Market Friday 's Countdown to Christmas! One Hundred Days and Counting!

in Market Friday3 years ago

Christmas is coming! I know, I cannot believe it either, but, all the signs are in the air. The Rockettes will be back!! The Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes is back at Radio City Music Hall for the 2021 Extravaganza! The performances will run from November 5 - Jan. 2, 2022. The New York City Ballet will be performing George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, from November 26, 2021 through January 2, 2022. Jut so you know it, nobody dances for no good reason! Good reasons! There’s dedication, discipline, exercise, showmanship, fun-fun-fun, and my favorite reason of all, for the pure joy of it. Hallmark has their own countdown to Christmas with new movies, for all you Hallmark-y people!Yes! Christmas is definitely coming! What is it that you are most looking forward to. I will say up front that family, getting all together. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Let's just say that you heard it here on #MarketFriday first! Christmas is always such a special time of year, and getting ready for it is a huge part of that. It connects us to those around us as well as our loved ones.I think we can use that this year. It has been so long in coming. The prediction is that decorating will be huge this year and I expect a lot more people to put decorations up outside as well as make thier own special pieces to adorn the table or matle.

It is never too soon to express, to all of you, may what you seek come forth this coming year and may the joy of the moment also linger on in your life.

I was just thinking how I get to take all the fun things out. This is one of those things I love and cherish, especially the memories it evokes. I got it at the christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, all those years ago. And it is as perfect as the day I bought it. I think they were called the German Candle Pyramid or in German: Weihnachtspyramide. Anyway... I put it together every year, to relive the time when we livedin a little village in Germany, enjoying the beauty and warmth of Christmas there. People and places. Christmas has a way of touching on those beautiful moments.

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here on Hive.

Step back from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life and reflect on the year that is passing us by. We can even add the year we missed. It is the season of tidings of comfort and joy - we are supposed to look for the good in everyone. So, be kind and give it freely. If you don't mind, I would like to start a little early this year.

This was a prize when I found it years ago. I just love it! I have never found another one again, but, then again, I haven't looked online. I found this in a small shop, that catered to Christmas around the world.

No Christmas is complete without a wreath. It’s no secret around the familial circle that I love the charm of seasonal wreaths. Maybe it is the surreptitious meaning. Probably not. In my mind, it’s that circular shape that represents eternity, for it has no beginning and no end. The unending circle of life, if you will. There is a certain cozy feeling wrapped up in all that evergreen. It's simple and it makes everything simply delightful. Whether you put yours on the front door or inside the house, a wreath is a beautiful way to get you feeling festive. Personally, I do both. One cn never have too many wreaths. I put one on all the inside doors of my house, including bedrooms doors. What an easy way to make an instant holdiday!

Sometimes, you don't really have to spend money and #MarketFriday is good with that! We are all about the savings! I have had to create my own magic. Decorating the tree is seen as remembering the past Christmases. Baking cookies is something I do so that I can give them and make them with my bigger kids and give to my friends and neighbors and sometimes assisted living/retirement homes. I do Christmas caroling and go out of my way to get my friends together for some activities; I try not get caught up in the whole agenda of buying and buying.

christmas two trees.jpg

Do something, somewhere, and make that magic. I know you can. Keep delegating those Christmas orchestrations to those around you. Mild depression is a huge problem with people at this time of year. Be cognizant and be kind. If the timing is right, invite someone who will be alone. Who really wants to be along at Christmas, wallowing in those Childhood memories?

Rules of the Road

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
  3. Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)
  5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
  6. Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
  7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
  8. Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.

Heart Vine (L).png

Four or five years ago, I watched a movie about Mother Theresa, and I was struck by the amount of love that one small woman was able to spread across the world. Not only did she alter the lives of everyone she touched; but, each of them went on to do beautiful things. Love is the power that drives that beauty.

christmas tree.jpg

Love is all around, especially leading up to the Christmas holidays. The media focuses on all the bad; however, there is so much good and beautiful in the world! You just have to train yourself to look for it! Look at any children's performance. Orchestra, dance, chorus, band... look at all the family members crammed in to witness a brief few moments of their child's accomplishment! If that ain't love...Well, I don't know what is!

