Weekend-engagement topic week 59: The invite

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

Is there someone you'd love to invite to dinner and share some time with? I thought it'd be cool to find out who y'all would invite for dinner if you could invite almost anyone at all. I look forward to seeing who you folks have in mind, but be sure you scroll down and take a look at the guidelines so you know what to do before you answer in the comments.

The #weekend-engagement concept is simple; respond to the topic in the comments below then stay around and engage with others - It's about engagement and building relationships so get involved, engaged and have fun. original im src

On Monday 26th July I'll transfer hive to a few who comment below, just for commenting on the topic and engaging. It's an easy concept - Just get engaged. It's not a competition, just a chance to interact with other hivers and to have a little fun with the community.

Weekend-engagement topic week 59

Who would you invite to dinner and why

In the comments below tell us who you would like to have dinner with and explain why. See guidelines below:

Your invite can be:

✅ A hive user [tag them in your answer]
✅ Anyone from the present or history [alive or dead]
✅ A real person or fictional character from a movie, book, comic etc.

Your invite cannot be:

❌ A member of your family
❌ Do not drop links to external posts as your answer

Explain why you chose the person and what you may ask them or talk about, or tell us what you think they might be like and your expectations of them. Also, feel free to tell us what you'd eat with that person if you like. We're in your hands so be as creative as you like because that's usually more fun.

Read this bit so you know what to do.

⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️

That's the topic folks; you have until Sunday night to get your response into the comments below and I hope you'll stay around and get friendly with some of the others who participate as it'll be good to see you around over the weekend. Have a great weekend whether you engage or not though.

I would invite my former neighbors over for dinner. They were very supportive of us when we just arrived in this country and helped us when we were clueless about many things. Now we are all living in a different places and our children are at different stages of development so it would be nice to spend some time with them and catch up.

This is a good one!

I've never moved to a different country to live but I can imagine it would leave one feeling a little isolated so some support from a neighbour would be welcomed and I'd imagine a good bond was formed.

Is there something special you'd cook for dinner or would you take them somewhere special?

We could go out for a day camp or BBQ

Ah yes, good idea. In that case I'd imagine there'll be seared flesh on the BBQ...Or at least if it was my BBQ there would be.

Numerous cuts of Beef, vegetables, garlic shrimp 🦐, marshmallows etc

Umm...

Any chance of sneaking an invite my way?

Pleeeeeease.

Lol. Would have to invite you on another day as the goal would be to reconnect with my former neighbors.
I'm sure setting up a separate day to hang out with you would not be a problem as the summer is only just beginning.

Yeah the kids enjoyed roasting and eating the marshmallows

You can never go wrong with barbeques! They are absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is grilled shrimp with garlic sauce on top and serve with some grilled veggies and potatoes. Great, now I have made myself hungry 🤣

Maybe this will help.

Delicious Torture 😋🤣. Love the way the lemon slices are cut.

Yum. I recall that my neighbors love seafood so this should be a hit with them for sure. Looks like it would be good for you too.lol

His neighbor is exceptional. He is kind and I have not seen neighbor like this rendering help to his fellow neighbor

It's always nice to see people helping people and for humility and gratitude to be the result.

Im sure he has something special to prepare for dinner. May be it will be fried rice with chicken

Seems a legit choice.

Hehehe...u love this kind of rice .... I love eating fried rice and chicken. But he should tell us the kind.

What a good reason to invite them for a dinner. Neighbours could be very irritating in attitude but if you have had some very supportive neighbours, dinner will be a way to appreciate them.

Thanks @mrenglish. They have truly been a blessing to us even though we didn’t speak each other’s language.

Wow. I hope you'd be able to make a meal for them since they are of a different culture.

We’ve been living here for over 10 years so that should not be a problem. This time of year BBQs and camping are popular here so I thought a combination of both would be good.

The truth is that with globalization many places in the world have a lot of things in common. I’m sure we can find many foods that are mutually appetizing. Beef, vegetables, seafood etc.

Hehe it surely will be a lot of fun. BBQs and camping is plus seafood and vegetable will make a lot of sense I tell you.

Do you have a strong BBQ and outdoor camping culture in your area @mrenglish ?

Hmmmmm.., these foods you just mentioned are truly yummy

They sure are @cool08. Are you into BBQs?

I think since they have been living as neighbors ffor over ten years, he should be able to know some of those food the neighbor love most.

Ahahah🤣😅🤣 globalization has brought the world together as a small community. There are meals that people of different culture can relate with.

You can at least speak a common language. That alone is enough.

Actually at the time we didn’t speak the same language. They spoke only Japanese and we spoke English. But nice people are nice in any language.

How then do you relate to each other? Do they also understand English?

At the time, they understood some English and we understood a little Japanese so we used translation dictionaries and gestures when we had some difficulty. Otherwise we tried to use easy English and Japanese.

Some neighbors are just too great and kind.

Yeah I feel blessed to have met them. Do you have any experiences where you’ve been helped by someone?

This reason has has to invite his neighbor for dinner is just to great. Inviting him for dinner will be the best.

My position on this is that good neighborliness is factor for communal growth.

Lovely choice. It is a great thing to show how grateful we are for this little things that make the world a better place and life easier.

His choice is truly lovely.

Indeed! Reminds me of this thing I did once some friends were getting their tittle and I gave a different thing to each one of them.

That’s great of you to do something to support and encourage your friends. I’m sure they appreciated it.

It's the least I could do. They are good friends.

They say birds of a feather flock together.

I'm extra sure that truly appreciate it to the fullest

What ypu gave was not just different but heart touching

It's always a good time to catch up with old friends and find out a little about their lives after so long. Good choice

  • Thanks @gabrielserra its always nice to catch up with old friends.

@bearmol awww..they do sound like amazing neighbors. You don't find good neighbors easily. I hope one day you all will meet again.💚🌻

They are indeed awesome neighbors. I hope that some time soon we will be able to reconnect with the whole family again.

Yes, I would do the same with my neighbors at my previous place. They were so lovely and helpful to me when I'd just moved there for living. Now I left already and didn't have their new contact, one day if I have change to see them again, I definitely do like you.

Neighbors are such an important part of what we consider to be our community.

Yes, I think so ^^ Have a great Sunday

It's nice to have a reunion with your former neighbours. Hopefully you guys will be able to meet each other and have good time together 😍

I hope we can all meet some time over the summer holiday.

Truly he has hoed you with what you just said. Such person need to be called for dinner.

Actually it’s not just one person but an entire family. Yes they are really awesome.

What you want to show them I kindness.well done

Dinner is a nice time to catch on old-time memories or tie up a new relationship with some person(s) whom you would have wanted to be closer.
For this weekend, I will like to invite @Oceanbee to dinner. Hehe!! You wonder why, she probably will find this amazing and unexpected. In the last #weekend-engagement run, she made some very nice breakfast. So, I will like to host her to some African delicacies so she finds our how African recipes work out.

