Weekend-engagement topic week 29: Talkin' toys

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago (edited)

Hands up who hates toys! I hope nobody puts there hand up right now, that would just be sad. Toys are awesome and you don't need to be a child to want them. Of course there's different toys for people of different ages: Baby toys, teenagers toys and yes, adults have toys also, some adult toys even need batteries too...But that's a different (18+) post altogether.

It's Christmas day and people around the world are probably giving and receiving gifts, or have already and will be soon depending on where in the world they are, and many of them will be toys. So I thought I'd do a toy-themed #weekend-engagement topic.

Weekend-engagement topic week 29

It's really simple...Just comment below 👇 and answer one, or both, of the questions from up there 👆 and explain your answer briefly. You can use pictures if you like as it draws more attention to your entry. If you do the second question you may like to tag the user.

Keep in mind toys can be anything...My guns? Toys. My four wheel drive? Toys...It doesn't matter what it is...If you play with it and enjoy it than anything is a toy I guess.

The topic will remain open all weekend so you have until very late Sunday night your time to get your comment placed below.

As always I'll be handing out some hive on Monday, 70 hive or so, as a thank you to some of you who engage here - It will be transferred directly to your wallets. I will be looking out for people that stayed around and did some engagement with the others rather than those who drop a single comment and then leave.

Whilst on the topic of toys...New toy community

You may know that there's a new toy-related Community here on the blockchain conceived by @livinguktaiwan. You can see it here but don't go yet! I want to let you know about a little competition being held over there, a competition all about toys and in which you can win some prizes.

Here's the link to the competition post if you want to take a look who knows, you may win some hive here at the #weekend-engagement topic and on the toys competition also!

So, that's it y'all, it's all about toys this week, both here and in the Toys on Hive Community as well. So, tap into your creative side and join in to have some fun!

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - Tomorrow isn't promised.

Be well

Well, I think I got every kind of toy I wanted as a child because I had a lot of building blocks and similar toys, so there's nothing in that regard I missed. However, there's something I have always wanted. I don't know if it qualifies as toy, but sleeping is fun or using a surface to do other stuff, like reading and listening to music and getting kinky, and it is this:

Source

If you know pokemon, you know Snorlax. And if you are more than 20 you would love to be Snorlax as this pokemon basically exists to eat and sleep. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a dream in a nutshell. I started to see this kind of huge bean bag a long time ago and always wanted one. I remember seeing one in a store in Caracas, but we were passing by so I couldn't even ask for price. So this is the toy I want.

About giving, I like to give away one of the toys I make now. I consider musical instruments one of the best kind of toys there is. I remember the feeling of getting into a store. It is like Christmas, but better! So, my idea is doing a giveaway of a cuatro once I get things settled. You know, having a workshop and all the toys to work and make them in a regular basis. So, who would be the winner? I don't know. Let's say it will be decided when I get to make and sell 30 cuatros.

I was too old to get into Pokemon's and don't understand it all any better these days; I guess the byproduct from not having any kids. However * know what been bags are* and this one looks pretty comfortable! Certainly a good place for reading, listening to music and, of course, getting kinky on. 😀

It's a cool idea of yours to give away a cuatro at some stage...Of course, you'd probably have to give some lessons on how to play it too...But it would be a good gift indeed...A hand made cuatro!

!ENGAGE 25

Well, don't worry I don't get pokemon nowadays either. It stopped to make sense after Gen5 for me. But this was always a nice thing to see.

Yup, just need to get on with the crafting. I think I won't need to be teaching anything. There are already so many great musicians teaching how how to play this instrument and more access to information to people around the world. 😄

I know of adults who play Pokemon...They started that Pokemon geocaching thing a while back...Never made sense to me why adults would get involved...But they did. Seemed a bit mindless to me. It takes all kinds of people to make up the world though, even adults who go about catching pretend cartoon characters on their phone.

Well, the whole idea of Pokemon is basically Cock Fighting made into a RPG with Rock, Paper, Scissor elements. It has a lot of breeding complexity and international tournaments. But I get your point. It needs to have and appeal in order to be interesting. I liked what I know about it from my childhood. And well, I like the merchandise too.

To each their own I suppose. I don't hate it, I'm just not interested in it although I know many are.

Yup. As they say "be and let be".

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I guess I want this even now! Looks quite comfortable! :)

Ha, ha, ha. It is impossible not to see it and let the thought slip your mind!

A love Pokeman. My kids would play with the Pokeman Cards and figures. I still haven't completely figured out how you are to play because my kids made up their own rules so I was always in a state of confusion.

What a nice thought to give away a toy that is a musical instrument. It may create an interest in music for that child. One never knows.

The Pokemon TCG is a complex realm and getting into figure games is another realm of existence. All this delimited by rule making, I can see how it becomes difficult to play around those kind of scenarios. But I bet it must be fun to watch.

Well, the idea is to give away a musical instrument. I consider them "toys" as the action of making them sound is playing with them. But it would be a nice gift for someone with a kid who's interested in music.

I don't know from shinola about pokemon but I do know comfort and ease so I get the bean bag completely!

Wasn't Pokemon the game that started in Hawaii that spread to California. You got the game pieces from milk/juice bottles?

I'd love to see you get to your goal really soon...

I don't know shinola about the other game you're mentioning, but it sounds interesting. Pokemon was invented by Nintendo, so it is Japanese. But maybe it had some collectible thing going on like what you just said.

Bean bags are amazing. I feel bad not having one in any shape at home. But maybe if I ever get my own place, I will have one.

And well, I hope that, too. Right now it looks like a steep hill, but I know that doing some zig-zag and keeping my steps firm I can get to the place I need.

Hello that nice toy, very versatile would let you sleep on it, eat, read, study and do perverted things as you say. 😜😄😈

If you dream it with strength and emotion you will surely have your poquemon.