Heart On A Course L.png

Please leave the link to your post here so it can easily be found by others. It helps you and me to have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much for joining us!! ❤

You know, it's not even Halloween and here I am talking about the true meanings of Thanksgiving in my heart and Christmas. That is okay to start early. For me, it's a good time to think about my spiritual, community and humanist values. How to make these time a meaningful and connecting event. There are people in the community that seem to be left out of it because of their family situation. They may have illness, be a primary caregiver, or they may be without proper means of transportation. Don’t forget to include these people in your fun. I know you, my friends. Always doing for others. Your kindness doesn't cost you anything more than time and possibly a little extra work, but the value far exceeds what you will ever put into it.Only 99 more days till Christmas!

I do so love the Christmas season. It seems a little bit shinier; a little bit brighter than the rest of the year. The spirit of Christmas prompts people to do caring things for others. It’s that season of loving and giving – not just to those we love, our families and friends, but people seem to reach out to see what they can find. Stretch that arm out, to those who see nothing to rejoice in, or for those we know are in desperate circumstances.

If you look at the poinsettia up close and personal, you see a radiant golden star shining from the center..As always, there must be flowers to color my world. #alwaysaflower

I love all that glitters, I love all the inset gold in these ornaments. It’s just not Christmastime without the glitter. Once you release the urge to use sparkle, it has permission to follow you far and wide. I am just waiting to be in the midst of a celebration, glittery charm included. Very soon, I will be unaware of the hint of glitter in my hair, my clothes or even on my face somewhere, the sun and shine telling the tale. Oh, glitter me Christmas!

338938_10150486017923832_1935759453_o.jpg

Christmas eve means so many things it's hard to define. Phases of emotion corresponding with my age. The unsurpassed anticipation as a child... only to be outdone when it was my turn to be the giver to my children. But it's not about the gifts, is it? It's family and friends, caring and sharing, and most of all, it's about the love.

And just like that, this post is done. I hope you had a good time and learned a little something new. As always, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit and just remember, #MarketFriday loves you! Thank you for supporting the challenge! Have a most fabulous day! Cheers!!

Once we get to Halloween the time speeds up to twice as fast!

You always make it look so special!

A real life elf :)

Here is my link

https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@old-guy-photos/the-death-of-the-mall-on-market-friday

Are you all ready for the Halloween fun to begin already? I cannot decorate for it until October, maybe even mid-October. It is one of the shortest Holidays for me. I cannot make myself decorate and earlier, it just doesn't seem right. Plus, it is the only holiday where it gets old quickly. I could leave Christmas up for all year and that would be fine with me. :))

Time is already flying I have started my Christmas letter to the family. I update everything from medical history to family reunions and who has had new babies/boyfriends/engaged/breakups/makeups/ you get the idea.

It's only 99 days away now! :) One can never be too early or Make people aware of it. I know that you will want to seek out the most perfect gift or make the perfect gift for those sweet kids of yours. You know those kinds of gifts take time and thought. And ingenuity. I have none of that! Maybe I will piece together a quilt for one or two of them. I have some quilts partially done that I work on, you know, in my spare time.

I am looking forward to sugarplums and fairies.

Thanks for dropping your link!

#MarketFriday loves you!

When I saw that you were already announcing Christmas I got scared. Is the year already over?
I've never met anyone more passionate about Christmas than you. You're the Christmas teacher. We can always find something to learn for Christmas preparations and decorations. Surely by Christmas you will delight us with many posts about this holiday.
I say platitudes but I'm not up to anything better.
Your post is so good, so beautiful that I am ashamed to put the link to my attempt, but I see you have already discovered it. Thank you!

It's true, I was, but, only because it was announced that it was 100 days before Christmas and had a Christmas countdown! I promise not to have too many this year, unless we are on lockdown and I have nothing else to do but work and post. :)))

I understand about the platitudes. Are you doing okay? You seem to have the wind out of your sails, so to speak. I never want to hear about the shame of your posts! You always wow me with what you put, even on your weakest day. You have become so very hard on yourself and I have started to relax and not let the small things in life have such an impact. We can only do what we can do. Now, I will check it out and I am sure, as usual, there will be much love for it.

