It's been a bit slow on the blockchain lately so I thought I'd do something different with the #weekend-engagement to help me find some great new users to follow and curate.

I've had to dig deep to locate users to support this week. I don't know why so many I would normally see pop up have pulled back, but life goes on and I'm on the hunt for new users to interact and engage with, and to curate personally and for @curangel.

I appreciate this opportunity to promote new and talentd hivers. You have already interacted with my daughters, @imabby17 and @manujune. Abby has not been posting as frequently as she'd like too, but she is an outstanding artist with a gift for cartoon drawing and photography. I hope she can get back on track and gives you all guys her talents.
I want to recommend also an account that is unique here on Hive because it is a whole talented and beautiful family sharing their musical talent and their environmental concern. I’m talking about @carlosehijos55. My recommendation is not without a bias because Carlos happens to be my cousin. That makes Edgar and Adrian my grand cousins, I guess?
Carlos is an educator, one of the many Venezuelan teachers who had to quit their jobs because they are poorly paid and appreciated.
He did a lot to promote folk music and environmental education. His sons are following his footsteps and have become his partners in “crime”. They make a wonderful trio and all of them, including little Adrian, can compose great songs and perform multiple instruments.
They are at their best when they perform as a family!
They have even produced their own musical videos where the little ones steal the show giving their first steps as actors.

Thanks, and she is our cousin, although we have not had the chance to share in person (we live 2 hours away, but it has been hard to travel for years now). She has been a motivation for us. She got us in contact with some accounts that organize musical contests and challenges and that has allowed us to organize our repertoir and projects

I like the commitment of this weekend very much, so I want to introduce you to two people who are just starting out and are my children from the beehive.
One of them is my brother, and I would like him not to lose his motivation when he starts @santacruzcross and the other person is a hard-working and enterprising woman. We do not know each other personally, but we are united and she decided to be trained by me.
Both have learned very quickly, she is @soymagaoz.
And to conclude, there is also a person, who I recently met through a publication and is doing a job like yours of giving value to a good commentary @elcomentador.

hmmm well I'm digging the lightpainters right now @fastchrisuk and his crew create some stunning effects with lights, lazers, smoke and stuff using abandoned building or old historical buildings as backdrops. Well worth a poke around their posts. Also @discoveringarni writes some really excellent blogs. I wish I had her patience with writing and flow.
Hmmmmmmm. That lightpainting business really intrigues me, I'll check @fastchrisuk out for sure.

ENGAGEtokens.I have been following @kidsisters since she came on to @hive most recently and for a young girl Srey-Yuu has a lot of potential and is a clever little girl helping her family , going to school , learning 3 or 4 other languages , encouraging other young kids to come on to @hive by having done a couple of TV shows for @hive and been dedicate to @hive by posting almost every day she is a little superstar in my eyes and deserves more recognition she will go a long way here and is already on the right path towards that great achievement 🙂

Today I want to introduce you to a very special girl who, although I don't know her personally, I know she was born in the town where I was born, and she is simply an artist.
This young lady with a noble heart and a pure soul has made several drawings that you can see Here and Here, she plays the violin, the cuatro, the ukulele, the guitar and the piano. Also, a few days ago she did a make-up inspired by the work of a great Venezuelan artist, his name is Cruz Diez, you can see it Here
I placed some old and new publications for you to get to know her and her art, however, the most characteristic thing about @manujune is her voice. In this recent publication she appears playing the piano and singing a Queen's song.
This girl inspires good vibes and joy, and all her publications are worthwhile.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your commendation. We do our best. It's tough these days to keep kids focused on what matters. So many distractions, and in the case of venezuela, so many sources of dispair and discouragement. It's a constant battle. But she's exceptional, no question about it.
It must be difficult for so many over there. I was talking to my wife about it only yesterday, the disparity in your lives there, and other places, and life in Australia. A twist of fate and maybe I could have been born there you know?

