G-dog's reveal
My reveal is that no one in the real world calls me G-dog. Like, literally no one. I have a few nicknames, some really unpleasant one's that only a few can get away with using, but a couple that people call me from time to time. I get called Manimal, Gee, Gales, Hammer, and G-man by various people, all for specific reasons and a couple of people actually use my middle name which I happen to really like. But...No G-dog. I just made it up for hive.
So there you go, it's not difficult to reveal something small about oneself and I hope a few of you will have a go at it otherwise this topic will be officially declared shit which I'd rather not have to do. Don't make me do it y'all, help the G-dog out and comment below.

My Friday track because every time I hear this I think of...Ecstacy
Ok, here's something interesting that I remembered and I would normally keep in the shadows for its "shameful" side. I think I can now "shine some new light" on it and see it for a virtue lost or made latent for a couple of decades.
I had this natural entrepreneur spirit as a 5th to 7th grader. I would try to make a "kid's black market" sell of any trivial thing I got access to. Of course, chestnut collecting and scrap metal or paper for recycling was a business I would happily get involved into, but also I tried (with limited success, meaning one sell each) to record audio tapes from CDs that I had and shill them to classmates or after a certain Arts Class required us to learn to work with clay, I would try to invest into another bag of clay and sell figurines to classmates and teachers. I had those categorized, even using artsy terms I did not quite understand. Oh, wait, I had two sells there. One to a teacher and one to a class mate.
Now that I think of it, I had my first photograph copies sold in 4th grade, after I took a group picture of the whole school group during a visit to a monastery in the mountains.
Then that all went away for about fifteen years...Perhaps that is the more shameful moment. It's a shame, anyway.

Well, it was undoubtedly an undertaking and perhaps a sign that you had the blood of a salesman running through your veins, not everyone has that talent.
I also did it when I was a child, curious fact, I traded the paper dolls that my mom gave me to collect without her knowing 🙈, it makes me laugh a lot remembering it
I wish it were running as strong as back then, that salesman blood...Trying to rediscover it.
Hopefully you will be reunited with that! I was also impressed with that creative ability, creating clay figurines to sell I think was a good idea back then 🤗

Thanks, probably would have been had it continued like that. But some block happened and it went on for another decade or two.
As in all of our lives my friend, we only return to it in later years to find out that we should have been doing it all along.

We act according to what life dishes out to us and most of us are unhappy about where it is that we ended up. Everyone has a hidden talent coupled to the love in their hearts and it is to find that talent and develop it.
Not easy my friend and I spent 40 years to find my own, but whenever one does, then life takes on a different real meaning.

You are very right, I remember a phrase that goes something along the lines of:
Learn from the past while living in the present and planning for the future.
The seasons of life have many lessons to teach us, I think whatever season we are in, thinking about and practising what we have learned up to that point should make a great recipe for an authentic, happy life. It really is fantastic that you found your own special purpose, I wonder how many souls have walked this earth and never taken the leap to really do what they were placed here to do?
Maybe I am at exactly the point I was destined to reach with the combined knowledge I need to move forward from this point forward, who knows maybe if I had changed path ten years ago it may not have been the right time, life is funny like that sometimes.

In early high school, I would sell condoms to people. A pack of 12 was about 6 dollars and selling them individually, I could get anywhere between 20 to 30 dollars for the pack.
Now that's real business thinking. I guess I were more of a craftsman than a tradesman back then as well. Never figuring out the right price.
The "right price" depended on their level of embarrassment to buy their own :)
And understanding that at an early age is powerful.
Also, let's take into consideration that it's actually their level of embarrassment to buy their own vs your level of embarrassment to ask for a high price. I was not fortunate in that regard.