Hello my good fellow, I hope you're well.

I think @oceanbee would be a very legit person to invite for dinner indeed! She's a switched-on cat I reckon and would be a lot of fun to be around I'd say. But you'll have to tell me, what's the African delicacies you'd have on offer? I've not really eaten any African foods myself. There was an African restaurant here a while back but I never made it there to eat unfortunately.

Why, thank you, sir! Did you see what @mrenglish is planning to prepare for the big dinner? It sounds delish, you should definitely come.

Wow. We move. Thanks for accepting to come to dinner 🤣😍😂. Maybe I should add pepper soup to the list of meals to be served and champagne to celebrate through the night.

I'm always up for a dinner invite...Sating no to food is not something I'm very familiar with. 😆

@mrenglish should have the best African dinner for the one he is inviting

Yes, @cool08 I have planned a good meal for the evening. Hope you'd come around.

Alright. On this, I will be making #Ofe-nsala with semolina. OMG!!! That promises to be mouth-watering and tasty too. In this meal you are sure to have dried fish with goat meat and some #pomo (cow skin) to go.
Maybe our local palm wine will be on the table. I bet you haven't tasted the African palm tree wine before now. You hope to have a full jar on the table. @galenkp you may join the table too 🤣

I guess that sounds strange to you @galenkp. #Ofe-nsala is Igbo traditional soup with pieces of meat chunks, chili pepper to cause you some sweat (push out toxins from the body)
The soup is made with local ingredients like alligator pepper, scent leaf etc.

It did not just sound great but the best.

Its the best meal you can serve in a dinner. I want to expose my favorite soup to the world do you all can benefit from it🤣

It's the best you have done. Making people to know about your dish is better

Africa has so many kinds of dishes. And it will be pride to introduce it to as many people as possible.

I can honestly say that I have never heard of this dish, but it sounds very intriguing - in a good way! yum yum yum

You will be fine with the dish. Haven't you heard of globalization, every meal is similar one way or the other. I am particularly glad that you a felted the invite.

You have prepared the best meal. Hey....you should have invited me to take this dinner. This is the best you have in mind to prepare for her. I think she is going to enjoy herself to the fullest.

You can be the second person to the dinner. It promisees to be a great evening.

lol smart guy, dinner becomes so much easier if you already know the food is going to be delicious!

Like seriously. This dinner is going to be superb. Who are you inviting to your dinner?

This food is truly delicious and yummy. I just think if he can give us the way it looks like, everyone would have been looking for ways to get one

Oh, my! Is this some hiveromance brewing? The choice for food sounds exotic and interesting.

Hehe!! Is that what you call it hiveromance? if that's what it sounds....... Well, it promises to be a great dinner.
Who are you inviting to dinner?

My comment is around.

I was just being silly. It might be the beginning of a hiveromance. Maybe not, who could tell?

Something must have beginning and an ending. Its just a dinner and constrained attached. Hope you can prepare son good meals too.

And I wish your table is always brimming with great food and good company!

Oh my, I'm a few days away from Hive and what do I see? An amazing and very (!) unexpected dinner invitation - well, thank you very much! Unfortunately I don't think that I'll be visiting your country, well, continent any time soon. And I would not come there alone.

I have to clarify that the breakfast you are remembering from last week was not home made by me. Sure, I could have made it, but that particular one, hubby and I enjoyed in a hotel after a night of his birthday celebration. So, no hiveromance - sorry, Mr. English and everyone who commented 😉.

Having said that I would truly love to experience some African cuisine as I am quite curious and will always try (almost) everything at least once. Plus visiting Africa sure is on my bucket list.

So, who knows - maybe one day, all of us, family, friends, even @galenkp 😜, we might meet in your neck of the woods or savannah and have a night of story telling and sharing over great food.

Ahahaha. All this fiction is getting in my head and am getting nervous the way those words kept pouring out from different angles.
It's ok if you're aren't coming to Africa anytime soon. I love it around here a great deal. There are beautiful places in Africa too.
Nevertheless, I would love to keep the memories of getting to visit many countries in the Caribbean, Europe and the Americas.
For this dinner, it will definitely be a time to relish communal living. 🤔

Sounds great and I hope you guys will have a delicious dinner soon :))

I am glad I got introduced to African cuisine 2 years ago by a close friend who made jollof rice and egusi soup. It was absolutely delicious! I also managed to find a family owned business here which serves African breakfast hahaha so I will be checking it out.

Hmmmm.... Great one . So, you still have that in mind. Truly we are the best in terms of cooking. Africans can cook to the brim. You have choose the best person and I'm sure she will.be very much happy to accept your invitation

You don't have to worry. I am very optimistic that it will be a great evening with all guests.

I'd like to invite @jacuzzi and his puppy dog for lunch somewhere along the beach. Unfortunately, all the restaurants and shops are closed now 😃. Oh well, the main reason I want to see Tim is that I want to catch up with KOOZA- the cutest fatty butt ever 😍 Hahaa sorry to tell this @jacuzzi but it's true. Kooza is ruining your life since he catches all attention from ladies 🤪.

We all love the beach and sunshine. It's likely that any day out to the beach with this fatty butt is always loads of fun 🤩 Okie, remind me about this once we are allowed to enter the beach and dine-in at restaurant @jacuzzi

image.png

image.png

Great choice and one that would bring loads of fun I think. Slip a few dog biscuits into your pocket and you've got dinner covered and as far as conversation goes...Doesn't matter, doggo probably only wants to play anyway!

Oh yea great recommendation Galen, I will bring biscuits for both of them as they are Vegan, however, I'm going to take them to a seafood restaurant 😃

Lol...Taking vegans to a seafood restaurant. 😂

That's a cool idea! nhem nhem, I miss the seafood restaurants

Now you are talking. See food restaurant, hope they do prepare the kind of good you people like?

Thank you @cool08. The seafood is here fresh and great. Yea, I love it :)

Hehehehehe.... slipping some biscuits into his pocket...that sounds funny...but this can keep him company since there is no restaurant in the beach

Oh @trangbaby, that would be awesome. I hope that the city get out of lockdown soon, and we could once again enjoy time on the beach. You know in that second photo you posted the puppy dog, looks like he has a forked toung... I wonder if that's natural?

Have a slice of !PIZZA and lets get lunch soon. :)

@trangbaby! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @jacuzzi.

Learn more about $PIZZA Token at hive.pizza (1/20)

a forked tongue? 😃 Ok you know you both vegan so I'm going to order all plates of seafood 😂😅

Ordering all plates of sea food? For who? How would they finish all of that?

They can't finish as they are both vegans. I'm going to eat all 😅😆

Hehehehe....you can't finish all...it's .it possible at all.

With the look of things, the tongue looks natural. Although, he should say that by himself

Aww ok Kooza I know you miss me ♥️

Dinner by the beach I am sure @jacuzzi and his pup would love it. Is there a special menu for Doggo?