Another id like to throw out there for consideration is @justclickindiva. She writes a lot in the freewriters community. She posts pretty frequently and branches out into a lot of other communities. Shes down to earth and pretty funny at times. Her posts usually get between a dollar to two. I think on many she deserves better.

Balancing out hive time between engagement and writing, plus life in the real world is a constant struggle, especially for one who wants to build here on the platform. Engagement is so important to that as posting good content alone, with no engagement, doesn't seem to gain people much traction. It sounds like you have discovered a reasonable balance though, so all the best with that. Don't forget to read this post and maybe throw your hat in the ring for the delegation prize...If you want of course.

Yeah, she does a decent job which I hope she maintains. Longevity can be an issue here, it's not the easiest thing. It can be done though, many have been around for three years plus and are still rockin' it.
Yep it's not only about writing a post you need that time to get out to collect new material which can be time consuming but we all find a way if we are keen enough 👍
And that's the hook, being keen enough. So many just can't be bothered and so inject shit to the blockchain with the expectation of getting paid for it. If only they knew how much effort went into it.l, and how rewarding it can be.
This is true i haven't been here long and i have seen some worthless shit why bother and embarrass yourself and risk of no one visiting your post you either do it right or take a hike is my motto 😅

I first met Isabel when she joined our Terminal discord and enrolled in our Redfish Rally Monthly Delegation program. I knew from the 1st week that she would win the monthly delegation. And I certainly wasn't surprised when she won the next month.
She was an excellent example of someone on Hive who wants to succeed. Of course, the Rally ends for a participant when they reach 500 HP and becomes a Minnow.

As you may know, life is not easy in her country of Venezuela due to the current economical and political climate. So many individuals joined Hive in hopes to better themselves. But not only that, some see it as their lifeline in being able to meet daily living expenses.
Many times, people in some regions can't engage or publish due to intermittent internet connections. But the desire is there. Also, several of our participants in the Rally reported not being able to get online for days or a couple weeks at a time.
I feel Isabel will be a success on Hive. Please consider her to be placed on your list for additional exposure in her journey on Hive.

Hi there and thanks for your recommendation. Isabel actually responded to this post already, and has done so occasionally in the past. I think she's even won some free hive from it in past weeks. I understand how difficult it is for people in some parts of the world which is why I do this whole #weekend-engagement thing in the first place; To help people advance, and as a reason to give them something for their efforts as sometimes their posts are not well rewarded.

I really like this weeks topic! I’ve found it quite sad that numerous people we’ve engaged with have thrown in the towel for one reason or another. Some of them were very successful on here! I would be interested in learning what led them astray but alas, not a lot we can do.
I think you might already follow a great guy I came across a few months ago @rmsadkri, I’ve seen him in the comments for your posts I think!
I would like to bring forth another great guy from the Netherlands, @invest4free that’s been on here for a few months. His wife’s due to have a baby soon I think so I don’t know if he will be a lot more tied up but he’s got some great posts and philosophies on life, investing and business. I’ve come to enjoy seeing his posts and interacting with him over the past couple months. He’s a solid person to have here on the platform with us! He’s one of the ones that put the Click Track Profit (CTP) community on my radar. They are a pretty great group of people!

Ah glad to see that you already d have with them. Unfortunately I don’t have many newer people to recommend! Before I dropped my comment I checked out my latest follows and I have some promising ones from the past few days but they are brand new so it’s hard to tell.
The latest one from today has written the best introduction post I’ve seen in a long time. Promising indeed but it’s his first post and no one touched it for 2 days until I saw it. Hoping we didn’t lose him but it’s @notatravelwriter he seems like he could be a great addition but you never know.
Yep, I'm always careful with the really new ones; Welcoming of course, but so many promise the world and deliver nothing so I tend to wait until they've shows a little more than a. Intro post before I get too involved. I couldn't even tell you how many I've personally welcomed on their intro posts, (I don't do the cut and paste thing as I feel it looks spammy) and yet received nothing in reply. So...I'll only reward people who actively inject effect. Reward for no effort isn't my thing here, or I'm real life.
Yeah I’m trying to give them the tools I wish I had when I started to get to know things. We can only guide them, it’s their choice to continue or to give up. In my time in the new and introduction section I have made 6 great new followers and members of the community. Two listed here and some not. I think with a fairly small sized platform compared to others that’s pretty good!
I think it's good to give them something to work with, your cut and paste comment seems to cover a lot, no need for more from others. I take the more personal approach, offer my help, none take it, and so to me they disappear into oblivion.
You seem to have had some good results. I think if more of the better established users did a little something to help then things would improve, but that doesn't seem to be the way it's done.