Thinking about me back then, I see I was able to recognize some production capabilities and I had intentions to force new market trends on the general public. Teach them what they want. I was not experienced enough to be encouraged by partial success, though ;) Did not think statistically but rather emotionally. Let's see what can change with knowledge. Let's see if the proper attitude would return.
Actually I sometimes believe a little emotion can be the missing ingredient with such ideas. You are clearly thinking about this right now, that leads me to have absolute faith in your ability to get back on the horse and make small steps toward where you want to be.
Small steps are all it really takes as long as they are practiced repeatedly over time, maybe you could look in to affiliate marketing? There is a whole host of information, case studies and tutorials on YouTube. This is something I am planning on trying my hand at in the coming weeks and months, I will be writing some posts with names like 'affiliate marketing for normal people' as I have zero techie skills but believe I can achieve success in this area as it is actually a really simple business to operate (if you have persistence and the ability to change things and learn from your mistakes) and it costs little to no money to begin.
Either way I wish you all the luck and learning in the world my friend, repeating and refining whatever you decide to pursue will certainly lead to success. 😎

Well, I'm here and I am selling photos, drawings, paintings, short stories and I am making a game. The funny thing is, though, some of my ideas are obviously not to the taste of regulations since I was thinking about the same use of NFTs (not engaged into making it happen, fortunately for my unprepared head) just today described Here as sketchy and probably criminal ;)

that's how my days were from Monday to Friday. On Sunday he was an angel, and he collaborated in the church as an altar boy, one Sunday the school director visited the mass and could not believe that that terrible child was an altar boy, at one point I passed by him and took the opportunity to wake up to the ear ( You are a shameless little boy, how dare you be an altar boy with how terrible you are) How do you do to forget a situation like that.

Growing up was fun, never got away with too much, had a fair amount of free time after chores had been done.
At that time we children collaborate a lot with our parents in what to do, however, I always managed to do mischief
Childhood passes too quickly, only time in life one really can get away with getting into mischief.
I sorta went the other way. Angel was probably never used to describe me, but I was especially not angelic in church. I'd routinely get my butt whipped but I kept asking questions.
I started skipping church at about age 10, and I think nobody came to look for me :)

If I was in a long distance relationship I would want more and I am still nowhere near rich enough to make something like that work. traveling to another country would make my wallet cry. And I probably can't even imagine the mountain of gold needed to move to another country. I don't know where to find either a dragon sleeping on that gold or a magical lamp... So most likely I will not be in a long distance relationship any time soon.
I think we all have (unconsciously) strategies to make guys crazy, hahaha.... Or maybe there are conscious 🤭, who knows...

ENGAGEtokens.Ohhhhh. I can understand exactly why you'd have that addiction. I come from a long line of Beef Jerky makers, and some of the process get REALLY close to that. Some is smoked hard, some is dehydrated, some is a combination.
My brother used a commercial dehydrator to make a jerky that was really good and he could make smaller batches with it.
Preference is....
Beef: No too wet not too dry,
Not too much fat must have a little yellow trim.
Kudu meat is normally drier, along with ostrich.
Living in a dry region, seal pantry not to let flies or bugs in, hang with a fan in the room for 4 weeks, slower process better taste.
Although I have to admit many who make biltong here really have secret recipes, techniques used with brilliant finished product.
Rooibok biltong Lady Joan, I used to string wires in a room and hang the room full of Rooibok strips to dry. Then had to watch the room as to this day I think that the kids had a spare key hahaha.
Have enjoyed that over an open fire never as a biltong, sounds good. Temptation of tasting progress was too much standing around waiting for them to be ready. Hope you did not get caught in the act of testing...
Yes great also on a fire Lady Joan and a very special taste in biltong.
I worked the kids out by putting chillies on mine that I hung right at the front, as the biltong started mysteriouly disappearing from the back end of the room. Whenever I asked about it the possibilities of mice thieves were blamed 🤣
Don't think I know of any pantry hanging meat where children are in the home that some did not go missing... Almost a tradition!

We catch them with a gun, not as entertaining as it first sounded 😂 Moose is a local delicacy out here and hunting it is the norm, we hunt bears too. We eat everything big and lawful, eat or be eaten. MMM Goose is so good, yes that would be quite the fatty meat for this too. You are making me hungry!

That's great! My first college degree I worked and paid it off before I graduated as well. So many people don't do that, and funny enough me as well. I got a second degree that I'm still paying off but it helped get me a much better job than what I had before. The original job was great but not a lot of opportunity for advancement until the job I have now so it's great give and take in the right scenario.
Very cool - I'm going to be turning 45 this year, and I've been contemplating going back to school for a career change. It's tough to take the leap, though. Yet, I feel like I should sooner rather than later.