Human toes are his favourite 😃(just kidding) but he likes licking my toes every time he sees me :))
Actually, he is a vegan dog too ..don't know which restaurant has the special menu for this vegan puppy :))

I have two who think toes are better than treats, but one loves chicken the other is a vegetarian by choice.
Finding a vegan restaurant for a dog would be hard lol

Wow. We all love the beachfront with some BBQ fish with lemon and ketchup. I hope that @jacuzzi will accept the invite with his puppy.

Haha, yes true that he got all ladies' attention 😅

Including you too right'? Hehe he is super kute :)

😂 😂🤣

Huh! Great topic!
I will not mention a single hive user to avoid favoritism 😅 since I can't pick one decidedly, but the other two invitations are indeed worth pondering upon!

I admire a great deal of people who became an integral part of human history, but I don't think I'd feel all at ease with dinner with them. I'd therefore choose Werner Herzog.

image.png

I've closely followed his life and the events within it, I've seen about 25 films he made, he is an inspiration for me, as well as a major influence. He also feels like a very amiable person altogether. It would be an honor to sit at a dinner with him.

As for fictional characters—I'm utterly clueless! But I've recently read Ursula K. LeGuin's The Left Hand of Darkness, and one of the characters there, Estraven/Harth, was quite fascinating. He/she's from a human species that can both be a man and a woman based on their sexual time cycle.

She/he had some commendable qualities we usually seek in a companion.

image.png

Oh wow you are definitely very familiar with his work. Real qs I am wondering here is what restaurant would you pick if you had the choice? or if this was an invitation for an at home dinner opportunity, what would you make?

Yes, he's one of the very few great artists living today.

Knowing Herzog, the dinner could be out in the open. In the backyard, or any clearing surrounded by woods. I'd like such a place as well.
Restaurants can be noisy and distracting sometimes!

Wow I love this idea. Out in the open with nature. That is very peaceful and personally I find that a lot better than restaurant settings. I like the point you brought up here about restaurants being noisy because that can definitely be the case.

Hi there, I'm not surprised you mentioned a film maker and for good reason too. Movies are a huge influence on people, and have been since their inception. I've heard of Herzog however cant actually recall if I've seen any of his movies so I'm going to say I probably haven't. I'll have to chase some down.

Thanks for joining in this week, it's good to see you drop back in.

I missed the last one, I've been forgetful and distracted and lose what day is it. I go by dates mostly (he he).
But it's always a privilege to take part in these discussions.

Herzog made films mostly in German, except his documentary films. If you can try one, I'd suggest "Lessons of Darkness", it's a docu sci-fi, about 1 hour.

An alien observer goes through the wreckage of the gulf war.

Some frames from the film,

image.png

image.png

image.png

Sounds interesting. I'll see if I can chase it down and have a look.

Wow! What an interesting topic!
I'd #invite @galenkp
Reason, when I first started Hive, he was a stand-out writer, communicator, and charismatic person, with individuality; However, to make sure he'd say yes to my invite, I'd tell him he'd be free to invite 3 other guests, with the hope that he'd invite @tarazkp.
Reason, I then stumbled upon this other content creator on hive, and liked his photography and writing styles, and diverse topics.
I immediately saw many similarities and differences between the two.
I always click on their blogs with the thoughts of: Let me see what these "brainy two" are onto now.
I rollickingly have both under two School categories: Textbook & Recess
No offence please 😆...I think the invite would give better clarity as to the accurate category they both fall under.😜

I wouldn't ask either much, but I wouldn't resist asking them their secrets for mass-production of quality content on the #Blockchain.

I'd have no expectation of the two, but to eat what I'd present to them, which would be my National Jamaican dish: Ackee and...

Source:
Individually, I'd present them the Ackee from the tree, and ask them to explain how they would eat it without instructions.
Then, I'd would reveal the rest of the menu, where I would take delight in entertaining them with the Jamaican Folklore behind the Ackee which I'm sure would be an ice-breaker😂

Enjoy #TheWeekend!

You're too kind Camille, thank you for such nice words.

Hmm, you want me to invite my brother? Two KP's in the same room? You must be a glutton for punishment but I'm pretty sure I can make it work and we'd both be glad for the company...There's one condition though...That fella of yours has to be there as I think he'd be a riot! Hmm, this sounds like it's turning into a party!

Lol, text book and recess...I like that. I'm definitely recess.

I'm an expert ackee eater, or I would be had I heard of it. I'll give it a go though and whilst I'll probably eat it wrong it'd make for a laugh or two for everyone else and that's good enough. In between laughs you can tell me the folklore.

Thanks for getting involved and for being so creative and fun this week Camille, it's very greatly appreciated.

We are like Siamese twins, so yes, my fella would be there too :)
I think I got that right about you being recess 😂

In all seriousness, it would be nice for us all to meet one day😄

Thank you so much for this wonderful topic, and wishing you a great day. I forget your time zone is way ahead of our now!

Yeah, you were right; recess. It's that obvious huh? Lol.

It'd be good for a catch up; I reckon a lot of fun for sure.

🤣, it's very obvious! But I think your bro is a relatively entertaining text book though :)

He can be.

When he chooses to !?😅

I would invite @barbara-orenya for dinner! She is one of my oldest friends on the blockchain, and she was an online friend before we came here. I have visited her town in France, but it was before I met her on TSU, so we didn't meetup but when she posts pictures from around Annecy I can feel like I am there again. She has helped run the Feathered Friends Community since the beginning and we are constantly exchanging Discord messages.
I would love to have her over for dinner, or to spend a week and talk face to face!

Wow. Feathered friends is such a huge community and I have loved to be a part of the success story except that the feathered-friends here in Africa won't allow you take a shot. Its fine to be on hive together and promote a good relationship out of here. I would like to keep a friend like @barbara-orenya

thank_you_vache.png @mrenglish
I'm not sure you would appreciate me that much as friend though 😉, I'm not very social, I have only a few genuine friends, due to the fact that I interact not very much, I communicate in other ways, and I'm a supportive gal, but I'm not engaging too much of my energy, which I tend to preserve, so I compensate by giving something of me through my drawings 😁
As far as I could see, you engaged a lot in this post, that's great ! congrats_purple_cow.png

Yep..seems it's cow day today 😁

🤣😂🤣 so funny of you. Sure, I engage, that's how I get to socialize with people. We are different of course a a have ways of doing out things.
Its a great invite, keeping tabs on old time sake.

The differences are what make a great interest in Life...how boring would it be if we were all the same, indeed ? 😉

You're right you know. The sweetness of life is in the different approaches we view things.

Did you know that you don't have to post photos of live birds in Feathered Friends? We love to see bird art and anything related to birds. Bird nests and bird houses are fun to see, too.

Oh I didn't know that either!

Good to know, although the timing is ironic as I took some snaps earlier this evening specifically for feather friends, I haven't gotten to review them yet but I hope they are as good as they looked through my viewfinder lol.