Here is the link: https://ecency.com/hive-148441/@bluemoon/5-to-go

In case anyone wants to see it! :)

You know #MarketFriday loves you!

Also, I forgot to add, thank you so much for taking the time to join #MarketFriday! I appreciate it!

I do it with pleasure, even if not with the same inspiration as in the past.

I think you so much for your thoughtfulness! Don't feel obligated to press yourself so hard but you know that every time I see yours oh, I am secretly pleased. I just don't want it to be something that you coming to dread.

I'm not afraid and I like to find more unusual topics. Unless I find nothing special I go back to my old habits.

You always do, or it seems you always pull together an amazing post, every time you do one. I want to thank you for that!

And you old habits were awesome too! :))

Thank you, Denise! It's getting close to the time when I have to start another post, hope it's okay.

Oh, CHRISTMAS just warms the heart and the spirit!
Yes... let's be kind to one another! It is so easy!!!
Easy to care, easy to love. easy to spread joy!!!

https://hive.blog/hive-124452/@silversaver888/always-a-flower-in-mycalifornia

It does, doesn't it? I love this time of year, I wish it would last all year long. The extra effort people put in to be nice should be a learned behavior that they should use all the time. It isn't hard and darn it, it feels so good!

I agree with you, totally! Thanks for your words and for dropping your link!

#MarketFriday loves you!

I haven't read this yet, but I will be back later, it's just that I saw Christmas and had to open and look at all the photos to get my happy on before logging onto work for the day.

Could you post some Christmas every day?

Whatever you said, I'm sure it was good. LOLOLOL

xoxo

OK.... I'm back now and editing my comment....LOL.. .I know, you can't tell there was time between just looking, so you will have to take my word for it. I know ...sketchy....LOL So I still love it just as much. That ornament though, I'm thinking... huh? ...but ok.

Hope all is well your way. Merry Christmas !!!

I agree with you! Getting my happiness on first, well, that is just my most important thing, yes? All else is incidental. I have started my Christmas letter to the family. I update everything from medical history to family reunions and who has had new babies/boyfriends/engaged/breakups/makeups/ you get the idea. It takes a while to put together and I don't live near anyone, so I have to mail everything unless I go to visit them, which isn't possible with all the COVID still hanging about.

Are you talking about my Star of David ornament? Because, in case you didn't know, Jesus was Jewish. Shocking, isn't it? Just when you thought you knew someone. I know many Israelites don't recognize Christ, but, honestly, Christmas is no longer about that in so many ways. I keep that separate and we celebrate it as a holiday like most people, keeping the religious part where it belongs. In church. I am okay with it being secular. It is fun and so very beautiful and it brings out the very best in people. So be it.

I should post something Christmas every day and let them know how many days are left! I bet I won't have any friends left at the end of the season. :)

Thanks for the laughs, El. I hope you have a great weekend and stay dry! It is raining here tonight.

#MarketFriday loves you!

yes.... that's what I was talking about on the ornament. Once I put out a blanket message on my facebook wishing a Merry Christmas to all my friends and family..... and my sweet Jewish friend responded with a kind response about him not celebrating Christmas. Yes I know that, but that was my way of wishing everyone I knew, the best of everything I know. LOL ...and yes.... I do know Jesus was Jewish. It just made my eyebrows crooked in a humorous way to see it and yes..... I've seen it before. Oh... the irony of it all. :)

Christmas isn't about that? Ok... That made me laugh. I do realize it isn't about that to many, but to me it is.

You would still have one friend in the end, if you posted Christmas every day.

We need rain here, so if we could have some please, that would be nice. My flowers think so too.

Yes. Christmas IS about that, but, it isn't to the world anymore. It has finally almost hit its stride as a secular holiday. Yes!! I can have it both ways. Sister Brendan Marie told me I can. I must be getting old because when I was growing up, it was a religious holiday. Period. Or perhaps it was where/how I grew up?

We embraced it for what it was meant to be, and we still decorated and had a family get-together, but, it was so we could worship together, be together and break bread together.

I have many Jewish friends and they let me celebrate their holidays with their family, their way, not some secular way.

