Carving Jack-o'-Lanterns. During Halloween or for the season, practically everyone has a pumpkin on their porch. Closer to the night of, he gets carved, usually a giant smile or a spooky laugh.
Costumes! All kinds, spooky, superhero, favorite character, last year, I was a princess with a tiara.
Trick or treating!! Who doesn't love to do it? We get literally a record breaking amount of kids!
We try to get to one haunted house. They best ones are when people do them for fun! I have been to some really awesome ones.
My brothers used to tell scary stories! With six of them, they never ran out. We did this around a bonfire.

Yes Halloween is in the air! The varieties of pumpkins is getting out of hand now lol. I am never on to judge another persons tastes but Im not sold on them myself...especially the orange with white warts! Eww!
I have to admit, the big orange is still my favorite. Perhaps it feels like part of my childhood or maybe they really are the best. I can see a warty one making a good Jack, but, it would have to be round and not too lumpy. That would be a little gross.
The others, I don't mind eating the others, but they don't say Halloween to me. The ones above are a little yucky looking. It looks like something growing on them and perhaps it is. Warts actually can be a virus.
Yucky, right??
#MarketFriday loves you!
That is why I appreciate you. You really don't judge.
So many pumpkins. Tis the season.
I just bought a "pie pumpkin" to try and make soup out of it but then I got home and realized that we don't have a big enough pot to make soup... 🙄
supposedly we will be getting the rest of our stuff from France in the next week or so though so it should be fine. Worse case, I can always turn the pumpkin into a jack o lantern haha.
Or cut it up and roast it in the oven. Or over a grill, or pumpkin curry... How about you spend the $10 at Goodwill or Salvation Army and buy a secondhand pot to hold you over? I'm all in on the secondhand pot. I want that soup now.
I bought two "pie pumpkins" - one for soup and one for pie.
I can't tell you how fun it is every two years to wait up to a month for the goods. Only one time was it three months and it had all of my kids' Christmas gifts in there, delivered promptly at the end of January, just in time for Valentine's Day. :(
Have fun, whatever you do with it! Hi, @leaky20!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Buying a second hand pot is a good idea. I never thought of that. I'll definitely keep it in mind if our stuff gets delayed any further. Roasting it's also a good idea. 👍
You can roast it and freeze it too. Then use it for soup. I am still not cold as it is hitting the high side of 79. Probably this will be the last week of that. :)
Yeah the temperature is cooling off fast
When I was a kid, we dressed up in our costumes and went from door to door for blocks and blocks around the neighborhood collecting bags of candy. Oh the hauls we use to make ! It was glorious! Back then we and our parents knew the people in our neighborhood and it was mostly safe.
My parents always got us a large orange pumpkin to carve, but we never put it outside. Usually it sat lit on a stool inside and peered out the front window. Anyone that put their pumpkin on the porch or outside in any way, usually found it smashed to pieces in the road later as some hooligan kids sneaked it away for some smashing fun.
Now I turn off the lights and pretend I'm not home.....LOL I did hand out candy for years and years, depending where I lived. I'm semi rural now though and don't know many of my neighbors and the ones I know do not have children living here.
I do still love all the things about fall.... with the exception that it means winter is not far behind. Me and winter aren't friends.
I also have a colorfully painted dried gourd that rattles when you shake it from the dried seeds that are still inside.
