What are you reading?
These days I'm pretty slack at reading books. I always used to have a book in my bag that I would whip out if there was the slightest danger of social interaction. These days a phone or a Switch does the job, with headphones. Can't wait for VR, that will send the right signal!
Okay, I'm not that bad,but I really do dislike idle chattering. I'm that annoying guy that forgets to do the hugs and kisses, to ask about your dog and kids. I tend to just blurt out what was on my mind that I needed to ask....
So these are the two books that I still take around when I'm in tour.
This is a essay into the question of consciousness with mathematics and physics as the starting point. No airy fairy nonsense here!
This is a lighter read. A comic series based on the lives of exiled Fables (characters from fairy tales) that are trying to live out their lives in the mundane world after being forced out of their homelands by an unnamed enemy (the big bad!). It's a great comic, even for those that don't generally like the genre.

When i was young i helped my mother quite frequently when she was cleaning the house even though i wasnt really helpful at that age :D Anyways she told me that those dishwasher tabs are so toxic that even just touching them could poison you bad. In retrospect i know that she just tried to scare me so wouldnt accidentally swallow the tab or put the finger which touched the tab in my mouth but i somehow never questioned it until a few years back when i asked myself why i always tried to have the least possible contact with it
I thought that my pokemon games back then were connected to the internet or some other network because i kept discovering new pokemon and was convinced that they werent in the game before :D Most of the time i even just read about them in a megazine so i kind of get why i came to the conclusion even though it seems just stupid today
I've always been absent-minded. When it came time that everyone around me learned to drive, I refused. I was certain I did not belong on the road because I was so absent-minded. Then I moved to the suburbs. I continued to refuse--for about a year. Getting around was tortuous, so I finally relented. I went through a bunch of fender benders, but eventually learned to pay attention. Now, I'm a great driver. I also don't lose my keys anymore.
I traveled to Spain as a young, single woman. My Spanish was poor, but I was an eager learner. As I went about my travels in conservative Andalucia, I apologized for my poor Spanish by saying, "Estoy embarazada". I thought I was saying, "I'm embarrassed". What I was actually saying was, "I'm pregnant". It took me weeks to discover my error.
Serious: I was doing a rotation in the neonatal intensive care unit (for premature babies) and one of the babies I was taking care of was a withdrawal baby. The mother was a chronic opioid abuser and was admittedly taking pain medications during pregnancy and was still abusing drugs. I thought for sure because of the fact that the pain medications could cross the breast milk it would be a bad idea to let the mom breastfeed. However, I was in fact wrong and research shows that letting mother breastfeed actually reduces withdrawal in these babies and increases mother-baby bonding. Something that seemed so counterintuitive at first but admittedly I was wrong.
Trivial/funny: When I was little, my parents told me I was going to be getting a "new addition to the family" in terms of a baby sister. At the time I was the only child and very small so I asked if they could just give the baby (my sister) back to the stork.. Later I apparently realized thats not really where babies come from and I was indeed going to be a big brother to a new baby sister.

I am currently reading Lord Fouls Bane, the first book of the Thomas Covenant Chronicles. I read a ton of fantasy and this is quite possibly my least favorite book I have ever read but I'm a glutton for punishment so I am finishing this one/the trilogy to see if it gets any better.
Oooh, good luck! I usually dump a book if it really doesn't grab me. I just don't have the time anymore to slog through. Same with games, I used to power through, hoping things would get better...