Wonderful to cross paths with you lovely lady, always a pleasure.

Have an awesome weekend and an even better week to follow.🙂

It's always great to hear from you and I'll be looking forward to seeing your Feathered Friends photos! Bird houses, bird feeders, bird paintings and sculptures. All about birds-it's all welcome.
I'm working at trying to get the FF Comment Contest going again. Hopefully soon and when I do I will be nagging at you to write a comment story and show people how it is done!

This is quite privileged information. You know, I never knew that it's not only about birds. I would try the community in.my subsequent posts.

That would be a big help! I keep trying to do posts to demonstrate with bird houses and sculptures, but it quickly goes back to live birds!

I haven't tried out anything here before because I could get images of birds. Now that I know the community spreads beyond that, I will see to what I can do to post here frequently.

I will look forward to seeing what you find!

Expect my post in the community

I'll look forward to it!

Oh wow. What impressive. Now I know that you also run the Feathered Friends Community. Amazing. I'm going to catch more pictures of birds next time 🐦🐦🐦

I will be looking forward to seeing your bird photos!

Wow...that's great. I think it will be a pleasure to come to the community through my writing skills. If only it is to draw birds or take photos of bird nest and the likes.

Is it possible to post a video that I have made on birds? This is because I have one..

Of course! I would love to see it!

This sounds like a most excellent choice and I'm sure it would be the sort of time that warms the soul and is remembered for a long time.

The vegetarian meal sounds good too and what visit to a cheeseheads house for dinner would be complete without cheese!

A very good choice and for very good reasons. 😁

A truckload of cheesehead hats at the Packer Hall of Fame.

img_0.5364203136150316.jpg

Lol, only in Wisconsin.

How cool is that you thought of me here @melinda010100 !
And I would be so excited to be at this dinner with you my dear ! I can't believe we know us for that long and followed the same networks, standing together as good friends 😄 We know we can trust each other, it's a matter of feeling how people really are, even behind a screen😊
I would enjoy to visit your beautiful garden, the nature around your house, filled with birds and special guests like chipmunks...and I'm also so thrilled to read your family stories and see how close you are all from each other, and to know how you certainly are their steady rock 😉

Undeniable proof if we even needed it here, that bonds and friendships started online can be just as connected and fulfilling as those formed in the so-called real world. You are 2 of the loveliest, most supportive ladies I have ever had the privilege of crossing paths with on Hive and I think the idea of you 2 being able to meet would be utterly amazing.

I do so hope it gets to happen.

May your weekend be amazing but not as good as the week that follows it. Take good care, great to see you 🙂

Oh @stevenwood, happy to see you around ! I enjoy you joining us in Melinda’s garden 🙌

img_0441.png

Hmm.. love this. Dinner with a tour of the garden. With maybe a good show of live and art feathered friends.
Would the conversation be all about birds and trees or would it be more wide.

Ooh, probably wider, but only important joyful things like breathing the good air, enjoying the luck of being aware, being mindful and tolerant with each others, allowing good things to come at us by not facing the reality and instead creating it …. Being genius creative minds rather than regurgitators of surrounding daily reality 🙃
img_0450.png

Sounds real good to me. I love the way you come up with these images. So cute.

That's lovely. Inviting ypur feather friend over to your place for dinner is the best you have done. With the look of things, it has been long you both met up with each other.

Since I could never compete with the marvelous food available in France if it was this time
of year I would make a vegetarian meal with lots of our wonderful locally grown produce and since I am in Wisconsin I would I would serve some of our lovely cheese, but the wine will have to be French!

This wi look yummy but I have not tasted this before. How does the taste looks like?

I occasionally like white on a hot summer day, but red is my favorite. Which do you like best?

I don't drink either. A glass of wine with a nice meal is about it.. I like cider, but prefer it draft and since I haven't been eating out it has become hard to come by!

Oh, that is a thought-provoking prompt and I guess once the ideas start flooding to me choosing just 1 will be bloody torture.

I'm going to make a coffee before bedtime, up early for work in the morning, by the time I return I will know my answer.

OK I'm back and I have an answer.

I did, so want to come up with something humourous to encourage a little fun but alas it was not to be, I would have been lying to myself if I chose an alternative answer.

I would have loved to sit and have a meal and a genuine converstaion with Viktor Frankl, the famous Austrian Neuroscientist who had more than a fleeting knowledge of what it means to find true meaning in life, even when faced with the most dire of circumstances. His thoughts on finding hope and a strong desire to surive, thrive and go on were gleaned in a Nazi concentration camp.

Despite his parents, wife and brother all dying in various camps Frankl became fascinated by those who retained their compassion, dignity and a sense of purpose & noted that those who cared for others or gave away their food to those who needed it more survived the longest. Those who gave up, never recovered. From this experience he wrote the famed literary masterpiece 'Man's search for meaning'. The book deatils the cultivation of hope where none should exist, it is actually quite a hopeful book despite giving account of some truly cruel, abhorrent behaviour from man to man.

I believe a conversation with him may shed some more light on how those in despair can find a purpose and a reason to endure even when all seems lost. This would be a fabulous lesson to be able to teach and is one that we human types need more than ever.

I imagine Viktor would be a warm, humble man who would put me at ease quickly and share anything he could to be of service to others.

Happy weekend WE'ers, I hope is a wonderful one filled with optimism, happines and joy.😎

(Sorry for the length, I did edit some out)

I've read Man's search for meaning Steven and am familiar therefore with his struggles and mindset.

Dinner with this chap would be a life-altering moment I think and one in which a person who was open to it would learn many things. I mentor a few people here and there and I use many examples, loosely veiled, from his book and some I suggest even read it, but one needs to be careful in that regard guess also. Powerful stuff.

Anyway, I concur with you in that this meeting/dinner would indeed prove to be very valuable. Thanks for sharing, getting involved and all.

Wow what an interesting choice of person to have dinner with. I can just about imagine how the conversation will flow at the dinner table. I hope he is a good conversationalist. My son is a neurosurgeon and I know not many are great talkers.

With all these in your mind, I hope Frankl will be able to be to dinner. There are people with great career prospect like Frankl, a neuroscientist is hard to come by. He will certainly make a good guest.

I've heard about them but I've never read the book, also, the back story makes it a worthwhile choice.
Sidenote: is the book an easy read?

Well, we're watching McCartney: 3,2.1 or whatever is currently on vacation, so I'd invite Paul McCartney to dinner. I'm still not 100% convinced that guy is the real Macca, so I'd get him drunk on IPAs and get to the bottom of it. So maybe I'd really be inviting William Campbell Shepherd?

Lol...Get the old boy sloshed mate, the truth is out there!

haha...it's a rabbit hole of a mystery...the trick will be to not forget, lol

I was going to say, you don't have to drink too much yourself, but there's no point living in a fantasy world.