Enjoyed your pumpkin photos !
🎃
Halloween certainly was a lot of fun growing up! There were nine of us, so yes! The haul was huge, even if it wasn't! :) We knew all our neighbors back then, it really has changed, and not in a great way. Moving to a neighborhood changed it back to how it used to be. Some have children, some are beginning their life together, and some are in the second part of their life with no kids again. So the mix is nice and we still have a block party (of sorts) and the kids come by and enjoy a treat from the party tray and a few trick-or-treat candies. It has taken a few years to fine-tune it. :) We are hoping to try it again as it has been not happening since Covid.
We don't have a pumpking-throwing problem (yet) but, all it takes is one mischievous kid to make that happen. It is a gated community, so we don't have a bunch of people there that don't belong.
Did your parents sort through your candy? I know that mine did. Even knowing everyone, it used to be a big deal to sort through it as I got older. I remember you used to be able to bring it to the hospital where they would X-ray it for free one year. I guess they had a problem, although being young, I don't remember exactly. I did shut off the lights during Covid. People let their kids out (some) and I just wasn't feeling it. :) If I lived rurally, I would probably shut my lights off. If I don't know them, it is not as much fun. Still, like you, I enjoy the pumpkin carving, the color and the beauty of Autumn.
Winter... for a bit, until Christmas is over, perhaps New Year. Then it needs to go roost somewhere else! Hi, Ms. @jacey.boldart ! I hope you are having a most fabulous day! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words!
#MarketFriday loves you!
You know, my parents probably did look through the candy, but I don't remember them doing it, so they definitely didn't make a big production of it. I remember the xraying things when someone got a razor blade in a candy bar or the such..... somewhere in America, but not around here and we never had ours xrayed.
My day wasn't so terrible for an all day phone day on a Friday, till after last break when half of the calls I received were from angry bitches ! So although 3/4ths of it was not so bad, the last quarter left me frazzled at punch out time. Ugh....
I'm off now, so I will go make something yummy for supper to make me feel all better.
sigh
I only know mine did as I heard her talking to my aunt about it. My mom wasn't going to and she asked her if she had listened to the news. They were the ones that broadcast it all week long. Ditto on the x-ray. The thing is, we knew all of our neighborhood.
My mom told her that if and when she didn't trust the people she knew, she wouldn't let us go out and trick of treat.
The razor blades were somewhere in America and nobody ever knew where. LOL
Oh, those *itches! How dare they!!!?? It's been a week for me and I have no work, no play and so, I will be going to a Meadery over by Skyline Drive, where all the pretty leaves live. So, I will take in some leaves and some Mead with three others and call it a good weekend. I finished with my yummy already. I didn't realize I was hungry until you said it!
I say a glass of something is right in line for tonight! I'll go with a picture for the moment. I have to go find the one I want! ❤️
Awe beautiful pumpkin, and great shots Sweetie. Yeah Pumpkin season is upon us, and there's nothing I love more than seeing pumpkin spice everything in the stores. From lattes to candles, pumpkin is everywhere and I can't get enough of it. I need to go to every store to check it out :) I don't really celebrate the Halloween but I do love its decoration, witching and colorful look :)
I'm not sure if it's late but this is my entry for #marketfriday challenge 🙂
Thanks Sweetie and have a beautiful week ahead :)