I think I will post one Christmas picture every day. I encourage you to do the same when you post. :) Let's do this!!

15304528_10154752472123832_6769171730376972505_o.jpg

Oh ! That Sister Brendan Marie would just say any old thing ! Whoever paid attention to that ???

(I'm funny... right ???)

Shoot... I would add one if I ever posted.....LOL So much other life going on, I haven't taken the time, although I do whisk in daily, throw a few votes and comments around. Trying to totally dejunk the house..... and art.... trying to get to that ! I need a clone of myself !

I am doing the same!!! I found I had accumulated again, or perhaps I just stopped moving it around, but, I have been visiting the thrift shops - oh, not to buy! Just to drop off more goodies for them to sell and add to their til. I am so behind in everything, but, yes! You need to focus on that art, woman!

Let's get those priorities straight! Happy Saturday!

Oh, yes! You are funny! :)) And Sister Brendan Marie was God-like when we were kids. She WAS the authority unless you consider Sister Agatha, the head mother... Well, she was bigger, but, not in height. But, she had the powerstick with her position.

LOL @ powerstick ! I want one of those.

Hahaha Merry Christmas! :D ...and Happy Market Friday ;)

:) Come on now @phortun !! It's only 99 days away now! :) One can never be too early or Make people aware of it. I know that you will want to seek out the most perfect gift or make the perfect gift for the love of your life. You know those kinds of gifts take time and thought.

Anyway, I just thought you might want to know that it is okay to push it up to the top of your list. :)

Hey, you!! Thanks for dropping by.

#MarketFriday loves you!

So the countdown is starting while we have only hundred days left, and i am pretty much sure about that everyone is planning, decorating and make perfect setting for up coming Christmas. I've been talking about Christmas recently, too! September begins my five favourite months of the year; September for school, October for Halloween, November for Thanksgiving, December for Christmas and, of course, January to finally get to relax from a four month marathon!

Good luck in School! Happy Halloween! Happy Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas! May you rest in Peace.

It's only 99 days away now! :) One can never be too early or Make people aware of it. Anyway, I just thought you might want to know that it is okay to push it up to the top of your list. :) And let's get cracking! Christmas will be here right after Halloween! Oh, Halloween! Am I going to get a sneak preview of what is going on at the Weibe house?

Hey, you!! Thanks for dropping by today!

#MarketFriday loves you!

What am I most looking forward top family and watching the grandkids open their presents, Something i always love, I tend to leave mine for the last minute as I am having such fun watching the others open their presents :)

Will be special this year after last year, and plan to make it as special as I can for lUlu

Here is my post for this week https://peakd.com/hive-183855/@tattoodjay/market-friday-walking-around

It's only 99 days away now! Keep track with this! https://www.xmasclock.com/ I use it every year. :) It is all about the family, isn't it? This is going to be an amazing year for all of you. Your real "first" for being there with the family. It is going to be nice. Do they have a ritual that happens on Christmas or do they wing it?

This is going to be the second Christmas for me that the entire family isn't together. My immediate family is here, but, the extended is relegated to their own states again. There is just too much going on right now in the various places they live. I will admit to being a little sad, but, happy that they are all doing well and remain that way. I did find out my niece who moved to Florida ten days ago just tested positive, had her car hit, and had a tooth abccess. One week? I would be running back home. Yikes. I told her she didn't need to move to Florida to get Covid, but, it was much quicker. :)

Anyway, I am grateful that you get to make it up to Lulu. She and you deserve to have a lovely holiday this year! Thank you for dropping the link to me!

#MarketFriday loves you!

You Know till reading your comment i had not really thought about it being our first real Christmas here, that's so true

Its a bit of a mix between ritual and winging it here, and as it is a first its a little different as other Christmas we were staying with them, or they with us, but the plan will no doubt us be up early, well not early for me but for Lulu, and head there for breakfast possibly in our PJ's and we have Christmassy PJ's for the occasion.
then the present opening begins once everyone is up and awake, and just a fun time with lots of laughter and fun

WOW what a week for your niece, and not having the extended family all together must be sad but make the most of it, I guess you know its only 97 days 14 hours 47 minutes and a few seconds away as I write this

Hahah! Indeed! I love my little timer! :)) I love the PJ's part. We have them too and use them for that exact thing! :)

That is something I had never experienced the Christmas PJ s I love it
I am now pondering new ones fir this year

Oh, you will love it! We stay in them until every box is unwrapped and brunch is done. Want to have fun with Lulu?