ENGAGEtokens.I have been keeping my eye on a couple fellow artists whose work has been pretty impressive. Art can be a category to get lost in. There is a lot of talent on Hive and there is a lot of ..... 'content' to sift through to find that talent at times. @kevmcc is very consistent and hasn't gotten the recognition that his talent deserves. @damoclesart has some really great artwork too.
Gonna get my weekend post sorted... since my name got tossed in the hat! Gonna have a tough time keeping it under 300 words! hahahhaha

@notacinephile He read and reviews really deep literature. He's forced me to read a couple of books in the last month.. He says he isn't a cinephile but he tosses in a movie review every now and then. Deep thought and well written. Been on Hive about 3 months and looks like he's going to leave a mark.
@unklebonehead Been on Hive about 3 months and has asked every newbie question known to man and a few that were absolutely new. Had a show on MSP before he had a month on the platform. Drives a truck (long haul) for his day job, and still manages to post several times a week. He's sharing the stories of his newbieness and is just a good guy!

I have to tell you. This started a little slowly and I thought it was going to fizzle. Silly me. It's just great and seems to be building as the weekend goes along...
I believe this week is the most valuable #weekend-engagement topic I've done, certainly for the community at large...We all need each other, and new people. to make this thing fly and it's good to see people jumping on board with their suggestions, not least of which were your own.
I've followed maybe 10 or 12 so far, and I guard my feed pretty jealously. It did make me realize that it's not the chain that has slowed so much it's my feed. This has been really good for me....

Nice idea G-dog! Fabulous use of the WE initiative and a great reminder to all that this is something we should all do from time to time.
As you mentioned when things dry up a little on the chain, it's nice to have a teeming list of active posters and engagers so you always have a place to go to find the lifeblood of our community.
I have had a slightly barren spell of blockchain time of late myself due to various reasons I won't delve in to today BUT I always have several post-it notes next to my trust PC reminding me of people I want to leave some really meaningful comments for. The reason I am particularly annoyed at myself is because I KNOW that for some users, particularly if they are newer, the time to leave a fabulous welcoming comment may well be the difference between staying around or heading for the hills. I have seen some amazing writers leave here in my time and I felt gutted about some of hem as I really believe they added to the community.
Two people I am a little annoyed at myself for not getting a chance to interact with fully yet are who I will mention today.
The first name I see glaring at me from a shocking pink post-it note is @inderpreetgill.
Inderpreet writes simple posts. They are not particularly long, but I am always struck by a joy and enthusiasm in her words. She writes some poetry, shares some art which is above all fun ((a massive plus for me with artistic offerings)). She writes with an optimism and hope and I would like to see her receiving a little more engagement on her posts as she keeps on posting despite the lack of attention.
That tells me something, I am happy to know.
The second user I keep meaning to spend some time engaging with and leaving some meaningful encouragement on his posts is @notacinephile although we have interacted a little I believe he deserves a lot more attention for the effort he puts in to his posts, his effortless writing style, charming personality that shines through and insatiable thirst for knowledge is great to see.
Also I think book reviews are seen as an uncool, bygone pastime and I couldn't disagree more, as an avid reader I relate to his literary reviews and have on more than one occasion been disarmed by the emotion that he describes he feels when he becomes entrenched in a story.
As a self confessed engager, I berate myself a little when I cross paths with fabulous community members and do not have the time to engage in the way I would hope, although I know that when I have the time I will spend an entire day catching up with those I have noted down on my 'must catch-up with' list.
Kudos to you Galen. Always looking for a chance to shine a light in the direction of those who deserve it. Hope your weekend has been a good one mate and the week ahead, better still. :)
Hey mate, I'm glad you were able to find the time to suggest a couple of users. One has been mentioned before and I've had some interaction with and the other is new to me...Like you say, sometimes a little commenting can make all the difference to a new user and it's so important to offer them valid comments initially, not cut and pasted one, but personal messages of encouragement. In that way they may feel more a part of something and may be inclined to hang around a little. Such an important thing for the community and blockchain.