I don't really celebrate Halloween, but, I do give out candy to the little kids! :) It is fun to see them all dressed up. My girls like to give it out and honestly, they love dressing up. LOL
We love the pumpkins and yes!! Pumpkin Spice everything! :) And the colors!!!!

Love pumpkins and halloween /autumn decorations 🎃🍁🥰
Here in Spain we don’t see any… decorations. When I was younger in the Netherlands also not. But lately they are adjusting to the US festivities and integrating more and more.
Can’t wait to own a house and start putting up accessories with the seasons 😁
When we were in the US we saw pumpkins everywhere. Wonderful to see.
Beautiful captures Denise 😊😎🥰
It brings me in such a festivity mood seeing all of the orange colours.
I don’t think I like the white ones. It just doesn’t work I think.
Posted my marketfriday post… felt like I missed a lot of weeks hahaha 🤣
Some of my Vermont adventures:
“Market Friday” ~ 🍁The VERMONT Country Store in Weston, my US adventures 😎 🇺🇸
Have a wonderful MarketFriday @dswigle 👋🏻🥰🍁🎃🍁🎃
Hi, Jackie! @littlebee4 There is something happy about the autumn colors and pumpkins in particular! There are pumpkins and Halloween in different parts of the world. It looks strange to me! But, it is fun to see their take on it.
It will be fun when you buy and make it your own. Yes, in the US, and particularly in the cooler regions, they start with the pumpkins early. They harvest earlier there. :) I like it early, it is never tiring to see the colors of Autumn. I really don't like the white ones. It looks like something is wrong with them, or albino. That and the ghost pumpkins are what they were called when they first came out. I am still not used to them. 🤣
Oh, you are fine! See how great it feels to skip a few weeks and come back to it with reaffirmed love for it? Oh, Vermont! I was there last month!
I am so glad you had a good time!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Hi Denise, yes there is something special and happy about the autumn colours. They are warm… and are like a bigggg huggg to me. 🍁🍁
Yes, that are my thought with those white ones too. It looks like there is something wrong with them.
It so doesn’t fit in the scenery when one thinks of autumn and halloween.
Yes, I am 😁🤗🥰 coming right back with new energy and new photos to share 🤓🤩📸
It looks so lovely Vermont. We didn’t go far up, the the bits we saw… are beautiful. We go back to explore it more for sure.
Thank you so much @dswigle 👋🏻😁☀️
Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend!
!LADY 🤗🤗🥰🌺
Vermont is beautiful and I have two aunts and uncles who live there, but, most live in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Lots and lots of them. They are on the prolific side of my mom's family and she has about 40 aunts and uncles with 9 or 10 kids each and they have large families.
Very Prolific. I don't even know all of them because they keep having more. LOL It would be funny if it wasn't true.
Anyway, we used to Ski in Vermont and New York (and Canada) growing up. Mostly Vermont. Easy to get to. I am off to a Meadery tomorrow and to look at a few leaves on the way over to the Mountains.
Have a great weekend!
Wow, that’s a large family.
I can count mine on 2 hands, not hubbies side. But still not a lot there too.
Hahaha I can imagine, at a certain point you have no idea who joins as it is soooo large.
Sounds lovely to go up there to ski.
Nice, have the most fun and enjoy the views 🍁🍁😁😎
Happy weekend Denise 👋🏻💃🏻🤗🥰

Big annual traditions now rolling in quickly, we don't celebrate Halloween although of late the younger generation have taken to having some fun on the day.

The internet has sure changed a lot of the world, hasn't it? It has given it some new traditions to try out. Some will be kept and the rest tossed back.
Some of the consequences are alarming, but, hopefully, parents are doing a good job pushing their kids in the right direction. I have to admit, I have come across some things that shock me and I really thought I had seen it all.
I admittedly haven't even seen half of it. You know what? I am okay with that! 😮 Thank you so much, Joan! @joanstewart You always leave me feeling like I just sat down and had coffee with you.

We are living in/with turmoil thrust upon the masses. Stick to logical reasoning, question everything to find balance we are able to manage.
I think many of older calibre feel more inadequate now, 1939 popular saying 'Keep Calm and Carry On', this has altered to living with constant anxiety being promoted as a form of control. We don't have to look far and wide to see where this originates either!
Take care as always and tons of hugs and love to you and the family over the pond.
Denise Antionette ... was that a costume? Great idea for one.
I usually pie a small bag of ornamental gourds each year. If we get ambition, we paint them sparkly for Xmas. Then a couple large orange pumpkins for carving. Then whole lot of Japanese pumpkins and spaghetti squashed for eating. I made a low carb almost carnivore pumpkin pie a few days past for Thanksgiving(Canadian) and will use the rest for soup or low carb cookies.
A beautiful and bright blog, Beauty:)
I have got my gourds intact! :) I never thought of making them sparkly for Christmas! We do have a carving party which is lots of fun. Some of them get pretty inventive. I have the one that looks like a preschooler carved it. :) My art gene carries over on the pumpkin carving too.
Aren't the different squashes so cool? I sometimes pick one I have never seen and we try it. Bake, roast, soup, and curried up. There isn't any way that we won't try it. This weekend, a pumpkin pie pumpkin was bought to stuff with dried apricots and other things. The jury is out on that one. I won't be eating it, most likely, but, it is free to smell. :)
Your Thanksgiving came up quick this year, for me. Mostly because of less hype (or maybe I have been off the depressing news for a while) but, a belated Happy Thanksgiving to you! Why do I forget you are Canadian? Nevermind. That is ridiculous. You have always been Canadian. :/
Carnivore Pumpkin!!?? Do tell!!! Now, you really have my attention!
Thank you for your presence. xoxo