Macca would have no idea what he's getting into...especially with this 'sconnie

Lol...I'll keep the phone handy in the certain off chance someone needs to call 911.

Oh my..... This is about the second time someone will have the desire to invite a guest majorly to get them drunk and make them say some truths. McCartney would be a great guest also will Campbell.

Yeah, I think so too, haha - with some luck, McCartney and Campbell may be the same person!

Oh. I never saw that coming. Two characters one person.

Yeah, it's a rabbit hole of intrigue, if you choose to follow that carrot, lol

hahaha the funniest one yet!

What about if getting him drunk later failed, what will you do?

I'd probably drink alone, lol

Man, this one is kind of a tough one because I would love to invite so many friends. But if I have to choose one person, I would like to choose the teacher who teaches the subject 'Academic Skills' at our University.

Most students dislike her because she is very disciplined. But I look up to her very much. She is already over 60, but you would never think so. Not only because of her looks, but also because she is also very developed. Moreover, she keeps up with the times, she is more than up to date in the technical field. I don't see that happening very often in my immediate environment. Many people over 60 that I know can't even handle a mobile phone.

She is also very organized. Finally, she is super rich, while she actually comes from a poor family and through hard work she has come where she is today. Despite being very rich nowadays and having a good position in society, she is very humble.

I would love to have dinner with her so she can tell me a little bit more about her life and how she has overcome the hard times to build herself up. It is often the case that people see what goals someone else has achieved, but no one wants to know about the struggles. I, on the other hand, would like to know how those struggles went, so I can learn from them.

What would I like to eat? I happen to know that she loves Italian food and so do I, so I would probably take her out to dinner at an Italian restaurant. Because I am not a great cook.🤣

Sharing Italian food whilst gaining knowledge and wisdom from someone who hold plenty of both sounds like a pretty good plan and so I think you've chosen a really good person to share your imaginary dinner with. In truth I think you've already learned a great deal from her and will probably learn more. You sound like a switched on lady, one who is open to learning through other people's experiences and so that's exactly what you'll do; good lessons they'll be too I think.

@galenkp Yes, indeed I am really a person who is always open to listening to others' experiences. I think that just makes me a better person. We can grow by learning in school, but growing by watching and listening to life experiences are sometimes much more fun and educational.

Life lessons can be far more important from those traditional ones we learn in school.

In as far that he stood his ground to learn from the one whom people dislike means a lot. His goodness of gaining knowledge from her is the special parts I cherish so much.

@cool08 Haha, yes I don't really care about what the others students think of her. I am sure they hate me for liking that teacher, but hey we can't expect everyone to love us right?🤣

I am a teacher and I know how it feels to get invited for dinner. Plus, making an Italian recipe, that's going to be a long night, I anticipate the red wine to complete the meal 😂🤗

@mrenglish Cool! Have you ever been invited by a student yourself?
One of my students who comes to tutoring once gave me a necklace as a gift. I felt so honored. That feeling is so indescribable.
Red wine is my favorite 😂 So it would definitely be there.

I have had to attend a lot of invites by my former students. Sometimes, to a reunion party by students and having to part with so many accolades and gifts. The giggles comes with such invites.

Wow. . . You have made the right choice. Getting to know how he passed through the hard times is the best you have done. She might be hard and tough but discipline. In as far that she is disciplined means she can go extra mile to work hard to attain success. This is the kind of people I love to go with

@cool08 Yes, at the end of the day, it suits me that she is disciplined. She is doing it for our good. 😅

I’d invite Robinson Crusoe for dinner! And his friend named Friday!

I’d treat them to delicious dishes.

When I was a kid, I used to love reading a book about Robinson Crusoe’s adventures.

I wondered how a hermit could survive alone on a deserted island.

At dinner, I would ask Robinson Crusoe how he built his shelter. How he grew wheat and vegetable gardens.

And besides, these Robinson Crusoe skills are very much needed in our society right now!
What if I run into the woods out of town? And survive in Nature...

I'm pretty sure Robinson Crusoe would have loads of great knowledge and information to pass along and it would be great to have the skills he used to survive on that island! This is a great choice indeed!

Thank you, Galen!

I think when Robinson gets into our time, he’ll run right back to his island!

Our food... it’s so tasteless, artificial additives, preservatives... Fuuu 👎👎👎

All the food on the island was natural and natural!

Our food... it’s so tasteless, artificial additives, preservatives

This is true...Let's hope he stays long enough for your dinner though.

I think I'll invite someone from Hive, @kaerpediem for lunch with me at home. I'd like to get to know her better. I have known her for sometime and I think we have a lot in common and it would be lovely to know her better in a relaxed sort of way. I would cook my special coconut milk, pandan and mint rice with pepper chicken, raita, kebabs and maybe a silky pineapple custard.
I also know that she like sambal Malaysian style so I'll make sure I make it for her.

She seems like a god choice and I'm sore would like the chance to spend some time with you and enjoy your dinner [which sounds pretty tasty]. You mention Malaysia, are you from there? My dad was born there.

She lives there, I am from India.

I would like to invite my childhood best friend for dinner. Yesterday, her dog died, and all I could do was send a generic sorry message. We were never like this. We used to talk for hours. it hurt that we drifted apart this much. I miss us. I want to talk to her through the night over some delicious food.

Oh no! Losing a pet is such a difficult thing to go through and having someone around to share the pain with helps so much! It's a shame you drifted apart but that happens sometimes although it doesn't mean you'll not become close again.

It would be nice to sit for a meal with her and reminisce about the good old days, her dog and of course to set the tone for the future.

Of course, you have said it all. Sitting in a round table to set things right should be the best.

Its such an emotional monument for your best friend. Talking away at dinner will surely help out. Relationships for me are gems, must not be ended abruptly.

some dont end, they just fade.

So true, we just grow apart.

Hmm I am sure she 'd love your company. Losing a pet is tough.. been through that a few times now. It doesn't get better.
Hmm.. childhood friends to tend to move apart. I wish I could meet a couple of mine.

I hope so, I don't have a pet so I'm not sure how to console but I want to

Don't worry, the fact that you care would be enough. Often times loving gestures are better than words in times of grief. I wouldn't have liked anyone to talk to me when I lost my pet, but I would have loved to have my friends just hang around with me.

I'm sorry to hear about her pet. Hope you both can sit down together and I'm sure she will feel good when you are with her during this tough time.

Thanks, I don't know what I'll say but I just want to sit down with her.

One will truly feel sad after losing a pet. Inviting him for a dinner is the best option.

Family excluded and just a single person? That makes it hard, because honestly my favorite dinners are having friends over and we are all doing the prep work in the kitchen together, chatting, laughing, dancing and then spending the evening eating and talking and - there's probably drinking, too, and more laughing.