It really does. I had only a few engagements in my posts but I know some will read and most importantly, I'm also writing for myself. That is perhaps the most important thing that drove me out of Facebook.
I like the rewards, all kinds of them. Not gonna deny that! :)
I'm influenced by the people I read as well and looking back, I wouldn't have it any other way. The people no longer read are in the majority and its a sad thing. It's their loss. However, I heard there is a spike in readers' numbers recently and younger people are taking up books in their hands. I don't know whether they read or just photoshoot the books for Instagram, since that spike is from the sales chart I believe, but generally, it can be a good sign.
I will drink to that. Oh, all my friends and family members call me by my nickname which is Amor, you're welcome to it as well. :)
I don't have that insecurity about hive anymore, I think. I got the hang of it mostly.

@galenkp. And anyone who isn't already aware. @coloneljethro resides in Louisville, Kentucky, USA and he's been covering the current protests which exist today (as in right now) since March--2020.
He's a photographer by trade, the images he captures are superior to most--he's the first photographer I've seen capture helicopters flying above where you can identify lettering on the blades. He's since evolved to reporting on the current events. If not for him, I wouldn't know near as many specifics currently taking place in his hometown. His writing has also evolved and he's painting excellent pictures with both his camera and his print.
Whoever is learning of him for the first time, do yourself a favor and stop by his page.

@kneelyrac does travel blogs and it's a delight to read them. She usually writes in detail about the places with lots of stunning photos. She also does book reviews and writes poetry.
@stevenson7 does photography, portraits are dominant among his works. But once you get to know him, he has a good taste in music as well. I loved sharing songs with him.
@WanderingMoon has some cute kitties but I like her short sci-fi stories. They are quite good and I think deserve more readers.
@imabby17 is an artist who draws cartoons and they are pretty good!

Thank you as well. This seems like a nice initiative that actively focuses on the interaction—which I believe is more important than great content for any social media to succeed.
A balance of both would be nice I think, one feeds off the other. Let's hope my small efforts have an effect over time although it would be nice to see each and every user put aside their own personal gains for a second and help others; I think we would have a better blockchain if that was to occur.
I very much concur with that view and I think I failed to word my thoughts properly. I'm not putting off quality content (I actually like to believe I'm making them myself haha) but they aren't always essential for a successful social media. Take Instagram and Facebook, for example, they feed off envy, jealousy, greed, and depression — but spontaneous interaction is there!
If we can get both quality content and interaction at the same time — that's marvellous and I hope hive can take that route in the long run.
Let's hope we all start pulling in the same direction as a community and assisting the new people who come on board by setting a good example and offering a leg up when they need. I'm not a fan of any of the social medias and have none of them, so hive is it for me. I hope the best for it, as do many others.