How amazing it is that the nature spreads the colours like a magic
As hallowen is not celebrated at my place, may I know what trick-or-treat canday means?
Hehe. Pros and cons go hand in hand
So, Halloween is the season when pumpkins are all around. I wonder what you people do with those pumpkins when the celebration is over 🤔.
Also, is there a price increase in pumpkins during the season?
Thanks for this wonderful post and initiative
Here is the link to my post.

Trick or treat is quite silly. The kids dress up in fun costumes and go through the neighborhood ringing doorbells and saying Trick or Treat! (the meaning is cany or they will pull a prank) People always give candy and I am not sure where that came from, but, it has always been said.
We usually only carve one pumpkin, the rest are set out, but then only for a day or so, and it is chilly so they don't get harmed. I bake, roast some, make soup, stuff with wild rice, and other things. We eat them! :) I also take out the pumpkin seeds and roast them and put spices on them and salt.
Actually, the pumpkins got cheaper this year. One place was more expensive, but, the rest went down in price. They don't usually go up for the holiday at all.
Thank you for dropping your link!

Seems like a fun filled event.
I am wondering if anyone play really horrible tricks. They might me damaging. Should be avoided, ahhhh!
Nice to know the prices of pumpkins aren't increased. In my country, whatever thing is in demand for the season, its price increases 🙄
Roasted seeds of pumpkins.... 😋
... i would love to have some
Carving Jack-o-lanterns, costumes, trick-or-treating... all my favorite things to do during Halloween,

Wow, that's a lot of pumpkins! I've grown some pumpkins of my own... white ones...lol. I'm not an expert on pumpkins in all honesty but I found them quite easy to grow...
Halloween...? Not really big on it in our area. We hear about it and see it on the news on television. I think over here, the biggest Halloween activity is people watching movies with Halloween as a theme...lol.
You can find my post for this week here.
Pumpkins, like squash and melons, are easy growers. You have to almost pay people to take the extras away. :)
The white ones are becoming popular over here. The first ones to arrive were called (appropriately) ghost pumpkins and albino pumpkins. It is 100% an American holiday of sorts, although many do not celebrate it. Like most other things, I don't read into the witchcraft or spooky stuff, but, a reason for kids to dress up and have fun. Watching movies usually happens the closer the kids get to be a teenager.
Hi @jacoalberts !! Thanks so much for reading the post and dropping the link! Much appreciated!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Hahaha...yes, that sounds about right!
Yes, I'm also not into the witchcraft or spooky side of anything (Halloween included), but if the kids can have some harmless fun, that's great👍!
Have a great weekend, @dswigle!!
Me either. It is just not my thing. If it weren't harmless, it wouldn't be in my house, but, honestly, there is more harm in the powers that be in trying to lump it into that category than it was to just leave it how it has always been: A fun way to dress up and impress each other with their costumes.
Thank you! I hope your weekend is great too!
I agree with you 100%. And what I find most disturbing is that those powers to be, are specifically targeting our children! That is what I appreciate about what you are saying...it is good for the kids to have fun, but we as adults need to be involved. We need to know what the kids are exposed to.
Like you, I'm open to having good fun, but when you start messing with my kids (and now grandkids too), things can get ugly...
You're welcome and thank you!
Absolutely! I am not one of those free-range parents. I agree 100%

