Rolling out the red carpet into a new year of jazz
It feels and sounds like the affirmation of what I have been propagating for years. The brass sound does not only originate in the south of the United States, but in the Balkans, where these instruments and their sound reflect the emotional and musical basis for the emotional state of an entire region.
Es fühlt und hört sich an wie die Bestätidung dessen, was ich bereits seit Jahren propagiere. Der Brass-Sound hat seinen Ursprung nicht ausschließlich im Süden der Vereinigten Staaten, sondern auf dem Balkan, auf dem diese Instrumente und deren Sound die emotionale und musikalische Grundlage für die Gefühlslage einer ganzen Region wiedergeben.
Breakdown Brass is one of those brass-jazz bands that usually makes the listener wonder why he has never heard the name of this band before? Yet, you have certainly heard their music before, without being able to classify it. For example, in the Netflix series "Flaked" or in the VICE/Munchies show "Moltissimo".
Breakdown Brass gehören zu den Formationen im Brass-Jazz Bereich, bei denen sich der Zuhörer meist fragt, wieso ihm noch nie der Name dieser Band vorher untergekommen ist? Dabei hat man ihre Musik mit Sicherheit schon mal gehört, ohne sie zuordnen zu können. Beispielsweise in der Netflix-Serie “Flaked” oder in der VICE/Munchies-Show "Moltissimo".
The history of Breakdown Brass began with the album "Monmouth b/w Next Episode". This production at Kept Records was followed by "The Horseman b/w Mary Jane" with the support of Mixto Music. And now, under the title "Harrow" b/w "Nautilus Hijacked", they deliver a record characterized by driving brass sections, intense trombones and a brilliant baritone sax.
Die Geschichte von Breakdown Brass begann mit dem Album “Monmouth b/w Next Episode”. Dieser Produktion bei Kept Records folgte "The Horseman b/w Mary Jane" mit Unterstützung von Mixto Music. Und nun liefern sie unter dem Titel "Harrow" b/w "Nautilus Hijacked" eine Scheibe ab, die von treibenden Bläsersätzen, intensiven Posaunen und einem genialen Bariton-Sax geprägt ist.