Google Christmas PJs for men and women. :) Have a blast!

Edit: Get flannel! It's winter in New England!

Will do that for sure

OMG, already can't believe this year is almost over and seems we haven't progress much at all with what's been happening let's hope next year will be a better one :)

Dropping my link to you have a great day @dswigle :)

https://ecency.com/hive-163772/@tinman88/hiking-to-bang-pae-waterfall

Can you believe it? I know I can't. I feel like we have been living in limbo, but, for you, it is not quite as bad. I mean, you cannot go home, but, really? Boohoo? Hardly! :) I am sure you are enjoying it so much, I still say you may never go home, except to visit. The progress we have made is close to zero and it doesn't look as if they are going anywhere with anything. Seems like Covid is ramping up in Thailand or are those just excitable news people lately? My hope is next year and we will see, won't we? Although, there doesn't have to be much improvement to beat the last two years, does it?

What do you do for your Christmas in Thailand? Are you ritualistic? or is it so different, you do everything differently? Thanks so much for taking the time to make the post, then dropping the link for me!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Sadly the world is living in limbo like chickens with there heads cut of not knowing what direction any of this is going to go but one think, I am so happy I am here and not in Australia right now and don't think I will be going back there anytime soon as you say life is better here right now.

Not bonded to any rituals but if, I was back home it would be Christmas dinner with family over here it will be drinks and bbq with a few friend maybe back at that slice of heaven on the mountains :)

Hey! You know what? I don't think that you can go wrong staying right where you are and celebrating in place. I am so glad that you are having a good time with it and you wait for the world to recover.

You know you are absolutely right and like @world-travel-pro I am staying right where, I am couldn't be more happier :)

Have a great day @dswigle :)

Recently, I learnt that the Philippines community start in the month of ber.
Early in September. For us here, still early. We have mid-Autumn coming.
Here is my two homework:

  1. https://hive.blog/hive-105017/@ace108/marketfriday-to-food-court-to-get-mandu-ramyun-or-by-ace108
  2. https://hive.blog/hive-105017/@ace108/marketfriday-friday-walk-for-lunch-or-by-ace108

As you know from living here, we don't really start that early, but, people think about it, especially in these days of quarantine. We still have Halloween and Thanksgiving/Christmas are almost combined, or at least forgiveness is given if you put a few things up at Thanksgiving. :)

The Philippines start very early! I know they start in September! I cannot believe it! Although, I would probably be okay with that! :)

https://www.xmasclock.com/ That will help you keep track of it! :)

Do you celebrate Christmas, Ace? IF you do, how are your traditions? I think I will write a post on it. Thanks for the idea. :) Thanks for dropping your links here!

I love the Santa Tracker! It must be based in China as it reads 95 days when it is 96 days and 12 hours here. :)

It's run by Google do i doubt if it us based in china. Anyway, come time they will countdown per local time

I remember you wrote that people in your country start preparing for Christmas in September. I never cease to be amazed at this. Christmas tree toy with a Star of David? !!! Wow!!!!! although many Israelites do not recognize Christ, more and more young people in Israel are beginning to celebrate Christmas. To do this, they fly to Europe. although I saw that some shops were selling Christmas tree decorations.
https://ecency.com/hive-196308/@tali72/unexpected-purchase

Honestly, I don't start yet! Oh, well maybe starting a few incidental things. Time is never my own, so I have started my Christmas letter to the family. I update everything from medical history to family reunions and who has had new babies/boyfriends/engaged/breakups/makeups/ you get the idea. It takes a while to put together and I don't live near anyone, so I have to mail everything unless I go to visit them, which isn't possible with all the COVID still hanging about.

Hmm what is this Christmas you speak of? It looks rather colorful. And it appears that food is involved, so I'd probably like it. Off to research Christmas now.

I am pretty sure you would! Check it out!