Sometimes I feel that they receive few votes for the incredible work they do but there I am always trying to collaborate with my vote of 0.001 hahaha. I don't know if this is against the rules but this topic excites me a lot and I feel that I can't just mention one person because I've met more than one of whose publications I've become a fan. That's why I present you @orianabeam @maryed @freidimar18 and @heleana18. How would I describe her blogs? I consider that they don't focus on a specific topic, they just enjoy being part of Hive and they write about some personal stories, they’re part of make-up and writing initiatives, among others where they show their talent, prepare recipes, etc. I'm sorry, I got incredibly sensitive, I know, but this is an opportunity to get out of the shell and let them know how well they do their job, in my opinion. hahaha... my gaming posts have been more about the memories surrounding the games growing up in a nostalgic sense. I realize that won't connect with everyone. I don't play many video games anymore... but i did grow up with them. The last post about gaming was centered around the development of the First Person Shooter genre. That would slightly appeal to you being a real shooter.
I was researching for a follow-up post from the contest and came across an interesting story behind the games. My stuff is mostly art and photography...
And here i thought Taraz was the engagement master... this is your last comment i needed to followup on and .... now i can go get to work. hahaha
I used to play games in years past, it just doesn't fit into my life at the moment. I played Ghost Recon. Loved it. Played a few other FPS games but also recall the one that started it all...Duck hunt! 😂
Yeah, don't worry, Taraz is the king of everything...I'm the court jester. Seriously though, I engage a bit now and then as I enjoy it a lot. So, I'm sure we'll do so again. Maybe lengthy communications on the various nuances of Dunk Hunt. 😉
Maybe my next tour de force will be a post on duck hunt nostalgia... though i referenced it in the FPS post! hahahaha Don't vote on it... but when/if you get time... you should read it and see if it envokes the gamer in you. I brought a little bit of the inner gamer child out in Taraz for the gaming post prior to. I am the Jack of all trades but master of none in this court.... speaking of which ... i have a song to share!
The people that come to my mind immediately are; My guiding and helpful friend @damla in the 1st Turkish community is @daveks, whose photos I follow with interest.

ENGAGEtokens.Hi. We are new in the platform and do not speak english. We use google translator for our post and to interact with other who write in english. We have a lot of problems with electricity and phone services and that makes it difficult to participate more here.
In any case, we thank those who have supported us and would like to recommend some users who have given us some encouragement, write good posts and do not always receive rewards.
The first one is @acostacazorla. When he knew about us and that we were from Carupano, his hometown, he was very nice in his comments to our first posts. He is a writer (https://peakd.com/gems/@acostacazorla/mi-primer-cuento) and poet (https://peakd.com/spanish/@acostacazorla/hermano-de-soledades-pintar-con-palabras-club-de-poesia-6-de-agosto-de-2020). He also writes chronicles of his personal life with so much heart (https://peakd.com/gems/@acostacazorla/la-gimnasia-de-la-vida).
He does not always write in english, but it is worth running his text through a translator to appreciate what he does. He is very funny (https://peakd.com/gems/@acostacazorla/la-cuarentena-y-mi-figura) and he likes to respond comments with decimas (a 10 verse-composition). My father was a decimista and I write a lot of those too, so, I appreciate what he does because that is something that less people are doing because it is considered a minor form of poetry.
Another user that deserves some attention is @itsjunevelasquez. She is a young poet and fiction writer (https://peakd.com/hive-170798/@itsjunevelasquez/the-bridge-a-short-story). Thanks for your suggestions, I hope that in you placing them here they receive a little more activity on their posts. It makes it difficult for those who don't read the language as translators often do a terrible job of converting the text which then makes posts really difficult to read. Still, there's ways around it I guess, building ones brand around those that speak the language is one of them.

Regarding the main challenge, I have two candidates for you to take a look at.
Although I know that you are a tough man of arms to take, I also know that you are a lover of books, although I do not know what you think of poetry. In this sense, @nachomolina's writings will seem very interesting to you, although he writes primarily in Spanish, his prose is very correct so if you transfer it to English with any translator on the internet, it will maintain the essence of what is written.
The other one that I want to suggest to you is a 21-year-old young man who recently joined the @therobertx community. He has a lot of talent for drawings done in charcoal, and I have also seen how careful he is in the writing and marking of the posts. At the beginning I published every day, now it has an average break of three days. I guess it's while drawing or some other collateral factor that I'm unaware of. Your work is very good.

Hello, my friend, we are doing well despite the circumstances. I hope they are well, there in your country. Reading some posts in the community, I observed that in some regions of Australia the restrictions are as strong as here, curfew and time and traffic restrictions.
I hope you appreciate the positive in the suggested authors.