What a nice way to make a living, hopefully you can give that gift. A Venezuelan friend hug from another Venezuelan. @bertrayo

Ha, ha, ha. Well, it is a matter of money. I can't will something into existence like that, but I get the idea.

I hope it can be done. Hug received and bigger one sent. Charged with Venezuelan joy! Greetings, @soyunasantacruz

That's a good one. The closest I got to this was an air mattress and a puff. Both pretty bad products. The air matress was a matress up to about midnight. After that you felt youwere sleeping on the floor. The puff did not last long either. The tiny balls that made the filling started to pop out of it after a few weeks (it was a mess).

Those things suck. I have slept in air mattresses enough to know they all tend to puff after some time. It isn't good. I have a puff in my room and I used it to pile stuff. Sitting on the thing is just wanting to reach the floor.

The air matress was a matress up to about midnight.

Yeah. And always on the FIRST night of camping, not the last :)

I think we are all kids at heart, and toys are what really makes the world go round.I like my computer, I think it is one of the best toys ever invented. I get to see so many different places in the world through it.

Dream toy that does not exist as far as I know would be a wall sized puzzle. I imagine a smooth flat thin metal wall with a frame around it and then a puzzle with pieces the size of a 5000 count puzzle that would fill a full wall.

My wall that I would like to puzzlefize has two windows, so of course this would mean some left over pieces, so they would go on a windowless wall in frames. They would have to be magnetic puzzle pieces, and this would make putting the puzzle together a real challenge.

Talk about dreaming big! A wall-sized puzzle...It sounds like a legit idea although I'd imagine it to be displayed in some art gallery somewhere maybe, not in the suburbs. Nice imagination and I hope someday it becomes a reality however...A wall of magnets...You'd not want to be wearing a metal belt buckle or you could find yourself flying across the room buckle first and then slamming buckle first into the wall. That could be problematic.

!ENGAGE 25

Yeah, I didn't think of the magnetic attraction issue to well, but those little strip magnets are not that strong. I suppose the very last puzzle piece would be opposite polarity of all the other pieces and just simply refuse to stay in place.

Lol, all that work and then that last piece just refuses to cooperate...That last piece is 2020! 😂

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That would be quite a puzzle indeed. Years worth for me...

When I was a kid my folks used to have a puzzle going on a coffee table in the winter. At the extended care where my mom ended her days they had a sitting room that always had a puzzle going. Mom and I would sit there for an hour or two each day...

I liked puzzles but with a cat and no real puzzle table it is rather problematic to try and do a puzzle any more for me, but I did enjoy them as a kid and pre pet stage of life.

Well, I'm just certain that my mother never had a cat in her house. A couple of dogs, but 0 cats. So never a problem.

My first inlaws were bigtime puzzle people and had a cat. It seems it was never a problem with the puzzle, maybe a little cat sensitivity training? I honestly don't know, but don't remember the cat being a problem..

Wow, a wall sized 5K puzzle. Count me in. I love puzzles. The more difficult, the better, especially with lots of water the same color. Drives me bananas putting them together. As a teen, I would sit and finish a 1K in two days.

Thanks for sharing. I still have Niagra Falls 2500-piece in the box. Gosh darnit, Life gets in the way.

As a kid I always wanted a Sega. I was a massive sonic the hedge hog fan. Sonic 2 was awesome because you could also play as 2 players. My uncle had one and when we'd visit I'd always play as tails. I always dreamt of playing as Sonic.

The other toy I always wanted was the science kit. I've always been fascinated by science. Started off with biology at school. Took up bonsai as a hobby and I've always been into physics.

If I could, I'd probably go back and study physics. But it's not an industry that has many jobs attached to it.

I grew up in a poor family so didn't get any of it.

I've managed to turn my life around and my kids are privileged. My daughter gets what she wants and I constantly frown at the amount of lego and toys I stand on.

We're not rich, but we're not going without.

I vaguely recall the Sega, it's like Nintendo right? Sega Gameboy? I was never my into game consoles, I guess because they weren't much of a thing when I was a kid. I understand wanting one though.

The other thing, the science kit...I had a second hand one with most of the stuff still in it. I had fun with that although it certainly didn't help my school grades. I was average at best!

I'm pleased to hear you're able to provide the things for your kids that you couldn't have. Good effort.

Thanks for joining in

!ENGAGE 25

Any time, I've sat here thinking what else I wanted as a kid but I can't recall anything else.

Yea Sega was like Nintendo. I want a PS5 but the last one I bought was a PS3. As mentioned before I have kids so no time. Plus work. I find mobile gaming easier to access and use and just as fun.

I think I'll be buying a Wii next though. Would be fun with the kids and fam.

I didn't have loads of stuff as a kid, but had enough, and made up the rest with my imagination or hands. Like you my childhood was not full of loads of things and what I had was often second hand as my parents didn't have the funds to buy new. I had what I needed though, and made the rest up with my hands or imagination.

I remember playing an Atari 2600 and thinking it was the coolest thing. Our friends had it. Did I want one? Yeah of course. Didn't get it now and it never affected me adversely.

I've heard those Wii things are fun. Good things for the family to do together.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Wo0t wo0t thank you

I remember getting a Chemistry set. What adventures that set off.

I did take physics in High School. I'm glad for the knowledge and still fascinated but have no regrets about not being a physiciast :)

I predate the game counsels by quite a long way. But I certainly understand wanting one....

When I was younger I did remember lose the emotion about Christmas and toys

Aww you are very sweet for giving your kids everything they want.

Thank you, I am always thinking of those less fortunate

Merry Christmas, it is wonderful that you can provide a better more relaxed life for your children.

Thank you, it is a good feeling. I am concious of the people who can't though.

First of all Merry Christmas G.!!! May you rock as usual in the upcoming years as you did until now!

I always always wanted to receive a giant teddy bear. Maybe someday...Why I want it? Because at night it can be a great human pillow if you're down and lonely in that time. And I also want it because I never received one until now and I think that it would be a great gesture. And I also want it because I am such a kid inside.

s-l400.jpg

Wowser. Now that's a giant Teddy Bear! I certainly understand the want.