I am currently reading several books:
Robert Anton Wilson: Sex, Drugs and Magick by Robert Anton Wilson, since I really love his writing. If I were to guess, I don't think I would have ended up on Steem if I had not been exposed to him.
Anathem by Neal Stephenson - My fiction kick. A monster of a book, with some interesting and challenging concepts.
The Gruffalo by Axel Scheffler and Julia Donaldson - I have a three year old, so I am reading this often.
Anathem is one of my all time favourite books! If I remember correctly (and if I have the right Stephenson book), I loved the fact that the sects were based upon the v very real mathematical camps of what defines the reality of mathematics! I also enjoyed very much the Baroque cycle as well!
Reading to my kids is the most time that I have in front of a book when I'm at home. Currently, it is Charlotte's Web and The Rainbow Fairies for the older, and where is the green sheep for the younger.
I'm currently reading "Debt: The first 5,000 years". It was recommended by Vitalik Buteri, the creator of Ethereum. The guy is a genius, so I thought I would listen to his advice. It's an interesting perspective on the history of debt. My next book is going to be "zero to one" by Peter Thiel. This one is about building the future and how to capitalize on the knowledge that you have and how to share that with others.
I'm a huge fan of the Ethereum founder. I just listened to an interview of him, not only smart but wise. He is a great figurehead for the crypto movement, keeping his eyes open to the shortcomings and weaknesses of crypto and it's practitioners. You need to have this view to build a resilient and lasting system. I will definitely check this one out!
I don't know if you have heard about Health and Home. I don't know if this even qualifies for a "book" reading. Every time I have no books to read, this is what I end up reading, even back issues. It is a magazine where there articles about health and about family and relationships. It also comes with fun facts. My mom orders the compiled book for the previous year where all monthly editions are compiled. There is also a kid section where there are puzzles and coloring page for kids. It is a magazine for every one. There is a recipe but everything is vegetarian. If you are a meat lover, you can substitute or add ingredients. There are articles about benefits of vegetables. There are also articles on tips about work and home improvement. It also publishes personal stories like relationships, experiences in Christian life and lifestyle. Since it is a publication of Seventh-Day Adventists, there are also articles about the bible. It is a magazine that keeps me interested because it covers various topics. Recently, they have added local destinations and travel tips and guides. It is a magazine that is timely in discussing issues and interests we have today.

Reading back issues of magazines, I used to go to the library and read heaps of back issues. Mostly gaming and computer stuff... With physics and mathematics... So no travel advice at all!

Currently, I am halfway through The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. He's one of my favorite authors, and this short, bittersweet novel does not disappoint. The protagonist, an unreliable narrator, is an older man returning to his childhood home and suddenly recalling an uncanny past he had largely forgotten. A book about wonder, memories, lost chances that keep haunting us.
Next in line is going to be the Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi. I have been promised hard science fiction and adventures of a gentleman burglar.
I love Neil Gaiman, he is a great author! I have read just about every book he has written over the years.
Is it cheating to say that I'm reading my own works right now? Over and over as I'm editing and lengthening... trying to get more done so that I can share more of my little world...
Okay - yeah, it may be cheating, lol. But that's what's taking the vast majority of my time at the moment.
How about cookbooks??? I've been working with canning at high altitude which is fun... I'm a bit of a rebel too, using older techniques that aren't always approved by the USDA - but work just fine (and used to be approved...)

Well, the book at the top of my stack is one I picked up at the library a few weeks ago - and meant to help strengthen my writing.

And that book is awesome! I knew it was good to begin with, I mean if a genius like George Lucas would get so much out of Joseph Campbell's work and inspire a lot of his writing, I knew it would be good. My goal now is to read a little bit every day before I hit my own writing.

A canny rebel, I have to say I know nothing about food preservation. Are the techniques frowned upon for mass production? As in, if you do it for yourself then it is your own responsibility, but if you do it for millions of people the risk is too high?
The novel looks good, anything that inspired George Lucas is worth a look at!
Bookmark.. I just use whatever is handy. Scrap paper, pens, old phones.... I used to dog ear the pages, but I've since stopped doing that.
oooo - dog-earing pages, you evil person... But I'm glad you've been saved from that life of destruction! In this case, I destroyed a box for some hydrocortisone cream that my husband got me, but I hadn't needed yet - I prefer to use more natural alternatives when I can. The cardboard was perfect for a bookmark though - and I'm already planning to use some of the info from Joseph Campbell for my writing. His view on marriage is particularly interesting and will fit very nicely in with what I've been doing.
Nah, the techniques the USDA frown upon now were officially promoted by themselves 50 years ago, but some of us are guessing that certain lobbies got involved... after that, all you need are a couple of high-profile cases where someone dies because they don't pay attention to the details in canning safely. Yes, you have to be careful, but you don't have to be paranoid.
The way of thinking of the rebels I've talked to is this: if they can do it in a factory, we can find the way to do it at home. At my altitude, there are serious time issues too - almost doubling the standard canning times! (And when you're starting with a 3 hour waterbath, then a doubling is significant!) But thus far, the results have been outstanding.
I have a number of food-related sensitivities and my husband is diabetic, so it's good when I can make things at home for cheaper and healthier too. I have already lost track of how many times my original investment of canning equipment (only last year) has paid for itself already!
And yes, when you have two writers in the comments section, I'm afraid that a novel is only to be expected!!! But thanks for providing the medium for us to meet!
George Lucas is a genius. If you become acquainted with my writing, you will quickly discover that he's been a major inspiration for me as well... but over the years, it has developed into my own distinct brand and my own world - perfect for escape when the real world proves too much.
Ha ha, I still dog ear music for quicker page turns though. Although, that is a pretty widely accepted thing to do.
Canning and preserving food sounds like a really good skill to learn. Do you need much equipment?
I always loved the extra political stuff in Star wars and the complex backdrop that Lucas had for the universe. The sort of thing that seems to have gone down badly in general with the wider public. However, the cringy love narratives..
There are those sticky tab things for finding music more easily. I'm also a musician when I have the time/energy/instruments... It's been a few years since I've had a piano at my beck and call and the tiny keyboard I got to teach my daughters just doesn't have that "touch me" draw about it. :-p Maybe our next place...
Canning is actually pretty easy. For the vast majority (if you've learned enough to flip off the USDA, anyway) all you need is a waterbath canner (which is done differently in other countries anyway) with a wire rack to keep the jars off the bottom... you also need the special lifting tongs, but otherwise, it's just a matter of jars, lids and rings...
I had to learn other methods when I lived in the UK as I never saw a waterbath canner there - I learned how to do jam with other methods that are definitely not approved by the USDA, lol. But, it almost always worked. Anyway, if you're interested, I would highly recommend one of the Facebook groups - look for "rebel" or "outlaw" in the group name!
I hate politics, yet somehow our entire lives are governed by politics - whether our country, our town or our neighborhood... even our families. So, yes, politics ends up faring heavily no matter what.