Yeah, it's pretty impressive. I had two of Liza's colleagues, two English professors, going for a bit at happy hour a few years ago about how I would play the electric bassoon at a coffee shop. They bought it for like 30 minutes...I told them I hooked it up to an amplifier, I'd crank up the reverb, and just riff for like ten minutes...people would give me cash, I'd then sing some Lennon between bassooning., buy me coffee, pints..no kidding. I had to burst the bubble eventually and let them know I was making it up...but...maybe an electric bassoon isn't such a bad idea????

Very interesting proposal this week @galenkp, I have a lot of fun with these weekend topics. What I am going to reveal to you is probably not a very funny experience, but it was what came to my mind when I read the invitation.
Few people around me know this part of my story, only my family and a few friends.
Between the ages of 15 and 17 I felt a strong desire to join a congregation of nuns. Although my family did not object, they persuaded me to first try to join church activities until I was absolutely sure of my decision, and I did.
For two years I was in the church, studied a little philosophy and theology, I was a communion catechist to prepare the children, participated in different church activities and additionally volunteered in a children's hospital during that time.
Those were wonderful moments for me, I felt very comfortable with everything I was doing but I kept thinking about the decision until the love of a couple came into my life and you can imagine my decision after that.
I retired from church activities, and began a spiritual search that I still continue, I have learned another way of spirituality and connect with existence, having this spiritual connection is still an important part of me.
That's all! A long but condensed history of 3 very important years in my life 🤗

From the cooler miraculously gushed water to spray her with great speed.
The embarrassment was monumental, and obviously I had to apologize without reasonable words, who throws water in the street just because?
That's me, impulsive even here, and then they look at me editing all my posts and comments for having done it on impulse.

This is a cool one this week. Let’s see for revealing something that I haven’t on here yet..
I used to be a hardcore gamer in my younger years. I spent a significant amount of my time when I was a teenager, when not skateboarding, gaming. My brother hated it for some reason, maybe because I wasn’t doing anything with him (who was a dick anyways and he expected me to do shit with him? Ya no thanks). I sometimes would game with people for 8-10 hours a day playing first person shooting games, role playing games and some others. I think it’s why I don’t let our son do that now and will probably not let him do it for many years because of how addicting it is. I have a lot of good memories from it but as well, it reduced my desire for other things that might have worked against me like a car or a license. It all worked out in the end, it helped shape who I am now but the addiction is pretty serious so I had to quit cold turkey. Thankfully now my only gaming outlet is Splinterlands here and dCity but both are minimal time needed so it’s perfect for me.
How nice that you were able to overcome that addiction experience and now be able to guide your son in that direction. I think video games are great, kids enjoy them a lot, but you certainly have to find a balance so they don't become addictive and disconnect from the outside world.
Very true! I want to keep our son focused on things outside, sports if he wants but not video games. There’s too much life to be missed playing them and especially nowadays, things are designed to be the most addicting for the kids and keep them plugged into it. I don’t see a good future for the games so I’ll work on trying to keep him off them however I can. One of the main ways is to lead by example if I can. I won’t play them when I’m with him so that he doesn’t see me do it. Thankfully I only need to play them for less than an hour a day so it’s not too hard lol
I have that struggle right now with my son because he really spends a lot of time online. This pandemic issue has made it worse because with this confinement it's harder to keep them out.
I recently signed him up for tennis lessons and he was excited and with the uptick in the pandemic they shut down the activity 😩 .
I keep thinking of other strategies to distract him from video games.....

I've never been a gamer...Although I've played games of course. I tend to lose interest pretty quickly though, FPS games are not as good as FPS in real life and so I hit the field and lived life in reality rather than a game. I get it though, no judgment at all, and the addiction is very real.
I remember one year I bought a PS2 or something like that and got Killzone. Ah, the thumb pain I endured to smash that entire gam all the way through.
It's good that you're limiting the E-dog mate and I know you're opening him up to so many other things which I think will have so much more benefit for his life.