Syd and I took my youngest step daughter to the fair one time (Her sister was old enough to go with friends and didn't have to hang out with us) and she was a pretty good sport while we went to 'our stuff'. We finished the night with rides for her, and we watched (often in horror). The midway was right there so as we were wandering out there was a booth that had BIG white bears. She wanted one so I gave it a shot (it was a throwing game, a thing I am quite good at). For $1.00 I got a bear bigger than her. She still has the thing, at least 30 years later.

I hope you get your bear, and I thank you for the memory.

Oh wow such a lovely story! She kept it for so many years... Beautiful!

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful Christmas!

Haha, well I think you're not alone in wanting one of these...Although I think you'd need to have a huge bed to fit one this big! 🤣

!ENGAGE 25

I would love the big bed aaandd the teddy. But a big bed.. Yeah😍😍

Need entry of space to spread out huh?

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Hello Merry Christmas! Girls and boys always want a teddy bear.

I had one when I was 8 years old and then I got another one from my father when I was 20 years old. I still have it.

But I do not sleep with it, is stored in a close.

The one in the picture is beautiful but a little big 🤣😂 @creativemary

Merry Christmas! Yes, this is quite a giant teddy hihi

Hahahahaha god I want the same, lol. My inner kid

Haha yeah I know how that feels. I am happy that I am not the only one

Now that is one huge teddy bear. Merry Christmas.

Haha yes it is. Merry Christmas to you too!

Yes @creativemary this is a better present all the other presents were so for the boys, I bought a 1 meter teddybear for the boys when they were born love them

Now that's a giant terry bear. You could get lost in it. They provide so much comfort for whatever ails you and can make you feel better.

I would like to give a talking bear for bedtime to the granddaughter of @justclickindiva or buy it for myself as a christ,as present for my nephew born 8 weeks ago as a Christmaspresent

Hello. Thank you so much for thinking of my granddaughter this Christmas. She loves large cuddly bears to accompany her to bed. She even sleeps on top of it. She leaves it at our home, but as soon as she comes through the door, she goes straight to her room and gets it. She then pulls out her laptop and uses the bear to lie on while she's playing Roblux.

However, it doesn't talk. I'd love one that does and records her voice too, so she it can answer her when she's explaining how she ages up her pets and builds houses and hatches eggs. After a couple hours, I'm in a daze. However, I'll be able to rewind it and listen to it again.

Hope that's not a lot to ask for, lol.

I think it would be a perfect gift for your nephew also.

I purchased a PINK 36" Teddy Bear for my great niece born two weeks ago. Again, it doesn't talk. But it's cuddly and pretty in pink ribbon.

They have so many cute talking ones and indeed they have a record button

I'm just guessing a 'two way' talking bear would just plain be a lot of fun, particularly in years to come...

Here's to you in the New Year. Hope all goes better than expected in 2021:

A talking bear, like Ted from the movies? Although, I guess he might be a bit much for an eight year old.

Thanks for joining in this week.

When I was younger my mother did everything for us, she gave me toys every Christmas I can still remember that From Nintendo to Bike, Dolls with accessories. But I do remember I never asked for it, of course I was very happy with my toys and very grateful, but she never taught us to ask for toys or anything, my brother did (he is 4 years older than me)... Well some day my mother didn't decorated our house I remember that Christmas day I asked her: no Christmas presents? She said no and my answer was that's okay mom, I'm not sad. Then she said I guess you've grown up! I was twelve and since that day I don't celebrate Christmas and I don't care if we don't celebrate Christmas, I realized my mom did those things for us and all by herself she was single and poor, we were a poor family but she managed somehow! And well we just love Christmas food hahahaha. Well after all that sometimes I decorate and sometimes I don't and I don't care, I like how beautiful it looks but the important thing for me has always been that we are alive and not the celebration!

Now answering the first question, lol. Kind of the same of @creativemary A giant 🧸 for the same reasons lol, I had teddy bears, but small sizes, but I think I can't have what I want because I'm gonna be moving constantly so I can't bring a giant teddy bear everywhere, lol.

Screenshot_1 (2).jpg

What a beautiful picture, you look so @josehany

I also put a picture of my teddy bear, I updated my comment jejej but I don't appear because my bear is in another house and my brother did me the favor of taking the picture.

You know, we have that in common, when I was a kid my mom used to decorate the house, then as a teenager she delegated that job to me, and Christmas stopped being fun to be a time of work and excessive cleaning.

Then I would put up the Christmas decorations for my brothers, when they grew up I stopped doing it, there are Christmases that provoke me and I put them up, not like this year.

And I don't feel bad about that, it just didn't provoke me, I enjoy Christmas eating typical dishes and being with my family.

Haha thanks that is an old pic!

Because Christmas I believe is very commercial! I just do the things that I like and when I want to 🤭🤭 but being alive and healthy is more important than any celebration

Another giant teddy bear huh? Well, you'll have to buy two seat on the plane when you fly if you get one that is too big so, maybe a medium sized one?

Just on your first paragraph...We don't usually do much for Christmas. we are not religious people and so we have some nice food, something special or that we wouldn't normally have maybe, have a few more snacks around the house than usual and sometimes put a Christmas tree up. We went to a little more effort this year as my mother in-law is very sick so we want to create some memories, have some fun, but normally we don't make a big deal out of it. The event is so commercialised these days that I find it difficult to get very excited about it. We don't have kids either, so that makes a difference.

Anyway, thanks for joining in this week.

!ENGAGE 25

Exactly too much commercial, I used to be a religious but I had bad experiences in the church that made me abandon religion, now the only thing I think is that you have to do good. For now I am single and I have no thoughts of having children, I had thought about it but if I take it to reality it is not very realistic of me, but if I do have they will be very well educated about these commercial festivities, I enjoy the decoration for the beauty and the food but it is not my tradition

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Another Teddy Bear. That's a pretty cool choice.