If I have to go for a single person it would be someone from history, way back, Leonardo da Vinci comes to mind. He was an amazing man of such diverse interests and knowledge that it is mind boggling. I probably wouldn't understand 90 % of what he would say over dinner, but despite that I am sure it would be a delightful time.

da Vinci would be a great choice I think; intelligent, knowledgeable and creative. Whether you were to understand most of what he said or not I feel there'd be a lot of value! I wonder what culinary delights you would serve or where you would go for dinner?

Leaving us hanging by not responding yourself? Brutality for the weekend! Lol.

Who I would invite for dinner… hmm I will have to think about this a little bit.

I’m going to go with someone local and knew to us. The little man and I have made a friend on our fishing outings! We met this older guy named Jeff who likes to fish at the same spot as we do. He’s probably in his 60’s or 70’s but works nights. He’s a navy veteran and the times I’ve spent hanging out with him have been good. He’s pretty relaxed, loves to fish with the little man and has good tips and things of that nature. He even gave us a tool as a way to pay it forward for the little man. I’d love to invite him over to have dinner, learn more about him and the things he’s done in life and all that and just be a friend. It sounds like he’s a little lonely in life. Poor guy lost his wife and two children, with two more remaining in his lifetime. That’s one hell of an awful thing to experience but we do what we have to do to keep going for the other loved ones in our lives. From the first day we met him he gave the little man a shiner, we didn’t talk to him for more than a minute and he gave us one to use. I would enjoy the opportunity to get to know the guy more, I tend to enjoy befriending older people like that. They have lots of wisdom and life experience that you can learn from and I always enjoy those moments. I’m lucky that I got to do quite a bit of that already in my life, learning from the older generation. You can never have too much of that I think!

For years I went out of my way to spend regular time with people older than myself, retirees and all; many were veterans but a lot were not. My strategy was to learn things from people who had experienced a lot more life than I had and I did. Of course, it also had a secondary benefit of them having an attentive listener to talk with as many of them had no one else. I gained more than they did I think.

I like what you're doing here man, it's good for you and the E-tacker both.

Truly we learn from people who are older than us. Without their knowledge to build up ourselves. They are always filled with wisdom because you have seen more before us.

Yeah I love it as well for those same reasons. It’s something that many people could do and change their attitudes in life if they learned to try and get wisdom and perspective from someone who is older than they are. The older folks aren’t always right in some of their convictions but they have great perspectives and life experience that we can learn from.

Many can truly change their attitudes in life because meeting with.thwm can make you be wise.

Aww, you're so cute. I like it, he maybe need some company. Good!

I would like to have dinner with the little man. 😍💙😘say hi to him...

Meeting with this aged man is a means of copying wisdom from him. In old men lie wisdom and so inviting him for dinner we make you get more about him and more wisdom about him as well.

I think it is for sure! We always should try to learn from the wisdom of the older generation. Experience matters to shape our world view!

Well said. Experience matters

Topics always getting better. Too bad I missed two already because stuff. Hmm... I have so many options for this. But let's go on for the cheesiet one. I know this girl since kindergarten. I could refer to her as my childhood love if one is able to say such things at an age were concepts are blurry. I think the idea would be to reconnect. We talk a little bit every once in a while, but I've seen she's doing really well and that makes me happy. About where to go. I think Italian food would be the easiest choice as she's half Italian.

If I could choose any other person, I think this guide Mike Duncan from the Revolutions Podcast would be an interesting dinner date. I just would ask him to tell me about anything in history and enjoy listening to that witty and sardonic way of storytelling. Also, I think he might be an even easier pick for food. Nice burgers, fries, cold beers and a lot of stories about History's interesting events and not-so-well-known facts.

I really like the idea of that girl coming over for dinner; trust you to have a really thoughtful answer. I love how you find happiness in her happiness, that she's doing well. You're a gentleman. I have visions of the embers from the past growing to flames at your dinner and, I agree, Italian food sound pretty perfect.

MD is another nice choice and I think there's be great value to come from that dinner over beers and burgers.

Nice answer my friend. ✅

Well, I don't know about embers. Because that's a one-sided issue. But who knows what might happen. Hey, happiness is as contagious as Covid, so as long as you see happy people and aren't a nutjob, well, you will get a bit of it.

MD is another nice choice and I think there's be great value to come from that dinner over beers and burgers.

A lot of value in that dinner. I might even get ideas to stand-up monologues. The possibilities are infinte.

aren't a nutjob

Doesn't leave much hope for me bro! 🤪

Ha, ha, ha. I think there's 2 kinds of crazy. You know the cool one like ourselves and the clinical kind, i.e, the nutjobs 🤣

Who am I to disagree with such sound logic my friend. Clearly you and I possess a cool-craziness that others can but dream about.

Now you're getting it! Ha, ha, ha. This is how things work. Let others try to get a glimpse of the cool kind of crazy.

Oh wait, I think I understood that description... I am the second type!!!

Somebody has to admit the truth, it may as well be me, right? 🤣 Good to cross paths with you @bertrayo Hope you are well man. Take good care 🙂

Well, acceptance is the first step towards happiness. Or so they say in cheesy phrases.

You're right! 🤣

I'm glad as well, @stevenwood. Hopefully, all is fine and dandy in your life. Have a great weekend and take care. 😄

Mike Duncan from the podcast crew will make a good guest at dinner but face it man, that girl's thought have been there since kindergarten 🥰 you should be with her on a sumptuous Italian meal.
I know your heart giggles at that slight opportunity to make a request for an invite

Ha, ha, ha. Not really, man. That girl has a life and I'm not going to get into it.

Oh!! Thought you have a thing for her right from kindergarten. Coming for dinner will help settle some scores.

I said I wanted to catch up. Jeez 🤣

It's cool to catch up buddy. I'd like to have a report on how the evening went down.

Ha, ha, ha. You and me both. That's not going to happen anytime soon.

You truly have passion for her for so long now, so, inviting her for dinner is the best choice you have chosen. Don't forget that she is the only.one who made you happy and true love never dies.

I wouldn't say that. I mean this a kind of thing like Dante in love of Beatrice and writing that very long poem. I just want to catch up. Not start a thing. 😅

Catching up as you have rightly said is the best.

Hello @galenkp79ADMI, I loved this initiative, in relation to the proposed topic I would invite @hugovidamar to dinner because I have many years almost 26 years without seeing him personally, I would ask him about his achievements and failures, his motivations during his life to get ahead and achieve his goals, I would talk for hours with him, I think we would join dinner, breakfast, lunch because we would have so much to talk about that we would mind sitting there enjoying our company, I would propose that it would be at 6 in the evening, in a place where we could contemplate the sunset, listening to the waves of the sea and we could stay there without being told to close the place, because I think we would continue the conversation until we see the sunrise, we both love the sea and it would be great to sit on a folding chairs to comfortably enjoy while the sun rises with a good coffee and some delicious breads that I would carry in my bag made by me.
It would be great!

This sounds like a perfect get together after so many years a d I'm sure there'll be some good times to be had an great memories to be made. Talking all night until the sun comes up sounds pretty special. Nice work.