Yes, Melbourne, a city of over 4 million people has a curfew, people cannot travel further than 5km from home and are only allowed out for 1 hour a day. Very strictly enforced too!
Oh yeah, I want to join the everyday is the weekend club too! 😁
I regret the situation of the inhabitants of Melbourne, little by little the control of the state to the detriment of individual freedoms for fear of the pandemic. Although I complain about the situation itself, now I am more concerned with seeing how it spreads in various parts of the world.
If really @ bigtom13's superpower is higher than Superman's. Create a justice league or avengers, sounds great. Hahaha
I understand the need for control measures to mitigate the virus risk, perceived or real, however I think it could be done better. However having said that, I think people would complain either way, it's what they do naturally.

I'd like to nominate a new guy named @melbourneswest. Hes an aussie who does posts high lightng south east australia. He does all sorts of locations but the photography is always good as is his write up on the location. Checking out his posts is a good way to see parts of australia that some might not knkw about or are off the beaten path.

@lacking is a good guy who doesn't get the attention he deserves. He has an interesting life. He lives up by the artic circle in canada in a tiny town. He sts almost every day with photos of life up in the artic circle and with whats going on around his area. He usually writes a good post to go along with the pictures. He also branches out into other areas with his posts too. But the quality is always consistent.
Good stuff mate, just the sort of people I'm looking for. I'll check him out. Thanks for taking the time to put him on my radar. Nice work.

Im gonna suggest @lucianv. She does make up vids on 3Speak. She caught my eye because shes been doing some viking inspired stuff that just looks too cool not to notice. They are more of a makeup fx type than beauty stuff. Pretty cool to watch.

I think they say better late than never!!! I wanted to suggest a @rollinshive at the time this post was published but I noticed he had not been active for a while which made me held on and totally forgot to check by him when I confirmed he was active again. I'm probably sure you might have had series of engagement with him because he is great at it.
He is a hive hustler like me who is great at engaging with other users and trying best to make good contents unlike me that is slacking a little bit because of work activities that has been taking my time from making good engagement but at least I am try my best to go round during my free time.

Also, not to mention @heroldius, the first person I've followed organically since I joined old Steemit nearly a year ago now. He's a loving car enthusiast too, sharing tidbits of classic and special automobiles from times past, and I've genuinely learned new things from them. I'd like to think that we both helped to grow the car community here on the Hive, although more on his (and others) parts 😁.
I might've considered writing 300 words about my weekend, but so far anyways, it sucks. My dad's old laptop is going wonky, and that means I have to play the role of tech support, once again. I can't think of anyone in the world that likes to spend time diagnosing IT problems. Bugger...

I disagree there are a lot of undiscovered talent here that make wonderful posts that dont get noticed or curated. I think galen is doing the right thing here bringing people to the forefront that maybe arent on the big accounts radar yet.
It's those undiscovered people I'm looking for; I simply don't have all day and night to search them out myself and I figure if people can drop a few in front of me, users I might not usually see, I have a chance to discover them for myself, and support them. I'm hoping a few take me up on the delegation offer also made in this post. Time will tell.

I delegate my hive power to someone else and it's there's to vote with. It's nice for those with only small HP, often giving them the ability to actually add value. I remember when my 100% vote hit 0.10c...I was stoked...So, sometimes the delegation is simply a nice emotional boost. My vote is much larger now, but when it was small a delegation meant a lot. Also, for those with low RC it can mean they can comment a lot more which helps them gain relationships.
I'm in! I upvote often for a lot of upcomers that i think need an upvote that dont get the attention they deserve. My vote is so small its worthless. But id like to make it so that it means more than "hey i read your post and enjoyed it"

Thanks Mary...We need to be supporting all the newer users, just as I did you in the early days, and my brother, and a couple others, did for me over three years ago. I hope you get on board with a suggestion this weekend, and also maybe a post into the Engage the weekend Community also. The more we support newer, and smaller accounts, the faster they become bigger, and start supporting others.