As for what I am reading--just started "A Beginner's Guide to Reality". It's too early to say exactly what it's about, but the book starts with a reference to "The Matrix" (movie). Dives right into a discussion about hyperreality. So far, seems fascinating. It is engaging--the author writes fluently on the subject, no jargon. I hope it lives up to expectations.

I'm in the same boat as @viking-ventures at the moment. Currently, most of the things I read are my own writings, over and over and over as I struggle to edit and perfect them and prepare them for the eyes of other people! :D
There is one book that I'm itching to read though. It's one I've read many times before, but you know, you get these urges to read them over again. The author is Roderick Anscombe and the book is The Secret Life of Lazslo, Count Dracula.

It's a psychiatric interpretation of the classic vampire tale. First person, in diary-entry form, and it's absolutely mesmerising how the author gets you into the character's head, and allows you to truly feel for the guy even as he's... well, doing what he does. It's fantastic. I can't recommend it enough!
I know what you mean about editing over and over again... As I share my Friendship on Fire novella, there were quite a number of changes this past edit - in fact, I've done further editing since I read it to my husband - to bring up the level of romance in it a tad.
I guess at some point, we have to recognize that it will never be "perfect" and we must not limit ourselves because of that drive... Thankfully, the reader is more forgiving than that.
I have had to deal with consistency errors since all of my stuff is intertwined and very closely related. This week, I've been working on an actual novel that started work a number of years ago - I haven't touched it in nearly 10! and many of my concepts have evolved significantly since then. I still have some "issues" which will have to be either adjusted, or addressed in a historical sense. Thankfully, it's at a very different point on my timeline, so it's possible.
Yes! Thankfully the reader is more forgiving than us perfectionists! :D I'm also thankful that I don't feel the urge to edit when it comes to Steemit things, I'd never get anything done, saving the brainpower for the intending-to-publish projects.
I will have to have a read of your Friendship on Fire - I haven't read a romance in ages. Actually, I haven't really read much in ages at all. I still have two books sitting on my shelf that a friend self-published and... he's almost finished his third. And here I am wanting to read that Dracula interpretation I've read a hundred times already! I'm a terrible friend, obviously, haha.
With consistency - that's the whole purpose of me dabbling in my Skyswept chapters here. It's a period of time in between what I would like to be my book #1 and #2, and I'm making sure everything fits together, and at the same time it's fleshing things out a bit more in general so I have a larger overall grasp on the world.
I can also ramble like no body's business, so. I'll shush while I'm three paragraphs ahead! :D
I'm the same way! We writers... well, we like to write!!! It is very unusual for me to find people willing/able to outwrite me.
HAHAHA about wanting to reread Dracula, while having a dozen other things begging to be read, lol. I don't often visit the same book twice, strangely. .. except children's books, of course. There are books I'd like to read again, such as some of the Dan Brown books, but I don't feel I really have the time when there are so many things that need to be read for the first time.