And here is my entry : https://hive.blog/gems/@kamrunnahar/market-friday-goes-to-buy-diverse-items-of-fruits-and-vegetables-from-street-market

I do love the decorating that we do! It is fun and all the children are involved.

I am looking forward to sugarplums and fairies. Thanks for dropping your link! Here are some lights on the house!

Haha! I like to be first and early!! :) It also gives me time to select/makes gifts for those I love. I do love Christmas as people really do treat people nicer than the rest of the year. I am not sure why we cannot do it, all year long? Wouldn't that make this such a wonderful world?

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words! Thank you for the pizza! LUV token and Alive token! Have an amazing day! https://www.xmasclock.com/ Here is a countdown to Christmas! That is always fun and keeps me honest with how many days are left!

So true, it could only make things better if we held onto the Christmas spirit all year long :) ... Maybe they had the right idea with Christmas in July. I wonder if they might consider leaving the decorations up year round?
!PIZZA !ALIVE

Of course, you do know that I did a Christmas in July post, right? I just can't resist adding a little bit more of that Spirit to the year. Thank you so much for the pizza and the alive tokens!

I actually missed that one :( So many posts, so little time :( ... Maybe Santa could bring me a time machine this year 🙏

It was my pleasure to send you a small gift :)

What is it that you are most looking forward to. I will say up front that family, getting all together. It just doesn't get any better than that.

That is the main point of Christmas. Christmas is the holiday of love, and not the "giving expensive gifts" (love is completely free).

Many people get stressed about giving gift around Christmas.

By the way, nowadays I live alone. Today (2021.09.17) is my 29th birthday. I spend it alone. Just like Christmas. We (my mother, my brother and me) used to spend it together until 2017. On 2017.12.17, just one week before Christmas, our mother died. We (my brother and me) moved to different settlements around the middle of 2018. I live alone since then. He lived and live with various people and various families and in various cities/villages. Sometimes I did not even know where. Nowadays I know it. Sometimes we even meet personally, but rarely.

I am really sorry that life handed you such hardships, I truly am. I know that doesn't help, but, it is the best I have. There are others that will be alone, you are not the only one. I encourage you to seek out those and make a holiday of your own. Don't you work with anyone who is single and alone? Maybe even call your brother.

BTW : Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you did something nice for yourself.

Thank you for the encouraging words, and for the birthday wish too.

My brother (and other people) wrote to me on Facebook to wish me happy birthday. My (step?)father called me on the phone to wish me happy birthday, strength and health.

This is a difficult story. I thought that my real father died in 1997, but maybe this is not true. Only a DNA test could give a 100% answer, but that is very expensive.

My former housemate wished me happy birthday personally (there was a short time when I lived in a shared house, we had two separate rooms).

So all in all, these things felt good, but I still spent my birthday alone.

I give you some !PIZZA and !LUV.

@dswigle, you've been given LUV from @xplosive.

Check the LUV in your H-E wallet. (1/1)

@dswigle! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @xplosive.

Learn more about $PIZZA Token at hive.pizza (4/10)

It sounds pretty nice to me. I am glad that some people were able to send you wishes. It feels nice, even if it is just for a moment. I string those moments together sometimes to make a nice day.

Well, we can all count and figure without a DNA test. Does he accept you as his son? That is important also, as it doesn't matter if there is blood if there is no relationship. Right? I checked online and they do have cheap DNA tests for $49 USD which is cheaper than they ever were, but, you might be able to find something now as the prices have really gone way down.

Does he accept you as his son?

Yes, of course he accept me as his son. He was the one, who mentioned the option of the DNA test ("only a DNA test could tell this"), when I visited him a few months ago at the house, where we grew up. He still lives there. He even invited me to eat some sweets at the nearby cake shop (I could freely choose a dessert, he bought two of my choice for me - a slice of cake -, plus he also bought a soft drink chosen by me, and he also bought some for himself), and gifted me a syrup bottle and 2000 HUF (currently approximately $6.70 USD) ($1 USD is currently 298.40 HUF) to "buy something more than the train ticket home". I still have some of the syrup.

Based on our meeting, I have a very strong feeling that he is my real father, and I also think that a step father would not do these things.