Hello Denise! Here it is not customary to celebrate Halloween although over the years it has become more and more popular for children to trick-or-treat, and dress up in costumes. But there is no big fuss about it. But I think I would love to spend a few days in a place where pumpkins are carved and Halloween decorations are made, it must be a lot of fun. 🎃😄
It is fun! Honestly, it is only a few days really that there is any fuss, but, the stores' hype is as people buy at different times, so they do it all month. We don't celebrate as much as carve the pumpkins and put decorations up. I just put my three-headed dragon up in my yard I put it on when the kids are walking to school and turn it off until they are walking back home. The neighborhood kids love it. :)
The dragon's wings flap, so he is a big hit. :) Her he is in front of my house.
Oh my god, that three-headed dragon must be a sensation among the kids in your neighborhood. It's so cool 😻
Happy Sunday!

You're welcome. Thanks for checking out.
Never have pumpkin curry. I wonder who can get me one.
I love your pumpkins!!!! always such a variety of colors and shapes! Unfortunately, this is not the case in our country. There are only a couple of varieties of pumpkin. Wow!!!! white pumpkin!!!!! and so much!!!! That's very beautiful! Are these pumpkins just as sweet? hay sofa! I'm afraid if you sit on it, it will stab ... 😂😂😂 pumpkins with warts I would not want to eat 😶😁 link to my post: https://ecency.com/hive-196308/@tali72/creativity-store
They have so many varieties now!! Just a couple of years ago, it was only the orange ones and gourds! All the fancy crossovers are amazing. The white has not been around long at all! Last year was the first year I saw more than one or two in a pumpkin place. Now there is an abundance of them! Last year the warty ones were few, but more than the white ones.
I think the variety is here to stay. Most taste very much just like the orange. Surprising!
I won't eat the ones with warts! Hehehe... I just can't LOL Thank you for stopping by and reading, then dropping your link!

If I was a pumpkin I'd be one of those orange ones. Just saying Swigles.
You do know there were several orange ones, yes? I am just going to guess that you would sprout up as one of those giant orange ones.
The lumpy ones are just goosebump-worthy. :)
Hi, Galen! @galenkp
#MarketFriday loves you!
I'd be a lumpy orange one for sure. I reckon I would make a bloody great soup also! Served with crusty bread, I'd be tasty.
Noooooo! I would never call you lumpy! I was going with the regular guy, Mr. Orange.
Be real! I would never call you lumpy! Crusty bread I could see, you know, anything over a day becomes hard and crusty. I'll take your word on everything else.
I'm trusting like that. :)
Lol, lumpy in a rock hard, chiselled sort of way then.
Oh, I knew that. :) You are a man, you know. Well, I know you know.
Good morning to you! I almost missed Aussie time. Thankfully, it is the weekend.
I have learned a lot about pumpkins today. We haven't even seen one of those in real life here, we just get a few small, edible varieties. We don't celebrate Halloween, just sometimes kids do it for fun in their schools, but it's nothing like the tradition that you guys have. It must be fun to participate in a full celebration. What do they do with all the pumpkins after the celebration? These pumpkins seem to be in high demand.
This Friday I participate in Market Friday and I share my publication here, I hope you like it.

Greetings, good weekend!
Saludos mi amiga!
Do you get small edible pumpkins or squash? Many people here do not celebrate it, but, the schools always do it unless it is a super conservative Christian (not Catholic) school.
We have celebrated it all my life, and for young kids and older ones too, it is a harmless celebration. The pumpkins? I have mine out already so, usually, keep it going until it becomes unusable. The ones that are not carved out for the holiday are usually kept in a cool dry place, inside the house! Then cut up and cooked after the holiday.
Soup, grilled, roasted, or pie/bread are made from them. I am sure I am going to like yours! You pay attention to detail, so this should be fun! Thank you for reading and for dropping the link!