I've heard about this one. It's been one that I've meant to read and then kept forgetting about. Another to add to my backlog of books that I want to read....
What sort of books do you write? I can relate to the tediousness of rereading and editing. I do the same for recordings, by the end of the process my head is spinning and everything sounds weird!
You two writers are going to end up with a mini novel here in itself....
A little bit of action, a little bit of adventure, a little bit of sci-fi, a little bit of fantasy to carry a lot of romance... I (almost strictly) write at the novella length - 20-40k words or 50-100 pages. It's meant to be short and sweet, perfect for a bedtime read, especially for the single dreamer that I was for many years. I love to develop relationships between people with lots of characterization and 'painting with words...'
As I said in my other comment, George Lucas is a huge inspiration for me. My A'mara are very Jedi-like, but they've developed into their own group without a doubt.
It does sound very interesting, do you earn a living from books? How did you fall into becoming a writer?
hahaha - I wish I was making a living at it. Maybe one day... but I'm terrible at marketing, so even if I'm good enough, I will need someone else to help me take that next step.

The Secret Life of Lazslo, Count Dracula is definitely a must-read. Though, reading through the GoodReads reviews, lots of people didn't share my opinion. But I find that happens with most things I read. I have a HUGE love for flowing, poetic, superfluous prose, each word a delight. If you like lots of words that enable you to become one with the character you're reading, you should fall into it! If you prefer a concise, to the point, get-on-with-it approach... it may not be for you.
It happens with the written word too! Write the same word enough times and it doesn't look real anymore. You start to second guess if it's even spelt correctly or if it means what you think it means. Then you remove it. And the next time you go through the paragraph, "Hey, where did that word go?" and you put it back in, haha! Frustrating. ~ I'm trying my hand at fantasy. :) Not high fantasy of elves and goblins and dragons, but a basic magic versus those without the gift, the politics behind it all, and inevitable dissent.(I'm rambling again. Another page added to this novel in your comment section, haha!)
Hmmm, that fantasy hook seems like a good one. The might and magic, questing and save the world has been done to death. The political and social effects of having a 'superior' class sounds much more intriguing!
This is the book am reading at the hour and it's the book of the month in my reading group, I reviewed section Three of this book yesterday and it was amazing.
The First World War and the second has a lot of precipitated History and backlog attached to it, this book opens your eyes to them all and make you understand the whole thing in a better perspective, each data and assertion is backed up by evidences : newspaper headlines of the time, diary, archives and the likes and it now left for you who to believe.
I'll enjoin you to read it too.
Wow, historical non fiction! This would be perfect for my father in law. He loves this sort of thing and often visits all the important museums and battle sites.
Reading has been my passion ever since I can remember. I am pretty sure that my eyes are as bad as they are because when I was a kid, I read under my covers at night with hardly any light.
Birthdays and Christmas was all about books. I still have a lot of my childhood books I got from my godmother.
She lived in the East part of the divided Germany and I am in the West. They did have a hard time to get many things but books, beautiful books were plentiful. I loved reading them and having them around.
Actually, later I started reading Agatha Christy mysteries and always wanted one of those old English libraries.
That said, most of my reading right now is here on steemit and many of the books I "read" are actually audio books. But I am always tempted.
I have a little free library in front of my house and keep begging people for book donations. Some of those books I want to read first before putting them out there - but see above... Steemit = no time for anything these days.
Here are two books I am trying to get to right now (and 20 more in a pile - at least) One is from the donation box, the other I bought from the author, Toby Hemenway, shortly before he passed away.
Ah yes, we always include a book for our Christmas and birthday gifts. It really is a present that you need to put a bit of thought into, that is really tailored to the giftee. Much better than other 'off the shelf' (🙄) gifts.
The novel looks racy... But the other one looks really interesting. Might be something I'll look up for myself.