I have a paper from the hospital, in which I was born. His name is written in the field of "Father (or guardian)". But there is another name on my birth certificate. The name of my (step?)father, who died in 1997.

Why would the hospital write the name of my stepfather, instead of the real one? Why would I even have a stepfather at the time of my birth?

I have so many questions.

I checked online and they do have cheap DNA tests for $49 USD

Where we live, the test is around 55 000 HUF, which is approximately $184.32 USD.

Well, that makes all the difference in the world. So, he is listed as your father, so what line (or where) did they list the other name, the stepfather (?) who passed away in 1997? Also in the father block? The hospital will write down whoever your mother told them is the father. If I say that Jacob is the father of my kids, they will write his name down. If I say Paul instead, they will write that down. So, it is my guess that is what your mother told them, that he is the father. Why not ask him? I am pretty sure he knows the answer to this. If you are basically alone or homeless, why haven't you asked to stay with him until things get better for you?

He seems to be a concerned, kind person. I do not know what kind of relationship you have.

Your father may even be willing to have a DNA test done. What would change if he were your father instead of your stepfather or vice versa? @xplosive

Amazon does not offer free shipping to Hungary. You'll normally have to pay around 3,000 HUF to have your Amazon purchase shipped to Hungary, and you may have to pay more if you're buying multiple items or your purchase is heavy or bulky. Most Amazon packages in Hungary will be delivered by Magyar Posta.

Thanks for the Pizza and LUV!

The Star of David is there! I got him about 20 years ago and I love him. I have friends that are Jewish and they really like to see it up there, although it has shocked some of the older people. It is a modern society and many of my Jewish friends have always put up a tree and treated it as a secular holiday.

It actually is my favorite ornament. :)

What a wonderful and uplifting post!

So many great ideas there for everyone to share and think about too.

Nice one @dswigle

I'm not really into xmas- it's a family thing I think, but I do LOVE the COLOURS it brings...I always recommend people have orphans parties at xmas...like you said, invite someone that may be a bit lonely, well there's always plenty of lonely people at xmas and I'm sure there will be even more this coming xmas....

Though I do remember having a white xmas once in Aspen...that was pretty special...(coloured lights reflect waaay better off the white snow...lol..😂.)

I can't believe that it is nearly here again cause I remember last xmas just like it was...well not quite yesterday, but just a few months ago.

I went to stay with my dad and brother for 2 weeks and then they closed the border on me the day before I was due to come back to Melbs and I got stuck up there for 2 mnths....

I would laugh (😱😡😭) if that happens again this year....

I think we might even still be in some form of lockdown by then...maybe...maybe not...who knows...

Either way I'll be happy to celebrate the New year...(that's more my things...)

Well, yikes! That is a bummer. Forced living with the family. That is a crime in some families. :) It is beyond inconvenient though, isn't it? I disagree with the family thing for Christmas. I think it may be more fun, but, single or married with a family, I have always loved it. But, who doesn't say I'm not a little Looney Tunes, yes? :))

Time is already flying I have started my Christmas letter to the family. I update everything from medical history to family reunions and who has had new babies/boyfriends/engaged/breakups/makeups/ you get the idea.

It's only 97 days away now! :) I am looking forward to sugarplums and fairies and maybe a few Christmas Hallmark movies with my girls. My guys, not so much. I have time. I am not rushing anything. When will you go home to see family?

Wow just how many hours do you have in your day! Do you ever sleep??

You are such a prolific and quality creator on Hive, how on earth do you have any time to update everything from medical history to family reunions and who has had new babies/boyfriends/engaged/breakups/makeups/ you get the idea. and spend time with your fam And plan the whole xmas event???

Wish I had your super powers- or that extra few hours a days that you seem to have lol...

We're still in lockdown until...borders are closed, so I can't get across anyway and then when we finally are able to get back to work, I'll need to work my arse off to make up the money to pay the rent that I haven't been able to for the past couple of months...so xmas visit with my dad n brother VS paying rent....tough decision...