I had a bear that I remember. Smokey. He had a square metal buckle on his belt and khaki trousers. He was pretty scruffy when I remember him, I may have leaned on him pretty hard earlier...

Hello @galenkp happy weekend and Merry Christmas! 🤗😘

I had all the toys I could ever want, my parents were very poor children who did not have toys and since I was their first child they did everything they could to give me what they did not have.

We had other needs, but at Christmas I always had what I wanted. My last toy as a child Jesus as they say in my country, to the Christmas gift was the family "heart"

descarga.jpeg

It was the family of the barbie doll with her husband Ken and their children. From this doll I had everything, her house and even the barbie animals, her horses, everything and that has been expensive.

I burned my toy stage very well, at the age of 11 I gave them all away and left nothing behind.

Then at the age of 20 my father gave me a teddy bear that I still keep. afternoon if I can update the commentary I will be able to take a picture of the teddy bear.

My oldest sister (7 years younger than me) had Barbies! My Dad built a house for her and my mom taught my sister to sew making clothes. After my sister left home and her Barbies my mom stored them in a trunk.

One day we had a woman Mexican labor contractor come to bid a job for us. She brought her 9yo daughter since it was just a bid. Mom was captivated with the girl and gave her my sister's Barbie collection. The girl was out of her mind with gratitude.

That woman's labor crew did all our piece work from then on. Mom told the woman to bring her daughter when the crew worked and mom taught her to cook Angelo.

Oh, how lucky for that girl and her family.

I can imagine the joy of that girl.

In my day, girls dreamed of having a toy family and preparing for their adult family.

I think I played with that a lot, that I lost the desire to have my own family as an adult because of all the work.

Time passed and now I am looking for my Ken doll in flesh and blood. 😬 😬 But don't be afraid @bigtom13 I'm not inviting you to be part of mine.

Jejejejej 😂 🤣

She and her mother were so happy it was almost unreal. They used to stop in from time to time just to have a cup of coffee with my mother. It was pretty special.

I have no doubt you'll find your Ken.

What a beautiful thank you, I settled for a rag doll but full of good feelings.

@galenkp should make a weekend commitment to find me a boyfriend.

I have not been able to do it alone and I have been trying for 10 years. 😬😄😭😄😭😄😭😄

I had Barbies too and everything that I wanted it I guess and my mother was poor too. Parents love us so much that they do everything for our happiness

Barbies were the prototype of dolls that stood out for their beauty, like beauty queens.

Christmas is the date where parents gather all their efforts to express in a material way the love for their children.

And you save some of your barbies? @josehany My brother destroyed them, cut their hair and dyed them

My mom still has my Barbies. Oh girl, that brother.... 👀😬🥴

😂🤣🤣😜🤗

Barbie dolls used to be very popular here with the girls but I'm not sure if that's still the case? Maybe I'm out of the loop as I don't have kids but I don't think they are a popular. I guess a kid is more inclined to want a smart phone these days right? 🤣

It's nice hat you handed your toys on when you were done to let someone else enjoy them. Most of my toys were second hand so that's how I got them, from other people's generosity.

!ENGAGE 25

Hello @galenkp and thank you.

If today's kids want technology and virtual games.

Thinking about it, I have seen very few children with traditional toys and today December 25th for me hehehe there is no child on the street showing his toys.

I already have my teddy bear, the last toy my father gave me when I was 20 years old 😜 brought it to me from China, when he went to a job.

IMG20201225WA0025.jpg

You make a good point and we were only commenting yesterday that there were no kids out playing with stuff...All inside on their video games and smartphones I guess.

I remember those Hard Rock Cafe bears...I've only been to the Hard Rock in Melbourne which is where I saw it. That was years ago, back in 2004. I don't know if they are even still open are they?

Umm I don't know either. 🤔🤭. The one who entered those cafes was my dad years ago.

That bear is Chinese and rests in a closet to Venezuela 😜🤣 @galenkp

A HardRock Bear! Finest kind. I've only been to the ones in Las Vegas but I think the bear is pretty universal.

It's a good gift, I'm really glad you still have it!

If it is beautiful, that bear will pass on to the next generations, if I have children they will be theirs, if not my nephews.

I imagine that a coffee in that place must have been expensive, but you gave yourself a taste like few others @bigtom13

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Yes Barbie I love the Barbies I had so many growing up ! I think my mum still has them

Hehehe the doll of all generations.

Beautiful truth!

For my online toy gift, I would like to give @carmenm20 her daughter a talking doll that's almost life like. She mentioned that her daugher has admired one, but funds are not available to purchase it right now. Every little girl should have doll if they want one.

Thank you very much @justclickindiva beautiful gift for my daughter. She adores dolls, they are her favorite toys. With a doll she would be very happy, she has dolls not with such real characteristics, if she had one like that, her joy would be immense. You are so kind to me for that beautiful online gift.

The dolls seem cute to me, but it is not something that amuses me. For ME the ideal gift would be a kitchen with all the accessories that a pastry maker needs. With that I would have fun playing a lot.

One day soon, your ideal dream of a kitchen will materialize. Keep hope alive and keep working hard on Hive. When others see how hard you work, assistance will not be far behind.

I need a pair of brand spanking new knees, free of arthritis. I'm not picky, but a female pair would be better than a male. Just saying if anyone so desires to send me a pair.

So shall. Thank you for helping me with your enthusiasm and positive words to continue at Hive.

You are welcome. We must continue and never give in or give up when we feel like it. That is your inner strength you don't know you have until it's called to action.

Take care. Things will work out for you.

You remember the old John Prine song? Please Don't Bury Me? He sang "Give my Knees to the needy..."

Just sayin. If we could get a package deal I could use the hips more, I think...

lol. Yes, a package deal would be great. But what are hips without something to prop them up :)

Yes, at our age, we could use a whole repackaging. Thanks for stopping by. Always you bring a smile to my face. Have a good week ahead.