I'm reading a collection of short stories by Ali Smith called Public Library.
Reading books is my new promise to myself which I keep breaking by just reading on this screen all day. I wish it wasn't such a struggle because I really miss how it feels to read a book. Not just the actual feel, though holding a book is nice too, but sticking with one person for such a long time does something nice to my brain. It feels more relaxed somehow.
When I read more books, I used to love short stories. My favourites when I was growing up were the ones by Issac Asimov and the other greats from that era of sci-fi writing.
I have the same problem with finding and making things to read a book. I now try to take one with me on tour, for the long journeys and the quiet times in the hotel or before a performance.
That's a good idea, trying to carve out space. I keep saying to myself that I will leave all screens in the lounge room at night before bed, so at the very least there is time to read books before sleeping.
Might have to start leaving a book in the bathroom for toilet breaks. Desperate times, desperate measures :)
Back to the good old days. I always used to read in the toilet!
I am reading a book entitled Chiefdom Madinah, the misunderstanding about Islamic Country. This book actually a dissertation of the author to get his PhD. I bought the book in 2015, but I have been so busy with this and that. My wife and sometimes discuss about democracy system and other type of country governances. I think this book is a good literary guide of understanding Islamic politics in history. Until 19th century, there were no Muslim thinkers conducting a criticism review about the establishment of Caliph/sultan dynasty, even though it was an established government system that Muslims all over the world know for centuries. This book reveals more about the system and its history especially about the Arabian Cape socio reality at the moment. Here in Indonesia, my beloved country, the issue about changing the Republic into Islamic country like Chiefdom Madinah is still on some people demand. So, despite the fact that I am busy with my home gardening project, this book is enriched my mind.
This does look interesting, I do enjoy reading treatises in government and political power structures. I must admit, I know very little about the Islamic Sultanate form of governing. Is it very different from current forms of governance?
yes, there's a big different gap between chiefdom Madinah Under Prophet Muhammad as a religious leader and his orientation for the islamic community in Madinah that time and the 4 caliphs after he passed away. the charter of madina which is known for the best practices for the humanitarian and peace treaty among the tribes there charter of medina which is now become the main reason for the khilafah fighters in Indonesia not really perfect to applies in the most diverse country of tribes, faith and languages such as Indonesia.

The Islamic system of government is also not a republican system. Where the republican system stands on the pillars of the democratic system, whose sovereignty is evident in the hands of the people. It is the people who have the right to rule and make rules, including the people who then have the right to determine someone to become the ruler, and at the same time the right to fire him. The people are also entitled to make rules in the form of constitution and legislation, including the right to delete, modify and change it while While the system of Islamic rule stands on the pillars of the Islamic faith, as well as the laws of syara '. Where his sovereignty is in the hands of syara ', not in the hands of the people. In this case both the ummah and the caliphs are not entitled to make their own rules. I'm currently reading Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress. It would make a great Black Mirror episode. Science Fiction set in near future. Book 1 starts in 2008 and Book 4 ends in 2091. It poses some interesting questions to think about and maybe is even appropriate as it has some parallels to #steembasicincome.

This looks right up my alley! I haven't read a good Sci fi series for a while! I am in two minds about Black Mirror, I guess it is because there are multiple writers. I do enjoy some episodes, but others I feel are just empty, the way I feel about people complaining about Facebook on the Facebook platform...
This is true of the Black Mirror episodes. I didn’t really think about the episodes being written by different people. I was basically looking at the ideas presented and the fact that they are generally near future ideas.
Beggars in Spain is a complete book, not a series. I guess it was originally published as a series of 4 “novellas” /short stories and the combined into a single book.

Thanks,i could read more but I am now hooked on Steemit. I have been known to read a book in a day or two. I have both a Kobo and Kindle ereader, I got tired of passing up free Kindle books so I added a Kindle to my collection of ereaders.

Growing up, I missed a lot of the classics. My kids' curriculum is full of the classics that I missed. The one I am currently reading is Little Women. I was always intimidated by the size of it, but I wanted to give it a chance. I started reading it in the evenings only before I go to bed. I am already more than 1/5 of the way through the 560 page book and it's pretty good! I am glad I decided to give it a try. :)

I'm in the process of trying to read Flash Boys by Michael Lewis. It is a non-fiction account of how several major brokerage firms were able to gain a sizable advantage over their competitors by utilizing faster bandwidth and other methods to ensure an advantage to insiders.
It was recommended to me by a friend and I was fascinated by how the adoption of emerging technologies were able to give someone an edge. It is also very indicative of how established, regulated financial institutions use whatever means necessary to profit off of the average joes out in the world.
I don't know the book, but I had heard of this idea. That just shaving milliseconds off transaction times could result in huge gains if you could beat the competing bids.
Unfortunately, it is a sad example of how profit drives our society...