What beautiful pumpkin photos you took @dswigle! It is my first time finding out there are many types of pumpkins because I thought there was only one type all this while. Looks like Halloween mood is kicking in. I did not need any costume or decoration to give me the goosebumps. The pumpkins with warts did it! Yikes!!!!!!
Well I went to a flea market this round for market Friday.
https://ecency.com/hive-147010/@happycrazycon/market-friday-flea-market-at-publika-kuala-lumpur
The photos actually came from the cell phone that I had on me. It was an impromptu meeting with the pumpkins I found on the side of the road. Thank you for the kind words. Until a few years ago, the only ones you would see were the orange ones and an occasional other squash.
Hehe. You don't need a costume? Haha! Yes!! Aren't they just crazy looking? It was a long process to get it that way! A little spooky indeed!

wow huge pumpkins! Sounds Halloween this year will be a grand celebration over there. I have to be prepare for market Friday today. I wish you a very blessed Friday dear mam Wigle.
Thank you! The same. Have a blessed day always. Halloween is only for fun some people do it and others don't. We like to carve and decorate the pumpkins plus many of the neighbors get together for a BBQ at that time, usually while we are passing out candy.
It is a nice getting together for us. :)

Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product.
Take pictures! Be creative!
Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work.
Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.

I have seen pumpkin dishes before but these size of pumpkin I haven't seen any around here so far.
Am kinda wondering what they will taste like...
For today I went shopping at a big pharmaceutical store.
https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@monica-ene/reasons-why-you-should-shop
I always select smaller ones for eating and large ones for carving. The big ones do taste fine, but, I have a mental block about it as most vegetables are harder and have less flavor when they get too big. :)

woouw I just found out there are many types of pumpkins, thank you for sharing @dswigle
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words. There really are a lot of pumpkins now. Every year, it seems like the varieties grow and grow. Now, they are even giant! I have seen pumpkins that are hundreds and hundreds of pounds/kilos!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

woouw that's so amazing, the biggest pumpkin I've ever come across is only 5 kilograms @dswigle
A 2,560-pound Minnesota pumpkin was crowned the winner at this year's weigh-off - This was the winner for the largest pumpkin this year!

I love fall season the most even tho we don’t get fall season here in India, but still i enjoyed seeing such pretty fall colours on your post.
Great blog, I’m new here if you got some time do check out my content as well. I would really appreciate that.:)
What an awesome pumpkin market post! I feel like I have already visited one... but I haven't. We grew some pumpkins this year. Quite a few. We have some we kept back for decorating but we have already been eating the others. We sometime sneak in some squash for decorations since we didn't grow any gourds. We have slowed down a lot on Halloween celebration since our kids have grown up. It was always about the kids for us. My wife and I used to work in the Party store business and Halloween was THE season. She even did some PR spots. We had a TV crew at our house one Halloween morning shooting on location all morning. But thats another story... and seems like a whole different life. Its been years and a few careers ago lol Happy #marketfriday!
Here's my entry for this week.
https://ecency.com/hive-196308/@steven-patrick/marketfriday-at-stowe-mercantile
I still have some at home, they even dress up and hand out the candy. You are right! It is about the kids and I say that but before children, I did a jack-o-lantern and handed out candy. But that s pretty much it until it wasn't. I still live in a neighborhood, so there is a fair amount of kids that all come on foot as the community is gated. The other house is semi-rural at the shore, so I never go there. :)
I totally get it, and will probably follow suit, but you never know, right? Thanks for dropping that link and being a part of the challenge!
#MarketFriday loves you!
I can only imagine having a TV crew there for Halloween and I hope you tell that story around Halloween! That would make a great post!
Pumpkins!! Surprisingly I never bought one because in here, we don’t celebrate it as grand as other countries. Sure there are costumes but houses don’t really decorate, only some stores. 😅 Hence, I never knew the difference of a gourd and a pumpkin! Good to know!
The straw couch is awesome! That’s a lot of work!
Here’s my #MarketFriday post
https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@wittyzell/the-mega-discount-department-store-of-japan
We don't celebrate Halloween where I live but watching it on TV seems like fun. I've seen a lot of people on Instagram going about with their preparations and I love it. If I were to celebrate, I'd choose scary stories over haunted houses and treats over tricks. Haha!
Those pumpkins are really huge and scary especially the ones with wart on them.