Lol true every week is pretty damn cool.
The FPS games were fun in their times but they just keep doing the same old stuff now and it got boring. The role playing games were a lot of fun because they kept changing and making you think. It’s just too addicting now so it’s best not to dabble in them at all lol. They have their place and keep people away from other things but I want to spend time with E himself and try to teach and guide him in the right direction as best I can instead of telling him this and that. My dad was working too much as a kid and I know why he did it but if I was able to spend more time with him I wonder if I wouldn’t have played the games I did. He did what he had to do though so I don’t blame him at all.

My wife calls us Trojan and Troy. I am Trojan and Troy is our little chihuahua who is addicted to me. Laying right here now at my feet as I type this. If I get up, he follows me to the toilet and sits next to the bowl until I am done and then we come back here into the study.
So yes we are both tough guys that rock together.
When we are in the garden Troy pees on a plant and I talk to the flowers. Just soft words like "Hello darling, you are wearing a nice dress today" and that sort of stuff you know. Yeah tough guys and even the cats flee when they see us coming.
But at night it's a different story as Troy can be fast asleep, but when he hears me switching the rig off, he knows it's bed time and time for his song. So he follows me to the room to wait for his soft strokes and his goodnight song, and it has to be a new homemade song with his name in every line. EVERY NIGHT!
So yeah, real tough guys we are :)

Oh yeah and it's a lifelong struggle not to act impulsively, as that is exactly where most of our problems occur. Sometimes we get it spot on, but at other times it can end in disaster.
My Dad was a legit tough guy. So I grew up tough. Hard as flint sometimes, but sometimes when I'm all alone a song or a show will bring tears to my eyes.
I still kick the damn dog pretty regularly, though.
Oh yeah, a tough life has shaped us, as I had no dad and had to fend for myself, but fo0r the life of me, I can't understand that our little Troy likes it more when I kick him with my formal shoes than with my sandals 🤣

I talk to myself and occasionally to things that I'm working on as well and will sing every night to our son to help him fall asleep. These are all things I've really come to cherish! I don't know if I could manage a new song every night though, that's tough lol you could compete with song writers of today if you can, I think!
Oh yeah and thank you, those songs at night has become an institution and I am glad that you are doing the same. I base most of my songs on what he has been doing during the day, because he remembers the words and it pacifies him before sleeping time.

I just make up my own tunes and I am sure that he appreciates it, as he has a very keen ear and he can show me his displeasure if the song is too rushed, so it is just slow and steady as it goes 🤣

I was not a kid, I had completed school so probably like 18. That's the legal age to drink here so how this happened is really beyond me.
My most embarrassing injury was from a vacuum cleaner 🙄 and NO - get your Ming clear of the gutter yo. I gave myself a black ring to the top of my eye by clearing a vacuum cleaner blockage. I don't actually remember how it happened but I can remember being doubled over in pain, clutching my face, swearing at the machine and myself 🤣 fun times

I actually just myself cleaned a vacuum hose clog and it's dangerous! The stuff you are using to try and get the stuff out tends to be a little on the strange side and once the clog lets go it can catch you by surprise. I almost hurt myself doing it so don't feel bad lol

I have two older siblings. When I was a kid, my brother and sister would often play scrabble games. I’d always want to play with them but they’d sometimes tell me,“It’s a bit too difficult”. That was their excuse for not wanting to slow the game down to explain things to me.
Sometimes they allowed me to play. I was always happy to play my little words like “cat” and “mat”.
Anyway, I really fell in love with the game. During University days, friends and I would stay up all night playing it. I don’t get to play it often now but I love word games in general and can now make bigger words like “cats” and “mats”. 😂😂

I love playing scrabble it's a really good way to exercise your mind and solve some problems in front of you like where to place letters. It works best if you play things a little bigger than cat and mat but I think you figured that out!