Wow, that does look good. I'm not sure that we have the right stuff in our garden though. My child did just learn to make a soup out of brand nettle though. Very green and very delicious, and the nettle just grows everywhere.
I read about that nettle. The book calls it stinging nettle because the leave "sting" you??? Did you have any problems with that?

Wow, that sounds great! So far I haven't had the pleasure of being stung by the nettle, but they say it itches like crazy.
At the school, they send the 5 year olds out with rubber dishwashing gloves to collect the nettle!

At the moment, I am reading "A hologram for the King"- Dave Eggers
After reading "The circle", this seemed a good choice. It appears to be nothing like the Circle. A lot is written, but not a lot is happening, yet.
I learned there is a movie of this book too. After finishing the book I will watch the movie. I am very, very curious how they manage to keep the audience's attention with so little action.
Guess I won't be able to tell whether this book is worth the read until I have finished it.

I used to love reading a lot but time to do so has gotten a little hard since having my daughter. If she sees me leisurely reading, she assumes its time to play! LOL And who am I to tell her mommas busy reading?! But I have recently picked up a book thanks to my sisters recommendation. Its called I Cant Make This Up ~Life Lessons~ by Kevin Hart. Its hilarious, inspirational, touching, and did I mention hilarious?! He tells his life story, the ups and downs, lefts and rights. All in all, it teaches that life is what you make of it. Heres a little saying on life thats in the book...
"Life is a story. Its full of chapters. And the beauty of life is that not only do you get to choose how you interpret each chapter, but your interpretation writes the next chapter. It determines whether its comedy or tragedy, fairy tale or horror story, rags-to-riches or riches-to-rags.
You cant control the events that happen to you, but you can control your interpretation of them. So why not choose the story that serves your life the best?"
I highly recommend this book, if you need some laughter with a little real life mixed in! Great read! :)
At the moment, both my kids are obsessed by books. For the oldest, I get to read to her first, and then she has started reading, so then she reads Dutch back for me (while laughing at the way I pronounce Dutch words...). The youngest has only just discovered books, but it is one of her first words.
Sounds like a great book that you are reading, I will definitely have a look for it! Although it sounds a bit more like something that my wife would like better...

At the moment I'm reading this to my daughter who is almost 2 and a half. Over and over and over and over and over again.
She loves it, but I could almost recite it.

There are several good books that I am currently reading, I will list a few here. The first book is a book that I often reread for perspective is "Jitterbug Perfume" by Tom Robbins (One of my all time favorite authors.) This work of fiction is about a man named Alobar's determination to allude death and be immortal and how he succeeds in doing so. There are many subplots intertwined in this novel as well. I would highly recommend reading this book.
Another book I am reading is "Norse Mythology" by Neil Gaiman. (Another fantastic and favorite author of mine. He also wrote "American Gods" and "Sandman" graphic novel series among others.) This book is straight forward adaptations of Norse myths as researched and compiled by the author. It is well written and interesting to read.
The last but certainly not least book I will list is a nonfiction memoir / biography of sorts written by the iconic comedian George Carlin's daughter, Kelly Carlin. The book is called "A Carlin Home Companion; Growing Up With George". Now I have to say that listening to George Carlin stand up starting at age 16 helped shape my view of government and the world in a lot of ways. He is one of my idols. That being said I have no illusions as to what a crazy ride it must have been growing up with him as your dad and Kelly Carlin does not disappoint. I am about half way through this book, and can honestly say that Kelly Carlin is a funny and engaging writer, and very much like her father. I look forward to reading more and finishing this memoir.
The first group of books sound interesting, but that last one by Carlin really sounds like a top read! Will definitely check that one out, thanks for the tip!

You're welcome. I'm really enjoying her writing and the stories about what George Carlin was like when he was just starting to get real recognition for his stand-up. There are also several pages of photos starting from 1961 through the 90s. I highly recommend grabbing a copy! :)

Those look like interesting books! I unfortunately don't read books that often.. Mostly steemit comments these days! Lol.. And some research on google.. The two books I've been working on are about Thomas Jefferson and the founding of America and.. One on marketing that I think i finished already but I'm not sure. I forgot what they're both called.. Lemme see.. The Jefferson one is called The Art of Power and the marketing one is called World Wide Rave.. Both of which are very helpful books for the kind of stuff I'm interested in! Both great reads, but.. Unfortunately takes me a long time to finish books these days.. I've been on them for a while!
The marketing one doesn't sound my sort of thing, but the Jefferson one does sound like something I would like. The art of power, I'm going to have to find that.