Yep. Every little girl ought to have a 'Dothee'. You can use your imagination where I got that word from, but the same small person liked to feed 'dups'.

lol. Stop it. You are too much. Definitely have brightened my day today. Thanks.

A nice gift and probably a very worthy recipient too! Nice work!

Thanks for stopping by this week and getting involved.

Thank you for your support. It was good for me to participate to lift my spirits this week and think pleasant thoughts.

I know you've had some tough times and all so I'm just pleased you stopped by and glad it lifted your spirits. Hive does the same for me sometimes, when I need it. :)

Best wishes diva.

Merry Christmas, I hope you had an excellent Christmas Eve dinner together with your loved ones. My mother used to offer us a doll, about 2 meters tall, that we always saw in television commercials. And our dream never came true. At present I do not offer anything to my grandchildren that I cannot give them but would like to give them everything they see. Unfortunately I have not been able to fulfill that dream due to lack of money. On one occasion I had a Sega Genesis that I bought with my work, it was for my children, but I woke up playing on the console, I even beat my children at games. And what toy would you give someone in Hive? A stuffed animal. Stuffed animals are the quintessential gift for friends and they last over time.

You remind me of my friends who have children, I always ask them, did you buy the toy for yourself or for your child?

jajajajajajaja good point @josehany

I think most parents want to give their kids what they want, especially if they, themselves, have not had a lot.

I don't have kids by I think I would be a little different. Sure, I'd want to give my kids things, but I'd also want to teach them the value of items and respect for the money that buys them...More accurately the effort that goes into earning the money and the importance of understanding how money works in one's life. I think I would do that well considering my own experiences as a kid in a family where money was not in abundance.

I think it's cool that you kicked your kids butts at Sega...Show them who's boss right? 😂

Thanks for joining in this week.

I agree. I wonder if there is such a thing as a stuffed bee? That would be darn near perfect, wouldn't it?

Thanks for agreeing with me. Stuffed animals are beautiful. The teddy bear displayed by @creativemary is huge. If you give it to me, I will receive it with pleasure.

In the very early 80s all I wanted for Christmas was a Play-Doh hair salon toy. They must have been running ads for it on TV, because I was totally taken with how you could make the figure's playdough hair grow and then cut or shape it into crazy styles.

I was so excited to find one under the tree on Christmas morning! Unfortunately when we opened the box the plastic salon chair was broken and couldn't be used. My parents took it back to the toy shop the following week to exchange, but because the toy had been so popular there was no stock left. I can't remember what toy they ended up exchanging it for :-(

Fast forward 30 years. I'd never forgotten how much I'd wanted that toy, so I bought my son one for his second Christmas. He loved Play-Doh and we had hours of fun with that set.

Oh no, the toy you always wanted needed to be exchanged with something else due to lack of stock? Bugger!

I remember these things but it wasn't something I ever wanted. I just asked my wife if she had one and she said yes...She turned out to be a hairdresser so maybe it was all due to Play Doh mind-control!

Thanks for joining in this week, I think your first time? And a fellow Aussie too by the look of it. 😀

!ENGAGE 25

Yes, a fellow Aussie - up in Queensland :-)

Ah cool, I'm in Adelaide. I have a brother and his family up north, FNQ, and used to live there for a bit myself. Nice part of the world. I hope things are well up there, and you're having a great festive season and the new year starts well.

Oh how sad to know that the gift of your dreams arrived damaged, your parents must have felt even sadder for wanting to give you joy and not receiving it.

But best of all was the end of your story, being able to give your child that special gift and play with it must have brought you great emotions.

Life sometimes takes us on such strange paths but they have a reason to be. @sammie

It's funny, but I think if I had ended up with one as a child I probably would have mostly forgotten about it by the time my son was into play-doh. Playing with it as an adult and watching his joy as he giggled over the funny hair-dos was priceless :-)

Play Doh Salon? What a deal! It really sucks that you had one and it got away but really is cool that you bought one for your son! Talk about closing the circle!

Yes, and being a toy that can be played with together it brought so much fun. This has reminded me about all the play-doh toys packed away in the cupboard now that he's "too old for that stuff" 🙄. It might be time to pass it on to another family with little kids.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I want to read the hunting experience of Australian hunter @galenkp in a book.

I want to know why he hunted for the first time and why he has been hunting until now.
What animals has he been hunting so far?
In particular, I am curious about the feelings he feels while hunting. How does he feel when he sees the animals he hunts? Is it thrill or compassion?😲

You seem fascinated with my shooting experiences. I'm afraid I don't talk about the things you ask about much, not on the blockchain anyway. Let's just say, I've shot a lot of stuff and how I feel about doing so is something I'd not be able to convey well in the written word, and leave it at that huh?

Dear @galenkp, I hope the blessings of Jesus come upon you.
I want to know how you feel the death of life while hunting. All living things are born and destined to die. I want to know how you feel while watching a fallen and dying creature. Is wild animal death similar to human death? Or is it different?

I wish you are not unpleasant by my straightforward English expressions!

Hi, you just asked some interesting questions, you're also curious on the subject but I think that in the publication of the day after Christmas I would not want to read anything related to slaughter and death.

Whether it is in a sporting or recreational way, I apologize if I was intrusive.

This topic would be good to develop in another weekend. Merry Christmas @goldgrifin007

Dear señora @soyunasantacruz, How do you do! I'm currently studying English, so I think I'm asking questions that are not polite. 😄
I wish you understand that my English is awkward. Merry christmas!

Hehehe I am very well thanks, I did not receive any Christmas gifts, maybe I behaved badly this year that Santa Claus did not bring me anything.

And your English must be better than mine, I speak Spanish and I only use a translator 😄

Merry Christmas @goldgrifin007

And your English must be better than mine, I speak Spanish and I only use a translator

señora, my English level is similar to yours. I also use English Dictionary and Google Translator.😄

I hope that the current economic crisis in Venezuela will improve quickly.
Thank you!

