thank you for supporting the challenge!

Not just poor but elite class is also facing this inflation problem and belt of inflation is getting tight with each coming day.

Absolutely true!! I was going to use the same elite term, but didntvwant you to think I was a snob. Every day that belt cinches tighter. That is a perfect term!

I hope you are having a great day!

I enjoyed reading about your trip to Cabela's and your search for a fishing rod for your son's birthday. It sounds like you had a lot of fun exploring the store and seeing all the different types of fishing equipment.

I'm glad you decided to go with a custom-built rod. I think that's a great way to make sure he gets a rod that's perfect for him. And I'm sure he'll appreciate the gift certificate so he can pick out his own rod.

Thank you! It was fun and the possibilities are endless. :) It was a great time looking at all the different merchandise! Fishing is a great way to pass the time, and all of my brothers go at least once a week. Actually, they love eating what they catch and a nice family meal.

I did decide to go custom. One of the family does it for a living, but, he insists that we only pay the cost of the equipment, which is very little. It has some nice features that you don't get taking on off the shelf. I know he will appreciate it. He always loves when someone thinks of him!

Wow, I never see that many kinds of supplies for fishing equipment here in the Philippines. I never also experienced fishing with a fishing rod but I feel amused looking at it on television so hopefully I can get a chance to try one day.
By the way, I think this publication might belong here too, 🙃