Wow, so many pumpkins ! That's an impressive diversity.
I have the impression that, as always, you have done good business...!

Thanks you again for this share of you and this initiative of the #MarketFriday !
I haven't seen that much variety of pumpkin. I didn't know they come in different colors like that. The ones with warts are perfect for jack-o-lanterns. The warts add more character to it. We don't celebrate Halloween here or do trick or treat. We are slowly adapting that though for I get to see more and more activities related to Halloween like trick or treat. It would be interesting to see your porch bedecked with Halloween stuff.
Here is my entry for this week's #MarketFriday.
Happy weekend!
In my country your holiday is rather popular too:)
I've never celebrated it, and I don't have my own pumpkin, but I like the idea of decorating it or making some nice pictures on it:) MAybe I'll join you;)🌟

Thank you for dropping your link! I appreciate it!
That would be awesome!!! I don't do the spooky like some people, but, I do love the pumpkins!
Here is one of the ways we did our pumpkin! We carved faces and scenery into the pumpkin, then lit him up and put him out on the porch!
wow!! I like it so much!
it's much more creative than just traditional pumpkin faces and eyes;)
did you do it by a knife? a tree - ok...but a bird...how? it must be a very thin and tiny knife? very beautiful!❤️
I have a pumpkin carving kit. Less than $7.00 US but, I have had it for 15 years! I paid probably $2.00 but now they are almost $7.00 It does such a great job! You could use a really thin kitchen knife to do it. This came from a WalMart ad, but they have them everywhere. source
ahhh...special tools! so cool;) I've never seen them;)
in your place it's a real art and a real huge industry, but it's logical because you've such a holiday and it's an old tradition
and are pumpkins cheap in your place? Here they are very cheap, and most people don't like them. I use it for smoothies and salads most often
They are fairly inexpensive and I cook with them a lot, all different kinds of squash. I have only ever had these tools, I use a skinny knife many times. It is a short industry as it is not really a holiday, but, kids like dressing up and going trick or treating. I went when I was a kid, buy my parents did not. It wasn't a real holiday like now.
Smoothies. I have never done that, but, roast, make soup, grill, stuff, and anything else I can think of. :) We love them in our family. Then, of course, the best part. Roasted pumpkin seeds sprinkled with spices or just kosher salt.
Oh how I love pumpkins! I think it's great that you decorate both stairways with them, @dswigle. That must look so festive and fun. Halloween really is one of the best holidays (if not the best). It's just special and different. The fall colors, the decorations, the little people all jacked up about costumes and candy... it's just so delightful!
Here's my entry for the week... a day late and a dollar short, as usual! https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@jayna/market-friday-ghost-church
Thank you for stopping by and dropping your link! I am so appreciative! ❤️
It is fun, especially with those little people! I can't believe you use that term too. :) What a blast they have! We close our neighborhood down (it's gated anyway) and have a mini block party so the adults can grab a hot dog or their grilled delights on their way through. We have been doing that since we moved here and we all look forward to it. (also trick of drink) Several stations were set up throughout the neighborhood.
We are all decorated! Here is how it started:
Love it, @dswigle! Our neighborhood is a ridiculously tiny one — a cul-de-sac off a major road. So one one comes here except the neighbor kids. And they mostly all go around in one big group. So it tends to be a quiet night. The adults often have a get-together, either inside or outside, to make the evening more festive. It's so fun.
How nice!! Don't you just love it! That is exactly why I love mine!! The good times keep getting better with time! ❤️