I'm sorry, I don't speak or read Spanish.

Hello, I am new to this but I would like to invite Richard Gere since he seems to me a person who despite being in the world of entertainment in which it is not easy to maintain physical and emotional balance, he has managed to balance his successes and transcend his fame, to work within himself and achieve a greater awareness of him and the planet ... and that seems like an example for everyone.

It means he is a good example of those who have strive to attain greatness.

Kevin O’Leary probably would be one of my first choices (fellow Canadian).

Seems a good choice.

It's a good choice but I think they should tell us the reason why he love to invite him for a dinner.

Nice choice for the invite. What are you going to be preparing for dinner and why are you inviting him.over.

Yeah, Kevin has a great business mind, and a great sense of humour too. Steak and lobster with an O’Leary red wine on the side.

I tell you. Lobsters and red wine will just make the day a calm one with some tipsy moves around our bodies.

It's a good choice but what do you think you can use to entertain him as dinner.

If I have the opportunity to invite someone for dinner, I would like to invite my formal university calculus lecturer. He reason olis because he has tried in teaching me but not lecturing me to know mathematics to the end. I'm a mathematics teacher today just because of him. I'm not embarrassed in any form of mathematics just because of him.

I would've love to meet someone who could get me grow over my math boredom. I understand the thing but it bores me to death. It's a very sound and legit choice.

This is to remind him of the seed he has planted in me.

A great teacher always lives in our memories.

This one is in my memory and I will ever be to remember him.

That's a fine thing!

This is a great answer that honours a person who had a big influence upon who you are today. It also shows that you are a person who is respectful and who shows gratitude towards those who help you along the way in life.

Nice response sir.

I always hoped to be like him because he is the person who has changed my life and if I'm not mistaken, many othera.

Hmm yeah...But what would be way cooler is if you were you, with his his wisdom applied to yourself. Being ourselves is the best thing each of us can be, provided we strive to be the best version of ourselves. 😉

I would love to do more than what he does. I have been trying my best to impact knowledge by organising classes in terms of mathematics for many students. I have tried also to released out what he impacted in me to others

That's a good invite. The good people do lives with them.
Your lecturer will be so proud to accept the invite.

He is a good man who loves his students and also all the students loved him in return.

It pays tobe good. Our lives depends on what good we have done yesterday.

That is exactly the kind of impact a good teacher is supposed to have. He sounds like a man who cared about educating and doing it in the way that suited you best. He sounds like a great guy. Respect to you for remembering him well and acknowledging the impact he had on you.

Really great answer to read. Take good care man 😎

He is a nice man who never wanted in students down. His method of teaching is the best

Well, the truth is that I am a person who greatly admires the overcoming and how people of limited resources have risen from below and have managed to move forward, for that reason I would invite John Davison Rockefeller.

He is the richest man in history (Well, every day a millionare born so I don't know if this stat has changed), I have read many biographies of him and the most fascinating thing about his story is everything he achieved by founding a company as preponderant in history as Chevron, what surprises me is that at the beginning his business to do so was coffee which was something I was dedicated to for a few years along with a partner, a business that I fell in love with (and that I do not know if it has already been done but it would be a good topic for another Weekend-Engagement, coffe hehe). I would like to ask him all kinds of things, how he did it, how was his mentality at all times, in short. I admire him a lot even though I didn't have the joy of seeing him in life but just hearing about his legacy was enough to capture my admiration.

We can learn so much from people who have come before us, had experiences we have not and who have had success and failure in equal measure. It's the failures that we tend to learn the most from in fact. So, I think this is a very good choice to have dinner with as I think you'll learn a lot.

Understanding what he did, how he felt and motivated himself and how he overcame adversity would be valuable information and, whilst you've read it, hearing it first hand would be more valuable indeed I think.

Great choice!

That's right Galen, I think more than his achievements I would love to hear about his failures and how he overcame them. The dinners are to share moments that bring us, for me, it would be like reading a good book in one night hahaha.

There is no man on Earth without a story of failure. So I am sure you are going to learn from his failures and also learn from how he attained greatness.

This avenue is the best one to make him pour out how he attained greatness. It's a good choice she has made

I see you have your eyes on great things. Rockefeller to a dinner is gonna be a lovely moment.

Definitely man! It would be a fantastic time of just learning. Thank you so much btw I think we all dream big in our way but I do like to always go for more and not settle, that's my motto everywhere I go.

That's a good way to reason, a good motto for life goals. To keep winning you need to aim high.

I'm sure you're going to learn a lot from him because this is the best time to get any idea or to learn from such person.

It is good for someone to be great and also good for someone that is not great to admire greatness because we all needs to be great one day. Inviting him for dinner I am sure will make you feel better because as you have rightly said that you will invite him to ask him how he is made hands wealth is the best. You have good mind of attending greatness.

This is one of the hardest and most complicated topics you ever made.
I think that younger angelina jolie would be a good choice. in Tomb Raider/ Mr and mrs smith she seemed very sexy...
Tyrion. If I could get him drunk maybe he would give me some of his gold.
Kentaro Miura. Perhaps he would tell me how he planned to finish Berserk?
Basketball coach I mentioned in the past. If he would get REALLY drunk maybe he would decline a ton of money from richest teams in europe and sign as the head coach of my favorite basketball team again?
Luka Doncic. The same logic as above. 5 bottles: would you like to lead a small budget team to the top of euroleague? No? How about after another 5 bottles?

I think that younger Angelina Jolie would be a good choice.

This sounds like a pretty good choice; From what I know she's an incredibly intelligent person who promotes conservation, women's rights and education among other things. I doubt you'd be short of conversation over dinner with her.

Great choice.

She may not even attend the dinner invitation just because of her intelligence

Hmm, maybe you're right.

or she may attend the dinner invitation just because of her intelligence😜

Even after attending, she will never stop so low

Getting Angina Jolie drunk at dinner to get some cold is a big plan and getting it materialized is another thing entirely. Julie is a sexy babe and asking her to come for dinner is quite an ambitious idea. Isn't it?

“You know, I think it's important to keep a balance in things. Yeah, balance, that's the right word. Cause the guy who wants too much risks losing absolutely everything. Of course, the one who wants too little from life, might not get anything at all.”

― Thomas Angelo

It is true that this idea is bit crazy...but most of my ideas are so I would say that it is still balanced.😜

How much Can you ever get from life in the long run? Absolutely nothing. The risk is worth taking though. I love to desire some weird things too but I'd rather limit around my scope.

I don't think the idea is that easy because this person involved is smarter

So, you meant to say that just because you need much, t a truly manifest?

I don't think she can even attend the invitation because she is more smarter than the one inviting her. So I am seeing the possibility of her attending the dinner invitation absurd.

Anything can happen though. She is a celebrity, yes, but celebrities do accept invitations too.

This topic is not complicated at all. It is a topic that everyone would want to respond to with immediate effect.