Persistent huh?

I think@bigtom13 answers this question pretty well so there's no point in elaborating further.

In respect of your desire to find out what it's like to kill an animal or a human I'd suggest the only way you'll learn what that is like is by doing it yourself. What I mean here is that for each person the action will have a different feel and ramification. One will only truly know by doing it for oneself.

I'd say that this comment, and @bigtom13's, are sufficient to satisfy your curiosity in respect of this matter, don't you? Of course, feel free to do a post about your feelings if you do indeed slay an animal or human.

Thanks also for the additional comments by @dandays.

Dear @galenkp, Didn't my awkward English make your misunderstanding?
I'm not asking about killing a human, but about the feelings and experiences you feel when you hunt.
I was curious about your feelings and experiences after hunting. And, I was curious about the difference between wild animals and human death.
I won't ask any more questions if you were unpleasant by my question.

I agree with you! Since @bigtom13 is my father's generation, I think he gave a great answer to my question.

It doesn't make me uncomfortable, it's just not something I want to elaborate on here on the blockchain. Maybe if you buy me a plate of mandoo and some beers we can talk about it in person someday?

Dear @galenkp, I know your kindness and generosity. By the way, my English is still lacking a lot, so it's hard to understand your profound and wonderful nuances.
If you wait for me to develop further, I will be grateful.

By the way, do you like mandoo, a Chinese dish?😳 Chinese dish is also popular in Australia?
If I can meet you, I will be able to serve Korean-style steak Bulgogi and Korean-style alcoholic drink soju. The Japanese are especially very fond of Korean soju.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulgogi

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soju

I don't hunt anymore, so I'll take a little swing at this. I certainly understand @galenkp 's reluctance. I haven't hunted in 30 years and I'm still reluctant to put it in public.

Hunting to me is an art and a science and feeding myself all rolled into one. I loved the being out in the wild and stalking the game. I never wasted meat, I always ate what I killed.

I don't know that there was ever any particular thrill in a successful hunt. Proud certainly but not particularly thrilled. It was, after all, what I'd set out to do.

Compassion? Not so much. Respect is more like it.

Wise Senior of Oregon @bigtom13, Merry christmas!
In the Genesis of the Bible, it is said that the LORD made skins clothes for Adam and Eve.
As I read the sentence, I thought that all humans were destined to kill wild animals in order to survive.
You and I both have to kill other creatures to live. Although I don't hunt, I eat the meat of other animals. So, I don't blame the hunt.

I was curious about how the death of wild animals differs from the death of humans.

I think hunting is an essential action for human survival. So, I agree with your argument.
Thank you!

I've seen you ask more than once now about the resemblance between a dying animal and a dying human and I don't know how to say this without just saying it.

That's the weirdest shit I've ever noticed someone repeating

Merry Christmas!

Dear @dandays,
I can't speak English well.
Still, @bigtom13's wise answer is understandable.

Thank you!

Gratitude maybe, greetings and merry Christmas @bigtom13

Merry Christmas!

Gratitude would be a good word too. Buddha said "Venerate the Ox. He gives his life for you." That is how I feel, every time I eat.

I hope your day goes well.

img_4711.gif

Hi @galenkp ! I wanted to upload what I want as a gif. I couldn’t add gif before. I hope I will be successful now.

The only thing I want to have since my childhood is scooter! When I was little we didn’t have the situation to buy this. Then our financial situation improved but I grew up. But even now all I want is a scooter. My ex boss had a scooter. Of course I was taking the opportunity at lunch breaks! 😊

Maybe my husband will buy me an electric scooter?

Merry Christmas to you too, I hope you're having a nice day.

You know, I rode one of these once, I must have been 35 or so. I crashed...Didn't end well. I'm not going to take all the blame for it though, I'd had a couple of beers. 🤣

I hope you get your scooter one day...Don't drink and scoot though, trust me.

!ENGAGE 25

Ahahahahaha! Hold my beer and watch this!

Been there, done that got the stitches.

Lol...The old, hold my beer line rarely ends well.

Ha, ha, ha. I totally see you both going crazy, starting with the phrase hold my beer and watch this! And then I see you ending on the floor laughing after some sloppy display of skills 😂

Ahahahahaha. First guy to say 'Hold my beer and watch this' has a small chance of success. The second one has 0 chance :)

I've done my math and it looks like this is the way 🤣

Did you fall? Actually a very safe tool. :p

Sort of went over the top and landed on my face. It was ok though, it was messed up already so probably the best part of my body to catch my fall. No damage was done as it was already in bad shape. My face I mean. 🥴

An electric scooter would be so cool! There's a young bloke around here who rides a really nice one, it's mostly black but has a lovely polished wood deck with inset red highlights. He whizzes around on it and you see him speeding up and down the hills between here and the CBD. I've often wondered if one would be a good option for traveling the 5km into work - faster than walking, and then just plug it in to charge once in the office.

I think an electric scooter would be a way better option than walking to work. I think that would be just about the best way there is to go 5km twice a day...

Yes! There's talk of them putting the electric hire scooters in our CBD. They've had them in Brisbane for a while now, although it hasn't been without its issues - speeding riders, dumped scooters, lost helmets and so forth. If they do go ahead with them here I'll definitely be giving one a try and assessing it as a future work transport option :)

Ha, we made our own scooters, a plank "V'd" at both ends with a bolt passing through a car's ball bearing in the v. Then another verticle plank and a broomstick over the top for a handle.
Unfortunately the handle couldn't turn and the scooter could only go in in a straight line.
I remember my accident with my scooter and the double hiding I got for tearing my school short pants and for cutting off a piece of my mom's broom handle 🤣

Oh, no! Not mom's broom handle! I think I always knew that was off limits...

Not that I didn't get plenty of 'hiding' for other offenses real or imagined, but I don't think mom ever lost a broom or mop handle..