Haha! Fair question! I update all year long in a document, so it is not that difficult a task to put it all together. I have each person's name and things that are major that are in their life and write a little something about it at the time. When you do it all year long, it only takes minutes. Planning the event is easy. It is always at my house because mine will accommodate everyone or most everyone. Some bring an RV and that makes more room. Most time will take it out to the Shore House which accommodates more and has more land. (and beach, even if it is in the winter)

I like to sleep, but, never seem to need very much and am usually pretty well-rested. I like doing these things little at a time, so spend more time doing it, but, spread over the year, it makes it doable. No superpowers needed, Just uber-organized. (ha! that is what I keep telling myself anyway) We have been fortunate here to be able to continue working and most of the kids that live home (or moved back during lockdown) telecommute, even now, we know we have been lucky. I hope you are able to get back to work without a problem and settle those financials that is plaguing the world right now. I apologize, but, where are you that your border is still closed and where will you be going back to?

I so wish I were that organised and well rested...

I'm sure that you guys have a incredible xmas, just the way that you described it then, I could see it in my minds eye almost as if I was there....

All of our national borders are closed to each and have been again since August 5th and we can't travel more than (as of yesterday..) 10kms outside our residential zone, before yesterday it has been 5km radius.

So like last year, there is zero reason a persona can travel across the borders and if you abslutely have to you must apply for a permit- and 99% of them get declined.

My home town is only an hour north of the NSW/Vic border- so a 9hour distance to travel north and it is only a small place- 4500 people and nowhere near Sydney- about 7hours south of Sydney infact, but they also went into hard lockdown when Sydney did, even though they have zero cases there the entire time. their premier has done a really BAD job of handling this wave of Covid...

That's the absurd part about it, all of NSW went into lockdown when it was only Sydney that is getting the 1000+ cases a day (there were a couple of other larger regional towns that had a small handful of cases too, but they were all up around Sydney anyway...

This is here I grew up. Stunning area...lol...

This is the area that the massive bushfires went through in 2019/2020 surrounded my home town, burnt down my school friends houses (and everyone elses..) in Cobargo and I got out and back to Melbourne about 2 days before the fires hit the area

Famous markets there too...Interesting...no vids on the markets there....hmmmm, well there you go- a future post from me- when I can get up there...lol...https://www.escapetomerimbula.com.au/event-details/candelo-markets-8

Thanks for the information, I'll try to go grocery shopping this Friday :)

That would be lovely. I hope you get a chance. If you don't get a chance, there is always another week. We are used to breaks in service and time. :)

Yes, thanks !

I can't believe we're coming to that time of the year again as I'm not visiting the shopping malls as regularly as I used to! Like you, this is a season I love as it's the time of families and friends getting together; I'm really looking forward to that!

I love the idea of the Christmas letter to keep the family updated, your family certainly are blessed to have someone as caring and warm-hearted as you @dswigle, time consuming but what a wonderful idea and I'm sure something they all look forward to each year!
I just love Christmas as it's a time of getting together with those very special people in our lives; good to start thinking of gifts now already!

It is time-consuming, but, there are nine kids in my family and all of my mother and father's side had big families, so there are always many to keep up with. When someone tells me /emails/texts new info, I put it on the list and constantly update the letter, all year long. It started when I one of my cousins had an aneurism and asked me if someone had one in the family, so now I added on the medical history of the immediate family and their kids. It is actually pretty helpful and we found that my great-great-grandmother died of an aneurysm, as did my brother, at 35 and his son just had one. It seems to be a tad genetic, although they had always thought it wasn't.

I love getting together with special people! If I don't think of gifts now, I am too rushed!

Thanks again! You are the best!

Oh my! You brought Christmas early to us! Haha. Christmas is my favourite time of the year because it's about the loving and giving. The cheer spreads everywhere and everyone becomes nicer! I love listening to carols, visiting friends and watching those Hallmark movies! 😄

Each year is always special. Now we prepare for this year's celebration and hope it's brings more goodness! Thanks for this heartwarming Christmasy #marketfriday post. 😍

In my country, we hardly give gifts during Christmas, it is mostly food and parties.

I can't wait too.
Thank you for the love.

I understand. Even here, it is the same. It just depends on how you were raised and what your customs are. Either way, it is a most wonderful time of the year, with or without gifts!

It is all about the people!

Yeah, all about family.