Hehehe...it means she is always the best. So, telling you the techniques will be by making her drunk. What about if she failed to drink?

Come to think of it again, do you really think he can truly release his gold after getting him drunk?

Very nice sir. Cinch, I thought. One more anything with my mother, this is easy, I thought. Good call excluding family. I'll be back when I figure out how to take at-everyone out.

Happy Friday.

The mother option was what I wanted to veto with my little rule. Has worked so far. Taking the easy option seems to plague society so I took it upon myself to remove that option.

I forgot to compliment the font choice. When I see your covers nowadays, that one's my favorite. Specifically when you add the the second layer. The Viking font is culturally correct looking too.

Alright, well sir, I've now officially broken the record for length of time one can engage about font so I'm gonna sto.....

Yeah, I'll admit to having a bit of fun with the fonts I choose for the images and well spotted with the Viking one as I looked for something that felt old-world for that one.

Look at us bro, couple chaps just sitting around talking about fonts.

#livinlarge

Talking about fonts when entertainment is on the cards.. Ugh...

?

Let's talk about food, not font lol you have your alaphabets wrong.

OMG! Stop being a font-nerd Double D.

Jeez, I used to look up to you as a kind of older father figure, ((much, much older)) ya ruined it man!!!

Font's code dude. It's best you don't know.

This kind of font seems to be code , are my right?

Any righter would be weird US political jargon.

Font nerds - that is right.

You've got to look up his code lol.. you'll know all the font secrets.

Taking the easy option seems to plague society.

Damn straight. Somebody needs to stand up lol.

Trust the old G-dog to throw a wet blanket upon the easy road and force people to use their fucken noggins a little more.

Lol. Almost the same, I thought instantly of my Mums Mum, my Nana, god I would love one more hour with her she was truly amazing and had a raft of wonderful qualities and a wicked sense of humour.

I think G did the right thing too.

We'll talk about'em here then. Hashtag loop hole.

Just one more time. I won't even talk, I won't interrupt or anything, go ahead and bla bla bla all the neighborhood drama, whatever you want. I'll listen and love it.

Like that.

What day is it? Sureties? Lady I don't even know what day it is!

We scoped out 10 properties yesterday. Not 9, not 11, 10. It was Puras day off yesterday which meant I was on the clock yesterday. Smile... nod.. smile... nod.

You are awesome at that @dandays, smile nod smile 😂

Ditto. 💖

Sincerely,

The Luckiest Guy I Know.

This is truly not part of the rules. I think you should rethink and give us something tangible

Hands down, I'd love to have dinner with @carolkean, a dear friend from Hive. She was one of the first here (or on the former chain really) to recognize and support my creative writing talents. Without her I may have abandoned those efforts altogether. Now I'm a writer!!!

As far as engagement goes, no one does it better. Her comments on my posts, which are worthy of being posts of their own, lead to tantalizing and informative conversations. I do not know how she finds the time to do this, but I am so happy she does.

How delightful a face to face conversation would be! We would compose extemporaneous poetry! And she might bring one of her famous Barbie cakes! Oh I would love this.

Wow. @carolkean will be so proud to honor the invite. The reason for the invite is valid. The Barbie cakes, for dinner, does that really match. I'd love to see her response to the choice of meal to be served at the proposed dinner.

Truly, I love to see her response too if carolkean will welcome this invitation

A nice selection here I think. Clearly carolkean means more to you than just a hive user who comments on your posts. She has inspired and supported you and continues to do so and that makes her worthy of dinner... Especially if she brings Barbie cakes!

There's much drama and negativity on the blockchain if one looks for it but also so much positivity and I ignore the former being more interested in the latter. It's connections like yours with CK that make this place awesome. It's not just a bunch of users, it's a place where those users can become friends. True friends.

Carolkean mean more to him indeed. He has made him a writer today. This is a great achievement, you know.

@carolkean has truly helped you to become a writer. This is great of him/her. I could remember when I was still in uptrennd, @princessbusayo motivated me to write and indeed I can always remember her to the fullest whenever I'm writing.
This is great. Fine-tuning your mode of write up was true this same person. He/ she needs to be invited

@galenkp
Oh! Only now I noticed the "hat" of the community page "WEEKEND"!
Congratulations to the 1,000 subscribers community!

Oh yeah, I just noticed that...Looks like @evelyn41 was the 1000th subscriber. I'll have to send her wallet a gift or something huh?

Galen! Maybe draw a funny greeting card. And send it to your anniversary subscriber!

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. I was thinking more a transfer of hive to her wallet and a thank you note.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!
This Evelyn clearly deserves a gift!!!
She only registered for Hive today. And immediately subscribed to the "Weekend" community!

Three friends and sauced chicken, I bet you the dinner will rock. All those Thai foods involved in this whole thing is another class. Nicely thought.

I wish you will incline with African foods too. Its oy on tv I watched the Thai meals with a body of condiments.

I love extra spicy too. herbs and condiments make food smell and taste great.

So you also know about our African foods?

He's a solid, authentic friend who has been supportive beyond what someone I've never met in person usually is.

Beautiful choice and for all the very best reasons. I sincerely hope you do get to meet, don't rule it out, life sometimes has a way. I love your take on expectations and agree wholeheartedly.

You won't realise it but I kinda owe you an apology. You are one of many names that exist on a myriad of 'post it' notes on or around my PC desk that I never got to respond to. I loved your piece on over-apologizing. I am sure you are Canadian, but I related to it immensely ((British lol)) I remember the post but I found the numerous apologies, listed in the first section of the post, almost in verse form very powerful.

I just got the immense irony of starting this bit with;

You won't realise it but I kinda owe you an apology.

Genuinely not intentional, but I am having a good laugh about it right now lol. Take good care, may your weekend be a great one 😎

What a great choice! It seems this person means a great deal to you and has provided some valuable support and friendship over the years despite you not having had the chance to get together. Now I just want this dinner to take place in real life!

The menu sounds pretty good amazing! It's a lot of food, but I feel the dinner will be an extended affair as it should be with such a valued friend.

I get the feeling that should this dinner take place there would be great mutual gain and it would create memories that endured.

Overall, an excellent selection I think. G-dog approves. 😬

This person means a lot to him because he has provided him with knowledge in terms of cooking. It seems they are in same field.

I recall you're a great host who designs the menu around the guests needs...Maybe one day I'll experience it first-hand. Let's just work off the premise that I have a standing invite acceptance as far as dinner at your place goes. 😆

It's the company that really counts, I agree. With good company I wouldn't care if the food was a simple toasted cheese sandwich and a glass of water.

This is one long menu, would you be able to even taste everything on the table lol

What a waste of good food. Sigh

Sounds kind of romantic too me. Let the romance begin. 😍

This topic is just too simple and so choosing out of your three friends should be more easier.

Practicing with him in a martial art coupled with all these foods is the best choice you have made. The dinner is truly a yummy one which no one would love to miss.