Yep! Holy territory around that broom Sir Tom. I think that she was riding that broom at night and the missing piece would have been like a flat on a car 🤣

One day I must tell you what happened when I tried to find the the little guy that rang the two bells on her prized alarm clock.
Of course I stripped the clock, but I didn't find the guy and that poor clock never worked again.

Christmas wishes to you and Sam my friend!

Just one. Please tell me you have a picture of that custom build @papillioncharity.

Nah! That was 50+ years ago my friend and we had no cameras those days 🤣

I'll gladly take that visual you painted then. I would've been about -6. You mighta had the ultimate prototype right there 50 years ago.

Hahaha, yes it could go like the clappers with those steel wheels, especially down the off ramp of the old Victoria bridge. That same bridge cost me many skins, as like any other invention there were some "teething" problems.

Going at top speed with no brakes presented some "problems" and the steel ball racers were slippery as hell on the tarred roads.
I leave the rest to your imagination, which should include coming to an abrupt halt at full speed against a curb and landing ass over kettle in someone's garden!

I guess everybody but me has a crash adventure with a scooter! :D

Hahaha, well should I say "knock on wood" here?
Count yourself lucky my friend.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I hope you get your scooter, I hope you get it this year. There are just tons of really cool electric scooters out there!

My friend Ray bought a gas powered scooter (it came in a car trade) and he rode the thing quite a little. One Sunday he took it to the local store to buy the Sunday paper. My Mom passed him just as he was turning onto this street where he lived. He waved and dove into the corner. He was standing on the paper and his feet skidded out and he lit on his butt. My mom laughed and laughed about that... After she made sure he was OK.

Lets get this toy...

Head on down to the Aussie G-Dogs side of the planet and see what kind of carnage is in store.

We would be layin on our asses so quick with stitches and bruises... LOL

I think this Kraken would be a little more in our "Wheel House," as all 3 of us are 2 wheel enthusiasts!

hqdefault.jpg

What a kewl video of this awesome strong kraken bike.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D17Bwfd2dLw

Deranged Visions @derangedvisions has a One Wheel. He liked it so much he bought a pint for his wife. He's got several cool videos on his one wheel.

And that is the kind of bike I could get behind! "A little help here, brother?" on the pedaling part. I like it!

I hope! I really want this. :)

I know everybody will be surprised but I have a genuine mad man for a friend. Actually there are more than one. This particular one, Danny rode his motorcycle here from Long Island, New York. We did some basic maintenance on it and he headed south. Ended up riding all the way to Belize. The really weird part is he left here with a rzr scooter lashed on top of his load. On his way home he gave it to a kid in Mexico...

image.png

This is a picture of Danny demonstrating his scooter to the assembled multitude at an event called 'Christmas Stalking'. We eat lunch at a remote place in SoCal and pitch in a few dollars for childrens charity. He was in Mexico to start that part of his adventure before the sun went down.

Hello the gif I see look great, this is a fun toy hopefully your husband will give it to you.

If it does not give you that pleasure, buy it yourself regardless of whether the Christmas passed, just buy it and enjoy it do not let life happen to you without having that toy.

😜 Merry Christmas @ssygmr

Thank you! Merry Christmas! I hope I can get one. :)

I love your gif, I did have an scooter and an accident on it too, lol. I hope you can have yours ;)

I am glad you like it. Thank you! :)

How friggin cool is this.!!

A scooter with a reverse gear...

Lmao!

Just kidding. It looks like your gif rewinds backwards. I Love it. Such a simple, fun, and also healthy toy.

Unless you do a nose dive over a curbside like I probably would. :-p

Ahahahahha! :D Did you fall too?

DV spent a month off of work with an ooopppsie. Some serious road rash, but the worst was the wrenched knee. He didn't have to have surgery....

It's Christmas and all she wants since childhood is a scooter. Tell me all about your electric scooter, you did get one right?

Unfortunately I don't have a scooter. :(

Thought for sure there'd be a scooter under the tree.

Yes start with the kicker scooter, then you can kick start a motorbike later in life. Merry Christmas.

I hope! Thank you, merry Christmas! :)

I got to have one of these when I was like 11, but I'm more of a bike guy. Good thing you could finally get one. Also, fingers crossed you get the electric one. The gif works just fine and you look so happy in it!

Yeah, I'm very happy on the scooter! :))

I'm glad to know that :)

Yeah, there was a toy I lusted for.

image.png

By Revell, The Visible V-8. It was incredible in the early 60s when I wanted it so badly. The funny thing is my kid brother got it for Christmas one year. We actually talk about the thing, and he has since bought one for each of his boys (who are in their 30s and 40s now) AND he bought another for himself as a grown up. Talk about impact!

I honestly don't remember what I got for Christmas that year, but I certainly remember what he got. It was just too cool.

Ah yeah, I know someone who had this...I'm not sure where it came from, an original or one purchased as an adult, but he had it in his mancave...Along with some very interesting cars. I just looked and it's available on Amazon, but seems to be unavailable currently. I'll tell you what, let's go halves on it...Ship it to your place and you can construct and keep it there until I come up there to grab it and bring it down here for a while. Fair?

!ENGAGE 25

Oh that's so cool you can see everything inside the engine, I had a crazy idea long ago that I wanted to build an engine myself, lol. I can remember that was talking to.my ex boyfriend and I told him, I think I can build one we have almost all the pieces and a store near just in case, LOL. But I never did

I've rebuilt lots of motors now, but I never tried to build one from scratch.

Do you remember the movie Worlds Fastest Indian? Bert Munro (Anthony Hopkins) cast a lot of his own parts then machined them to fit. I read about him real time in Cycle World.

What a strange toy, you like to kill your creativity. Hehehe @bigtom13

My brother and I both thought it was the ultimate toy! Both gearheads that loved to take stuff apart and put it together again...