So. My reveal. Since @ladybug was valiant enough to give up her name, I'll give up mine.
My on the birth certificate name is Thomas Stephen Wacker. My last name is pronounced Walker and made perfect sense where I grew up. I have broken a few noses of guys that just couldn't leave my last name without a smart ass remark.
The first two were given because my father really wanted me to become a preacher and thought to give me a preacher's name. It's because his best buddy on earth that was killed in WWII was the son of a preacher and on his way to be one too.
Truth is, I've used nothing but Tom Wacker since I was in High School. My government name is Thomas Stephen, but not anywhere else. I figure my last name makes me unique enough that I don't need to have multiple long names :)
So. When I first moved to Yuma I met a guy that would become one of my bff. Bob Smith. Talk about the most common name ever! So, we all get by with what we've got, I guess. He has a woman at the motorcycle tire place that we both do business that is convinced he is the member of the band 'The Cure'. She sends him samples of new stuff from the company all the time :)

I think names are important and I try to use them all the time...Like with Marielle, calling her bug or lady didn't seem right and so I asked if I could call her Rebecca. She was ok with it. I just see it as more social. I used my real name on my account and never really minded. I mean, if someone wants to track me down and get freaky on me it'll not go so we for them so I've not really got much to lose right? But, people see some genuineness in knowing a name, putting a name to an account. The actual German from Germany name would be Vacker. Sounds like clearing your throat. Ours got changed when the family moved to Russia in the late 1700s. There's not very many of us around...
I find the origin of names interesting. Etymology? I'm not sure if the term also refers to names but I think it does.

I've got a pretty normal name but I've had a lot of friends growing up that had some pretty interesting ones that make life a lot more interesting. One guys name was literally Chin. Another was Soporn. These guys were from Cambodia and a fair amount of my friends growing up were from there now that I think of it. Names are awesome! Mine is squished into your government name, and you even spell it the right way ;).
Parents do get is wrong from time to time!
Name game can be quite problematic, eventually we sidle into what we prefer at the end of the day.
I think Thomas is a good name, Tom sounds closer, however the important thing is that you feel comfortable with your name. Names carry our personal energy and last names carry our ancestors' energy, that's why it is important to integrate them.

BUT:
The life I lead is NOT the one I should be living. I know my life should be built around providing great service to others, rather than allowing myself to stagnate in a job that is making me bitter. I am pretty happy with every other aspect of my life but I am constantly plagued by that nagging feeling that I am not living up to the potential I have and using the skills that are innate within me.
I am still constantly learning, constantly growing and trying to find ways to utilise the things I learn and I have far from given up on my future and believe I am in a great period of transition in my life. So it certainly isn't all doom and gloom by any means.
If that's not revealing enough I should go back to my first thought and grab my camera... 😂
Not feeling content with one's place in life from a personal perspective can be difficult to deal with. I've been there and may be again I guess. I mean from that work perspective as you refer to above. But you are on it, you're aware of it, and so things are moving in the right direction.

I think the company Kentucky fried chicken wasn't even started until the sanders guy was already retired! He loved most of his entire life and when he retired then made a worldwide successful business. Talk about not giving up on doing something unique! I was so picturing a hard core South Australian gangsta! Riding around on a choppa Max throttle or perhaps enjoying the Barosa Valley, what part of Italy did you hail from?
The Big Reveal ey, I'm totally not sure what to write. I live a pretty boring life and I've never been one for anonymity, when I challenge I do so in full view. No mask for me, ride or die kinda shit.
But perhaps a bit more on the softer side. I'm a bit of a romantic, I enjoy cuddles and talks and just the emotional stuff in a relationship. People often do comment about it, they expect a hard core interior to go with my exterior or what is in view.
I can be a hot head at times but that's only when things are going down. Most times I just want to spend time with the family. Overcoming bullying is a huge challenge sometimes and getting bullied can be such a terrible thing, especially as a kid. I was racially vilified as a child, quite brutally in fact...But I survived, and it built character. I'm glad that you have made peace with it and have not let it change who you are...Also, I wish I had four eyes! Think about all the extra things I could see! Lol.

I'm glad that you've overcome some things like being expressive and speaking to groups but I don't think there's a lot wrong with wanting to observe groups and be off to the side instead of in the middle of the attention. I will dare to confess and reveal a secret that I became a victim of love in this online world. I thought it was true but he was just playing the weakness I have. It caused me pain and cry.