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

So this is the definition of a "Power Toy". So he has bought a total of 4 of these bad boys? That's some investment. How much is this thing anyhow? How much power does it pack?

I think it's about $50 today. It doesn't pack any power, but you can turn it by hand. Everything works...

Ha, ha, ha. Oh, I see. Well, it looks interesting and I bet that's part of the charm!

Hi Well I thought you will go with motorbike...😆😄I have something here for you but Unable to show you upload photo now. I send you you once I have a good connection 🙂

Greetings, everyone. Merry Christmas
Hope you had a great weekend. I'm coming late to the meeting, but I just wanted to add my two cents. In my town there was this sort of implied rule of thumb that children got presents from el niño Jesús (baby Jesus) up to about age 9. I had some cool toys that I can remember, including a bike and a very realistic machine gun (it glittered in the dark and sounded like a "real" one). One toy (or a series of them to be more precise) that I always wanted, even though I never knew for certain if they existed, was the action figures of my favorite cartoons.

festival de robots.jpg
From left to right: Super Magnetrón, El Vengador, Galactico, and El Gladiador

To this group, whose action figures I've never seen anywhere, we'd have to add Mazinger Z, on ethat I actually have seen in many stores, including a hardware store in downtown Cumaná.

I asume these toys wee commercialized in big cities, especially in Japan, but I never bother to find out once the Internet made it possible to do that. Growing up in a small rural town, no cable, only one national TV station, there was little to see. These cartoons were an amazing window to fantasy and science fiction. Since the local stores had a very limmited variety of cheap toys, I used to "build" the ones I fantasized about with playdough.
The only porblem was that our town's high temperatures made it impossible for those home-made action figures to last much. I used to make them, put them in the freezer, take them out to play a bit and when they were about to melt, i'd put them back in the freezer (until mom or dad found them and freaked out).

These things remind me of a cross between PowerRangers and Transformers and I dig their names! Galactico! Who wouldn't want to be called that!

I've not heard of these guys before though, maybe they're specific to your country. I like your ingenuity though, freezing your Play Doh versions so they could be played with longer...Smart.

I think the games and toys we came up with fr our imagination were often the best and had a learning benefit also...You know, exploring creativity.

Thanks for joining in this week.

I have always wanted an electronic car but i didn't get one. It could be controlled with a console. It has a removable battery.

images 19.jpeg

A remote control car has been on the list for more boys I'd say so I'm not surprised you mention it. I had one as a kid, played with it a lot until the little motor burned out a few years later. It was fun.

Thanks for joining in this week. I hope you stay and interact with some of the others. It's a good way to start relationships.

!ENGAGE 25

Thank you for the kind words. Also the word of wisdom was great too.

I hope the little car burning didn't cause any serious accident at home

Well, it didn't catch fire just burned out inside its internals. No damage, but was not repairable.

Okay. That's fine then 😌

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I could probably get along just fine with that one or a real Tesla would be OK too!

😂😂😂😂😂.. Tesla will be so nice I guess

Train toy that I wanted in my childhood but never got because it was not available that time.

Trains are attractive to everyone, in my country that kind of gift is used a lot to decorate around the Christmas trees and they look beautiful. @topbooster

Toy trains...I would have liked one too but it wasn't to be. Maybe in my second childhood. 😉

My brother and sister have both built 'Empires' as adults. My grandfather had a monstrous (4 sheets of plywood) Empire and all of us have lusted for it :)

My sister is damn near 60 and her train set up is her proudest thing. It's pretty cool.

Never too old for a train toy

Always have loved toy trains. Maybe someday I can get back to my hobby and incorporate a train set into the mix?

I do not remember not getting anything I wanted, but here is one for the G-Dog:
https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/liebherr-r-9800-excavator-42100

Haha, now that's something I've had my eye on for a while...It's just a little out of my price range so...You can purchase it and send it over anytime. I'll pay the shipping. :)

Yeh, but if I had the money I would probably buy it for myself. Thought it might interest you.

Yes, fair point...It's not the cheapest thing around and I'd hardly expect someone to buy it for me. Still, one can dream.

Yes, one can always dream. What is life without dreaming about building things to occupy our minds when not working....

Well, I'm about to build some Lego, so whilst I do it I'll dream about that excavator. :)

So, I know I'm late but had to comment, it made me think of a time when I almost gave my brother permanent brain damage with a toy.

I don't know if you've heard of Tonka trucks but my brother had one. They're made of metal and I remember them being pretty heavy. I had to be around five years old, and my brother was six. My father was home, I remember a cast being on his leg. My brother and I were playing in the back yard, I was playing with a red plastic car, I can remember it was faded, almost pink from the sun... and I'm pretty sure it was some sort of sports car. My brother had the Tonka truck. So, I'm having a good time, I was a child who was absolutely fine with being alone. My brother on the other hand well.... He saw me having fun with the car and so he came and took it, he gave me the tonka truck... I continued that have a blast especially now cause I can fill it with dirt and oh boy! Well my brother sees this and comes and takes it from me, gives me back the plastic car. OK, No biggie, I start playing again, and my brother does the same thing. So now that I have the tonka truck, I get up... pick up the truck, walk over to my brother, raise the truck above my head, and smack my brother in the head with the tonka truck. At about the time I have the truck raised above my head, my father comes running out with his cast yelling... but it was already too late. My brother was fine, I was 5 and that truck was heavy so I didn't hurt him as much as I could have. Boy, did I get a beating that day. HAHA

I have made sure that my brother doesn't forget that all these years lol

Merry Belated Christmas @galenkp Can I say belated for Christmas? See you around!

I had Tonka Trucks as a kid too and they make perfect tools with which to inflict blunt force trauma to siblings heads, but I'm preaching to the converted here as I can see you've already worked that out. It's a shame you didn't get to this topic within the weekend it was posted as I think this comment wold have inspired a lot of fun commenting.

I hope you've had a great festive season and now 2021 is here that it starts well, ends well and has a lot of good stuff in the middle.
